Business / Re: Watch Out For Scammers At Shoprite (ikeja) by RedReact: 5:39pm On Dec 15, 2013
Caracta:

It's shameful. There is no hope for Nigeria. We made Nigeria what she is today...not just the politicians.
God bless you for this statement.
I read a thread today, though not related to business, and I immediately concluded that most of the people castigating the government for being corrupt have no moral stand of doing that, and 2 different things confirmed that to. If anyone wants to know the true character of some Nigerian employees, open up a business or firm and leave it under their supervision then come back after 2 weeks. Most of us have, due to temporal gain or benefit, sold out our conscience and will later be crying foul of downturns or misfortune at the end.
What a pity!!!

Politics / Re: Oshiomhole Apologises For His Heartless Comments To A Widow by RedReact: 1:03am On Nov 30, 2013
nitlad:

Throughout this whole godtdam article, the part in bold is the only place where the unrepentant brute is quoted and it has nothing to do with apology.

Adams Oshiomole, woe unto you!
That was unfair, gentleman, to declare woe unto a fellow man. Why were we condemning him in the first place if not for utterance like this? He made a mistake, a costly one that made me get disappointed in him, but I don't need to curse him because no one is a saint; though I expect public personalities like Adams to be more wary of what they say because they represent us.
Who knows whether he has made plans or efforts to retrace the woman to get her belongings back? We cannot fight evil with evil, though we give strong disapproval of an evil behaviour. It will be good if human right lawyers (provided they exist at point) to locate the woman and get her some help, whether legal or any other means. Words are really powerful and this has caused a stain on Mr Adams' personality, that may take a long time for him to get washed out of it completely, but it doesn't warrant declaring woe unto him, with his admittance.to the women that came visiting (whether political apology or not).
Politics / Re: Why Is Africa Poor? by RedReact: 3:52am On Nov 29, 2013
I agree that the continent is lazy but not 100%, because the continent is poor due to the said laziness and other factors combined together.
If our corrupt officials in authority could perfect the art of stealing the commonwealth of their nations and pile it up for themselves and their family members, then I believe that such people can still sit down and plan towards the progress and prosperity of their land; and that is where value system comes in. Any man that can plan evil will surely be able to perfect the art of doing good.
Politics / Re: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by RedReact: 3:42am On Nov 29, 2013
ROSSIKE: I'll advise Oshiomole to go on air and issue an apology to the lady in question, and offer some form of assistance to her. He could say he was working under a lot of pressure, trying to fix the city's road systems and various urban challenges in the scorching hot sun etc etc... Try to connect with the people. If he can pull it off this could blow over really quickly.
I doubt if he will do that, as African leaders are not gentlemanly to that extent. Besides, I put the blame on him because a leader is meant to reason out things with some level of compromise sometimes, and he never put that into deeds. He is one of the guys I respect most, but he disappointed me, same with some other southern governors that I've held in high regards.
If we will apply the law to the core, let's assume we enforce laws to the detail in Nigeria, we will become inhumane to the core and tend towards despotism because Nigerians put eye-and-lip service to the law. Even if he was pushed to that extent, there was a way he could have done it without really being mean. Nevertheless, that still wont stop some other persons to flout the law, right at the departure of the convoy of the governor.

Finding the woman is the hardest part.
If she can be found and confirmed to be a widow, I will add and equivalent of $200 in naira to your donation,so the woman can earn a living without being involved in street trading or whatever it is that had upset his excellency. The days when we just watch these things or hear about them and spend hours pontificating are over. Let us take little steps, even if uncoordinated. I am tired of tyoing and reading epistles online, just like I am tired of conscience-less leaders. Let us start doing something.

In not so long decades past, China was a negligible entity in the comity of nations with no atom of significance. Today, they have build a great country that is trying to rub shoulders with others in the world (not that I really like the Chinese though). They built a fisherman-village called Shezhen (south of Guangzhou) as a city to compete neck-to-neck with Hong Kong (as Shanghai has an Hong Kong-like history with Europeans settling there, before communism set in). Shenzhen was built almost the same year our precious Abuja was being built or planned. Today, they are planning on transforming another village called Yiwu Zhejiang so as to make it rub shoulder with other cities too. How did they achieve these? They have a good value system, thou gh they have good cases of corruption too, just like beloved Nigeria.
As it has been said over and over, relocate the whole population of Nigeria to planet mars and leave this blessed country deserted with NO one living in it, and ask either the Europeans or Westerners or Japs or Chincs to build the country from scratch. I am sure that 50 years will be too much for these people to turn my fatherland to the haven to be envied by all personalities that inhabited the place before, owing to the fact that the land is abundant in resources some of these countries are secretly wishing to have a quarter of it.
I do criticize the government too, but when I see my countrymen's attitude towards government's property or business, I become depressed. I will never forget one of Sagamite's word on this forum when the issue of Indian brouhaha surfaced.
If one-man business can be ruined or has a 90% chance of being ruined when placed under a Nigerian employee without the owner supervising it aggressively, why will government establishment not run at loss when government top-function offices has been turned to an opportunity to eat your cake till the offer lasts?
I don't know whether to say Nigeria can get it right in this generation or not, but one thing I am sure of is that anything we do on earth shall be accounted for at the end of the day.
God bless the well-meaning Nigerians!!
God bless Nigeria!!!

If PR is the goal, don't look for Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth and other big cities because it wont be easy to get the PR from there, except you are being sponsored by a company. To get sponsorship from companies in those cities is not a small thing too because there are many citizens living there; why should they want to waste their money (to be used to make profit) to now sponsor you? Instead, go to the towns with less population. Use google to search for Australian cities and the institutions in them. If the city has a low population, apply to the schools there and make sure your course of study is 2years (we have talked abput this before on this thread). When you are through with your study, you can easily get your PR and then transfer yourself to any big city you want.

