Coastal roads when many intra and inter states roads are in a terrible state is gross madness.

Same thing Amaechi did with the Kano - Maradi rail

Are our rulers mad or someone is ruling the country through them?
It is the people that are docile.
Democracy to them is a fire and forget missile guaranteed to hit the target once they vote.

Do citizens of other countries not vote.
They why do they still protest at every misstep of government. Because they are not feudal in nature. They are independent minded, know what is right and know their rights and carry no leader on their heads with sentiment.

You carry taxpayers money to go serve yourself or your friends or your interests or your pet projects leaving them stranded and they dump your sorry ass at the next polls.

DJT, POTUS is trembling at the forth coming midterms because it is clear that his party will lose. Why, because he put other interests ahead of that of the common American citizen that even his party faithfuls will rather stay home on election day.

But trust the hapless Nigerian. He will sleep on that road for days, suffer today intolerable hardship, lose thousands of naira in the process and still carry the recalcitrant government on their heads like slaves.

Let the Minister go there with bags of rice and bundles of naira and they will carry him up like a world cup winning manager.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Didn’t End Subsidy, He Shifted The Burden To Nigerians – Atiku by Reference(m): 10:14am On Aug 25
You see, these are the debates that should have been ongoing for years, the debates that should have occupied the National.Assembly for weeks and months after the withdrawal and while the ink had not dried.

And the reason is simple.
Such focus will have advanced many other options for government to consider as revenue solutions and anti corruption solutions.

And even if government somehow had pressed on, then it will have done so on the back of some serious concessions to the people, e.g tax reduction/breaks, or subsidies to other equally important sectors as to provide universal education and healthcare.

But we all sat and played deaf and dumb while the National Assembly played dead.

So this government just took the money, all of it and shared it out wilynily to whoever was available to be 'bribed', without demanding ANYTHING resembling accountability from those it shared the 'windfall' to. Then asking us to go hold them to account.

The question is: 'Did the people tell you to give the money, their livelihoods to governors and council chairmen in the first place...' Who gave you permission Mr. President to do that. When was it debated in the National Assembly in this so called democracy.

On it's part even the Federal government has refused to be held accountable for the spending of the so called subsidy money. Today it is neck deep in so called projects it neither campaigned about or the public asked for, while ignoring those the people want done.

How can you dare be building a new highway on the coast to open up.so called new communities and so called new businesses while the old hinterland roads that connect real communities and existing enterprises are rotting away.

This is why the whole subsidy thing is being torch lighted today in an unprecedented albeit forlorn manner. I fully support subsidy removal but the benefits are being wasted by this government and the people who pay the bills are NOT BEING SERVED OR SERVICED.

That is the nutshell.

SEGLIZ:
first on your bills, you incur more bills with the way you are running your farm. this will accumulate through water management and feeding.

you're meant to feed them twice daily, only if you ration same daily meal into portion (if you feed them 500g daily then you decide breaking it to three or four times instead of twice). change their water every three days instead of every day.

their water get dirty easily as a result of the excess feed residual which in pollutes the water. did you treat your pond before stocking? you need to treat your fish and pond.
Agreed.
The feeding is excessive.
Thus the quality of feed is suspect.
Changing water daily is highly, highly stressful particularly if the change is instantaneous, not gradual (like Atiku is saying about fuel subsidy removal - bear with my explanation but it is the same thing).

To cut your bills I suggest investing in solar/DC submpump system (if you can). The energy can also support a small aerator.

One of the weirdest things in world soccer is happening right now at Craven Cottage.

The opposing managers worked in the same club previously and guess what....in the same season. And now find themselves face to face in new clubs, in new leagues where they both have never worked before....

Don't think it will ever happen again.
Am sure there will be a little curiosity out there in Spain about this match and as to who the better gaffer is between them.

But everyone is making one little dangerous decision or the other every blessed day consciously or unconsciously in adjusting to the inclement economy.

