Ahayalift:I made a long list of sectors government should be investing in for massive job creation using the resources of the people themselves to establish them. But three and a half years later. Nothing. Once a while they throw money at a few people and call that economic stimulus. No policy, no vision, no diretion. I have said it countless times. The hope of this government is that you and I adjust to the reality of austerity, of grinding poverty and find a away to still lay the golden egg they need to satisfy their contractor friends and family. They have no plan whatsoever for the kind of economic recovery you and I understand as a recovery, the kind other nations have achieved out of downturns. You work, they benefit. Classic feudalism. |
Great to see Jesus being magnified at the highest levels of man's greatest pastime. |
Here we go again. Thought the nation had surmounted this brouhaha.... |
Very soon they will ask the Heads of the Military, Police and other para military organisations to go out to campaign afterall those are political appointments too. That bridge is not too far now. And he is supposed to be a Professor. |
Well, the clergyman delivered the message the vast majority of the citizens wished to. They are certainly in the thick of things and not hidden behind high walls and electric fences, shut out of reality by hordes of court jesters calling themselves advisers and assistants. It is up to the President to think about these things...or not. We know he won't. He is set in his ways. Just remember. Elections have consequences. Don't say you have never heard that. |
Akharmony:Governors do not control macro economics. They do not have a separate central bank to manage monetary policy. They do not have the Federal Ministry of Finance to control trade tariffs and many other tools that make for an independent economy. And that is why the standard of living of a man living in Cross-River is no better or worse than a person living in Kaduna. Even where states can invest in infrastructure, education, industrialization, etc, all these are done or undine by Federal policies. Not until true Federalism or the restructuring that waters down the power of the centre concerning the economy. Even in highly structurally independent countries like the United States, the state of the economy rests squarely in Washington DC and in the White House to be specific. |
Sheuns:That may be his legacy the way he is going. Ten, twenty years down the line a lot of folks will place him in the same dispatch box as his predecessor. |
Do or die, simple. No calculators here. |
If you really want to enjoy catfish just raise them in their natural habitat and you eliminate, 80 percent of the problems. If you have the money just buy up wetlands, flood plains, river valleys, all these a bit out of town. They are usually cheap and undesirable. When urbanisation catches up the value of your land will be worth selling and moving further away. Avoid urban low lands as you will be dealing with pollution which is not good for fish and huge waste management challenges. In their natural habitats feeding is less except if you are chasing targets and water management is less complex. If you let duckweed and other water plants grow in rotational stocking it will help clean the water. Natural ponds also provide natural antibiotics due to complex chemistry in soil, water and plants making your fish hardier just like free range poultry is more resistant to diseases. The downsides are the initial costs of building earthen ponds and the infrastructure need to keep predators out, to harvest and control flooding when it occurs. By the way stocking density is also more for natural ponds of similar volumes. |
Shellsploit:They went home.... Wetin concern herdsman for Manhattan..... ![]() |
Why should you even want to change the entire volume of water at once or within a short period. Why not regulate it for optimal quality by constant and equal in and outflow determined and adjusted according to temperature, fish size/feed frequency and inclement weather (faster during the dry, slower during the rains. The natural catfish habitat is not laboratory clean water. As long as it holds sufficient oxygen and ammonia levels are controlled (experienced folks can tell that from the smell) your fish will do just fine. And borehole or rainwater is preferable to municipal water that is dozed with chlorine and other chemicals fish do not adjust well to. |
What Atiku said through his assistant is true. Baba should let go. Yes, Atiku has quite a lot of baggage to travel with to the highest office but his contribution towards the OBJ administration was qualitative, the best Vice President in the 5th Republic by a country mile. |
franchasng:It is only people that fight that know the value of peace. War is not good. If it was, those that send them off to fight and die will be first in line to 'enjoy' it. But they hide in bunkers and other fortifications. Their ideological supporters sit behind keyboards and hide behind internet enabled phones to goad 'others' on to their deaths and destruction. |
Been on Band A since the get go so I don't expect my bills to go any further than they are right now. For the rest of electricity consumers on other bands, so sorry. |
