Na who get Killi-we picture? ...so that we wey no know him go see am. |
So some people are hailing terrorist acts because they don't like Jonathan? No wonder they opposed GEJ' s "highhandedness" against BH in the early days of the insurgency when the sect could only hit and run with no hold on any town or village. Shameful! |
Dewze:Yes, it's Nigeria's problem created by the north. ...boko haram; fulani herdsmen. |
wirinet:So the petroleum minister stands blameless as money from sales of petroleum products disappears under his/her watch (?) And what about the Justice Irikefe report-was it not in respect of the $2.8billion that was missing under OBJ as the head of state and Buhari as the petroleum minister? |
sevule:"He basically accused her of LYING!" ...That's your attempt at mind-reading. Not good enough. Don't become what you ordinarily won't be because you like someone else and despise the other. There was no reason for her to run tantrums. |
kenrino:Boko haram has already visited me through the horrible things they are doing to fellow Nigerians. ...You sounded emotional. Try and get the sense of the general's response. |
kenrino:...and what was wrong with the advice given to her by the general? Must she complain after she was told it would be better to discuss such issues in private" Think! |
This Oby of a person got issues to sort out with her ego; what's wrong with advising her to make direct and private contact with the army considering her "privileged position"? Taking to twitter seems a kind of publicity stunt. |
One hopes Buhari deviates from the infamous "peace agreement" of the Fulanis who, after signing, go round to murder villagers in their sleep. |
glory2glory:You started well but ended poorly. Why justify such criminal acts with excuses of non performance? What is condemnable must remain condemnable. |
datribune:What context? Would you prefer that issues that stand out clearly on their own within a "context" be ignored? ... Hmm, so OBJ's failure to protect our secular constitution is now worthy of praise? An intelligent president would have foreseen the danger inherent in allowing the Sharia to take roots and promptly halted it before it could embolden fundamentalist elements to hold the nation hostage with violent ideologies. You can see what that "sagacity" of OBJ has led us into. One area I agree with you is that GEJ allowed himself to be misled into softness with BH by setting up committees to negotiate with the terror group and thereby allowing the sect to regroup and acquire more arms and training to terrorise Nigerians. Ironically those who pressured him into that mistaken move are among the people now calling for his head. ...GEJ is not "the most divisive leader", those who started the do-or-die "power shift" game cleverly caused this charged atmosphere we are now in. It's all about power shift. I'm sure if the north had exercised patience and cooperated with GEJ, all would have been quiet; the fight against BH would be a collective one. I see nothing wrong in allowing someone from the areas that produce the country's wealth to rule (for the first time) for two terms. Hold northern leaders responsible for our current security woes. |
datribune:I read: you said it took just days to dislodge maitatsine. Is that not comparing this prolonged fight against boko haram with maitatsine? Both the govt and the opposition have been painting each other as sponsors of BH terrorism. But try to recall how GEJ's govt came under attack severally from northern elders for "killing northerners". That should tell you why the fight fluctuated in the early days and allowed BH to prepare for what they are now doing. And what is the opposition's response to another news that BH has also endorsed Buhari? We must be careful in order not to fall prey to mischievous elements who enjoy creating confusion in the country. Yes, GEJ denied MEND's involvement in the Independent day bombing and that was silly, but what about those who declared that the military's attack on BH was an attack on northerners? If you are blaming GEJ for the lapses in the fight against terrorism do so with objectivity by examining the roles of other stakeholders whose cooperation could have no doubt ended the insurgency in its early days. Lets move away from partisanship into neutral ground and see if the faults are not truly shared by both the govt and those now calling for GEJ's head over boko haram. You said GEJ took advantage of the insurgency to set Christians against Muslims for political gains; what could be more coldblooded when that part of the country had been witnessing several Muslims vs Christians conflicts decades before GEJ joined politics? |
datribune:...your earlier brief comparison between BH and Maitatsine left me with no other option than to respond the way I did. And, come to think of it, you certainly intended to convince those who don't know the difference between the ancient maitatsine rioters and BH rebels to regard GEJ as too incompetent to disperse even a group of cudgel-bearing anarchists. It's my turn to say "don't try to reclaim lost ground through some glib moves by getting it twisted". ...It's tragically funny to say "GEJ saw the insurgency as an opportunity to rally his political base of support by pitching Xtians against muslims 4 political gains". I have never come across such a cold-blooded and barefaced attempt at hoodwinking. Tell that to those who know little or nothing about the psyche of hardcore fundamentalist clerics and their millions of almajiri followers in northern Nigeria. GEJ wasn't on seat when thousands of people trooped out into the streets of Kano and Gusau to celebrate the terrorist attack on the world trade centre in the USA in 2001. Maybe you don't believe in judgement after death. If you do you won't tell such lies! |
ayukdaboss:What was maitatsine, compared to boko haram? Would you call a rag-tag group who assembled in particular spots in the townships making themselves easy targets an intelligent and major fighting force? |
datribune:It's laughable to compare Maitatsine with boko haram: maitatsine assembled themselves in particular areas of the towns they lived and were, therefore, easily surrounded and overwhelmed. Even boko haram made the same "mistake" by confining themselves to a particular part of Maiduguri where they were dislodged within record time. Can you say the same of the now scattered and more trained BH who have also been receiving top military training in Mali, Chad and other countries? Praising those past govts for crushing those rag-tag maitatsine "neophytes" who holed up within specific places in town centres is like decorating a hunter for killing caged animals in the zoo. People ought to take note of the big difference. |

