Everyone here is saying herbal this and herbal that and criticizing the medical profession for disavwoving their beliefs. Why not open your own herbal clinics and treatment centres for cancer and other chronic ailments. Experiment on your own therapies underground. With constant success the public itself will advocate for your recognition and mainstream adoption. But until then the general consensus will remain that trado-medicine is unproven. |
michoim:This is a mix up of issues. Wike has done a great job at providing new infrastructure no doubt. One of the best Minister's to that effect. In other aspects, not so much. The land issue of which the environment feeds off continues to beleaguer his administration just like his predecessors. |
Gerundphrase:Ordinarily Abuja should not have flooding issues. Much of the City is within the central highlands of Nigeria. Much like Jos and Nasarawa, it is a city of hills and valleys where natural waterways flow. The masterplan recognised this and adapted the design of the city to accommodate them. Along this natural courses development of any kind was strictly forbidden in the now famous 'green belt or green areas. But like everything Nigeria the shaking of legs and the nodding of heads to the music has now developed into a full scale abuse. First permits were given for green areas to be utilized for recreation and with such human incursion it was only a matter of time before the ancillary needs for recreation led to the establishment of structures. And today the so called temporary structures are giving way to permanent utilitarian structures of all types ranging from car-lots to restaurants and serious real estate. The City will pay for this indiscretion. The Nigerian who cannot evolve decent, rules based societies will suffer the consequences. Perhaps in a few decades we will start looking for yet another. Capital city to migrate to after thoroughly messing this one up just as we did Lagos. |
How many times I go talk am. When an economy tanks, HSE - Health, Safety and the Environment shows the first sign of the rot. Folks throw away caution and start taking unimaginable risks. Those that are supposed to superintend over standards, police society, maintain law and order are compromised for a morsel. They too want to survive, they too are scared stiff of losing their jobs, their patronages for fear of poverty. Unfortunately in our case as the people have handed over their dignity, their standards of living to the few that rule under a feudal system the acceleration to absurdity is even greater. Who will call the FCT Minister to order. No one. So the Environment will suffer more and more. |
I'm afraid, I have to agree with Sowore on this. Nigeria is the only country that has neither heros nor villains, history nor context. We just live for the moment. We learn nothing from the past, we gain nothing for the future. |
His opinion, your opinion, my opinion remains that it is a dangerous, addictive drug that is a threat to mental health and is carcinogenic so for me it should remain outlawed. Those that require it for various medical therapies can be administered the active ingredients in a manner similar to other medications. |

Willy2025:Better stop all these war mongering talk from the safety of your room. What lessons are there to be learnt from the mindless bloodshed and useless destruction. Is there any war that will not end with talk. Is there a y country that can destroy the other in the present century. You guys better sue for peace if you cannot create life. |
Hmmm...60 billion...spent by government people. Are these earned money...no. Who will gamble with money hard earned. They are funds from government patronage, from contacts and contracts. When it comes to serving the public there is never enough money. They say you and I don't contribute enough. But when it comes to what they wish to spend money on it always comes quick and active and in mind boggling figures. You collect that money,.you are part....no you are the very reason why Nigeria is like this. Your name is Esau. . |
Age old debate. Wealth is simply the ability to create value. Poverty is the opposite. The inability to create value. So: CREATIVITY - Vision, Imagination, an active, inquisitive mind that is curious enough to act out ideas, to solve problems than invariably meets needs. VALUE, VALUABLES - of things, solutions that are important to one, two and an ever increasing number of people. One of the greatest unforgettable sayings I have encountered many, many years ago that has stuck ''Success is the only thing you cannot enjoy if you are unwilling to make as many people of it.' So wherever you are, whatever you do I believe this applies to everyone. |
Kukutente23:Easy. Wield the EFCC stick before their eyes and see them all run for the hills. |
naptu2:I am not too sure that changing the players is the silver bullet. The issues surrounding football and sports sector in Nigeria is systemic. I don't think a nameplate change on the front door will necessarily evolve our football overnight. |
Even in the most cultured of societies the law will not intervene if you are HEARD by your own admission hiding domestic violence. But when the evidence is 'SEEN', madam the case is out of your hands. It doesn't matter what you say, the EVIDENCE speaks louder. |
aariwa:Remember that. Was it not the highrise shopping complex fire on Lagos Island. Not a wise thing to do. |
This is really terrible. Hardly a day goes by. Vietnam. That should be capital. End of the road and good riddance. |
