KingMack:Hahahahaha....they too are taking notes...'Kai see flenty flenty ayon...walahi na me get dat gada...' Good one to decongest that place. Lekki remains the preeminent tourist destination in Lagos. Pity it has such poor infrastructure to match. |
occfx:Not so sure. The Saudi Pro is getting tougher by the season. Even this league I think is above and beyond Ange's persistent lack of a Plan B in his gameplay. It won't be easy for Al-Nassr. Even with the best gaffer the league has seen in recent seasons - Jorge Jesus,.it took a yeoman's work for them to win. Can't see a repeat. |
Jayhome24:Sack a hundred. They will be back in a week. Are the DSS and policemen not under this same evo only struggling for survival, together with immigration and customs. Why do you think the President recently raised the compensation of the military.... Someone must have whispered to him that their take home pay is compromising their allegiances and eroding their oath and threatened to completely undermine the war against terror. If you cannot see the nexus between the declining economy and the degrading fabric of society in all sorts of ways, some unimaginable just a few years ago then...I really don't know. But better be for your own safety and sanity. |
Nananana...Keyamo. that is not how to do it. You had better consult the Doctor and High Chief of 'Agreement' himself...the indefatigable Nyesom 'Wikky Wicket' Wike himself. One, two he will bring out the agreement and get the 'dancing' governor gyrating to his Alawada band... ![]() |
Streetinvestor2:At the last 4 lines....toh. What can I say. In a country where 4th became 1st. In a country where a person who did not participating primaries got elected into office...and on and on.... |
Oga Theo, it is a feudal society you operate in. Mr. Adeleke is simply acknowledging that and pandering to whom can hurt him most. There are still a million things that can go against him and his government going forward and until we as a people can unshackle ourselves from the spirit of feudalism and embrace the liberty independent and unbiased institutions of governance provide them we can never be free....to pander or not to pander...to 'dobale' or not to 'dobale' Have you forgotten it was Mr. President that called off the attack by the EFCC. Where will Mr. Adeleke have seen the inducement his party was sharing to would be voters. So he has to be grateful that Mr. President 'ALLOWED' him to win.... ![]() You can win but you can also be ALLOWED to win. In Nigeria plc these are not the same.....at all. |
I honestly don't know what to say or even to make of this whole thing. I just hope there will be a thorough, unbiased investigation into the whole issue from sunrise to sunset. May his family and friends be granted the fortitude to bear his life and his death on this very, very sad occasion. |
edogu:Thank you for this thoughtful post. Energy is used for everything from medicare to food processing. Things that affect millions of people that want no part in this senseless war. People so weak they simply cannot bring their weight bear on their leaders to stop hostilities and resume negotiations. It is just a pity. Whether the hardliners in Iran or the hawks in Washington, they all need to be thoroughly ashamed on themselves. |
Jayhome24:How many will.you lock up. How many times has FAAN clamped down. But within days they are back. It is like trying to hold the sea back. And the source is evident, destroyed economy that is making animals of men.and stripping even the timid of their dignity. The problem is that we pretend not to know what is behind this and worse act correctness thinking it doesn't matter. But even the upper and upper middle class can no longer ignore it. Society is delaminating. I am on an engineering field right now, I have been aghast....amazed.. It is strictly forbidden and a case for immediate dismissal but his story is simple. Parents are now forced into extraordinary measures to make ends meet. And in his case care has to be shared. His house is empty of everyone. We are in extraordinary times and we need to understand these people and make the necessary adjustments to accommodate them one.way or the other or the situation can go south very quickly and lead to serious social unrest and God forbid the breakdown of law and order. That particular worker has been with me for twelve years...what do I do.... |
Everyone say...HSE, Health, Safety and the Environment. As your economy declines and more people are pushed into abject poverty expect ENVIRONMENTAL nuisance such as this. It is not rocket science. There is just no alternative to a well run economy. You can stay in your well nested cocoon, feeding off government and thinking all is well in the country. When you step out reality hits you hard and you will not be able to evade or avoid it except you are Mr. President who is FAMILIAR with his gatekeepers anytime he is in Ikoyi... Or.you simply go about in disguise. Dress like a peon. |
