Yoruba people have successfully alienated themselves. I think, EVERYONE in Nigeria is now against Yoruba people, or at the very least, don't trust a word that comes out of any of their mouths.

So which tribe from the south joined NPC MPs in voting for Balewa in the parliamentary in 1960?

Thank God you admit that Igbos shared their votes among NPP and NPN. How does that now change the fact that Shagari whom a part of Igbos voted for was the worst candidate on the ballot in that election?

In 1993 Tofa swept Igbo states clean. Google is your friend.

You agree you voted for Obasanjo in 1999. Now was Obasanjo the best candidate in the ballot going by the antecedents of all the contestants?

In 2007, was Yaradua the best candidate going by all the factors of determination?
Abiola had a chequered past, with ties to drug trafficking in the Americas. Obasanjo was better than that tribal champion you mentioned.

Yaradua was the only realistic candidate on the ballet, given the rotational system that was "supposedly" in motion. Though, that's all gone to crap with another Yoruba man emerging as president, and a tribal champion at that.

The age of Methuselah, the say, has nothing to do with the wisdom of Solomon.
If Igbos so much believe in democracy that they had been practising it for years as you claim, then how come the same Igbos were the first to truncate democracy in the history of Nigeria through the senseless January 15 1966 coup by which they shed so much blood of innocent politicians and military officers of other regions save theirs who were actually guilty of the very corruption they cited as the reason for the coup? So much for a democracy loving people. Hehehe.....
Did Igbo people truncate Nigeria's democracy or did the military do it? The fact that they were led by an Igbo man is/was irrelevant. The military did what it felt right, to rescue the country from whatever plight they thought was enveloping the country at the time.

The actions of the coup leader is no more a reflection of Igbo people, than the countless coups that occurred afterwards, by primarily Northern military officers. I don't see anyone blaming the entirety of the North for the actions of a few opportunistic military figures. No, that treatment is only reserved for Igbo people, along with all the other rationalisations people like yourself have, for just being an outright dreadful human being.

Why is it only Igbos that keep adopting every politician as their son? After adopting OBJ for promising to hand over power to an Igbo man but later disappointed you and picked a Fulani man together with an Ijaw man, wasn't that enough for you to stop your stupid adoption of other tribes' sons? You also adopted Yaradua a Fulani man. You think the other five regions are evil and foolish for not ever adopting a candidate not truly from their region? You Igbos are too frivolous and emotional hence always take stupid decisions which when they begin to boomerang, rather than admit your folly, you are resort to victim card play and term all other regions evil people as if there is any form of godliness in your own shortsightedness and frivolity. Continue adopting other regions' candidates and be deluding yourself as being godly. The truth is that Igbos are politically immature and unrealistic.
Igbo people have been practising the democratic process for more than a thousand years. Yoruba and Hausa are feudal peoples. How can you call Igbo people politically immature, when they have the longest experience with this process?

You don't see Igbo people giving out block votes, based on frivolous things, such as tribe. Instead, they always vote for whomever is the best candidate on the ballet. Yoruba and Hausa people are not there yet, but eventually, hopefully, with time, education and evolution of culture, they will get there. So that we can have good leaders in Nigeria, and not thieves and tribal champions like Tinubu and Buhari.

That is to tell you that Anambra and Igbos in general don't worship a mere politician that is even a people's servant.
Unlike other regions that believe politicians are god's to be feared .
If you do anyhow, you collect. Soludo I believe is smart, but I don't think he's a good person.
For him to be attacking Peter Obi just because of he's personal ambition, show's lack of leadership skills.
That's all this is about. Soludo's attack on Peter Obi. You guys trying to smear Soludo's administration, need to be honest with yourselves. Soludo is doing a good job as governor, far better than Obiano, in just 2 years.

Who cares about his moral character, as long as he does his job - he's not a celebrity. His job is to govern. Attacking another politician for ones own personal ambition is NORMAL. The problem is, the tenants of democracy only really exist in the South-East. Everywhere else in Nigeria, they treat democracy as a form of new-age feudalism.

Naira is bouncing back and everything is being done to fight the artificial spike but if you didn’t ask Buhari to return it to N300 (parallel market) where he met it in 2015 or you didn't ask Obasanjo to return it to N21, if you fear God, you should give Tinubu some breathing space before asking him to make it N780.

Don't die of hypocrisy.

It was N21 in 1999 before Obasanjo was sworn in and Obasanjo left it at N120-N125 in 2007. 104% fall.

In 2009, Yar’adua left it at N145-N171. Official and parallel market respectively
46% fall.

And by the time Jonathan was leaving in 2015, it was N199-N300.
129% fall.

By 2023 when Buhari left, it was N420 at official rate and N780 at parallel market.
480% fall.

Without floating it, it fell by 104% under Obasanjo: 46% under Yar'adua; 129% under Jonathan and 480% under Buhari...without floating it.

By 2027 when Tinubu will finish his term, it will be just and fair to rate his performance. You can go ahead and start to sell Toyota, the truth is what is posted above. Don’t come and be unfortunate by acting as if somebody did any good job with our exchange rate despite the volume of subsidy put into it.

