Truvelisback:Agreed. This is the why Nigeria is like this today. The failure of the people to relate their electoral choices to their experiences under governance. Said this years ago and in summary coined the phrase, 'Elections have consequences' If a non performing candidate is re elected anywhere in the world know this, the best of him or her is over, past. The law of political diminishing returns will nameplate his second tenure. There is no automobile ever designed that depreciates as fast as a political office holder. |
Daguccizgreat:That is simply not true. There are always options except in a one party state. If he is not performing the people have every right reason to.pull the plug. The time allocated for performance by the tenets of democracy is over. This is a examination season and the examiner cares not if you are prepared or not. He will not grant you a pass even if you are the only candidate in the hall. |
EmekaBlue:Infrastructure is not our forte. The evil 'contracting' culture will never allow for value for money. We take the money and never deliver value. Look at what we got as a national stadium in Abuja for the huge amount spent. Very dour and unappealing. Of course it was given to Julius Berger, a company known for **** in cahoots with politicians and government officials. If you want grand plans and masterpieces there are architectural firms and engineering companies that deliver some of the finest. None have come close to Africa as a whole. |
U paulolee:MOST ICONIC....not biggest. |
Kemetian:High rise buildings are generally seen as symbols of economic emergence. As we say, the number of high rises under construction is a barometer of economic progress. So countries like the US have had their day but today there a few being built showing a certain degree of stagnancy, China is gradually slowing down as well, today the new areas of rapid economic expansion are found in the middle east. For Nigeria it shows that the country emerged strong out of colonial rule in the 60's and shortly after powered out of the civil war in the 70's with the Cocoa House and NITEL buildings respectively. Since then it has been a steady decline. Now new tall buildings since then. Even the World Trade centre towers in Abuja took ages to be completed and are more or less remained hollow. It is all about the state of a country, the feel good effect of immediate and impending, expanding prosperity. |
Jamie248:Nothing wrong with that. It is about bringing best practices to bear, to raise standards. The fact is that the best of our medical professionals are outside our shores. No one can dispute that. |
What is needed now is sound management. Not too sure what the vision is. Whether it is.a commercial facility or whether it will offer social services. That is whether it will be exclusive to those who can afford it judging by the stated attraction of those who seek foreign medical services or whether it will offer services to all citizenry meaning it will be a typical government hospital, a purely public facility, then the issues of funding and running costs will arise. The major challenge of health services in Nigeria and indeed worldwide is that of the business model. |
Hope there is capital punishment for this kind of thing over there. If they treat it with levity like over here, it will only fester. |
emydnobl:No, he is not absolutely right. On social media I will think it is about equal. In society as a whole our empathy could be way higher the tighter the circles. But the wider those social circles are the better more advanced countries tend to be. |
FreeStuffsNG:That is exactly what he is saying. Folks react to a negativity with an e en worse one. Look at a couple of posts below disagreeing with a couple of facts. That is how a response is, that is informative and educative, the situation he is trying to paint as more prevalent in those places. |
Emeskhalifa:That is feudalism brewing in your heart. It is not good. That is not democracy. Democracy is a COMPETITION to determine who can rule best. The competition is THE ONLY BENEFIT a citizenry gets from the practice of democracy. He holds competing powers in a flux and smashes them together to generate power. The power of vision, the power of ideas, the power of ideologies, the power of performance, the power to serve. All these powers are generated IN COMPETITION....not in agreements. The people CANNOT benefit anything if political parties are not competing. That is why the Legislature today is in decay. No competition, no debates, no cross fertilization of ideas. Just a collection of nodding lounge lizards looking to grab the occasional contracts on the fly. |
fasho01:Usually when someone passes after what is described as a 'prolonged illness' a lot of the mourning will have been done before hand and the family will rather be relieved though emotionally and mentally exhausted. It is the instant or sudden passing that produces profound shock and the roller coaster of emotional after shocks. |
Aww... that's nice. Very lovely from a sweet mum. |
xxgig:It does not matter. This is a terrible tragedy. Let us stop trying to reason it out or excuse it in any way. The man is dead, obviously murdered and that is enough to hunt down the perpetuators no matter how highly they are placed, and bring them to book in a very clear and forceful manner that sends a message and breaks they cycle of not it will only get uglier and everyone will lose. |
seunmsg:That is why it is only good to condemn all acts of violence and demand the security agents prosecute to the letter of the law. But there you were a couple of days ago excusing an act of verbal threat. This is the result. The impunity escalates. If the Senator was charged and the lieutenants see the hammer of the law come down on their leaders then they will all be cautious. Condemn all acts of violence from wherever they originate and from whosever they are perpetuated. |
