Solignum do cause a lot of irritation when applying it on woods and it’s instantaneous .

Personally I don’t see why not. I did apply some more even after roof was installed.

@HSLBroker2 perhaps you can shed some light on this.

PS: I’ve never been and will never be a participant in using used motor oil for anything.

I shared this trick some years back but few who don’t understand the dynamics condemned it.

The truth is used motor oil cannot completely dry Thus it helps in stabilize your roofing wood and make them stronger and more durable.

So unless you’re having problems at untreated nail points/joints, your roofing woods can last forever when treated with used motor oil.

I did that on my personal build though I have very solid woods and I never regret it. Having double layer of protection doesn’t harm.

You can walk into any off the aluminium places and submit your cut calculations but you need to know what's up.

Well done madam and thank God for dodging that bullet. Don't listen to his co-vendors trying to make u feel like u have taken the wrong step. You have bought yourself rest of mind. You can't quantify the amount of money u hv used to buy Rest of Mind!
You can and you will get good roofing hardwood in the market. Approach the sellers (airport road, okhoro, sapele road, etc) but don't appear desperate. Most of them often give valuable info on how to identify hardwood for roofing with even different names.
Take your time. Don't rush.

I reside in Benin. HS broker helped me with the woods. Though he promised 12 feet but what he supplied were between 8 to 10 feet. But the woods were of good quality. Talk to both your carpenter and Engineer. You can get 12 feet wood in Benin.

You are already in the right track by being here. Read this thread from the beginning for good tips
You may not get good help here anymore because fraudulent vendors have taken over from the do-it-yourself builders that started this thread. These vendors will give you excellent advise but the advise are cleverly done to trap you. Just becareful
