Blackman101:In my opinion debt is merely the greed of one party at the expense of another, generally the poorer party. Look at nations. Nigeria, the United States, all economies of the world. They borrow vast sums to share, to provide for certain interests, to back specific individuals, groups, corporations. But the debts are paid by all (the majority of whom are poor or of average means) through inflation and declining social services across board. Look at large corporations. They borrow to 'expand' indirectly from the citizens (the majority of whom are poor or of average means) who are given a miserly return compared to what is retained. A reason why most banks including the Nigerian ones report enormous profits often in total variance with the performance of the larger economy. I think the eventual collapse of the world economy once again. And it is coming (as it does cyclically) will be once again on the back of this thing called CREDIT, a simple but clear definition of man's insatiable greed. |
For a believing Christian debt is NOT A GOOD THING. To use it to amass for the purpose of being rich is being faithless and greedy, the root of all sorts of bad things. It is virtuous to grow things the way God created nature, that is patiently, persistently and sustainably. And when your time in this world is over, be known as one that has 'walked with God's as a co Creator, not a destructor of humanity by the temptations of wanting ALL at the expense of humanity. Truly it is near impossible for a rich man to be righteous. |
Imalwayshorny:Then shoot him in broad daylight on the streets like a stray dog.... ![]() Was it not their Oga, the IG who just days ago pronounced the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in extra judicial killings, or mob action, aka 'jungle justice'. And here before the ink had dried on his 'Executive Order', his boys have already tested his resolve. Isn't this just an astonishing country.? |
lordm:For the growth figures to really impact lives, inflation has to ease significantly. In very basic, elementary theory plus 4.5 minus 15 leaves a deficit of 20.5 percent. In effect Nigerians are getting poorer in real terms by 10 percent this year. If your salary or productivity does not exceed this on a regular basis you will be worse off by December compared to the start of the year . |
Racoon:Really. Did he tag is a 'natuonal.concern'? What part of this sordid drama am I part of and determined to shield as a Nigerian. What part of any expose or tunneling will be of concern to me...except the fact of the matter itself, not the cloak and dagger dramatics surrounding it. No one forced Mr. Tinubu to vie for public office and the highest office in the land is where accountability expands from your state and it's clans.to folks from other parts that really want to KNOW YOU, know who their President is. If there is any concern it.is.that a foreign government.has some sort of leverage on our President. The kind of concern Americans had when speculations of Donald Trump's connections to Russia and the potential leverage that adversarial country had on them. We should be concerned the leverage the US government has via this issue and it calls for Legislative action, a serious inquiry, if we are a democracy of accountability. I just hope this is an awakening call for the future of this democracy. That we begin to take issues of the person, the process and the principles correct.going forward. And I hope.this serves as a heads-up to.our future leaders. Watch what you do. |
Tenses:Absolutely not. Finals are always games of chances and opportunities. The midfield did enough in containing PSG's. Their goal came from the wing. Kvara v Mosquera, not the middle. Arsenal has a notorious habit of not pressing their advantage and going for more against the biggest teams and this was the case. And it is all down to the lack of an out ball, a point man who presses from the front and occupies opposing defenders. Kai is not such a person or a presence. He is more of a striker of opportunity than a striker of occupation, domination. So the defenders did not mind his presence throughout the match and played comfortably out from the back. Can you do that with a Haaland or an Osimen or a Lewandoski of a few years ago. These players tie down defenders and make it difficult playing from the back. PSG had a field day playing out the back. That is the weakness of the false nine system. |
Mryacks:I don't know why Lautaro crimes to mind. If you watch this guy for Inter on any good day, you see a classic top 9. His goal instinct is second to none. Seriously devastating striker you dare not give a second. But maybe slowing down a bit as age catches up. When a Technical Director hoed shopping for a CF, that is what to look for. Not one million goals but technical ability. |
Angelfrost:Yeah. But I just cannot be understand it. Even if you wish to adopt it, at least have a plan B. The lack of a proper centre forward was the difference between winning last season's UCL and throwing it away to PSG. A top 9 divides the opponents defence, takes two or three players with him everywhere he goes leaving space for others to operate. That match was crying out for the likes of a Lautaro Martinez... a Harry Kane...and others that know where the two sticks are with their eyes closed. |
Wordson:Should be back home for that. Missed live footy... ![]() |
AkpaMgbor:True that. |
TheStoriesOfMan:They need a proper centre forward to achieve that. |
But give it to Arsenal. The squad is brimming with quality. I have forgotten players like Merino and even Zubimendi, top, top players in their own right and now world cup winners.... cannot even get a start. Outside Bayern, PSG and Barcelona I don't think there is a more powerful squad in all of world club football. The only inhibition is Arteta's penchant for this false nine rubbish (my opinion) which will catch him out on a good day to come. Mikel, clear out the cupboard and get a proper centre forward or continue to struggle to wrap up trophy chases. |
ZombieDredd:He did. But the general consensus is that his season was so-so. Not spectacular and far below what he was doing at Sporting. And this is the reason why prolonged transfer negotiations in the soup of player hype is never good for the players themselves. Just like the Alex Isak case, just like the Barcola case may become. When these players eventually land the pressure on them surrounding the whole saga can weigh them down. |
Rayjay45:Yes, that is him. Sesko was Arteta's choice. |
TheStoriesOfMan:No, that is normal. Those clubs you mentioned have a trophy within their reach every season or so. And for players the ultimate legacy is your trophy cabinet. I really don't blame them. |
Rayjay45:He was not Arteta's choice last season's transfer window. Arteta wanted the guy that ended up at United. I think Berta was swayed by statistics. It hasn't worked out and the steep bill continues to sting. Both Arteta and Berta should thank their stars that the title was won if not their judgement will have come under serious scrutiny. |
