Igbo people are vastly superior business people to Northerners and any other ethnic group in Nigeria, that's not in doubt or up for discussion, even foreigners will confirm that.

Forbes billionaires list, most of the wealthiest Northerners got to their positions through corruption; and Dangote got to his position thanks to Obasanjo.

Show us the products you Northerners make, your computer companies, mobile phone companies, food companies, clothing companies etc... Northerners don't make anything, now you've made me laugh lol, just answer my question.

As far as the North goes, we know it's home to one of the poorest demographics on earth. Borno State has a 80% poverty rate, Northern Nigeria is home to more children out of school than anywhere else on the planet. Northern Nigeria harbours two of the deadliest terrorist groups on the planet, with a ridiculously low literacy rate, especially for women, which labours around the 30% mark, that means up to 70% of Northern women can't read, write or speak intelligibly in English.

You people don't allow us to do anything, the Nigerian Constitution allows us to live and work in the dusty North.

And I am something, at least to me, maybe not to you, which would explain your peoples penchant for killing of non-Northerners.

In your previous post you said the East was the most hostile, now you're saying nothing happened to you while you were there. Which is it, were the people hostile or not? What did they do to you, to give you that impression?

I'm not surprised you'd feel much safer in the North and the South-West, you guys have massacred so many innocent Easterners that the thought must reign on your mind while in the East.

It's like how, some white people feel uneasy when around black people; it's the thought of all the bad things white people have done to black people, and the feeling that you (as a black person), may in some way retaliate.

All these Igbo people are doing, is filling voids, Northern markets are virtually non-existent due to minimal private sector presence in the region. So Igbo people move in, and sell essentials...you know what that means, right?

Anyone could make money in the North, all it requires is an education, capital and the work ethic. Igbo people remain in the North because they make a ton of money there, not because the people are accommodating.

I honestly do not think you even know what the word means.

For example, an accommodating gesture would be, when Obiano set up a commission for conflicts between Fulani Herdsman and Igbo people, in his state. Compensating both parties when property and/or live stock are harmed.

Give me an example of such gestures in the North.

What does that have to do with being accommodating, is Nigeria not a country? Igbo people that travel to other parts of Nigeria are simply exercising their rights as citizens of Nigeria, nothing more. Their achievements are their own, not yours. If an Igbo man goes to Kano for example, and makes a lot of money, that achievement is due to HIS hard work and not the accommodating nature of those around them.

Accommodating people don't issue quite notices to their own citizens and threaten to murder them and steal their businesses, simply for honouring their dead during the Nigerian-Biafra war. Accommodating people don't carry out pogroms on non-indigenous people in their lands, and accommodating people don't impose their culture on others.

Northerners live in the East, in Anambra for example, and they're allowed to follow their faith without molestation, compare that to the number of churches burnt down in the North, in the past decade, or the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims.

I'm Igbo and I have visited Kano, at first I always took the north to be one backward region, although they have their flaws, I was impressed with what I saw and it changed my impression about the North. I'm also happy with the developmental projects I see here, I must commend the efforts of the state government.

Igbos here should stop making mockery of us, stop the hate and keep your emotions aside, Northerners are not all savages like you think, there are really nice and accommodating ones.

Yes, but Nigeria pays for ECOWAS and accounts for 75% of the ECOWAS economy. Morocco wants to join ECOWAS so it can gain access to the Nigerian market. So how can you say Nigeria doesn't have the biggest say?

If Morocco joins ECOWAS, then the EU will be able to access the ECOWAS market, something they've been unable to do, since Nigeria refused to sign the EPA. The EU will be able to setup shop in Morocco and flood the ECOWAS market, killing pretty much all the industries in Nigeria. Thousands of Nigerians will lose their jobs...is that what you want?

