Hope we don't hear one day in a universe far, far away.... That he has become the Minister of Finance to the Federal Republic of.....sorry to the Galactic Federation.... ![]() |
anonimi:This your poster should be on the gates of the National Assembly....with a huge, big, fat question mark.... |
It is the oil windfall part I am totally amazed about. Complete and utter silence. The government and it's fan So....what has happened. Nigeria has not turned to the Garden of Eden despite this gift from the gods of war since January, 8 months or so and counting.... |
And what happens next, after the Gulf states have been drawn into the war, Europe is bound to join at some point since it is now dawning on the combatants that the two wars in the Mid East and Ukraine are interlinked.....World War III loading.... Someone told Europe to start serious armament. It is either the person had significant foresight or this was the plan all along. Told you folks de-escalation was the only sensible option. If the world goes to war there will be global economic recession the likes of which we have never seen before. And expect Africa to be the grass underneath elephant feet. War doesn't pay anyone. |
echoxyz:Always carrying sentiment around like a badge of honour. The exact reason why nobody ever pays for high crimes in this country. Why we remain under developed. |
Ttipsy:They say things are getting better, yet the fundamentals remain the same or are in a decline. You are absolutely correct. You only see road blocks in nations at war. What we see means we have been at war since the 80's when I first saw one. How can a country that claims to be progressive normalize the abnormal. Is there no other way of decent and effective law enforcement. What do we as a people want, how do we understand governance, what are our standards and how do we effect them. Because this life we live as Nigerians is just a stumble from one terrible state to the other caused by our inability to think through our selfishness and crass sentiment. We all praised the appointment of the new IG vociferously months back. Today, what can we claim as distinct differences between our law enforcement experiences before and after his appointment.... little to none. Just changing for changing sake. Musical chairs of misery, just as the polity. |
Issues like the corruption in the police has been going on for decades, virtually since independence and the victims, the people cannot bring their political influence to end it once and for all. I still cannot understand what people obtain PVC's and stand in the sun on election days for. You keep on voting yet nothing changes and you say things are working....how? |
MURIC should not have spoken on this matter. It is none of their business. Now it looks entirely religious rather than a matter of safety and decency. Just wonder why we just cannot evolve our society properly. This thoughtlessness is a millstone round our necks. |
jojothaiv:Unseriouous country, useless government. This is months after the proposal for the creation of state police was first mooted. It is stuck in useless red tape with useless debates about who controls what in the face of needless deaths, destruction and despair. If it was about money, about contracts, about taxes, about increases in rates and tariffs it will long have been effected. But service to the people is now rocket science. I don't blame them. The people who should be banging on the doors of Aso Rock and the Three Arms Zone are busy fighting over who can kiss ass best... |
Two minutes ago....two minutes twenty, one, two three, four.... |
Just take your own sheets, pillowcase and towels.....and allergy pills. Nigerian hotels are something else. |
yarimo:Where the First Lady got her billions running close to a hundred the last time I checked, is exactly where Mr. Obi is getting his, though his donations are nowhere near hers. |
The man appears to love the Nursing Profession. Good one, good identity. |
Seeplusplus:We are not an intellectual society. No one wants to know anything, investigate anything properly. Collapsed buildings, air accidents, epidemics, un natural deaths, no one is interested. Just a while ago a young lady was lost in mysterious circumstances and you had a nation split down the middle with an issue as mundane as an autopsy. So why are we surprised that the facts surrounding the demise of perhaps the most infamous leader of this country in all history remains unknown. |
Because humans are being genetically modified by their environment. There are a lot more toxins in the air, land and water than there used to be. The plastics crises is truly scary. I recently heard that microplastics have been found in human semen. You can imagine what that will cause when it combines with microplastics that are resident in the woman's placenta. No one yet knows what these things do to the human body but it is clear that humanity is seriously altering it's own physiology by his own hands. So that water or beverage you drink from that PET bottle, that ready meal you eat out of that styrofoam clamshell is secretly altering your DNA tick-tock. |
I thought there is something in insignia where when you win a certain number it changes. Ten stars on a board is ridiculously too much. They should make ten stars equal one hammer, so that when we won this one, it will be one hammer and one star..... ![]() |