The Taj Mahal has always been on my bucket list. But...kai..It is really a shame to approach the Indian embassy for a visa anytime in the future unless Nigeria can put a handl.on this problem. Kudos to the NDLEA. Desperately trying to salvage whatever is left of our reputation. |
OnlineAmebo:As a city of hills and valleys with very little flat land it should have no business with flooding except if man interferes with the natural course of it's many streams and natural canals. |
The environment will shortly be in a big mess with rats running around and gray water flowing in storm drainage. I guess the latest meno from DJT is receiving attention. Th US has pulled the plug on Somalia amongst other African countries for refugee status. |
'Telephone is not for the poor'....David Bonaventura Mark |
Modern day cannibals....too bad. Now the grim task of identifying the victim(s). As for them the countdown to their last days on earth is on. |
Mathain19:Afi mechanic 'shrine' ....to bow and worship the gods of piston and rings...of condenser and radiator....of fuel pump, relay and brain box.....led by Kamoru the high priest.... ![]() |
helinues:Under Wike's government green areas are being allegedly allocated and developed. It is simple. Green areas are the 'sump' of the city to mitigate against this exact thing. |
...Kai...this country eh.The hungry driver in his ramshackle bus should know he has to do the right thing to stand any chance of changing his story. But he HAS to be FORCED by the public. Classic under developed society. |
olutops:What is all this siege mentality about. Who did you see in the video stigmatizing her. They were all scared like most people will and if they are not trained like the vast majority of people on the streets anywhere in the world that will be the classic response to a sudden unexpected event. Stop all these abeg and let us liberate our minds. People drop dead all over the world in front of people and few, very few cases you see complete strangers physically intervene. |
Classic cardiac event. Tough to watch. RIP. |
XTruth:Arms sales is a minuscule proportion of global trade. And it has reduced drastically since the end of the Cold war. The interest of America in the middle east is two fold One, economic, due to the global reliance on oil for stability and growth. And two, feeding off that, they have defence pacts with a number of Gulf states to ensure that stability. All these strategic positions will change over time as technology evolves and the world drops hydrocarbons as primary energy source, then the world will leave them in peace to do whatever they like to each other. |
Evergreen4:That is exactly what he said. He has gone back to the doctrine of non foreign interference he started with when he assumed office. The Mid East debacle has been the big and bad exception. America must find a way out and let Israel care about its country on its own. Let the Gulf States take care of themselves. If they all want nuclear weapons so be it. They will simply destroy each other and no one on other continents will care one bit. Technology will eventually overcome oil and the reliance on the Middle east for global economic stability will be gone in a century or less. |
mcquin:If there are long term benefits for which we should all wait, then let the 'waiting' be across board. That is let the sacrifices be tip to tail. You are not taking from the many and giving it to the few and then claiming everyone is making sacrifices. And this reflects primarily in how government spends. This government is not spending it's big ticket budget, that is Investing in the things that will create jobs, spur industry reduce the cost of living and the cost of doing business. It's big ticket expenses are on contracts to build one tho g or the other, the other big ticket expenditure is on itself by way of recurrent expenditure that has increased exponentially from where his predecessor ballooned it despite the fact the number of people in public service is just a tiny fraction of the Nigerian populace. Nigerians are essentially working to feed, house and cater for government officials. Why would any sane, aware citizen not kick. |
flokii:So let the Yoruba vote him in and other tribes vote their own people and let us see how this will make a President of the country. If you insist on this who do you think will be your political pansy. |
Bluna:Unfortunately the quality of governance has not improved since then. Still the same thing basically. People in power still doing what they want. Still isolating the majority of citizenry. Not listening to the people and running the country like a headmaster running a school to the benefit of a scant few. The gap between the privileged and the peons has never been greater. |
Kai, MTN is terrible, terrible at my present location. With all the profits declared they should invest much more in tackling quality of service. |
RichDad1:Let us separate things here. The need to upgrade infrastructure on the Peninsula is without a doubt necessary. Whether this is a state government or Federal government responsibility is a debate for another day. But as for the coastal road, that is a complete mindless waste of resources. It is a typical white elephant project. It will add scant little to Nigeria and cost an arm and a leg to maintain in the coming years. That will be clear very soon. And the fact that all traffic from and along the Atlantic coast will be diverted through the Peninsula....well I leave that to you folks to imagine.... |