What nation or groups of people, make decisions that are against their own best interest? Nigeria gains nothing from Morocco joining ECOWAS, but Morocco gains a whole heap from its admission; so their behaviour makes sense, all those nations considering it, i.e. smaller African nations, they're fine, because they have no interest in industrialising, whereas Nigeria does.

The report is fake, Morocco wasn't discussed at the meeting, the agreement in principle was established 6 months ago. Since that time, there has been silence. ECOWAS was supposed to conclude Morocco's accession in November, then it was pushed to December, now it's been pushed to 2018.

ECOWAS don't look keen on Morocco anymore, because of the economic implications it'll have on Nigeria, primarily.

It's not an argument, it's facts. Northern Nigeria is one of the poorest regions on earth; as a region, it's not preparing for anything, and would become a global humanitarian case, in the event that Nigeria were to split up.

How many people is that rice mill going to employ? What about the millions of beggars roaming the Northern streets? The children hooked on glue? The terrorists, constantly destroying what limited infrastructure that exists in that region? What about the ridiculously low literacy rate? The university admission rates? There are more University graduates in Imo State than in every state in the North combined? Education is the foundation of Western capitalist, and the North is currently found wanting in that department.

Ndi Igbo are busy shouting restructuring while south east governors are wasting time. South East governors should gear their efforts towards industrialization.

Our IGR is poorest in the south yet we are shouting restructuring up and down. The north is getting ready for it by establishing industries.


South West and some parts of South South have massive industries, which explains why their IGR is biggest in the south. The east seems to be the only region taking first position from behind.

Northern Nigeria is immensely poor, especially North-Eastern Nigeria, which has some of the highest poverty rates on earth. I think, Borno State, prior to the Boko Haram menace had 90% of its people living below the poverty line, so potential recruits are literally EVERYWHERE.

Northerners are only interested in what they can get out of Nigeria, in fact, ALL Nigerian's are only interested in what they can get from the nation, whether they be Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa-Fulani.

Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani people are the only groups that currently benefit from being in Nigeria, the Yoruba's benefit by having Lagos situated in their land, and the North enjoys by from having a constitution that benefits them to the detriment of the nation at large.

If you remove these two benefits, i.e. give Lagos special status and alter the constitution, then both groups Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani people would quickly join Igbo people in their clamour for their own sovereign nations.

In a country where there's no real sense of patriotism, if you have ask yourself, why, for example, a Yoruba person can be an advocate for the unity of Nigeria, but at the same time, hate Hausa people, or hate Igbo people, it's because he/she is only looking at Nigeria from what he/she benefit from it.

Nigeria is so messed up

Nigeria has never been a nation that's inspired a sense of patriotism in this citizenry. It's always been what it is now, a nation of nations. With different people climbing and clawing at each other for a peace of the national cake. Nigeria will never be USA, because unlike USA, Nigerian's have different values, whether you're in the North, East or West, the value systems change and to a certain extent are at odds with one another.

Obasanjo's behaviour can be interpreted two ways, the first, that he's a advocate of the current system because he benefits from it and the second is that, he's simply an inept leader. I personally think it's a combination of the both, but I'm leaning more towards ineptitude than status quo advocation.

What he's saying is tantamount to a nation suffering from a crime wave, and people clamouring for increased security, improved security, new security policy etc, then Obasanjo comes out and says "we don't need an improvement in our security apparatus, we just need a change of our mentality, stop doing crime and crime will stop".

It's so infantile and ridiculous. Corruption is at the epic-enter of everything Nigeria stands for, because the Nigerian system encourages it. If you want to minimise corruption you have to dissuade people from engaging in it. In countries like China, they have a death penalty for corruption, of course that wouldn't be practical in Nigeria, where almost everyone engages in the practice, but it's just to illustrate a point, that if you do not want people to engage in a certain set of behaviours, if you have to implement structures that dissuades such behaviours.

If you have a football team that has a disciplinarian problem, what do you do? Do you tell people "behave well" or do you issue fines to people who get yellow and/or red cards? Which is more effective?
