PoliticsRe: Buhari: I Have Been Fair To Igbo Despite Low Votes by ReubenE(m): 10:31pm On Jan 09, 2019
ImperialYoruba:
Listen to his reasoning....how more democratic do you want him to go?

Democracy is not about constitution....its about numbers.

Buhari can get 198,000 votes just in Ereko ward in Lagos. That's less than the local govt sef.

Ibo has no shame. 198,000 in the entire SE?

You deserved your neglect under Buhari. You earned it with that figure.
@bold.
My brother, you got this assertion wrong. It is election in a democratic setting that is about numbers, and not Democracy so to speak.

Election (numbers) is just to decide who wields political power according to democratic tenets, where a group of people have agreed to live together according to set rules.

The hallmark of democracy is equal participation, and the absence of discrimination.
Democracy is nothing without a constitution because the Constitution is the embodiment of the laws on which democracy is built upon.

If it is not parochial interest or vindictiveness, no democratic government is suppose to discriminate against her people, let alone showing it in words and in actions.

If you would allow me to digress a little, I want to use my below statement to expound on what I'm trying to say above.
I'm sure you must have come across the popular saying where Nigerian politicians in particular, equate construction of roads, building of hospitals, or in sum total, provision of infrastructure as Dividends of Democracy. This statement is proven to be false.....

Using Nigerian Government and Politics as an example, you would see that the Military Governments developed more infrastructure than their civilian counterparts. Almost all the. Hospitals, bridges including the longest in West Africa (3rd Mainland Bridge), Universities, power stations were all provided by the successive military governments in Nigeria.

Now the big question is, do we now say because the military did the above listed, they are dividends of military rule?

This is exactly how the Democratic system works. Election (numbers) is just an aspect of democracy.
The true dividends of democracy are:

Liberty
Freedom of choice, including liberty to decide who gets what.....
Equal opportunity and participation for all
Respect for human rights.
Rule of law and constitutionalism etc

Others are;

Free and fair election etc.

My brother, even in monarchy, military rule, numbers are often used to decide who becomes the head. So democracy cannot be relegated to just numbers.

President Buhari got this one wrong. Once a man is elected to the position of a president, the whole country becomes his constituency.

election is February...and campaign has started.we all know the budget will be approved probably middle of 2019, as senators do,which is after election..how is the 1billion dollars now a campaign fund?

can we see that many Nigerian youths on nairaland are dumbos, they just comment without thinking
The $3.5 billion spent in 2018, was approval given by NASS?
Perhaps you must have forgotten, Buhari's government spent the money, and wrote a letter to NASS later giving reasons that he spent the money due to anticipatory approval from them.

The same government can spend the $1.05billion in question even though it has not been given approval in the 2019 budget.

Brother, it is not good to speak evil due to individual persuasions. Believe me, you deserve to be insulted due to your ill thought comment, you even went as far as tagging others dumbos.
Just look at the mirror; your comment, and juxtapose with Buhari's antecedents, you will see who is the dumbo

They are different. At inception, Ballon D'or was given by a French magazine for the best player in Europe.

The Fifa player of the year award is superior to that of Balon D'or

greatiyk4u:
This vote buying strategy is a clear sign that vote counts these days, no more outright rigging as it was during PDP era

Before now we battled with snatching of ballot boxes, secret counting of votes and open use of thugs to intimidate voters

During PDP era, the politicians determine the winners directing by open rigging,

Today, the masses determine the winners by voting either their choice candidate or the candidates they are paid to choose, in all it is now the masses decisions that determine the winner

This shows that with proper voters education we shall soon overcome irregularities in voting in Nigeria

Corruption does not really have to involve monetary gain.(just any abuse of office whether public or private for a private gain)..

There is no established law that says the SP or Speaker must come from Majority Party in Parliament, the practice is just a Convention.

I can categorically confirm that Catholicism is not Christianity.
And that the Lord is not happy with the Catholic church.
For their idolatery,
For kneeling to graven images
For their doctrine of Trinity,
For confessing to man,
For not reading the bible,
For giving Mary more honour than Jesus.
And lastly, for leading many astray.

That is probably why he has turned his face from them and let the herdsmen slaughter their priests.

Because Psalms 91 is explicit about how God preserves his own.
Your comment is smacking with brazen stupidity and inhumanity.
For one to imagine that you are a human being is an insult to common sense.

The numerous pastors, Men of God in whatever place you worship or whatever religion you practice, that suffer the same fate, is it because they are not God's own.
The pentecostal churches and Mosques bomb on daily basis by Boko Haram... Is it because God turned a blind eye reason being that they are not his own?

I am very sure heaven and hell will reject you because you are not qualified to be part of any of them.
Very despicable line of thought

I disagree with Falana on this, Senate cn summon the president not to talk of ordinary IGP .

The Senate arm is for checks and balances, the IGP is an appointee who is answerable to the people and can be summoned by the people thru the senate.

Mr Falana, i disagree with u on this.
Don't mind Falana my brother. The man is known to be neither here nor there in his quest to remain relevant.

Rather than address the issue of IGP, he was busy drawing the office of the President or Governor into the mix.
Falana should tell us where in the constitution it is stated that the National Assembly cannot summon the IGP who is an appointed government official.

