I recall noticing him 6 years ago.

I visited a friend at Chemist area of Akoka. Within one of the crowded streets, two vehicles in opposite directions faced eachother. Then one of the drivers began to hurl insults at the other. The quiet one, opened his door and towered out. As soon as the garrulous driver saw the emerging giant, he cowered and took to his heels. Even though their actions delayed my thorough fare, I laughed my head out that day.

The quiet giant on that day is the reference of this topic. Somewhat scary. He should go to hollywood or Ireland, he may find a role in the new season of Game of Thrones

Alhaji Abdulsalam obviously is a beneficiary.

Jonathan's successful fund raising should have been used for the purpose of election and not our commonwealth. I guess he is enjoying the money raised for personal use. No crime in doing that. Plenty crime in dipping into the national purse for his campaigns.

In similar vein, State Governments like Rivers who are at loggerheads with their predecessors should scrutinize the books too. There should be no sacred cow, irrespective of whose ox is gored!

If he was paid a honorarium was he paid more than the "going rate" that he would receive for gracing other events.
Was it any more than he deserved. He is a private citizen and entitled to privacy. If he is paid from public funds then the public are entitled to get value and that is the duty of their representatives. But I do not expect a Nobel Laureate to give a speech for under $50000 if he is charging for it . I know Hilary Clinton charges $200000.

From all the plenty English Prof wrote, it seems he was given a substantial honorarium from the alleged outrageous money spent. He is being defensive. If he received paltry or insignificant cash gifts from the RSG at the time, his response would have been a one-liner.

If no proof exists to show he did, then "Wikeleaks" may only have to contend with ex-Governor Amaechi and his lieutenants and not Baba 80.

Only a physically, psychologically, mentally, spiritually and conscience free man can openly condemn a leader he once supported when there is evidence of wrong or failure.

This is a lesson to all those of yesteryears who never saw and still do not see anything wrong in Jonathan's poor rule; and those who support PMB and have never seen anything wrong in his not so sincere style of leadership.

No matter who I give my support to, I will endeavor to condemn when necessary and praise when evident.

I once had a similar encounter earlier in the year at 4th roundabout by Conoil in Lekki. Mine stopped at "who get this car?", "which work you dey do?". As I made attempt to avail him my identity card he declined to see and retorted, "hunger dey catch us". I offered him 1k. He appealed further that there were 7 of them in the van. I doubled the tip. The generalization of all Yorubas as coward is quite funny and infantile. Anyone who seeks wisdom will duly know that courage or bravery is not about tribe but a course. To the best of my knowledge, every Nigerian tribe will stand up for her rights in the face of aggression or oppression. The difference is that the level of enlightenment and tolerance differs.

When MKO died, there were riots in the south west by everyone concerned irrespective of tribe. The riots were quenched because the Head of State at the time was not the one who incarcerated him. Despite MKO's efforts and acclaimed prowess at the time, life has definitely continued after his death.

OPC started the first armed militia facing bullets from the Nigerian Police daily until their leaders got enlightened and changed tactics. The Civilian JTF of the North with no Military training are defending their territories with little or no incentives. In like manner, I believe the IPOB youths will be willing to defend any injustice perceived to be meted to them.

Above all, war brings bad memories. I do not pray you will ever sacrifice your life for an agitation. Instead, I pray for change of tactics that will see IPOB leaders agitate from a civil and constitutional point of view.

However, your argument has some defects with regards to your defence of Nnamdi Kanu's position.

Firstly, we need to agree that there's no smoke without a fire. Nnamdi has only managed to land himself in a dangerous trouble because the secession bid was poorly planned & badly managed.

Not to deviate from the subject matter, Nnamdi's proclamations on his Radio Biafra are tantamount to incitement of violence & hatred which has the tendency of 'disturbing the peace' . I am open to what the provision of the law is with regards to 'disturbing the peace'. To say that he has the right to freedom of speech or expression, is to say that I(as a xtian) can go into a mosque and scream that Jesus is the only way. You know that my freedom of speech or expression has the tendency to cause wahala(disturbing the peace). This is how it all started in Rwanda(1994)...remember?

Secondly, for Nnamdi to clearly state that PMB is Bokoharam without concrete evidence is also tantamount to 'defamation of character' . In your submission, you mentioned that it holds no water(paraphrasing your statement) but you certainly know what Libel means.

Nnamdi Kanu's choice of words in his broadcast on Radio Biafra are not those attributed to a genuine freedom fighter that he purports to be, even agitating for a nation-state not yet born while he is still a subject under the extant law of our dear Nigeria. I don't think you have an idea of the gravity of his actions because they can be described as an act or instance of open revolt against a constituted government. This is a kind of behaviour inadvertently aimed at destabilizing the polity.

There are many other points I can argue here but I prefer to keep it short.

The OP did a yeoman's job with his analysis. However, his lack of objectivity exposed his ignorance as you rightly pointed out in your comments above.

Libel and inciting people to violence against the government are equally weighty allegations.

I pray Mr Kanu pulls through. I pray lessons are learnt by all parties. I pray he is given consideration and sins forgiven. I pray he agitates for the Biafra of his and supporters' dream in the most legal and constitutional manner.

MKO died in detention in 1998. 17 years after, Nigeria has moved on. If he did not die, there would have still been the advent of the 4th Republic.