Ikengawo:Agree in part. Yes, the second best. But in reality they all fed off the 70's era. Some will say the 80's, highlighted by the Sugar Ray v ' the Marvelous' Marvin Hagler caper was about the most exciting rivalry of all time. |
kenn4rill:In the annals of the HW weight division all time, I don't think in the Top 30. Not even in British boxing he comes close to the top. When you sit back to imagine who he could have defeated at their prime of all the box office names.... you can't really mention any....perhaps Trevor Berbick...But for all those who had worn the belt particularly the WBC belt...oh boy I cannot count past my pinkie. |
Haba, this is not a question nau..... The Savage 70's of course.... ![]() This is the decade that made boxing a blockbuster sport, a box office watch and legends of giants. |
Nigerians love rancour. There is absolutely no need to stoke tensions and aggravate disputes. Completely unnecessary. The Governor remains the Chief Executive and has a lot of latitude on what he wants and doesn't in accordance with the law. |
jaxxy:Don't mind them. They think everyone on earth is in the sewers with them. |
voortrekker966:Of the UK, Tyneside. |
Flangelo12:Right now their space launch business is number one on the world. They have successfully undercut ROSMOSCOS and are presently dominant. How we we hear that the Chinese, Japanese and even the Europeans are beginning to get a hang of the reusable launch vehicle tech and are catching up. That is a concern. However Elon is such a maverick. When he encounters challenges, competition he doesn't run around looking for how to make a better mouse trap. He just makes a trap that catches other things. We have seen it with Tesla and the competition in the EV industry. Space X is already venturing into other technologies and businesses and the synergy with Starlink is one to look out for. But look, all these are real frontier stuff For me I prefer to sit by the sidelines.and watch. There is just too much uncertainty out there and too much hubris in the markets because we all believe that with Elon....what can go wrong? |
Gerrard59:Na. They don't carry sentiment on their heads like we Africans. You will be surprised that some Democrats are some of his closest business allies. |
ZombieDredd:The Dangote Refinery stock will ride the wave of his African expansion vision and prospects of dominating the midstream sector throughout the continent. However the fundamentals of the refining business is that it is highly sensitive to for ea beyond their control and the margins are wafer thin. The majors do not depend on their refining portfolios for their profits. Dangote should swim upstream for that added insurance. If you want to buy, buy. At least in Nigeria the Dangote brand is too big to fail. |
HeatSeeker:May be. But for different reasons. Dangote is an open book in all sorts of ways so price movements will be entirely down to the normal market dynamics. |
Any IPO in high tech comes with a lot of risk. Any IPO in space related technology is virtually unheard of. Any IPO that concerns Elon Musk comes with considerable baggage. These three things make for serious caution, a wait and see attitude. There are just too many unknowns and uncertainties. Tomorrow I will not be surprised if he ventures into the defence industry this taking on even more risk. |
Julibet:Not housing. How can taxpayers money be used to build houses that benefit (low cost) a few. We know how it will all end,.th high and mighty in government corner everything and share to family and friends. What the government can do is to industrialize the production of building materials. Materials constitute 50 percent of the cost of projects. Seed industrial concerns for the production of everything from sand through roofing sheets to window panes and there will be a meeting of supply and demand to find a reasonable value of projects. |
Your country as a whole has taken the subculture global masquerading or can I say, packaged as search for foreign investment. But we all know it is a nifty name for hustling.... international begging. When the foreign investors say, 'oh, we cannot come to your country due to this and that,' your leaders will still not give up., 'okay, but if you cannot come with your investment, can you give us a loan to start up...' ![]() |
Ekuke promax...ekuke chassis...hahahahaha, you guys are terrible. Chai.,.. if the dog fit read na immediate suicide...hahaha,.. ![]() |
CaseSensitive:So you are not interested in what government has or doesn't have and how they spend your money. It is foreign interests that are your main concern. Is there anyone on this earth you give money to personally for one purpose or the other that you don't ask what, how, where it went. Even money you 'dash' out, you are interested in knowing how it is spent or misspent, not to talk of critical responsibilities for which you are paying out of your nose for. We have this collective disease called ignorance (not saying it condescendingly) but in the fact that the things we should know to make our lives better in this country we willfully refuse to know and those that rule exploit this irresponsiblity. |
The people are not interested Uncle Sam. A packet of parboiled rice will deep fry their thinking and they will handover the keys of the nation's vault to AliBaba. |
The political analyst said, 'it will strengthen support amongst Muslims...' Meaning it will do what amongst Christians...strengthen them too.... Anyway, for a relationship, any sort of relationship for that matter, to abide overtime, one of the parties must continue to clean up after. |