TheStoriesOfMan:The main reason why clubs sell for non footballing reasons os to balance the books aka FFP. If the accounts are healthy and revenues are surging there is no need to sell a player at his peak and performing reasonably well particularly if the player in question commands great image rights. |
But the IG just days ago pronounced the prosecution of anyone in loved in mob action. Guess what, the police themselves have opened the scores. One just cannot make this up. Nigeria must seek political leadership that is ready to tear down the institution of the Nigeria police and rebuild it from the ground up. Changing IG's to me is akin to buying diapers for a toddler. Tick-tock and and the system reboots to normalcy. |
From Osun, through the FCT, now Borno. Same language and mannerism symptomatic of a totalitarian society governed by an authoritarian. The language of coercion and violence simply means one thing, a breakdown of communication. Whatever is being sold is not being bought and this is leading to serious frustration. |
free2ryhme:That is not the issue. The issue is what you do with the savings. When a man decided he will cut down on this and that in the home, no doubt there will be sufferings of one kind or the other. But it is what the savings are used for that matter at th end. If it is invested properly to ensure the kind term prosperity of the family then the sacrifices are worthwhile. But if the savings are being fritted away then the sacrifices are made useless. That should be the debate as to whether this government is wisely investing the subsidy savings or whether it is being fritted away. Obviously a clear indicator of wise investment is returns. What is being returned to Nigerians. This is three years. Where are the investment yields. |
Please don't tell me his name is Tony... ![]() |
HacheNoire:I totally agree. I think the visa regime should be tightened across board by all countries out there and it is time to start profiling.those who apply. If the good ones are affected and suffer, absolutely good. Since we pretend it doesn't concern us. Since we have folded our arms and let the bar ones command attention. When it becomes almost impossible for the vast majority to travel abroad then we will all begin to look inwards to our security services and our criminal justice system that remains largely dysfunctional. |
dododawa1:Yes, if it will cost fifteen trillion naira. Money this country does not have, it should be a campaign issue because it is a major, major cost outlay that will either require raising taxes or securing credit. Both those who things are campaign issues in sane climes. That is if we call ourselves a democracy. |
Parachoko:I did not say you use foul language. But your strong positions on what your beliefs are will always draw ire from opposing views. If you must hold those positions you must be prepared,.grow a thick skin. This is a forum. It is the street of public opinion. Ignore it. |
dododawa1:I am here your honour. To proceed on the case of: Emphasis is given to a road that was not campaigned about. That was not promised in any manifesto, while ignoring that which is critical to the good people of Nigeria, perhaps the most important highway in Nigeria. Because I cannot understand on what planet this is a sensible scenario. I just cannot understand this country. |
Parachoko:Show your emotional intelligence and ignore it. Is this the first broadside you have seen on this forum. You are quick to quip yet cannot take it . |
Greenback:The Opposition in the National Assembly should be pressing for an investigative panel. But it appears the man perhaps anticipated all these on ascension and swiftly moved to muzzle the entire apparatus of government tip to toe. |
Everyday it is becoming clearer what actually happened concerning this case. And it is increasingly looking like this man was involved in criminal activities. Obviously caught and perhaps became an informant of some kind. He definitely was involved in crime in the United States. He is just lucky it was a period when America was busy with other things notably the fallout from the first Gulf war and the devastation caused to their economy. |
Patnome:I'm still on the field. No TV's allowed here but following feed online. |
Patnome:Think he has scored. |
Hmmmmm2024:So. Did anyone force anyone to take on a responsibility he cannot. If it is a PPP then capacity is the first requirement for any vendor. On the part of government, a proper, solid, watertight commercial plan of compensation, after, not before execution and quality assurance. But as for giving money before execution, aka mobilisation I think the same malaise that infected subsidy payments is the same affecting contracting. And in the history of this country no other losses come close to those in the hands of contractors for all manner of works. You will see a Contractor that has done poorly on a section of road being awarded a new contract somewhere else in another part of the country. Same company, same Ministry of Works. No accountability, no one in jail, no one dismissed or reprimanded...at least openly.....and believe you me this affects ALL construction & engineering companies in Nigeria, even the so-called expatriate, best selling, famous ones. |
8 Dogalmighty17:CONTRACTS, CONTRACTS, CONTRACTS.....Nigeria. A Contractors paradise. What makes for foreign or indigenous companies. What makes for a construction company in the first place. * Skilled professionals. * Equipment. * Stores.. * An administrator to put all these together.... that's all. Tell me which of these is not present in Nigeria. Are you telling me that between Benin to Onitsha, all those towns and cities have NO skilled professionals, NO skilled administrator, NO construction equipment and NO supply dumps...haba. What is the concept of CONTRACTS in the first place. You give someone money upfront just to organise these factors and execute the job for a profit. Remove that profit to save cost and organise these factors under a foreign/expat administrator (not company) if you feel Nigerians are DNA wired to mismanage and there you go. Let political leadership issue bonds to vendors for materials, equipment and stores and you cut the bill by another 50 percent. The Koko is EXECUTE BY DIRECT LABOUR under expatriate administration and Ministry supervision. No cash goes anywhere to minimize corruption and you are good to go. Whoever doesn't want should sit his ass down in his village. Whoever wants to develop infrastructure in his community should report to the FMW. Who the hell is Hartland. The FACE of those who want to steal resources. I dare you. Half of that money is in the pocket of a government official no one will be able to touch. Nonsense system in a reprobate country. We either end CONTRACTS or contracts end us. |