seunmsg:Rice should be rested for the morenimportant games and for the run in. He is a bigger player for the moment. |
seunmsg:I never knew one could say this about an English and Spanish midfielder. Spain and midfielders are like dogs and ticks. But anytime Zubi plays he just looks.... inadequate. |
SQLmastar:Certainly. No king reigns forever. At some point something starts wearing out and breaking down. I think pushing City over the Champions league line took so much out of him. After that title it was downhill in fits and starts. |
Slippy:Well you have to upgrade the software and it costs 100 million pounds let season. |
Pep will be on a beach somewhere sipping a cocktail with Starlink by his side watching the game.....'they thought it was easy...' |
Angelfrost:Glad you are here for the new season. One of the few pundits I enjoy on this forum. |
Basic123:To be quite honest, they did not. They probably thought political correctness is the way to go. Have their lives in general changed for the better since then....almost certainly no. But when you scare the government enough by displaying courage in midterms, you get them to start thinking more about the people than themselves. Ekiti and Edo earlier, dropped the ball no doubt. They let the generality of Nigerians down. With enough courage they will have forced the government into negotiations on the way up and out of the he dire situation Nigeria finds itself, a discourse those in government do not want. |
I see. So you can see what a tag team can do v a certain political Yokozuna. Hope the Atiku's and Obi's of this country are taking notes. They barely registered on the ballot yesterday. |
nduchucks:Final forfeiture orders have been dished out for Emefiele's, Achimugu's, Malami's properties just to mention a few. We don't need to waste money building anything new. Just take him on a shopping trip to the various eye candies scattered around Abuja. I am sure those felons will be willing to give the hero a guided tour to pick his choice.... ![]() |
Hmmm...if he is kidnapped the ransom demanded will be more than the house is worth. It was not very nice to have given him a house in that sort of place in the first place for goodness sake. Not asking government to build for him, but the government confiscates hundreds of properties every year from looters and other unworthy elements. Can't they just cut some out for worthy people for once. |
jesusjnr2020:Muslims are not evil. I don't know what kind of sick thinking is that in the first place. Yes, there is quite a bit of misinformation circulating amongst certain sects as to the place and position of other faiths and creeds but it is not enough to define a religion. Wish to remind Christians that their faith was not always the way they practice it today. Their forefather in the faith carried out their own 'Jihads' across most of the known world. It is up for debate as to where Islam stands today compared to Christianity 500 years ago which was far more intense, bloodier, and in which even the average professing Christian today will have stood no chance of survival. |
Okay, even if we are not able to get information from the borrower, the government. Can't we get information from the lender(s)....or are they too exempt from the FOI. At least if you and I go to lending institutions they ask us what the loans are for and we produce mountains of documents in response so there is evidence of demand. So what were these loans for.... |
WhizdomXX:That Omisore is probably the strongest candidate for governor pound for pound in Osun at the moment. I wonder why the establishment has continued to ignore him. Was my neighbour all.those years ago in Lagos, Ikeja to be specific and he was into politics then. |
allthingsgood:He is not popular on the floor of this country. Just take that. What is he popular for.... You just cannot see it, hear it without inducement of one kind or the other aka carrot and stick. Not saying Adeleke is outrightly popular either. But on the streets of you strip the screws you will not find many that think they want more of this government. |
It is very clear that people really don't like the ruling party. I am certain if an unbiased, straw poll is conducted the popularity will be really low. Ordinarily this should jolt them into action, positive a action relating to good governance. They should become more conscious and attentive and responsive to the people in the short time left before the general elections. I did say after the Edo elections that the people of that State had a grand opportunity of not just changing their fortunes but become heros to the greater nation by a protest vote against the government and the ruling party by shunning them. But some folks said politics was local. So how has the force of local politics helped the standard of living of the average Edolite compared to the might of federal decisions. If the ruling party had lost all the 'midterm' elections since 2023 I am cocksure that a lot of policy changes the people suffer today will have been checked and a lot of more people friendly decisions will have been made. As I said I just hope the Feds see this as a heads-up warning and that it stimulates an introspection. The other danger the society should also be conscious about is that it could also make them double down on underground, anti democratic moves inorder to bypass popular opinion. Nigerians should be vigilant. Those who celebrate now should not think liberty is won just yet. |
