obedience4:Like you rightly said, it is the other components of the strike group that makes it an elite fighting force. But the impression that a "carrier" is a big defenseless ship is not entirely correct. These are not carriers used in World War 1. Aircraft Carriers have their own defenses too like anti-air self-defense system so it is not entirely a sitting duck. 1 Like 1 Share |

ehikwe22:Well, we may go back and forth on the above. Perhaps you have access to some information I am not privy to. However, from available evidence as regards what you just said, Israel always give advance warning for civilian evacuation before those targets are brought down inside Gaza. It is alleged that Hamas is using them as command centres or launch attacks against Israel from those locations. Whether Israel is telling lies in saying Hamas is using those locations for military operations, we certainly cannot tell from here since we are far away from the theatre. But trust me, Hamas has never denied using civilians or civilian infrastructure as body shield whenever there are confrontations like this. I am not trying to support any party here because I understand that there are no angels in a war theater. But on this particular attack, Hamas is wrong on many fronts and innocent people will pay dearly |

Babangidapikin:Hamas is fully funded by Iran. It is not hidden. Iranians own up to it. But if cause, they receive support from other sources too especially with their ability to carry out an attack of this magnitude. In the coming days, we may or may not fully understand how Israeli intelligence failed as they are renowned for their advancement in detecting threats. My individual interest is in learning why and how Israeli was a bit lackadaisical in responding to the attack. Israeli response was not swift like previously. Hamas operated almost unchallenged for hours before there was counter response against the militants that were already on Israeli soil. 1 Like |

hkidola00:Carrying out a military operation where civilians become casualties as collateral damage is a different ball game. Israeli forces may have shot civilians during protest/confrontations with Palestinians but it doesn't fall within the context of what Hamas just did. This is not the first time Hamas is killing Israeli civilians but this one is different because it was unprovoked at least not immediately and Hamas basically just launched this operation to kill civilians. How do you define when a gunman just go into the streets and start shooting anybody on sight, dragging people out from their homes and shooting them at point blank. What about the Israeli holiday dance festival that they attacked and shot over 200 civilians dead. Out of the reported casualties from the Israeli side, dead soldiers are less than 50 with civilians making up the other number. How about the massive kidnappings. Like I said, what you are accusing Israel of does not fall within the context of what Hamas has done. There is hardly any military in the world that has not killed civilians in small pockets whether deliberately or inadvertently during confrontations but basically targeting civilians in a military operation is a different dimension and can only be described as a terrorist attack. |

While Israel is notorious for their heavy hand on Palestinians, Hamas just destroyed the little sympathy they enjoyed from some state and non-state actors with this barbaric attack especially on civilians. How can you go into the streets and start shooting anybody on sight, forcing people out from their homes and shoot them at point blank, and burning down civilian buildings with people inside. While this attack may have succeeded in terms of its core objectives of destabilizing relations between Israeli and some gulf states, and showing the Israeli government that they are not invincible. Hamas equally has dug a new grave that so many of its people would be buried inside. This show of force by the US no doubt is to send a message to Iran and other terrorists from Yemen 119 Likes 19 Shares |

shinacology:Not sure with the context of your above question, but Iran has never hidden their sponsor of terrorist organizations unlike other countries of the west that do so covertly. Then the second part of your submission, I don't understand what you mean. We are not discussing USA, weapons of mass destruction or Iraq. I only threw more light on the issue of the UN Resolution for a two state solution that Palestinians and the Arab League foolishly rejected in 1948 that has now backfired |
Foreign Affairs / Re: The Human Cost Of The Israeli-palestinian Conflict (deaths/injuries): Documented by ReubenE(m): 4:13pm On Oct 08, 2023 |
Akwamkpuruamu:It is the Arab League, most especially countries like Egypt that deceived them then. Egyptian generals even boasted that defeating Israel would be like walking from Cairo to Tel Aviv. They declared war afterwards, and they lost. It was what gave Israel the grounds to cease more territories like Golan Heights and the West Bank from Syria and Jordan especially after the war in 1967. Now that they are seeking for two state solution, Israel and her partners are no longer interested because it would be like formally recognizing and giving state support and backing to a terrorist organization in their description, believing that Hamas will use the new state as a launch pad for terrorist activities just like Iran. 1 Like |