dequir:So what is your solution....keep the war going... You don't want the war but chose the path of cause and effect. Go down that path and you will be talking ancient history. What is your solution I say again. You are talking Netenyahu. When did Israel attack Iran last...weeks ago. They have been told to stop and they have stopped. That is de-escalation. But 'mischef' is trying to reignite unnecessary fires. |
obi4eze:Absolutely. Was so disappointed when Retegui, arguably their best striker then left the Serial A for the Saudi Pro, and his form has subsequently crashed. But it is the sign if the times. The Series A is becoming a second tier league. Investment is paltry and wages cannot compete with the top tier leagues. And this has spilled into national team football. |
Baxilexi:And how is the IRGC a threat to the US. The problem with the US is all the security pacts it has with various so called allies around the world. Yes, it gains a massive economic advantage by selling arms and is first in line at the buffet they offer, but at what cost. Let everyone pursue their nuclear ambitions and let me see if this madness won't stop. |
Absolutely. Cannot see what the gain is. Let the Gulf countries face Iran which is holding their economies hostage by themselves. |
Italy is seriously lacking in top level talent. Very few managers can make anything of that country's footy fortunes. |
Staple in my secondary school. Hated it to bits, particularly if your Company happens to get the bottom of the enormous cauldrons they cook with. Then it will surely be burnt and as bitter as gall. |
See the mess. So he is admitting his agency is not independent. The referee wages is funded by the competing clubs. So Manchester City will win the Prem without end. |
guobe:I doubt that. |
Mynd44:It is always about the money. That is the ideology, the values they all share. The guarantee that governments will come and go. One unpopular government will be replaced by a popular one and instantly become unpopular. Because of the age old malaise of selfishness. Nigeria is huge disappointment. Day by day the proof becomes clearer that those who want a new government are no different from those who sit there. |
Evolution in real time. |
The day has ended I have come back to check if someone has arrived at what the Cost Reflective tarrif is...is it N300 per kwh, 400, 500, 800, 1,000, 10,000 naira per kwh. In the petroleum sector (BSR) we used to hear that our gasoline was the cheapest in the world and it was x,y,z compared to a,b,c in saner climes. Why can't we do same for power since the interests say our electricity is too cheap and doesn't reflect the cost of producing it. So WHAT IS THE REAL COST OF 1kwh. Can anyone venture that so that we know just how far away we are from the utopia. How far behind we are to sanity. |
Some of the deadliest diseases in history from the the black plague in the middle ages to typhus in the 20th century, to our all too familiar Lassa Fever....after the humble mosquito the rat takes the cake as public enemy number 2. Please if you sight a rat nearby, give no rest to your eyes till you pronounce it dead and buried. As for contaminated food, the advice is to stick to a particular vendor when buying cold foods. The street is unforgiving, the night time street market is playing Russian roulette with your life. |
Yampotatocarrot:Oga, you just got the nail on the head and it returns to exactly what I started out saying. Electricity is drifting away from the telecoms model where rates are agreed between stakeholders, consumers, regulators and service providers in a fair and equitable manner to the petroleum model where prices/tariffs change on the fly, according to 'external forces'. That is the fact that Nigerians have to grasp. What makes their electricity bills going forward are beyond the industry, perhaps beyond the government regulators. So it will not be a question of the tariff rates investors will be looking at but one of the overall economy and the capacity to afford the service they offer. |
I thought maybe I was crazy or something so I went back to the internet and it's there. 225kwh is the COST REFLECTIVE TARIFF for electricity in. Nigeria. This was a claim by the NERC a year and a half ago. Okay, top it up to reflect inflation, fine. People will pay. So what is the fuss. I repeat again. In that time period more consumers have been moved to Band A (with or without their consent) than have moved in the opposite direction despite poorer services. So revenues to DISCO's should be rising and the revenue gap shrinking. If they want to place everyone on Band A they should just make that distinction clear. But if they really mean that the tariffs on Band A et al, are not cost reflective and a blanket tariff increase is coming then they lied a year and a half ago. And they should come out CLEARLY to tell us what the REAL COST REFLECTION is. We cannot continue to chase our tails. Countries are not run like this. |
nairalanda1:So what is the cost reflective tariff since you are an expert in this field. Put a figure on this and let the government set it there. Nigerians will pay. Nigerians have always payed. But I assure you that before the year ends you will hear that they are still subsidizing. They said (no one forced them to) that Band A was zero subsidy. So what has happened. No one is abusing anyone here. If you are under pressure. It is because you are trying to simplify a very complex situation and make the average citizen the villain. But the truth is that everything rate and tariffs that this government has intended to increase, it has. |