nairalanda1:Okay. But they should have money to pay for gas to electricity bills. That is a government owned stadium. It belongs to the Federal government. A whole Federal government that has access to all our taxes, revenues and credit beyond imagination and with a workforce of hundreds of thousands of people both live and ghosts on its payroll cannot find a team of people who will go into that stadium once every week or month in some cases to: Clean, oil, wash, cut, paint, test, service, replace, etc to keep that place looking decent. Will it cost an arm and a leg to do so. The money they are handing out at polling stations 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 can rather pay volunteers to clean up after match-day or public events. EVEN IF THEY DO NOT COLLECT A PENNY from the users which is just ridiculous. And with a government that is responsible and close to the public, able to mobilize the populace because of it's popularity volunteers will even do it for free. It is ALWAYS about lack when it comes to the right thing but they will always find the money when it benefits them. That is CULTURE. |
omooba969:Because we love CONTRACTS instead of WORK. To maintain is to be there everyday on a salary, cleaning, cutting, painting, sweeping, washing.....no one likes that. Hard work. So they head for the hills But when they hear, 'Request for CONTRACT to renovate'.....1 BILLION....then they come running.down from the hills showing emotions as if they care. The Abuja ICC scandal (in my opinion) is the poster child for a rotten system. A so called Facilities Manager was appointed costing billions, left the place in tatters and then the dissatisfied Minister cancels and awards a CONTRACT running into more billions to renovate and the facility manager had the temerity to solicit for it.,... |
RebirthPhoenix:Zero maintenance culture. This renovation will be the last till another jamboree. In the meantime it can be considered pasture. |
I didn't know you could get an HIV test done in 5 minutes. Must be some world record ....well what do I know... |
1vandragon:The taxpayer that foots the bills of children he did not sure. As for me the less revenue the government gets the better, the saner I will become and the sweeter my sleep will be. For those who choose to throw away their hard earned money doing their civic responsibility and refuse to hold the wasters to account....how miserable will you feel being ripped off by your fellow man. Let me see the idiot who will say Government revenue is not enough. |
plessis:It's more about structure and interests than energy that ties a leader to Dodan Barracks or Aso Rock as it used to be. You would ordinarily think that Military Heads of State in times past did more touring because they were fitter by profession and tended to be younger than their civilian counterparts. But that is not the reason. The reason is simply. Structure and Interests or psychology. One, they simply did not have the excessive red tape enormous bureaucracies of civilian regimes. The retinue of assistants and advisers have made civilian presidents lazy. They have relinquished the responsibilities of physical assessment and contact aka pressing the flesh to intermediaries in an absolute feudal manner whereas military leaders are by training and doctrine, leaders FROM THE FRONT. Secondly..Civilian regimes are notorious by their nature of being smothered by interests. By their nature of power from popularity they live to serve those that facilitate their rule and are held captive all regime long by interests. So they are always receiving GUESTS, entourages, praise singers, bootlickers from dawn to dusk. January to December they have mouths to feed like the proverbial octopus that lives to bear offspring and dies thereafter. The deeper the allegiances the less such leaders are available to the public. So, Mr. Obi as a civilian has the time and texture of a popular grass rooter now. But if he ever gets the top job, his access or preference for the public will be defined by the way he gets there and his very ability to accommodate or resist the ways of his predecessors. |
None of my business. Said enough. This is exactly how the people wish to be governed. Who am I to object. |
