AuthorMan: Even if Biafra emerges Obi will never be allowed to rule. Don't miss understand me o. I am Yoruba but a supporter of Obi. Greed and lack of unity will not make them allow him. Some will say it is Kanu, some will say it's Obi. So, there is going to be division.
By the way, how many Nigerian States are ready to go with Biafra? Or you think Ipob can force any group of people to join them.
This issue is more than what guys think. There is more to it than thought of now. Why don't you just say "you don't want Igbo people to leave" instead of writing this bile? |

teejay29: if you want your own country there is a way to go about it through referendum, violence will not solve anything, you will just get yourselves killed like those in 1966. Isn't that what IPOB has been calling for, for the past couple of years. Referendum, referendum, referendum. Those people are just common criminals, not IPOB. Tagging every criminal IPOB in an attempt to demonise an ideology is pointless. You can't fight the wind, just as you can't fight IPOB. |

wonder233: The jubilation expressed here by the those commenting above isn't because the declared candidate will work better nor because the sacked one is not working. In fact, they don't know either candidate. The jubilation is strictly about tribal hate.
Our politicians are the luckiest in the world. They know they don't need to work for the masses, because the masses are not interested in that. What the masses of Nigeria want are tribal and religious triumphs. So they feed them full dose. The masses don't care if they starve, die or their kid's futures mortgaged, what matters is tribal pride. Is the black man not a sub-human like this? That is a Nigerian phenomenon, and it's only exclusive to two regions of the country (North and South West). North Central, South East, South South, don't have that mentality. |

drsteroid: I pray Governor Otti scales this judiciary huddle because he has given Abia state a new breath of Life. A country where the judiciary who ought to be at the pinnacle of fighting corruption is the grand master of corruption will definitely find it difficult to move forward. Ahmed Lawan whose name wasn't Apc's senatorial flagbearer in his state is presently a senator, no thanks to our corrupt and comatose judicial system and their frivolous technicalities. The judicial system of every country is the key to strengthening development and stability. These developed countries hinged strongly on their strong and unbiased judicial system. The judicial system is from amongst the people. If you're governors are corrupt, your senators are corrupt, your president is corrupt, then you're lawyers will be corrupt. Democracy is about "power to the people". It's up to the people to determine what they will and will not tolerate. If you just sit around doing nothing, but talking, then the injustice will persist forever. |

I have been saying about it for a long time even someone attacked me that I'm jealous of Anambra that I should go to my backward Imo state with my suggestions he forgotten that we all are in Igboland that if Anambra get it right Imo will emulate Anambra. What I understand is that our people have embraced mediocrity. Open drainage in a society that doesn't understands the value of clean environment and our leaders always think that it is cheaper to construct open drainage yes it meant be cheaper but it is penny wise pond foolish. I also understand that underground drainages are expensive to maintain but we can use slab system just like the picture below That spacetour guy is NOT Igbo, so just ignore him. No Igbo person is saying you can't speak on Anambra. Any Igbo person can make an observation on the state of Igboland. The road construction thing is more of a Nigerian culture issue, of quantity over quality. Governor's build roads without drainage because they're cheaper, which means they can build more of them. It's up to the people to make their feelings heard. Let the governors know that cheap roads will no longer be acceptable. |

Politics › Re: Suggest A NEW System Of Government For African Nations by rdokoye: 10:35pm On Aug 30, 2023 |
Democracy doesn't work, because a certain level of sensitisation must take place first. African societies are too backward - they must evolve first and foremost. The people must understand that their governors are there to serve them. That their president is a reflection of their society, and that power belongs to them, and not the politicians.
Without true understanding of the democratic process, everything else becomes pointless.
As far as other systems are concerned. The Western system is the only system that will achieve the kind of success and development Africans desire. |

Ibrahimcoomasie: Having witnessed all. Coup d'etat is worse.
You can fight a rigging case in court as shown below; however, the judiciary doesn't exist in Military government. What you have is martial law. If that were the case, then it would have happened, long ago. You need courts to be able to fight rigging. Most countries in Africa, don't have any courts. The courts they have, exist in name only - there's no independence. Nigeria is unique in that regard. |

That's the only way to end all terrorist activity. Guns and bullets can only do so much. Boko Haram is as a result of failed governance. Your cesspit senate voted against and rejected the war in niger republic? Who gave the drug lord the power he is flexing now against niger? Isn't your senate no longer the people's representative? Well, what am i even saying when i know that the cesspit does not have any law, talk-less of representing it's laws. Nigeria isn't going to war against Niger, ECOWAS is, which Nigeria is a member state of. If ECOWAS declares war on Niger, then Nigeria has two options, the first is to abide by it, and the second is to leave ECOWAS. Either way, the actions of ECOWAS in now way, violates any laws or procedures Nigeria might have on this issue. |

Workch: no it doesn't. If you consider the revenue from oil proceeds, how much is been spent on federal projects visavis what we generate from non-oil sector and state allocation, you will realize that it doesn't. We can briefly do the mathematics.
I don't hate southsouth, as a matter of fact, my own cla of Igbo originated and migrated from southsouth so we are brothers and sisters but they need to be wise.
They are using them like toilet paper, when you have gone beyond your usefulness, which is Oyel, you will be discarded and flushed. It's the truth. Southsouth is to heterogeneous to even start a country to start with, if that oil dries up, Southsouth will run to igbos for cover because they will be treated the way minorities in northcentral are treated now. The 13% derivation ensures they get the vast majority of the oil revenue. That they choose to spend $100+ million on a football stadium, instead of its people, is their problem, and no one else's. You can't blame the North for that. Have you seen the kind of projects that are implemented in the South South? Massive flyovers, despite not having the traffic to justify it. Expensive golf courses, in the mist of poverty. A skyscraper in the middle of nowhere - the leadership in the South South is poor. Simple. What happened to Tinapa and all the things Donald Duke set in motion in Cross River, for example. |

Curious345: My take
1- they listened to the 98% who opposed the war .
2- Tinubu didn't want to squander the ₦1 trillion saved from subsidy on a war.
3- they are scared of the wider consequences.
4- they are scared of proxy wars (Niger can decide to supply arms to iswap and Boko haram) .
5-lack of a consensus for action within the ranks of ECOWAS .
6 poor troop morale .
7- Wagner factor .
8- alliance of Guinea ,Mali and burkina Faso with Niger .
9- refugee crisis.
This is a needless war that should have never been contemplated .. they better back off Attacking Niger would be a mercy. The sanctions are what people should really be focused on. Niger has lost 70% of it's electricity, a no-fly zone has been setup, so no one can fly in or out of the country, and the borders have been shut. Which means, imports and exports have ceased. Niger is effectively dead in the water. And all of this, for the simple ambitions of one man. The real reason General Tchani struck, is because President Bazoum was set to reform the military command - which would have led to him being forcibly retired. He simply ceased the moment; using anti-colonist rhetoric to garner the support of the masses. Which, in reality makes him a hypocrite, as he's been working with these same "colonizers" and "oppressors" for decades. |
