^^^ May be you stop using 1, 2, 3, 4, they are from Arabs (Arabic numerals). you have to stop using Trigonometry and Algebra among other Muslim / Arab investions also. Since you don't like to use anything Islamic |
Atiku already said the same about the budjet last year. When he stated that spending 70% on recurrent expenses was not good for development, Aganga and other politicians shut him down, I think dem go listen to Okonjo now. |
Inisa Odo Otin, LGA, Osun state: A monument was erected at the bank of River Otin to commemorate the defeat of Ilorin during the Jalumi war. |
Rgp92:It is the responsibility of the govt to provide enabling environment for the populace to get good training. They are responsible because they are the custodians of the wealth of, and taxes paid in the land. There is nothing any individual can do on his own if the govt does not patronize them. For more that 20 year the govt have been playing hanki panki with award of 2nd Niger Delta bridge to Nigeria engineers. When refineries were established in the 70s / 80s Many Nigerians were sent abroad trained to run them, same for the Steel rolling mills and other Industries and such as NAFCON etc, Nigerians ran them the engineering aspects, Nigeria Railways had one of the best training schools in Africa at Iddo , All these were destroyed with by Politicians and Military because they like to be importers. So blame the govt not Nigerian Engineers. The same graduates go to school abroad to do their masters and they break records, they come back home and are making us proud. Now the ministers are about to be sworn in out of almost 40 men and women, only 1 is being called an Engineer, yet we have bad roads all over the place, infrastructures are non existent |
Abayomin70:they already cleared the crowd from banking hall since. Withdrawing less than N80,000 over the counters attracts fees, so crowd you in the bank now are depositors or those needing services that cannot be done at ATM. BTW don't you like to see "poor" people? |
0lumide:my brother be realistic, no disriminations, even now there are banks who will tell you outright that they dont service LPO from certain institutions or dont fund some kind of business due to thier risk taken ethics. You cannot force someone to borrow you money and vise versa. You may be able to borrow for housing but he gets as dem they do am, its still contributory. |
Olumide: Check the CBN guidance it has nothing to do with Sharia Compliance. I am not surprised that Stanbic IBTC is leading the pack, South Africa has very strong and educated Muslim community and they have vibrant Islamic banks. I remember also seeing the Standard Bank in Doha, so they have experience. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CBN Issues New Guidelines for Non-Interest Banking The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued new guidelines for the operation of Non-interest banking in Nigeria. The new guidelines are the outcome of the review of the earlier guidelines issued based on the recommendations of various stakeholders. The new guidelines clarify the contextual definition of Non-interest banking which is not restricted to Islamic banking, but also include other form of non-interest banking not based on Islamic principle. This is in accordance with the provisions of Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) which clearly provide for the two variants of Non-interest banking. This ensures that discrimination on any grounds in the participation by individuals or institutions as promoters, depositors or other relevant parties in any transaction regarding a non-interest financial institutions, whether based on Islamic or other model, is strictly prohibited. Another significant review is the removal of any reference to Sharia Council which has been changed to Advisory Council of Experts whose responsibility is to advise the CBN on the appropriateness of relevant financial products to be offered by the institutions. For the avoidance of doubt, section 23 (1) and section 66 of the BOFIA 1991, (as amended) explicitly provide for the licensing of Non-Interest Banks (NIBs). The CBN is obliged, by law, to issue licenses to appropriate entities for the establishment of NIBs provided they meet the regulatory requirements for licenses. In view of this, the CBN is open to receiving and evaluating applications for licensing of non-interest banking institutions based on other principles rather than the Islamic variant and will soon issue separate guidelines for non-interest banking under other principles. ^^^ Whatever the case, LCC added to an already bad situation by not taken necessary precautionary measure, which should have been part of their EIA for the project. I visit friends at Igbo efon, and i know that cars have never been so threatened as it is right now. Even SUVs drivers think twice before driving thru. It has never been like that, The road Igbo Efon Road especially. |
@Johnie, Maybe you work for LCC so I can understand your sentiments. I have leaved in the area for more than 9 yrs (not Igbo Efon in particular) and I can tell you they have never had that kind of flood, they always had flash flood that drains away when rain stopped. If LCC acted with the people's concerns in mind, they would have opened the drain to the other side before raising the road above developed structures level. This what they did at shoprite area just before the Admiralty Toll Plaza. |
