It's so easy to get your independence,if you are really interested in independence.you will get referedum easily if you vote and support a Yoruba candidate, you will get referedum easily.but you like this system and benefit from this system and want it to remain of course you don't know what the ohaneze ndigbo is always doing .
Vote and support which Yoruba candidate? Yoruba people have ruled Nigeria. How exactly do Igbo people benefit from this system, we're underrepresented in the government, despite our educational attainment and capabilities.

No ethnic group has banded together, people have learnt over time, okay, just watch again the national assembly elections coming up soon, and watch igbo vote against the Yoruba choice of candidate.watch and observe ,you will never support what we want.you were the reason why we have been in this Union for long ,you always work for northerners and have never been in opposition.instead of building networks so that we can free from the hausa fulani hergemony created and supported by the British, you continue to make wrong moves politically.just watch,am certain does your house of rep member will go against our plans.i lready see an igbo woman making some noise .
The current President is a Northerner with a Yoruba Vice-President. Buhari won 50% of the Yoruba vote, and less than 5% of the Igbo vote, yet to proclaim that we support the North.

All the ethnic groups in Nigeria have worked together to suffocate Igbo interests. Yoruba people have proven time and time again, that their driven exclusively by self-interest, so much so, that they can be short-sighted at times.

If the Hausa-Fulani hegemony is an issue for Yoruba people, why did Yoruba people create the hegemony? APC was created by Yoruba people, Buhari was chosen as the flagbearer by Yoruba people, and Buhari is the President today, because of the Yoruba vote.

Nigeria will survive without the igbos , definitely, you don't contribute to Nigeria,Bonny island ,and Southwest is where the money is really coming from ,look at the current internally generated revenue, you could see you were struggling with gombe and the rest and you beat your chest.ogun state has the highest number if industries in one place at a time and contributes 20% .why don't you people have so much factories despite your business acumen?ask yourself.i thought nnewi and aba will increase your revenues.you have been travelling abroad you see those branded shops sell does things you sell, and they are genuine and not fake. This is 2019,and we don't need second hand cloths any more,so that we can develop our textile industries .
There are hundreds of factories in Igboland, the difference between the industries in Igboland and the industries in Ogun, is that the industries in Ogun State are owned by multinationals, whereas in Igboland, they're owned by Nigerians.

Igbo people actually manufacture and create their own products, with hundreds of different companies. Ogun State is a product of its locale. It's situated right next to Lagos, with less of its problems (traffic congestion, costs of housing etc), so some multinationals choose to setup there.

Nigeria has an underdeveloped tax system, with many indigenous business owners operating in the informal sector. That's why the money they generate isn't really felt by the state itself.

Nigeria will not survive without Igbo people. No need to be prideful. That's why you would never support Biafra.

The most friendly ,welcoming and accomdating people are yorubas. After the civil war ,it was the only tribe that allowed you access to start all over again.they accomdate you, supported you, while the ones that went up north were rejected and killed.you set up businesses, unmolested,I have been to the east, the most welcoming out of you people are in owerri, the rest are not welcoming and treat foerigners badly.that is why people invest in the Southwest, because friendly people make your investments secured.you igbos started to change the perception of people when they have been a continuous trend from you people.you don't support the political aspirations of people that accomdated you or where you live .you always on the opposite side.so the reason why igbos go out of their place and settle is because of poverty and survival,to be successful.
So, Yoruba people are more accommodating, because they didn't steal that which did not belong to them? That's setting the bar a little low, wouldn't you say?

What exactly happened to you when you were in Igboland? Don't tell fibs now. Igbo people are very welcoming people, that's not in dispute. There are NEVER any ethnic conflicts, pogroms or disputes between different ethnic groups, in our land.

The reason why we go to other parts of Nigeria, is because we're Nigerian. Nigeria is our country. The reason why Yorubas remain in Yorubaland is because of fear, lack of business acumen and because of their general unaccommodating nature - it's called projection.

Stop being dishonest, all ethnic groups in Nigeria are bigoted. Igbo people are definitely more open minded than most, that's why we live in every region of the country.