PoliticsRe: Buhari’s Impeachment: Mission Impossible, By Reuben Abati by ReubenE(m): 10:12pm On May 01, 2018
DragonKnight:
I don't agree with the attempts being made to impeach PMB because of his lack of consultation with National Assembly in the procurement of the 12 Embraer Super Tucano airplanes. Why? Because I believe that his motives were clearly to equip our Military in the fight against insurgency and it has been far too long since Nigeria has been attempting to close this deal and procure those aircrafts. Also the US authorities having confirmed receiving the money, means that this time the purchase was not marred by corruption and embezzlement, as was the case in some past attempts to procure ammunitions and equipments for the Military. I believe the National Assembly is required by law to caution him for leaving them out of the loop, but calls to impeach him for this act is to me totally uncalled for.
This your opinion is the very reason why we have different morality for different people, and different laws for different people in Nigeria.

When a law is violated, the consequence is expected to follow no matter the circumstances surrounding the violation.
What would you make of a man that is genuinely hungry, and was caught stealing from your house? Will you let him go because he was hungry?

My brother, laws are made to ensure social order by directing each and everyone of us on which course of action to take at a particular time.
Great nations are what they are because they respect their laws and they fight to keep them at all times.

Law and morality are not the same, same way there is a difference between doing what you think is right and doing what you're expected to do.....

....and the last paragraph where you opined that the National Assembly is required by law to caution him for keeping them in the dark is not factual.
The only requirement by law for what he did as prescribed by the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) is to initiate impeachment proceedings for gross misconduct.

It is either the National Assembly acts or the members take the part of selective amnesia

KenOne:
Where was Livingstone Wichie of integrity group sued by Amaechi for libel and defamation of character and where was Patience Jonathan sued FG libel and harassment since it's a civil matter and Federal high court lacks jurisdiction as you stated. Uche Secondus went to Rivers high court controlled by Wike and PDP to seek cheap judgement let's see if any judgement from there will amount to any thing. You want to sue federal government to a state court, it's tussle for leadership not a civil matter why didn't PDP go to Rivers high court then but rather approached Federal high court Port Harcourt. Though I am not a lawyer but I don't need a legal knowledge to know that Secondus went to the wrong court just to seek cheap judgement and redeem his battered image. State high court admits defamation no doubt but Secondus ought to have approached FHC since he's sueing Minister of the federal government. I can as well sue someone that resides in PH in Biu Borno state where I know a judge for a civil matter since the court in Biu Borno has jurisdiction also. Let Secondus approach an Abuja FHC or FHC PH then we can take him serious, FG might not respond to Rivers high court.
@bold, please don't indict yourself.
At one end, you posit that Secondus is approaching the wrong court, at another, you agree that the State High Court has jurisdiction over the charge.
Your doubt Whether Lai Mohammed or the Federal Government through the Attorney General respect the summon does not obliterate the jurisdiction of the court to hear a case like this one, rather their refusal will only add to their disrespect and disregard for the rule of law.

Lastly, your competence level of legal matters denies you the authority to argue on a case like this...
PoliticsRe: Electoral Amendment: Saraki, Dogara Lock Horns Over Plot To Override Buhari.. by ReubenE(m): 11:23am On Mar 17, 2018
agabusta:
Long but interesting report.

Time seems to be on the part of the president as the 2019 elections is just in less than 1 year.

People are just getting unnecessary emotional about this election sequence while ignoring the other valid points raised by the president in withholding his assent.

They need to go back and take another look at those bills. If they want INEC to conduct local government elections, it has to be via a constitutional amendment.

The president equally queried why 2 grounds for challenging the outcome of an election at an Election Tribunal was removed.

A lot of both readers and the media has not deemed it fit to reveal which justifications for challenging election results were removed to be able to establish if it will be in the overall benefit of the country or the NASS was just being selfish. This is even more important than the election sequence everybody is singing about.

It is quite ironical that it is the president they call illiterate that has been regularly communicating with the NASS on bills he is withholding assent while giving justifications.

I never heard of GEJ/Yaradua communicating with the house in this regard. For Obasanjo only few occasions.

GEJ simply collated their bills in one corner of Aso Rock and was enjoying his fisherman soup and kain kain. At a time, there was a report of almost 200 bills awaiting Presidential assent/assent decline. It was only the constitutional amendment he vetoed at the tail end of his administration. That was a credit to him I must say, as the amendments sought to water down some powers of the president, and he definitely cannot be there for ever.

They should go and work on the amendments with more zeal and give critical attention to the points raised by the president, otherwise the Supreme Court will just throw the Act to the dustbin based on its contradictory stance with the constitution.

There is even a subsisting Supreme Court judgment in this regard during the Obasanjo time.
You write very well but sound very dull.
Is it not possible for you to make sense without making reference to the previous government?

Those that got invite for Communication Executive should attend the interview and make the decision for themselves whether to join them or not.

Most of what they do is field work.
For Communication Executive and Brand Activation, lemme say the following.....

The two roles are marketing positions. There is a basic salary of N50,000. Beside the 50K, commission is paid if group targets are met.
This is how the group target thing works:
Members will be grouped with a membership of eight persons, and the group target is to bring Thirty Distributors in a month. Members are assessed based on how well the group performs, and not individually.

In practical terms, if the group target of 30 distributors is divided by the number of group members, what each member is required to bring is 4 distributors in a month, however a member bringing his 4 distributors doesn't count if the group fails to collectively bring the target of 30 distributors in a month.

Secondly, before a customer can qualify to become a distributor, he or she must be willing and ready to buy goods worth N120,000 at minimum. In other words, if I'm only willing to buy N100,000 worth of goods, then I can't become a distributor.

Some of the products they have on offer includes;
Slim Tea
Tamtadu
HairNowNow
.....and a host of other beauty products.

I spent some time with them before I left. Less than a month though....

I hope the above helps