...Not only the military, Buhari destroyed the Nigerian police completely by disarming the Police Mobile Force which President Shehu Shagari and IG Sunday Adewusi trained and equipped and were rated the best in Africa. He caused the army to remove vital parts from the newly acquired APCs for the police and went on to close the Mobile Training School in Limankara near Gwoza. Over two hundred citron cars purchased for the police for highway patrol were also seized by the Buhari govt. Mobile policemen were asked to drop their traditional mobile uniforms and join their conventional colleagues as the Buhari/Idiagbon govt completely incapacitated the fighting force of the Nigeria Police. Some said he was irked by the professional efficiency displayed by Mobile Policemen when they swiftly moved out President Shehu Shagari from Aguda House when Military men attempted to arrest him (Shagari) during the coup that brought him (Buhari) to power. Shagari decided to surrender himself thereafter. Yes, GEJ is right in questioning Buhari to explain what he did with the defence budget of his twenty months old govt. The best military equipments available to the military from the time Buhari seized power to his exit were bought by the Shagari administration. I vividly remember how in one whole swoop the govt of Shehu Shagari bought twelve new Jaguar Jets from France for the Nigerian Air Force. ... This is the time to expose every strength and weakness of those seeking to lead us to enable Nigerians understand who they really are. Most of those shouting "Buhari! Buhari! Buhari!" were not born when he (Buhari) held this country captive with his archaic and brutal leadership style whose only appealing tone was the anti corruption "crusade". Remove the anti corruption tag from his neck and Buhari will shrink back centuries away from civilization and modernity. |
biodunid:Intelligent but weak excuse. |
Have Sahara Reporters ever hidden their support for any individual or group that antogonises this govt? |
...a bewildered generation watch with uncertainty as the threads that hold man's morality together sever one after the other. |
Geeweeny:They have been raiding quarries, and recently a cement factory in Ashaka, to get bomb making materials (explosives). Bomb-making is not as complicated as many would want to believe. There are surplus of chemicals in the country which could be used by these devil's agents .They even have links with foreign terrorist groups that could send "advisers" to them for free. |
Let Buhari call his rampaging fulani herdsmen to order now and we would trust his capacity to lead neutrally. Otherwise the fact that he once confronted a governor for not protecting fulanis in his state (Oyo) when placed side by side with his complete silence over ongoing massacre of farmers across the country by fulanis, particularly in the Middle Belt, exposes him as a fulani chauvinists who cannot be fair to others in matters involving his kinsmen. |
Hagon:Why are there no such issues in the southern borders? Only kids aren't aware of the antics of politicians in the the far north. |
synergycom19:Exactly! This is a man who led an angry team of prominent fulanis like general Buba Marwa,Alhaji Aliko Mohammed, etc to intimidate the then governor of Oyo state,Alhaji Lam Adesina, now late, over alleged attack on some herdsmen by some farmers around Oke. Buhari was said to have accused the governor of not doing enough to protect the fulanis in the state. It was after the commissioner of police and the director of SSS explained that fulanis were the cause of the problem that he (Buhari) sobered up and left with his team without taking the refreshments prepared for them. Since 2010, fulanis have been raiding communities across states like Kaduna,Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Taraba and parts of southern Bauchi to the deafening silence of general Buhari. These attacks are ongoing. Even today, 19/12/2014, fulanis attacked a Tiv village near Wukari, killed yet to be specified number of persons and razed down the entire village. This is coming three days after fulani militias invaded Agatu communities in Benue state and killed five persons. The same day they burnt down a huge Tiv village called Isha near Donga LGA in Taraba state, killed six persons and took away two vehicles. They were also active against Eggon farmers around Agyaragu area where one person was killed and many others escaped with gunshot wounds. All this is happening within the week.Hundreds of thousands of people from these state now have no homes. If general Buhari would rush to Oyo over alleged injustice against his kinsmen but has remained silent because the tribes, and not fulanis, are at the receiving end then he must not be voted in as President. Using GEJ's shortcomings to his advantage by keeping mute over an issue he once acted upon even though he wasn't the president is an insidious malevolence that can only escape the attention of the unwary. Buhari is a fulani chauvinist unworthy of trust to preside over affairs in a multi-ethnic society like Nigeria. |
omenka:If he could "act" when he was not the president to protect fulani interests then he has no justification to keep mute until he becomes the president before he can "act" to stop the fulani rampage. |
Built2last:Buhari is not only silent on how he intends to "stamp out corruption", he is also curiously silent over the fulani insurgency in the north cemtral. He rushed to confront late Lam Adesina for "not doing enough to protect fulani herdsmen" in Oyo state but has sealed his mouth ever since the fulanis began their massacre of farmers in the Middle Belt. Not many know the other side of general Buhari. |
dre11:... when Beroms and others surrender to the dictates of the Fulani Caliphate. Remember the beautiful Terminus Market was destroyed with explosives long before BH started their own campaign for an Islamic Caliphate. Two Caliphates are actually on the "prowl" in northern Nigeria. |
OBJ has become a "tragic dramatist". ...and he cannot be ignored. |
Ijebulogic:In the far north, they are brought in in trucks to register, whether its during census exercise or INEC registration of voters. Security agents must step! |
The Lord is your Shepherd. |
... I love this, ...hope such posts will become regular here. |
p3ndy79:One person registering "19 times" raises suspicion. Even if it is an internal thing of the APC, the party is not in No Man's Land where anything goes. There are laws regulating our conducts, even in our homes. Lets wait for the final outcome of the investigation. The "19 times" registration by one person ought to make the overzealous critics of the DSS' action a little bit more cautious. |