traware:Ah, that is why the fight to ensure the game doesn't disintegrate in our generation. If people don't fight for values in any walk of life the barbarians are always banging at the gates. It is in the nature of nature to ultimately ruin any creation of man. Is there anything manmade that remains forever without 'maintenance'.... Not saying Infantino is all bad. He has done great for the spread of the game to all nooks and crannies of the world and has given non traditional nations a seat in the sun whether by participation or hosting opportunities and rights respectively. But that fast car need brakes when it reaches a bend or fork in the road. His latest agenda is a no brainier. You cannot put a price on justice. FIFA should be to the 'beautiful game' what God Almighty is to all creation. How do you monetize that, how does any individual or group of people want to own that. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:The whole thing is so funny. How do you privatize an Association. How do you sell shares in such. Federations come together under an umbrella for a common purpose. Federations who are associations in themselves. And then the leader they elect wakes up one day and decides to hand over everything to an investor to control.....just unbelievable. And here I thought these things are only possible in banana republics. You can imagine Oluomo buying controlling shares in NURTW...or olodo uprising buying controlling shares in ASUU. |
traware:No sir. The moment you go down that road you begin to play with the influence money has on the running of the game. Jared will not stop at 20 percent. He will want more and more and then he will begin to influence the sport itself and guess what begin to Americanise it. Already Infantino has bent so much to America he is poised to take it from the rear. Water breaks aka commercial timeouts will become regular revenue streams and in the future shareholders will determine who gets a red card and who doesn't. If FIFA goes fully private why can't the NFF here sell shares too, why can't the police, the judiciary, road safety, NAFDAC, and other institutions of regulation, supervision and justice sell shares so that the big boys completely control all institutions legally ......a brave new world indeed. At the end it is Africa that will end up with the short end of the stick. |
dechriz:The earlier he is ejected out of FIFA like a spent shotgun cartridge the better. |
Shady fellows flock together. The USA has thoroughly corrupted this organization and turned.it into a typical capitalist American enterprise where money speaks and big money quakes. |
Fuckyoumod:But if you don't answer them they will leave and the system is left to decay in the hands of the less competent and committed. Has it occured to you the reason why the system doesn't work well is that the best have left. I know of many cases where people have to call their friends and relations overseas to connect and direct them to their colleagues and fellow professionals back home to get prompt and efficient medicare. Because those they see when they walk into the neighborhood facility are just not up to scratch. Whether you like it or not, whether the government accepts it or not the medical profession is top of the tree in terms of professional criticality everywhere in the world. The demand and supply is global. You are not ready to provide and support them adequately there are thousands of other diseased, dying.and debilitated people in systems everywhere else ready to. Their oath is to serve human beings before passports and borders. Nigeria is NOT DOING WELL in terms of human capacity development. |
Mindlog:Probably all they can afford. That is the state of the country. People play with the seriousness of the brain drain phenom. If you have medical practitioners in your family (and I will encourage every family in Nigeria to culture at least one) then you will not only understand the problems in the health sector but you might just save your life or someone close in time of trouble. These are the things we see and say, we are not just developing as a country. Human capital development. It is not only about roads and bridges. |
That is absolutely correct. If the present continues to yo blame the past for all things after so long in office, then the future will blames the present and on and on. Meaning that we are doomed to have governments come and go without fundamental change. Little wonder voter apathy continues to spread and deepen when they cannot relate their civic responsibilities with their social experiences. So will the citizenry come together to break this vicious cycle and deliver hard, high pressure advocacy for good governance.....or continue to pander to excuses and stagnate and stink like a swamp. |
Mr. Umshi, People will vote for whoever they like. They will vote according to their experiences in the country you presently govern. If their experiences are good they will wish to continue. If their experiences are untenable they will vote for a change, period. I have never seen or heard of any democracy in the world whereby people vote because of roads, or bridges, or hospitals or stadia or schools or markets proposed or being constructed. They vote because of the aggregate quality of life aka the standards of living and the hope it is secured for another few years. They vote for justice and the hope of equitable living under the Constitution. They vote for liberties and the desire to live peaceful, happy and prosperous lives. |
