"They insulted prophet Mohammed in 2001 and we have not forgotten" ...,prophet Mohammed then asked you guys to avenge the insult with mass murder, is that right? You are tarnishing the name of the prophet and Islam, you bloody scums! No matter how long it takes boko haram shall be wiped clean from our midst. For, surely good shall triumph over evil. |
Anasko: blasts and shootings in gombe state univ. Now. Link. Voa hausa. These boko haram people are mere senseless anarchists! Why don't they live the schools standing so that when they eventually win the 'war' these schools would become their own type of institutions, or places to conceal women and children in 'Kule'? Nigerians must stand up and remove this evil from the country. |
Not again, where is this beatiful country heading to... lord have your way... Their aim is to turn this country to a muslim country almighty God will not agree with their plan amen!
No, not a muslim country but a country as desired by Othman Dan Fodio. Ask Adamu Chiroma, he said it. It appears the Borno empire and Sokoto Caliphate have settled their 'mutual' differences and are now working towards a confederation made up of captured territories like Ilorin, Suleja, fct and other 'Hausa Bokwes'. That is why the Fulanis are trimming the countrysides by dealing with 'stubborn tribes' across central Nigeria while BH is hitting dissenting 'voices'in urban areas that would soon become part of the new confederation. Religion is just a ploy to attract foot-soldiers as well as a cloak that covers the 'real thing'. |
The few who refused to agree with the write-up do not know what goes on in the core north, or they are simply incapable of accepting bitter truths. Besides the constitutional issue which GEJ has actually failed to take into consideration, the present crop of northern elites have never shown serious interest in such things as primary/secondary education; They are more concerned with educating their kids and in-laws to inherit their stolen wealth, sponsoring pilgrims to Mecca and contributing to Mosque buildings. The Almajiri question has been asked decades ago but without anyone from that part of the country showing much interest in how the issue could be resolved. It is now that the chips are down that the vociferous ones among them have pushed their shame aside to blame the Federal govt for 'neglecting' the north. Under the nose of these elites; Parents send their kids/wards to bearded Mallams far away from their homes without knowing the character of these so-called teachers. Many of these Mallams are from desert/war-hit regions of Africa who only parade an average knowledge of the Quran as their educational qualification. These class of people are then deemed worthy to be entrusted with millions of children in a country as rich as Nigeria. Truth is bitter but it must be spoken; a strong attachment to archaic systems that accommodate pride and dictatorship has blinded the northern princes who are now finding it difficult to accept necessary changes. They can twist GEJ and even the world to draw attention to their 'plight' but discerning minds clearly see them for the defeatist hypocrites they are. |
ping pong: So Mr James Bond its that easy. Some of you are too dumb to recognise a rare offer of an insight into how certain things are done. print that comment, show it to any of your enlightened uncles and listen to his response. Dude! |
I introduced the bias? Facts: she is not a Muslim, she has a bag of garri, she has guns in the garri. These are the facts I stated in my OP! So whats the qualms. The other day, punch or vanguard reported a sensational headline which said, bomb factory found in kogi state, Kano road! Now tell me what that has got to do with the story, it could have been Lagos road, bayelsa road or even kinshasa road for all I care. But then you may answer me that 'well it was Kano road' and then I will say to you that 'well she was not a muslim' Dude stop the paranoia, I am only responsible for what I said, not what you think I meant.
Oh! So nuslim women don't transport or sell garri? You aren't living in Nigeria, I suspect so. Otherwise how could you have drawn such a naive conclusion. Go to Kabba, Kogi state, where boko haram has raided many banks lately and find out the religions of women selling garri in the market. Don't get red-faced and stammer gibberish because your attempt at insidious propaganda wasn't successful. Dude! |
TroGunn: This video proves nothing. We can't deduce the woman's religion, tribe, or even whether she's guilty or not. Also, We can't even conclude the uniform men are Govt soldiers or police. It could be a scene from Nollywood movie for all we know. Next story.Thank you. perhaps Mai-Suya would like to explain where he acquired his clairvoyant powers to tell who is a muslim or non-muslim by merely looking at their still or motion pictures. |
I just did a short survey of responses here: more than 50% were sympathetic to the woman ignoring her heinous crime, about 25% were indiffent or just prayed, whle less than 20% condemned her irrespective of the way she was treated. Now you can draw your own conclusion from the above. But I think most comments here are either biased or deliberately carlous. Imagine a woman caught transporting ammunition that will most certainly be used to kill innocent lives, and some are still here finding excuse for such inexcusable act. Yes the army were were heavy handed in treating her (so what! Sh.it happens) at least they were curteous enough to dress her wounds after the interrogation. When the jos cocin bomb went off, and the barbaric woshipers there killed one of their own unknowingly, some of these biased commentators were the ones singing good, kill those boko boys, without confirming if it was really them they were killing. Afterwards news came in at the lynched lad was actually a church member (some papers even alleging he was among the masterminds) but we will never know because of our failed journalism, failed justice system but even worst is the failed-brained audience we have in Nigeria.