The current round of violence is totally uncalled for especially the unbridled attacks on civilians. How do you go about shooting civilians in the streets on broad day light. Hamas got this one wrong. Israel needs to be careful in their response as it can snowball into something catastrophic 1 Like |

BoldBrainz:Most of them will sit down and watch, except for the usuals that we know like Iran and Hezbollah, that I can assure you. There is growing evidence that Hamas carried out this barbarity because of the gradual normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Ariabia. Qatar, Oman, UAE etc were already normalizing relations with Israel. No Arab nation is going to stand behind Hamas now, at least not overtly when Hamas just finished shooting hundreds of civilians in the streets on broad day light. No matter the corresponding action from Israel now, no Arab state is going to invade Israel not even Iran, Israel's most notorious foe in the Middle East. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
Politics / Re: Depots Deserted As Petrol Landing Cost Hits ₦‎720/Litre by ReubenE(m): 12:27am On Oct 07, 2023 |
MatrixCircle:@bold Exactly the thought I was waiting for. All the blames, suggestions, theories etc all still boil down to government corruption and incompetence. Nothing is going to work when a government is corrupt beyond repair. Even the Dangote refinery has not worked yet largely due to corruption and incompetence especially from the government side. They majorly used that refinery project to steal forex. It is the reason the refinery has been delayed for several years. During colonialism, the prime reason for building any infrastructure was how the project was going to aid the easy movement of resources abroad. The primary intention was never development. The same playbook is what our leaders are reading from. They first consider how much they can steal before anything is done. Their real intent is never seeing the people develop, it is how they can develop themselves from doing things for the people. Just like some classical realists believe "peace brings poverty, and that war brings wealth" the chaotic situation is what makes them rich and powerful. In war, once you conquer your enemies, their wealth becomes yours. None of the theories suggested above, some very good ones are going to work optimally. It is when the Nigeria state is ready to free itself from corruption which is impossible, but at least reduce it to a reasonable extent, it is such time that we shall see real progress. 1 Like 2 Shares |

fk002:It is shocking that some of you are falling for the bunkum Reno is saying. Well, I guess it is because it falls within the purview of your premeditated narratives. Those are English words, the Bible was not written in English so how do you expect them to be in the Bible? Reno that bears the title of a "pastor" is pastor in the Bible? Because I call God "Tamarau" in my tongue, and it is not found in the Bible does not mean I am lying or I am fake. Is "Lent" the same thing as Lent in Hebrew, German, Yoruba, Igbo, Spanish? Lent is just an English word to describe the period before Easter. It is actually foolish for Reno and whoever that is listening to him to ask a section of people to prove the whereabouts of "Christianity" in the Bible or where "Bible" is written in the Bible. Christian/Christianity is coined from the word "Christ" with Christian meaning "Christ-like" There are better ways of asking to prove if Christianity is genuine or not rather than rely on certain words coined from a particular language. |

That young man's death, though unfortunate like every other young person cut down in their prime is now a source of national worry in the face of all the many socio economic problems bedeviling the country. Even leaders that are suppose to look for solutions to the many problems they created are now preoccupied with it. The idea behind the "whereabout failure" is that she might have had something in her system so decided to avoid testing...using the period to clear up. It is the reason athletes are given three opportunities to do the needful. At the third, if they still fail to get tested then it is believed to be wilful absence to avoid getting caught. Athletes hardly come out unscathed with this "whereabout failure" issue because missing three consecutive dope tests is huge. ORIENTATION101:The NNPCL makes subsidy payments from their cash flow, that is, they pay and net off from their fiscal obligations of taxes and royalties they pay to the Federal Government. The balance is the over N2 trillion NNPCL is claiming the government of Nigeria is owing them after all deductions. So is the NNPCL paying the subsidy for itself or they are paying for Nigerians on behalf of the FG. If the NNPCL is making those deductions from the taxes and royalties they pay to the Nigerian State, is it not the FG that is paying same subsidy through another means.