The question was clear and point made.
Is government borrowing to pay salaries? Supply proof. T for thanks.
I repeat. If the government is heavily drawn to meet its own budget objectives then it does not matter what the line items of expenditure are. It is assumed it is borrowing for everything.

If I say I don't borrow to feed but I borrow for my rent or transport or school fees or anything else then I am a debtor. I might as well fulfill whatever obligations I have. with the 'feeding money',, it will still constitute a financial crises. Salaries are not the only obligations governments have.

And this government has been warned severally to cut its cost by trimming it's size and reflecting it's como stations to the reality of the generality of the people, but sadly it refuses.

Without credit I bet very, very. Capital projects will be on the cards. You have seen the debts of the FCT explode in just 12 months. That is caused by a realization that objectives cannot be met by revenues alone. And all because the economy is struggling.

Image123:

But it is borrowing massively.
Previous governments in a galaxy not too far away had much smaller budget deficits and we're able to deliver the little they could.

If you are not borrowing massively and you have to use your earnings for both recurrent and capital expenditure doesn't it occur to you that you may not be able to fulfill recurrent obligations.

So this is merely a half full or half empty argument, th summary of which is, the economy remains too weak to stand on it's own and the one sided austerity is clipping it's wings.

Credit in my humble opinion is just kicking the can down the street. The effects are awaiting. Just hold on for a while.

Let us say that as a democracy we are bound to grow out of certain things.

A toddler has his priorities and dwells on 'visuals' and impulses. That is why his room, his school is painted with characters and vibrant colours, a visual stimulus that will overwhelm and overload an adult mind.

As this democracy matures the citizenry is bound to outgrow visual stimuli of flashy flyovers and 20 laned highways into the nuts and bolts, the detailing of a working progressive nation that has plans, programs for development going forward.

To a point where rooms and classrooms are decorated with ugly, intimidating charts, graphs, maps, book lined walls....and Mickey and Minnie and Donald on the walls become embarrassing burdens.

Visible means eye candy. Visible means PROJECTS....PROJECTS and again PROJECTS as the famous Mr. Project.

And that is because Nigerians are not sure why they elect leaders. Whether to GOVERN or to award contracts for projects. They are not sure what constitutes a performing government or a contractor driven one. What do Nigerians want that will be the basis of assessing this government, the 'visible' things Mr..Wike is talking about. What are th metrics, the indices of progress.

The debate about what constitutes development rages on.

The power around the presidency is enormous that people who are close to him now act on their own in the name of the presidency.

Who ordered EFCC to freeze Osun account.
Who gave appointment for the DG and many others
And who appointed them....the people 'around' him.
Abeg let us hear another story.
On this forum you guys claim and I quote, '...will he appoint his 'enemies..' when folks here wail about tribalism and cronyism.

So, since he has appointed his friends, allies and associates into government, who by the popular assertion, 'will do him no harm', then they must be doing his bidding or at the very, skeptical least, reading his body language and acting accordingly.

And again, this very President has said of others before him and I quote, '...the bulk buck stops at his desk..'

So where does this recent and unprecedented 'President/Presidency dichotomy arise. There is no escaping this. He is either incompetent or complicit. There is no middle ground between sin and righteousness. There are no two governments heading this country.

He hired them.
Let him fire them if they keep on embarrassing him. And if he can't it means his hands are not spotless.

I said this sometime last year (I think). That the government is hoping that Nigerians 'adjust' to the new reality of austerity. Fine.

The problem is, there is nothing like equality in citizen virtues. Some folks will adjust, they will struggle to survive in seeking out a living. Some others will curl up in a corner and just give up on life. While others yet will turn on society, they will turn to crime to survive.

And we have seen a spike in all manner of crimes lately. Not only has vandalism reached epidemic levels, have we also noticed kidnappings, narcotics, slavery, fraud and so on have reached levels never seen before in the history of this country....

The government should be worried that it's promise of a better life through economic reforms has not yielded any sort of result. The government has taken a lot, that is a lot, from the people and delivered practically nothing in return.