You introduced the 'bias' with your reference to non-muslims being arrested with arms when you needed to have simply reported the arrest, followed by what the security men did. Don't play it clever with the above insidiously mischievous analysis. Only a dude could not see through to your veiled malicious grin as you typed those comments. |
She was probably hired and paid a huge sum of money by fulani militias who presently engaged in forceful ejection or killing of farmers in central Nigeria. Who else other than an innocent looking woman could successfully evade suspicion? She may have ran several trips b4 this one turned sour. |
logicboy: What/who is God? Is God a man or woman? Is God a source of evil since he is the source of everything?God has no form but those who believe He exists use the pronoun 'He' when they talk about 'Him'. God is the source of everything, yes! Evil is the choice of bad over good. God allows us to decide our destiny on earth through our freewill. He has however indicated to us the consequence of every choice we made, be it good or bad. No sane adult is unaware of the difference between bad and good. for example,if you used a machete to clear land for farming you have done good with it, but use the same machete to cut someone or destroy another person's property and you could be jailed for causing harm. So, depending on your concept of evil, this simple example answers your question in that regard. |
logicboy: Are you reading this? If yes, then you are using a computer. You strayed from your main question into another one by mixing God with religion. The question: "Where is God in our everyday lives?' alone is 'huge' enough to attract hundreds of pages in responses. One elementary mistake common to many is the belief that everyone who believes in God has a religion. Even what we call Christianity today did not start out as a religion. It is the human way of conceiving what is 'good' before God and the rules intended to keep believers from straying into what is 'bad' that have assumed the tag of 'religion'. And, if you had enough understanding of the word "GOD" you wouldn't make such statement; quoting different individuals who had/have no belief in God but had/have contributed much through inventions and other areas of human endeavours. For, God is the SOURCE of all existence! Would you then doubt that there has never been a source from which all existence came forth? This very SOURCE maintains and sustains all that exist till today. If these inventors and those you mentioned are parts of an existence that owes its coming into effect to this one SOURCE then God has everything to do with their/our everyday lives; because that SOURCE is GOD! |
Look i have said this before and i will keep saying it No one should underestimate the brainwashing power of religion. Religion was designed that way, it has been systematically inundated into humans from birth, its the only way of life they know. And u have to give the religious people a big hand, they are doing a good job in spreading it, (even before internet was available).
The topic is: 'Where is God in our everyday lives?' and not 'where is Religion in our everyday lives'. God is different from religion. Religion is a way of life adopted by those who believe in God, with rules intended to prevent adherents from straying away from what is thought to be right and good before God and humankind. God, on the other hand, is the Source of all that exist. I wonder how anyone could disprove this assertion; 'the SOURCE of all that exist'. So instead of attacking the 'concept' of God the religions, with their obvious defects which have thrown societies into horrendous tragedies over the centuries, should be the ones to face those raving heckling. |
kettykin: if the igbos get into this tiv/fulani war their fate will be worse than 1960 civil war, in 1960 there were tiv riots against fulani in benue, but the same tiv joined fulani to fight igbos when the civil war started, infact igbos were killed in makurdi in 1966YOU SHALLOW LIER! Who told you Igbos were killed in Makurdi in 1966? Many Igbos stayed with my father and conveniently put their houses in order before they left. Many of them came back and took possession of their property without going through any stressful process a few months after the civil war. Unlike you, those who cared to understand peoples and their attitude know that the Tivs are the must altruistic people in this country. You made such comments because you don't care even for the Igbos you pretended you belong to; otherwise how could you have ignored the death of hundreds of Igbos in recent times through boko haram bombs? For your information boko haram and fulani militias are one and doing different jobs towards the same goal! Dey there de yarn beside your shop. |