Fasola is doing well in areas of infrastructures, even at that he needs to do more by making sure the contractors act responsibly, right the people of Alpha Beach and Igbo Efon areas don't care about the Eko Oni baje because their own Lagos is flooded now due to unending road construction. 2 kids died yesterday in the flood. The resident had to block the road for hours this morning, This were the same people that voted massively for his second term few months back. The other aspect his need to act is the LASU of school. I wonder if anyone graduates from that school. The so called part Time school just a fraud to say the list, I hear over the radio that some people have to abandon the program after spending up to 8 years with out end in sight. incessant closures multiple missing results without any explanations. Ki Eko ko ma baje o |
http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art2011070312322431 The United Bank for Africa Plc will, from September, peg the minimum balance for savings and current accounts to N25, 000, an employee of the bank has confirmed. The member of staff, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja, on condition of anonymity, said the idea was aimed at decongesting the banking hall. He said that the bank was supposed to start the implementation on July 1 but postponed it to enable it to effectively educate customers and allow them to grow their accounts to fit into the policy. “We are supposed to start it today because a memo had already been passed for it only for us to come this morning to get an instruction that it has been postponed.’’ The source added that the idea was as a result of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s order for banks to be stabilised and support the cashless economy policy. The source said many customers had complained about the decision and described it as discouraging. “The management has decided and concluded on it but what they told us for now is that they will continue to finetune it. “They said that the salaries and student accounts will not be affected; that it is accounts of business people, like market women, okada riders and all others that will be used for it now,’’ he said Meanwhile, some customers, who spoke to NAN at UBA’s branch in Area 8, said that the decision to peg the minimum account balance at N25,000 was not good. A market woman, Mrs. Edet Akpa, said, “I really don’t understand what they are saying but it will not be fair for them to do such a thing. “N25,000, is too much when one is in need of money that minimum balance can go a long way to help. At least N5, 000, would have been better since it used to be N1,000 before.” Also, a businessman, Mr. Johnson Edmund, said that for big businessmen, the money will not mean anything. He said, “My fear is that with all these policies coming up and down, people will prefer to keep their money at home and save themselves of the stress. “The Central Bank should think well so that we don’t encourage armed robberies at homes, we have moved away from it for some years now. “This idea now may discourage saving culture that we are trying to build up in this country.” A civil servant, Ms Agnes Udoh, said that banks should not support the policy but try to defend their customers more. She said, “Everyday, Central Bank gives instruction and banks don’t even think about their customers before implementation. I am happy that they said that salary and students accounts are not involved.’’ |
skullbaba:that is the plain truth, some people dont care to find fact relevant to anything, they are just tribal or religious blind. some would not even touch bible written in arabic, yet they blame the almajiris. Imagine people who have PhDs from good universities but are unable to discuss issues without dogma? |
gregg2:I take exception to that, there are Nigerian Engineers, doing well and proudly too, all over the world. I am a Drilling Engineer, graduate of Chemical engineering from a Nigeria University, To God be the Glory. If all those you know are quacks and impostors, you need to change how you socialize. Nigerian Engineers are doing there bit going by what is available to them. Who are the people running NTA, PHCN, Refineries etc with little they have been given. or do you expect them to buy equipment with their own money. Those that have opportunity to work outside the shores of Nigeria have always excelled and provend their worth. |
http://tribune.com.ng/sun/index.php/news/4361-allison-madueke-orubebe-10-others-retain-portfolios-as-nse-carpets-jonathan-over-ministerial-list NSE carpets Jonathan over ministerial list | Print | Written by Leon Usigbe and Gbola Subair, Abuja Sunday, 03 July 2011 The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the umbrella body for all engineering professionals in the country, has expressed worry over the list of ministerial nominees sent to the Senate for confirmation in the ongoing screening exercise as it allegedly did not reflect the desire of Nigerians to have astute professionals in key areas of the economy, especially in infrastructure. The society, in a press statement made available to Sunday Tribune at the weekend, said it was shocked that there was no single engineer in the President’s list. “We, therefore, ask: Who is to man these key engineering-based ministries? Over the years, we have advocated that square pegs be put in square holes in ministries of power, works, water resources, communication, industries, steel, petroleum, etc. Many of these ministries have not had an engineer as a minister since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999,” the NSE said in the statement signed by its president, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ajibola. The society added that it was rather curious that despite the government-avowed intention to improve power supply in the country over the years, the Ministry of Power has not had a power engineer to drive the initiative as minister. This, the NSE said, was a clear demonstration that the government had not got its priorities right as the value of an experienced professional