You're attempts to demean Igbo people, with deceit and lies, will not work. Nigeria cannot survive without Igbo peolpe, that's why every ethnic group in the country has banded together to ensure we don't leave the country.

If and when Igbo people do eventually leave, you'll see how quickly Nigeria fragments into many different nations.

That's what happens when people are voted into office based on sentiment, instead of competence. Only in Nigeria could Buhari beat Goodluck Jonathan, a man with a PhD, losing to a man without any qualifications.

Nigeria's dire economic situation is due to Buhari, the oil prices are very high, yet, economic growth is still stagnant. This will be the hallmarks of his administration: deflections to mask his incompetence.

Mr man the reason you people are frustrated and always attacking the north as an expression of your frustration is the fact that you can not rule and dictate the affairs of Nigeria. That is the reason of your frustration and that is why I ve been highlighting to you and your co Biafrans engaging me here that you people had the chance to manage Nigeria but you messed it up due to greed and tribalism Which indicated that you lack the characteristics to lead a multi ethnic country like Nigeria. You can only lead yourselves in Biafra.
It's a survival of the fittest , if you got what it takes to lead Nigeria bring it on. But what is the reality? The reality is You don't have it, hence your resort to attacking the north. Forgetting that your leaders, Governors and the rest are worst than most northern states leaders and Governors.
What is with you and rulership? How does Buhari's tenureship affect your life? Rulership isn't important, what's important is the policies put in place. If Buhari is in office, and he decides to appoint competent heads, then no one will care, especially not any Igbo person.

Northern Nigeria is very poor, so your emphasis should be fixated on that, not on who rules. Life is serious, so get serious with it. Think about how you can tackle the Boko Haram issue, the educational gap, the Fulani Herdsman and the land dispute. Focus on that.

As far as the North ruling, I don't really care. Most Igbo people actually like Northerners, so no, we're not frustrated by you guys.

It's fear, the other ethnic groups don't want Igbo people to rule, because we already dominate every sector of the Nigerian economy, and the impression is, that we'll make everyone certified slaves, if we have total control over the country. But that's what happens, when you put people, who are completely different from one another, in the same country.

Our ethics, our goals, our ambitions, our mentality, it's all different.

British left a military filled with lots of your people , go and check history. After independence most of the top military officers were Igbos , the question is - how did you manage that advantage? What did you do wrong that northerners to over? This highlights the fact that youu people lack the qualities to lead a multi ethnic country like Nigeria. You are too greedy , I can easily buy your conscience with money.
Most of them were murdered during the counter-coup.

Nothing you write makes any logical sense. If Northern Nigerians are such great leaders, shouldn't that be reflected in the North. Why is Northern Nigeria so poor? You've had the reigns of power longer than any other region, you've created a economic system that benefits your land, to the detriment of all others, and you guys outnumber both the West and East, in pure numerical terms. Yet, despite that, Northern Nigeria is potentially a humanitarian crisis waiting to happen.

Where are these enduring attributes that you speak of? This great leadership, this selflessness, this morality. Northern Nigerian leaders have proven that they'd rather keep their own people poor and destitute, so that they can use them as foot soldiers during elections and as thugs, to intimidate dissenting voices.

Look at Boko Haram, isn't that how they came into being? Who gave them weapons? Where is the Boko Haram in the East, if we're so unethical, according to you? Eastern Nigeria has the lowest crime rate in Nigeria; so you're simply deluding yourself, and for what?

But some of you people are honest business people. But you claim you are educated and advanced, how come Almajiri is devising a federal allocation formula for you? What does that tells you? Are people not weak and toothless?what is holding you from devising your formulae if you can. Are we not in this same country?
The Nigerian Constitution was drawn up by the military. All it shows is that Northern Nigerians are most, in the military.

Just look at your land, Borno has a 90% poverty rate. The entire north has a 35% literacy rate. There's a huge gulf in living standards when comparing my land to yours. If you guys were smart, that obviously wouldn't be the case, would it?

Niger Deltans will deal with you if you attempt to get close to their oil just as you are attempting to claim oil in Kogi State.
When have you ever heard an Igbo man or woman claim oil? LOL

Oil doesn't interest us; a good business climate is what interests the vast majority of us, and you know that.