In conclusion, I have seen that President Tinubu is all out to fix that problem once and for all but it will be a long battle. Binance has been deactivated and fined. Illegal BDCs are finding it difficult to operate while over a thousand have been deregistered among other decisive steps and going by the number of BDCs Emefiele registered and a lot of economic criminalities known to us all, one won't be surprised at how it fell by 480% between May 29, 2015 and May 29, 2023 despite its non floatation.

South-South didn't exist in the 60s. It was created after, as a means of keeping Igbo people in Nigeria. That's the ONLY reason the zone exists today.

Well Gowon is still alive, healthy and bubbling in good health, while Ojukwu the war lord has long ago passed to the other Side.
And Gowon is older than Ojukwu.
Irony of life.
Gowon lived long enough to see the fruits of his labour, to witness his people being slaughtered by the very people he committed genocide for.

Stop spreading lies, the Unitary System was created by Yakubu Gowan. But either way, neither were representations of their people. That's just the nature of the military, to make rash decisions, without thinking about its long term consequences. Just look at Burkina Faso and co, trying to leave ECOWAS, a free trade zone; a ridiculously boned-headed move, but that's the military, that's why they should never be in power.

ChimaAdeoye:
There are currently two prevailing schools of thought in Igboland: one advocating for a return to our traditional roots and ancient way of living, while the other proposes mimicking Western countries entirely, from methods, infrastructure designs, and ideas to culture.

In my view, the truth lies somewhere between these extremes. There are instances where embracing Western ideas and concepts is beneficial, just as there are times when blindly copying them proves unwise.

Personally, I always consider the cost implications of any proposal. It's essential to weigh the cost-benefit ratio when discussing initiatives. For example, having lived in New York for many years, I witnessed the city complete major projects like flyovers within just 2 or 3 months. Initially, I attributed this efficiency to Nigeria's lack of seriousness until I delved into their budget.

a. The 2024 budget of New York City , is $107 billion , for its 8.5 million residents! For those who don't know, the City of New York is just an LGA in the state of New York. It is like saying the City of Ikeja in Ikeja LGA of Lagos state.

b. Nigeria's 2024 budget , even with all its excesses, amounts to $34 billion for 225 million people.

c. Anambra's 2024 budget is a mere $280 million (#400 billion naira), serving a population of 6-9 million people. To put this into context, the City of New York Fire Department's 2024 budget is $2.3 billion! (i.e. just Fire Brigade funding for New York City is larger than the budget of all north central and southeastern states combined!)

These figures should tell us something when we are proposing ideas about what is obtainable abroad that should be in Nigeria. Unless you pause for a moment to do a cost-benefit analysis, you will be wasting time. Now some proposals are fine, but in a country where almost everything is lacking, you almost wonder what to spend the precious little resources on to drive economic development and what to leave for later. Of course, many Nigerians don't care about these figures because we have lived in a country where politicians do nothing but steal public resources. Yes, these financial figures underscore the critical importance of distinguishing between feasible initiatives that can be adopted without significant financial strain and those that are unrealistic, considering Nigeria's resource constraints and pervasive corruption among politicians. It does not make sense to demand why a starving man is not clean-shaven and did not buy soap to wash his clothes when he has an even greater priority - addressing hunger.

Gov. Soludo is trying his best with the few resources available. Many of us bad-mouthing him from the sidelines cannot perform what he is doing if we are made governors now. Of course, many of them have never forgiven him for the regrettable letters he wrote at the early stages of his administration. I also tongue-lashed Soludo all over social media including sending him tweets demanding why he should distract himself with national politics, especially after the second letter. Instead of facing the enormous work he was elected to do for the Anambra people. But if Peter Obi himself came out and hugged Soludo, and asked us to forgive the argument among brothers, why should we hold on to that grudge and therefore refuse to acknowledge the good that Soludo has been doing since then?
I'd just like to add, as it refers to revenue base, that the primary issue here, is taxation. Nigeria has a very large economy, the problem is, no one pays any tax. In Anambra, the revenue generated from tax is laughable, despite the state being private sector led.

In the West, we're taxed for literally EVERYTHING, and payment of these taxes are well-enforced. Unlike with Soludo, who was pleading with his people to pay, in the UK, the government will simply take you to court, then repo your possessions, if you don't make your mandatory payment(s).

Omanambala:
You summed it up.

Bottom line is we dont want to pay taxes yet we cry about lack of development. The mentality of the average Onicha trader is very backward. Even the industrialists are owing Anambra state billions in taxes.

For Anambra to develop where we could see tarred roads without sand dunes, underground drainages, refuse free streets, green vegetation everywhere and clean air we must educate our people and they must respect their environment and join in keeping it clean , civil and organized.

We are not ready and I dont think Soludo understand these issues I outlined.
Soludo is a VERY intelligent man. He understand these issues. People just need to understand, that building roads and streets, isn't the ONLY task of a governor. He has to multitask, work on water, power, industrial and a litany of other things. While building roads and sensitising the population.