Not the high cost, my dear, but the chance(s) of getting PR after you finish your study (should that be one of your aim of studying there). If you are PR minded, kindly search for regional universities or colleges and apply there. Ypu may not enjoy the place 'cos of low population but it is very easy to get PR'd after study.

Sorry to disappoint you my sister, that is too difficult for my compatriots in Nigeria o. To pass 1k1 questions on entertainment and make 1st class out of it is easier than sitting with book to study.
The present day generation are much more luckier than mine, seriously speaking. With Kindle devices, tablets and Ipads where I cab pack 1000s of books on different topics and carry around to as the "best connection money can buy to gain knowledge", my people will prefer to ping, to chat or do so many intangibles. We need to be involved in all those stuffs too, but they should take lesser priority.
Who is to blame? Everyone involved in the education project; with the government taking the major portion, and the so called erudites in our universities taking the second position.
ASUU is on strike now, and NO single professor could even suggest a model or plan to the government and ask the government to start that model with one federal instituition in the 6 geopolitical zones of nation and see if it would work or not, yet they adjudge themselves as professor of education, business administration, public administration and every other administration one could imagine and make one wonder if these people really worth their onions at all in the first place. Kudos to the ones that are realy putting their best in raising the standard. God will continue to bless them.

What you were trying to pass across is what we call EDUCATION.
There is a difference between academics and education, though we use them interchangeably. Many of those people applying knowledge into great things or outside the box were educated (which means to build up) and not necessarily academic. (Reference to your penultimate post).
To the issue you raised about challenge, we have been trained in this part of the world not to believe in "failing or falling". "For you to be the best, you surely must have been raking in As" and we all know that is the beginning of mediocrity. If one had had a challenge path in the course of one's upbringing, such a one would be guided by a high value system borne out of excellence and passion for reproducing generations desperate for excellence despite tumultous rising. I believe that was what developed the likes of Bill Gates, late Steve Jobs, late Lincoln and hosts of others. Our value system is dangerous to human existence, truly speaking.
Education / Re: The Fallen Standard Of Education In Nigeria by RedReact: 3:33pm On Nov 24, 2013
Folks, if you keep discussing about the rot in our system, you won't end the discussion. Besides, the lamentation(s) about this decadence will keep going on an on, without giving out a hint on how to curtail it.
First and foremost, stakeholders in the education system in the world got into the system because of passion, desire, zeal and committment towards reproducing a research-minded and studious generation. In Nigeria, my blessed country, the stakeholders are those who have no business being there at all. Many got into the system because there is no job for them to do, while those who have the passion for it looked (and are still looking) the other way because the sector is not encouraging at all.
Another thing is displaced passion. This morning, I was pondering why my blessed country hasn't produced another set of Achebe, Soyinka, or even rising Adichie and some other folks we know little about? Reason cannot be far-fetched. Studying literature will only place you nowhere in the comity of the society like those who study some type of programs, even when it's glaring that such a chap is a promising brain in the world of literature.
In today's Nigeria, it is hardly difficult for someone that attends a public school to pass excellently in standard exams, while it is as cheap as a satchet of drinking water at those private schools. Care to explain why?
Proprietors will tell you that it's because of their passion that they established their schools (though not all of them), but I used to ask myself why they couldn't use the money to develop a public school to the model they desire or nurture in their hearts instead of building one. Your guess is as good as mine.
Another factor is our value system. How do you expect a society that worshios money to thrive? "Why person wan kill himself sef? Afterall money go do am." That is the attitude on display by our parents to examinations (majority of them). We have had our values brutalized and now evolving towards 'valuelessness', thanks to the positioneers in authority at different levels.
In almost all universities, we have the faculty of Education and this implies that Nigeria can boast (if it is the right word to use) of professors in the area of education, yet we have been crying about the standard in the area of their expertise and none has come out to propose a model/theory or plan to combat this menace ravaging the future of the country. Then what are those folks doing at the university walls if they can't be of help to their nation? Maybe competing for the position of who collects the best salary or has the best ride?
Why my country cannot boast of technical colleges is what is battling me till date. Those days, technical colleges used to prepare and groom technicians or would-be engineers, but that can't be said today. What do we have nowadays? Mental toture all in the name of reading.
Ask my dear Nigerian students to go for internship, where they have the privilege of getting first-hand experience of what they have learnt theoretically in school, they would be asking you how much the firm/company will pay them. Do I blame them? Of course not; our societal value has been turned to money-worship value.
I believe we can do our part. How? As an individual, walk to any of those public schools you see around. Identify a need there and try to meet the need. You can donate to a library or encourage the best student there by giving books or awards. I believe this will spur competition among the serious ones studying there. I am also of the opinion that those who are planning to establish a university should start with a standard technical college, like the ones our fathers attended before they went to the unviersity. It will help a lot.
I hope we retrace our steps back to reality before we drown finally because a stitch in time saves nine.

Nodding in agreement to was said above this. Sometimes, those prophecies are like warning to prepared ahead of what is to come. Many wont even come through to fulfillment at all if both parties stand their ground. First thing is to check for the conviction of both parties to the future and relationship. Besides, be your on prophet; #1 consultant to your real you in all matters of life. Besides, that is not prophecy, though we call it to be. Prophecies are non-negative utterances pronounced supernaturally without fore-knowledge or post knowledge of the speaker (sorry for digression).
On whether she should tell, I do not see any reason why she should do so. It will reek of immaturity. If they say A will happen and it is against your conviction(s), then transpose that A into what you are conviced of.