in that position should not be a matter for debate. “The society is dumbfounded that none of the nominees on the list so far, both confirmed and about-to-be-confirmed, is an engineer and wonders which of them would pilot a knowledge-driven policy formulation and implementation in the engineering-based ministries listed earlier. “We believe that we cannot fold our hands and watch the administration drift away from the expectations of professionals and many Nigerians,“ the statement added. The society said as earlier stated in its memo entitled; “The Route to Progress and Prosperity, “ sent to President Jonathan, it was of the view that the success of the President in his role as Executive-in-Chief would hinge on his success in attracting and selecting appropriate talents into both political appointments and employment in public service. “With the President’s garb of the Executive-in-Chief, it behoves him to lay emphasis on an approach that will produce the best end-results. This approach is clearly weighted in favour of technocrats being appointed into the cabinet of Mr. President. “The process of screening so far observed does not indicate the portfolios for which the candidates are being considered. Surely, the field of competence of a candidate should be paramount to the expected performance in the intended office. This is the only fair and transparent way of ensuring that square pegs are put in square holes as mentioned earlier. The outcome of this process, if adopted, would guarantee that each minister may not require an unnecessarily long time in office to deliver. “In making this demand, engineers strongly recommend to Mr. President to depoliticise the selection process and demystify the Senate screening exercise by attaching portfolios to those nominated for ministerial appointments. This process would have helped the senators in the screening exercise as they would have focused their attention on the sector so designated. This has not happened,” the statement added. |
Why the shock , no be the change Nigeria voted for be that? Why wont GEJ continue with people that has worked wonders on Nigeria minds. ![]() |

Going by caption below from wikipedea, the cardinal should advocate a way to colabo with Muslims to form the bank instaed of attacking it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_banking#Christianity Judaism: Loans and interest in Judaism and Jewish views of poverty, wealth and charity The Torah and later sections of the Hebrew Bible criticize interest-taking, but interpretations of the Biblical prohibition vary. One common understanding is that Jews are forbidden to charge interest upon loans made to other Jews, but obliged to charge interest on transactions with non-Jews, or Gentiles. However, the Hebrew Bible itself gives numerous examples where this provision was evaded. Deuteronomy 23:19 Thou shalt not lend upon interest to thy brother: interest of money, interest of victuals, interest of any thing that is lent upon interest. Deuteronomy 23:20 Unto a foreigner thou mayest lend upon interest; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon interest; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou puttest thy hand unto, in the land whither thou goest in to possess it.[9] Israelites were forbidden to charge interest on loans made to other Israelites, but allowed to charge interest on transactions with non-Israelites, as the latter were often amongst the Israelites for the purpose of business anyway, but in general, it was seen as advantageous to avoid getting into debt at all to avoid being bound to someone else. Debt was to be avoided and not used to finance consumption, but only when in need. However, the laws against usury were among the many which the prophets condemn the people for breaking.[11] Christianity Usury Originally, the charging of interest known as Usury was banned by Christian churches meaning the charging of interest at any rate banned. This included charging a fee for the use of money, such as at a bureau de change. However over time the charging of interest became acceptable, the term came to be used for interest above the rate allowed by law. Islam Riba In Islam it is strictly prohibited to take interest; the Quran strictly prohibits lending money on Interest. "O you who have believed, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful" (3:130) "and Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest" (2:275). Riba (usury) is forbidden in Islamic economic jurisprudence fiqh. There are two types of riba discussed by Islamic jurists: an increase in capital without any services provided, which is prohibited by the Qur'an, and that prohibited in the Sunnah which comprises commodity exchanges in unequal quantities.

If only Aganga has grown ball as big as Sanisi's during the accusation of NASS spending 25% Nigerian budget they would have been checkmated.
NASS prepare and approve their own budget, they alter any ministry's budget any how they fill, Sanusi or no Sanusi. Once bill is passed, it is law and should be enforced, infact deliberate negligence to implementing the passed law maybe considered an impeachable offence. Only by electing people of moral standing and good constitution can safe Nigeria from bad politicians. |

Topic: Breweries sell other products that are consumed by everybody including Muslims such as malts and bottles water, also alcohol is allowed to be sold in certain areas in those so called sharia states, all hotels are allowed to sell alcohol. There are non Muslims in those states too buying alcohols, so those states are eligible to taxes paid by breweries. However, vat and taxes should be allocated based on contribution to the government purse. We should stop fanning embers of disunity among us. |