Northern Nigerians are the ones that created the renters economy, they're the ones who depend exclusively on its proceeds. They're the ones that devised a federal allocation formula based on LCs, then inflated the number in their land.

We as Igbo people are known for our business acumen, our ingenuity and our industrious disposition. The North on the other hand is known for NOTHING - outside of terrorism and religious intolerance.

When you guys get your own country, it'll function, no better than Niger.

Yep, is that why your people got so mad over the support the Biafra Movement is getting, that they threatened every Igbo person in their land, even going as far as to say they'd take their properties and businesses. How disgraceful and embarrassing is that.

Get off your lazy arses and work, fix your land. When Nigeria splits up, Northern Nigeria will become the poorest nation in the world. No one will want to venture into your war ravaged land.

Situation in the north is bleak yet most Igbos in the north can't go home due to the situation in your region.
The north is ruling you because you people don't have what it takes to rule else what have you been doing about the fact the north is ruling other than crying of marginalization everyday. It is weak people that keep crying of marginalization everyday. Strong people lead and take decision. You claim you are advanced and educated yet you keep crying crying of marginalization everyday.
When Igbo people eventually leave Nigeria, Northern Nigeria will be like Niger, where all your kin currently preside.

Isn't that an odd one, as a Hausa person, wouldn't you rather live with your Hausa brethren in Niger, than with people you don't understand?

I know if Igbo people existed in another country, our sole objective would be in restoring our land.

This just illustrates how desperate you guys are, to live amongst us. Igbo people were not put on this earth to take care of you, that's your responsibility. So focus on that, the future of your land. Not, who's more likeable.

In a nation of mostly have-nots, the haves will always stand out more than everyone else. Igbo people don't trouble Yoruba's in Yorubaland, they don't trouble Northerners in the North, but we get your attention, simply because of our work ethic.

What you've written makes little sense. Isn't Yorubaland a part of Nigeria? You can't regulate where Nigerian people can and cannot go within their own nation. How would you like it, if white people barred Yoruba people from entering New York or Hollywood. I'm pretty sure you'd be screaming racism, and talking about how evil white people are.

But everyday you guys keep writing bullshits that north is dragging up backwards, north this north that. Like it was the only northern people that are responsible for the situation. Is it not the elites that are responsible ? and those elites include both South and North. Was the first military coup that destroyed the regional government that set the foundation for subsequent coups lead by a northerner?
It's not just Igbo people, that's the general feeling amongst all Nigerians, whether in the West, Middle Belt or South-South. So there's no point trying to pin it on us.

That said, Northern Nigerians are responsible for ruining the country - that's a fact. It doesn't mean all Hausa people are inherently bad, and lying to yourself is going to change the facts.

Northern Nigeria is one of the poorest regions on planet earth, with poverty rates in the high 70%+ and a literacy rate around 32% percent. It's also home to two of the deadliest terror groups on the planet (Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsman), and houses the largest number of children out of school, and the largest number of children hooked on solvents, in the entire world. I could go on and on about the malaise in the North, but I won't.

The situation in the North is bleak, and your dissonance isn't helping.

Sometimes i really do wonder what the west (Yoruba) actually want for their future generations...whether they want their children to inherit the very same mess we’re all dealing with today!? I ask this because, besides a few reasonable ones like Ayo Adebanjo, Yinka Odumakin and Femi Fani-Kayode, the rest don’t seem bothered about trying to wrest control of their destiny from the hands of the northern oligarchs....they’re either sitting on the fence or just couldn’t care less!

Awo said words to the effect that if Biafra is allowed to leave that the Yoruba wouldn’t stay behind to continue doing ‘one Nigeria’ with the north! Does this mean the Yoruba (who are more than able to be a nation-state in their own right) feel they can only survive as a people if the east (or maybe Igbos) share the same country with them?
There's a lot of uncertainty when dealing with one's own nation state. There's no real way to gauge how successful or unsuccessful a Yoruba or Igbo nation will be, thus, belief is required.

Nigeria as it currently exists is measurable, and people tend to lean towards something, that's at the very least, predictable.