Firstly, blame successive military govts for emasculating the police by denying them basic tools and trainings that would have kept them growing and changing with the society. Instead, they made sure the police posed no threat to their coups, turning them into route-liners during visits to states by Nigerian military head of states, or even foreign leaders. Many of you on this forum were too small to notice what I'm stating here could ask your parents or uncles, and I'm sure those of them who hated what the Nigerian military did to this country would give you more details of how the hitherto efficient Nigeria police was reduced to the role of Boys Scouts by the various military governments of this country. Even so, the Nigeria police still maintains its efficiency when on missions in foreign lands; so that the UN demands its services anytime it needed the police in its numerous peacekeeping services world-wide. Secondly, blame our politicians; most of whom are of less than average-brain. They intimidate police commissioners, most of whom were promoted through the dubious quota system, into submitting to their whims and caprices, assigning police to their wives and kids. Policemen posted to political office holders became house boys, those who complained were transferred to the most harsh of places, that is if one reason or the other is not available to cause them more pains. Policemen lost most of their trained qualities under such circumstances, and Coupled with a poor remuneration, the worst in Africa till date, they became scavengers, hanging onto anything that could guarantee tomorrow's bread. Again, in order to appease the Agberos who rigged elections for them our politicians ensured such Agberos, most of whom are of dubious character, found their way into the police through the back-door. These are the boys fighting in uniform in public places and shamelessly begging for money on the highways and other public places. Nigerians are harvesting bad policing because of successive bad leadership, and to some extent bad followership. |
buzugee:Supposing the brother isn't in need and the pastor is already excluded from the plan, isn't there anyone else who is qualified to receive the tithe? Unless by the term "your brother" you referred to any human being who, in this case, is in dire need and is within the reach of the tithe giver. Atheists need to broaden their concepts of religions and their activities before they could attempt reasonable responses to such questions. I suspect you are an atheist. |
The Nigerian Government has turned Ghana into an ambassadorial dustbin. Ghana is where Nigeria sends trouble-maker-politicians, and the "We Pity You" one's go to. When Obanikoro was fermenting trouble in Lagos, he was thrown away to Ghana. Now Bianca is next. What does she know? Nothing. Who will give her respect? nobody. In 45-minutes time, she will be in Ghana. In fact, she can be coming home everyday after closing from work by 3pm." Did the Ghanian govt complain to you that Obanikoro proved inefficient in his job? What do you know about Bianca? Oh! according to your child-brain beautiful women are only good for the circuits and fashion magazines. It never occurred to you that CC Onuh and Chief Ojukwu must have prepared her for more difficult challenges than those of an ambassador. Abeg, be more constructive in your criticism. |
"Boko Haram attacks are not very effective again." If the the key word 'effective' in the sentence above excludes killing and destruction then you are right. Ah! |
UPDATES; Sixteen (16) persons have been confirmed dead in the attack on Kadarko. Though few other non-Tivs were killed, the attack was said to have mainly targeted Tiv farmers who had brought their farm produce to the market for sale. Although Calm is returning to the town, which is the biggest market in Keana LGA, palpable fear of further such attacks has gripped the people. There are also fears that the Tivs who are in majority in that town might respond. Speculation is rife that certain non-Tivs who have been identified as leading and pointing out the Tivs to the attackers might not be spared. The Nassarawa state govt could do well to prevent further bloodshed by a timely and firm intervention. |
Sadly true; 'na nigeria govt give dem power'. If not, how can such things contiued non-stop and, yet, govt remains silence? Gradually, nigeria is descending into a lawless state where every group must get arms to protect itself. The so-called northern governors never mentioned this fulani issue during their series of meetings; obviously because they own most of the cattle herds that room the hinterland. May be it cost less to buy arms for nomads to kill villagers and occupy their lands than to buy lands for ranches. |
Armed men suspected to be Fulani militants invaded Kadarko Yesterday, 08/03/2012, at about 7.30 pm. They used sophisticated arms during the shooting spree that lasted for about 30 minutes after which they hurried fled in a waiting bus towards Lafia. An eye witness, Terna Orngu, a Tiv farmer near Gidan Sule, close to Kadarko, whose younger brother was killed in the attack said the attackers targeted mainly Tivs, many of whom are refugees who had fled their villages to stay in the town because of sustained attackd by armed fulani herdsmen. As at the time of filing this report, six bodies, including that of a uniformed policeman, had been recovered. Kadarko is a commercial town in Keana local govt area of Nassarawa state, it is located along the ever-busy Makurdi-Lafia highway. Details will follow. |