Wow, just wow. They say without tariff increase they cannot survive. They say they are not involved in data scams. They say your tariffs are some of the lowest in the world. They say the operating environment in the country is ultra difficult. They whine and wail.... You begin to have pity on them them, you want to lend a shoulder for them to cry on then boom..... You see that girl friend who has been barging you for that urgent 2k, for the last magnet in your ATMcard, at the airport about to fly out on holidays on the back of hundreds, thousands of urgent 2kays gathered over months of hustling a million simps..... That is what MTN is doing. Plain, open, raw shellacking. Banks have been doing it for centuries. They tell you they don't need your coins, they take it all the same, Dangote will soon do his after crying out all year that his oily business is about to sink into the Atlantic because he cannot get cheap crude from the NNPC. Then they will all come out declaring some obscene, insanely gargantuan profit in the midst of widespread austerity torturing the long-suffering citizen....with cut throat priced goods and services. Is this meant to be a provocation or what....MTN eh.. .. |
The cheapest source of protein is your voters card. Elections do have serious consequences. Been saying that for a decade and a half on this forum. |
Hand art. Just love it. Better than tattoos that remain literally forever. This is barely 'skin deep' and just plain art. No messages, connotations, vulgarity or innuendos. |
But I think what government can do to tailor this scenario since it is entrenched socio-economic culture is to organise these young entrepreneurs around industry such that they can pool these resources to open up small to medium scale industrial concerns. The government can have an equity by way of land and infrastructure investments and the responsibility at the bottom end for securing trade in local and international markets for the products or goods delivered. Much as trade has been a lynch pin of the Nigerian economy for decades I think it is better to take the next organic step forward towards massive industrialization. And the young men and women coming out of mentorship should be the face of a new generation of entrepreneurs. This is only possible by visionary and dedicated political leadership. |
bestman09:Your government is spending 15 trillion to build 'Coastal Highway' to satisfy Chagoury's tourism utopia and you are asking this question when the bricks and mortar, the engine room of the economy is left unattended. That is the same kind of thinking. Flashy stuff with a hollow core. Hot air with no substance. Prosperity without plan, purpose or pursuit. We have cried out endlessly. Invest in the tools of the trade FIRST. In the lad's case I will not even say invest in training, learning because the 8 years was subsidized. So he should have been equiped 'no pun intended' to start from the foundation. And by the way if the windfall caught him unawares without a plan in place, just like Peter Obi he should have just placed the money in securities to maintain value while he sorts out the brick and mortar stuff. China is a clean cut, clear and open example to all governments around the world particularly third world governments about how to build their countries into a strong, prosperous ones. |
If so, that's good. Folks should give us the raw data on both factors. |
He is a criminal. Like the police chase that is interrupted when the felons toss the contraband out the window or flush it down th toilet when the door is busted in. Folks who praise the man's belligerence should realise that anything could be on that phone. Child porn, impersonation, advance fee fraud or evidence suggesting violent crime, gang affiliation, narcotics, weapons, etc. Things that could affect everyday people. In a free society such as that no one will delete associations or evidence of political views or even naughty, embarrassing pictures or videos. People only run and hide when a crime has been committed, when the law has been breached. |
Take your own medicine Mr. President The FG's herd of white elephants is equally legendary. Coastal road priority while the major Federal arteries remain dilapidated. Mr. Adams in the Senate uncovered the tip of the massive iceberg just yesterday. Gas pipeline proposed to Morocco to continue the malaise of raw materials export besetting Africa, as if we have not learnt enough from the crude oil refining tragedy. All these while Gencos and local industries struggle with inadequate energy nfrastructure. Rail line to Nigeria republic while trucks and semis wreck havoc on our highways due to not a single cross country rail line. In 2026 a semi travels over a thousand kilometres across the country carrying thirty tonnes of goods and burning through N800,000 worth of diesel alone while a train will cut that to about N300,000. There are not enough strategic thinkers in this country. From governors to the President himself, none are ready to invest directly in the productivity of the people who are the real value of the economy. True wasters they all are. |
