Politics › Re: Population Outgrows Economy Amid Rising Dependants, Misery by RepoMan007: 10:30am On Dec 14, 2023
MASTAkiLLAh:
I don't think Nigeria has an overpopulation problem, I witnessed the last census and saw where palm kernel was used to create finger prints on the census forms in a particular state, those who travel regularly also know there are vast swathes of empty lands especially in the interior areas and semi empty communities mostly due to rural - urban migration. What we have is a country suffering from the effects of severe governmental kleptomania since at least 1960 which affected every single sector of the polity from local government to the federal level. The has been a deliberate implementation of non development across the country despite the hundreds of billions of dollars pumped into the economy in the name of infrastructure and intervention programmes which are promptly stolen by those in authority unfortunately, we've reached a situation whereby governments can't fund big infrastructure anymore because there's simply no money anywhere and no one wants to lend us any more money. Your country's COP28 junketeering was duly noted so the next question is how to raise cash to finance our budgets going forward, it's as simple as president Tinubu actually going after corrupt individuals and or their family members/proxies from previous administrations at least from 1983 then use whatever tens of trillions recovered should be used judiciously while trying to stabilize the country. This isn't the time for sentiments or loyalty because Nigerians are very hungry right now and where just at the edge of violent crimes becoming a norm eg, kidnapping has started in Lagos and it's on the rise which didn't used to happen before cool
The reason why large families produce lots of early hustlers and manual labourers is the honesty of the men in those houses, who, being aware they can not work hard enough to train the children to adulthood, quickly embrace the reality ahead and allow them work.
In Nigeria, we act as if the lean resources we have can sustain a luxurious lifestyle for all. We loot, waste, and destroy. Hardwork and productive lifestyle is now a sign of slow-mindedness. Fast money is the main thing. We now print money and share. Bandits can tax producers of goods all they want the civil workers can never run out of printed money so they ignore the main tasks and play office politics.

Politics › Re: NNPCL Not Transparent On Subsidy, Dollar Revenues – World Bank by RepoMan007: 8:23am On Dec 14, 2023
Simple data analysis of headlines already gave me the hint 3 months back.
First month, you saved N1Tr, second third fourth and fifth month, you are still saying accumulated savings is N1.5Tr instead of around N5Tr.

“In August, additional revenue from 40 per cent profit of Production Sharing Contracts and the interim yearly dividend were reflected in the accounts. However, these were not as high as what the gains from removing the gasoline subsidy should have been. Given that petrol pump prices have not changed in line with market fundamentals (notably exchange rate movements and global oil prices), there is a risk that the implicit fuel subsidy has reemerged, potentially keeping net oil revenues lower than expected.”

Please let's rub minds, which is more economical, with this harsh economy and weather conditions, one cannot do without bathing with boiling point water, And cost of everything has skyrocketed, a bag of charcoal is above 5k, 1kg of gas is above a thousand naira and kerosene is also nothing to write home about, so please, I'd like to know how you cope with your families this season, which do you use and why?

1. A charcoal 2. Gas 3. Kerosene 4. All or none ?
Thanks for your input.
When bathing, start from the lower parts with as little water as possible. Ask from rugged boarding school system studens who bath out in the open they will confirm it for you.

Room temp water is not so hard to adapt to.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Owing Money Is Not A Crime In Nigeria. by RepoMan007: 2:51pm On Dec 13, 2023
The greedy lenders choke us with interest rates then run to the law/judiciary when repayment/recovery goes south. If interest is between 10 and 20 percent, it is understandable. At 40-60% it is harder to invest that money profitably or repay from salary.

You didn't read it properly.

What he sai is lets says you have $10k cash, you pay that into your account and get an instrument of $10k. This way, you do not need to worry that inflation will erode the value of the 10k since it's an dollar instrument not naira. Anytime you want your $10k, you will get it back.

I think it's anbrillant order as most people fear is inflation eroding the value of the dollars.
The equivalent of that already exists.

Bound to fail and the reason for that is simple to comprehend.

The private earners have virtual dollar/forex accounts they keep their forex. The private buyers of forex within Nigeria too have similar accounts. At exchange stage, they communicate through channels CBN don't have control over. Channels like Whatsapp, Telegram and co.

This approach is dead on arrival.

Travel › Re: Why Women Leave Their Husbands Abroad After They Both Japa by RepoMan007:
sukkot:
So guys we need to understand that women are drawn to protectors and alpha and strong men. It is how they are wired. Something happens to a Nigerian man when he gets abroad and the women notice it. The man gets emasculated by society. He goes from being a strong figure of authority in Africa to an unwanted disrespected black man in the west. Even a 17 year old white boy on the job can almost slap that 40 year old naija man on the job and he will be shaking and calling the 17 year old boy, Sir. The man is emasculated by society. Goes from being an alpha dog in naija to a puppy in the west. Our women sense these things and to a woman if you are not an alpha dog you are just useless. You start emptying the trash and making breakfast and washing dishes now as the man. Jobs that you used to hire maids to do for you in naija. Not only can a 17 year old white boy disrespect you on the job but you are now a dishwasher at home. You have no value in society. Anywhere you turn up you are not celebrated but tolerated. After a while the woman starts to see that this guy is truly worthless to me, why do I need to coexist with this emasculated societal reject ? I am better off by myself and I can get a better job than him here as a nurse. He has become a burden to me. This is why most women chase their husbands away from home after they both relocate abroad
the rejection is both male and female.

Commonsensical thing they should have done since a decade ago and even encouraged Japa-syndrome to swell the volume of the private dollar/forex, thereby strengthening the naira.
What India and China earn separately from remittances alone is far far more than the oil money everyone here wants to share directly.
The.mumu party or should I say govt is just realizing this is a viable way out of the naira value mess.