@sayusuf; If you happen to visit this page again, I would suggest you read and take note of these facts: Ordinarily, human beings are tolerant of their fellows' different ways of life which do not harm their own ways of life also. But, newer concepts based on religious views have erected more barriers between fellow humans of various orientations than encouraged free social interaction. If, however, after the Tivs' and other tribes' objections to the imposition of foreign religious values on them, the Fulanis had taken it in good faith, the inherent human tolerance would have remained unaffected to be beneficially exploited among the people of this region, and, indeed, the entire Nigeria. Nevertheless. Middle Belt leaders like J S Tarka sought to build bridges by spearheading the "One Nigeria" call when he brought an individual from Borno state who contested and won election into the northern parliament under the then Tiv division.Within this period, Tarka, and indeed, the entire Tivs, received raving praises from all across the country for practically demonstrating their inherent altruism. Sadly, this gesture was soon misconstrued by political powers of the core north as an act of fear, or surrender. Tarka was frustrated and had to leave the NPC to form his political party, the United Middle Belt convention, (UMBC) To demonstrate his divorce from the Middle Belt/ Fualni political marriage, the UMBC formed alliance with Obafemi Awolowo's Action group (AG) from the West. The question is; why did J S Tarka abandon the Northern People's Congress, (NPC) a party he actively participated in its formation? The answer is simple: the religious-cum-political setup of the Fulani/Hausa Islamic north could not, and does not, accommodate independent-minded individuals, one either says yes to the decisions of the Caliphate's power brokers or get out. J S Tarka got out. During the build-up to the Second Republic, the Middle Belt sought to distance itself further from the Fulani/Hausa Islamic north by embracing political parties other than the metamorphosed NPC, which became NPN. The people of Plateau state voted for NPP, while J S Tarka's attempt to remarry his constituency to the Caliphate divided Tiv votes that could have given overwhelming victory to Paul Unongo's NPP. Well, some said J S Tarka paid with his life for dragging the Tivs back into 'the lion's den' having taken the Swem vow never to align himself with the Caliphate's political/religious structures again. It would be recalled that J S Tarka's departure from the NPC in the 1960s resulted to the Tiv riots, Atem Tyo, which lasted until the military coup of 1966. It was a tragic riot in which the NPC financed and instigated make-shift traditional rulers in Tiv land to fght their kits and kins who had moved en-mass to the UMBC, resulting to wanton destruction of lives and properties. Elsewhere in the far north, specifically Borno state, the 'Kanuri empire' also sought divorce from the Caliphate by dumping NPN for their own political party, the Great Nigeria People's Party-GNPP. under which Mohammed Goni was elected governor in 1979. So it wasn't the Middle Belt alone that sought severance from the Sokoto Caliphate within the north. The same set up is still in operation. During the horrible massacre of the Tivs in Nassarawa and Taraba states in 2001/2002 which led to further killings of the Tivs by the Nigerian army, General Gusau, a fulani/hausa man who was the security adviser to obasanjo, hide the real facts and trend of the crisis from the presidency and played on Obasanjo's megalomaniac personality to secure approval for the massacre of hundreds of Tiv men, women and kids by the army in cold-blood; it was a silent pursuit of the same murderous revenge against the Tivs by fulanis. No tribe in Northern Nigeria has been targeted for elimination the way the Tivs have been. Yet, the likes of JKN Waku would shamelessly read some idiotic scripts written by the Caliphate's leadership accusing President Jonathan of causing the emergence of boko haram in order to breakup the country. Where has Waku been since the resurgence of the fulani war on Tiv as recently as 1989/90; 2001/2002 and 2011 till date? @sayusuf, I would like to assure you that gradually but certainly the Tiv shall adequately respond to the fulani aggression since the federal govt seemed helpless, and has always over-looked fulani atrocities against farming communities, particularly in central Nigeria. , no doubt about that! If the fulanis refused to abandon the Fula primitive spirit of irresponsible wars, they should be prepared for another round of blood-letting which they are known for, and which had thrown this country into a needless civil war. And, since the fulanis have refused to buy land to establish ranches as is done elsewhere, their quest for capturing lands from farmers through massacres shall soon come to an end! Keep your ears/eyes open for what shall unfold! |
@LEXYLOV; 'nato and allies are invited'; to do what? To attend the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Putin? Speak out. |
The international community should expect the return of the Cold War era. Putin is a 'Chess player' who craftily carved a new Russia out of the post Soviet era of disarray in which he sought to reestablish a culture of firm and high-handed identity not far from the the Stalin era. The main similarity with the soviet era would come from his attempt to portray Russia as an 'equal' of the West, a prospect admired by hardline communists who have been forced to accept democratic changes but still dream of the superpower status of yester-years. We are likely to see a stronger alliance between Russia and China, to counter the US and its European NATO allies. With China's strong economic prospect, and a proclivity towards increased defence spending, coupled with the Same prospect from Russia, the world is in for a period of intrigues and suspense. And, with unpredictable Iran, Syria and others in the Middle East aligning with this new power-block, while on the other hand, as the Israelis continues to 'cry out' to the US and allies that they are facing extermination from a hostile Arab world, Putin's Russia is certainly going to make headlines for either slowing down or hastening humankind's movement towards World War III. We hope pride won't blind these key players from making vital compromises for a more humble and peaceful world. |