I wouldn't necessarily say, Yoruba people feel they cannot survive without the East, because I don't believe that to be the case. I just think, it's a case of taking the path you know, or at the very least, the one unshrouded.

That said, Lagos is Yorubaland, and it's currently receiving a lot of attention, a lot of investments, businesses, and wealth is directed there. So there is an incentive for Yoruba people to cling to Nigeria. Whether you see Lagos as Yorubaland or no-man's land is irrelevant. Yoruba's outnumber everyone else, by a considerable margin, and in turn, control the tides of its development.

Living in a Nigeria with just the North as companions would have just as much uncertainty as forming your own country, so why remain one; if Igbo people leave Nigeria, there would no longer be an incentive for the other groups to stay united, and, although many Igbo people may have a positive outlook in the formation of their very own country, that isn't the mindset held by everyone else.

This is a problem i have with the gov'ts (both state and local) in Anambra when it comes to high-density estates like Awada. I see nice looking blocks of flats....all arranged nicely in a grid-style, and then i look around at the environment and see there is ABSOLUTLEY ZERO EFFORT at aesthetics! All these estates need to look nice are well constructed inner roads with trees planted on either side, side-walks, and the landscaping with lawns and flowers of all open spaces...unlike the present situation where you see open, muddy earth everywhere.

Considering all the money wasted on piffle by these same state and local gov'ts....coupled with all manner of levies they collect from landlords and tenants, you have to wonder why they can't spare just a little to improve the ambience of these estates!
Nigerians need to elect leaders that care, care about their environment, care about their land, and their people, and want to make their state and nation great. Not these bunch of egotistical leaders that are more fixated on self, leaders that would rather carry out specific projects for vain glory and not because of their viability.

Stuff like that, landscaping, underground drainage, pavements, trees, are standard procedure all over the earth. It's not like these leaders are oblivious, they travel to developed nations all the time, they just don't care.

And they get away with it, no one is saying anything. If a leader did that in the developed world, they'd be lucky if they weren't dragged outside and flogged.

Attitude of the people matter a lot in achieving the Kigali success. People in Nigeria believe cleanliness is not for the poor and the poor can live and trade in very dirty environment full of shanties and makeshift apartments in the heart of a city. Any Governor or official that attempts to clean the environment becomes enemy of the poor and has his political influence threatened.
The filth is simply government failure, failure to enforce cleanliness, to provide bins, to sweep the roads, to maintain infrastructure. If the government was doing these things, the environment would look better, irrespective of the peoples mentality.

Today, i realized how confused our leaders were in the Nnewi mall where parking lot above a shopping mall where people will always visit. Instead of putting the parking under the mall, so that the less heavy building is on top, while the heavier parking lot with lots of vehicles are below the building.

Sometimes, i ask God why oyinbo man is a lot smarter than the black man? Our engineers reason no better than roadside mechanics. If they calculated the relative weight, they would have advised the state government properly on the folly of building suspended parking lots in the air above an Nnewi mall. Things of simple common sense such as these are too difficult for us to understand. Now they can't finish the building because the amount of concrete it would take to have a suspended parking lot in the air is outrageous for the state to afford. Not to mention that such structure will naturally collapse on a busy day when the entire parking space is filled to the brim with parked cars. The overbearing weight of cars, the poor Dangote concrete type and the cheap iron rods bought by the contractor to save construction cost will inevitably lead to a tragic collapse when people are inside the Nnewi mall shopping.

Mandatory repainting of houses every 12 to 15 years.

Mandatory building of side walks and closing of gutter by landlords or land owners.

There is something very important you are missing. The idea of having a "federation" is that the federating units of a country cannot be dominated by another federating unit. In other words, wether you from the North, West, East or South, nobody can have a comparative political advantage over the other. In other words, the Regions/federating units/ component units/ areas are autonomous, have resource control, their own parliament.

The fact that we are even talking about the North dominating anyone in Nigeria politically means that the federation of Nigeria is a joke since such a thing should not even be possible in a true federation.
Nigeria is a federation in name only, and the North isn't politically astute, because if they were, they'd have politicked their way out of poverty by now.
