Wow. So is it legal? And lets not also forget that any money found on you at that time na sara...Plus as you are entering the cell, the presido will already be informing you to hold your inmate levy or tax that is even though they can all clearly see that you have been stripped....its a jungle out there. Prisoners really have no rights in Naija
Politics / Why Do The Police Strip You Before Placing You In A Cell? by Revealedtv(m): 8:06pm On Aug 31, 2013
My dear people, I was passing in front of the Festac police station today and i noticed a "detainee" pleading his case (it seemed) with some policemen in front of the station. Well the thing that struck my attention was that he was in boxers. And then the question was posed "Why do the Nigerian Police strip you down to your pants before they put you in cell?" why dont they, for all intent and purposes, search you and then place you in the cell? The phenomenon is the same for all sorts of crime: whether you are a suspect, innocent or guilt. A night in the cell often means you are going to be stripped. A friend of mine suggested that it was because policemen are simply inhumane people who just want to see you suffer knowing that mosquito will feast on you better with clothes off. Is this the way it is done in other parts of the world? What do you think?

Those are your own interpretations of the first to comment syndrome which will be easily discredited if the fellow says he has a job. Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong in expressing joy or suprise on being the first to comment on a post. The Mods may claim to hate it but a lot of people vy for that status & it helps Nairaland in terms of popularity...Believe it or not. It is like beating Takashi's castle, there are no prizes or gifts for the winner, just status...

Politics / Mentally Unstable Woman And Sane Son. What To Do? Please Help!!! by Revealedtv(m): 3:05pm On Aug 06, 2013
I am writing this piece as a concerned citizen of Lagos state and of humanity. There is this mentally unstable woman that stays around my area, 5th Avenue Junction in Festac to be precise. The woman arrives at her “spot” early morning each day and brings with her, a young boy whom I presume to be her son. She sweeps the long alley leading to the bus-stop and after she is satisfied that he alley is clean, she sits there all day with the boy. She doesn’t even really beg for alms, passer-bys see her and are moved by her condition and then they hand out pittance. However my concern is her young son. As a perfectly sane young adolescent [at least from observation], shouldn’t he be in school? I have been having a little bit of guilty conscience writing this because, what I am asking for is for the government to come and take the child away from her. Yet from observation, you can tell that she is really attached to the boy, like he is all she has left. I don’t know what will happen if she loses him. Sentiments aside, I think that the boy should be placed in foster care and the mother in a “special-care” ward. Social workers in the house, what do you think? It disturbs me to see them in this condition daily

Politics / The State Of The Roads In Festac Town (pictures) by Revealedtv(m): 10:46am On Jun 23, 2013
Without a third term to look forward to, The Local government executive chairman of Festac Town, Comrade Ayodele Adebowale Adewale, csn quietly fold his arms while the state of the roads in Festac goes from bad to worse. The roads claimed its first "casualty" yesterday the 22th of June when a trailer while attempting to navigate the bad sections of the festac bridge fell and practically blocked the exit route out of town, leaving commuters stranded for hours. It was always been the position of our government to act in a reactionary manner, that is wait for tragedy to happen before the act. The same is true of our aircraft sitation---wait till a crash happens.

However, as others were going to church to pray for changes, i took my time to go round some popular bad spots in Festac to take pictures of the state of the roads. There are a lot more places i couldnt visit but anyone who comes by Festac or is resident in Festac knows that practically all the roads in Festac are bad. Worse is the fact that the LG is never tired of cosmetic reconstruction, that is fill the holes with sand or cement and then wait for the rain to wash it out. It is a very very sad state that we are in.

The highlighted reason is more like it cos I have witnessed two instances like this that are not palatable.
My cousin was killed on December 28th 2010 when he attended a party with his friend. He was to travel to the US the next day being 29th. That same day we recieved a phonecall that they were involved in an autocrash and that my cousin was the only one dead in the incident.? The whole incident was investigated only to found out the he was killed by two of his friends out of jealousy. There was no scratch on his corpse when recovered except minor bruises on his neck.
The world is wicked angry

So sorry to hear that. There are just too many stories around of that sort. BTW the moderator of this section should help me with front page na!! embarassed

I was taking advantage of now banned rule number 17 to make fun of other religions...It was supposed to be political satire but AFAM wasnt laughing grin... but at least seun got the point and struck the rule out shortly after.

Between, I don't understand why people who are down will just want to pull other people down. Like crabs in a bucket. Traveling abroad, experiencing new cultures should be fun and a thing of joy but instead during your visa process, you are left to keep it a secret like you witnessed an alien landing...Oh well, thats the country we live in.

Travel / Why People Keep Their Travel Abroad A Secret by Revealedtv(m): 10:36am On May 10, 2013
***Still languishing in Nairaland's jail after being banned in the politics section by AFAM. Bail not set.

Anyways, this is a question I have always asked myself: Why do Nigerians, especially first timers, keep details of future travels secret until the very last moment? After numerous tries at the American embassy and listening to the stories of other people, i have come up with a few answers:

1) The Winchy, Bad Belle and Awon Aiye reason: I know the moderators might frown at this but I did it anyways. Nigerians are usually hesitant to tell others of their plans to travel because of the possibility that others may start wishing them bad and may even go the length to fast or pray against their progress. Traveling or the plan to go abroad in Nigeria is such a big deal that we (Nigerians) fast, pray and may even submit to a pastor's wishes. Only for the pastor, to say "Dont tell anyone until the appointed time". You can have a friend and would have known him/her for years and one day he tells you.."I will be traveling tomorrow oo, I just thought i should let you know". leaving you like

2) The Drug Mule: This may not be unconnected to the first reason stated above. The truth is that it is when some evil people (friends included) hear that you are about to travel that they set their drug plan in motion. The pressure itself can become overwhelming and may include threats. You have to watch an episode of "banged up abroad" to get an idea of the kind of pressure drug thugs can assert. However there is usually an atom of greed from the mule that enables him to want to transport their goods. But to avoid that situation totally, people would rather keep their travel a secret.

3) Baggage Overload: Once again, when the word goes round that you are about to leave the country, you start getting usual requests pleading for you to help transport one good or the other. You may have planned to carry one box on your travel abroad and next thing your aunt, friend or brother is calling, begging you to help carry dry fish, wheat, okro and the like. They make you see reason into it like "Those things are expensive here". God help you don't carry it...It means you cant visit and eat in their house or complain about what they give you to eat..."why there is no salt in your soup? Maybe if you had brought the bag of salt like i asked, you would not be complaining now". People do not usually consider the fact that you may have to pay a lot more for the overload.

4) The personal belongings tax officers: This one usually pertains to friends. It doesnt matter if you are only going away for a month, once your friends hear that you are about to leave, the next thing all your property immediately becomes their own. They will start to book your clothes, shoes, everything ahead of time. In their mind, anybody who travels abroad, especially to America, shouldnt be planning on coming back or will replace the things they took since in America, Channel, Louis Voiton and the rest stand at the airport and dash immigrants clothes angry. It is not just inanimate objects they take, your girlfriends, side chics, concubines are all fair game...

5) Shame of rejection: This one applies to applicants to the American embassy. After bragging to all your friends about how you will be leaving the country soon and how life is going to become better afterwards, you go to the American embassy and receive the dulling (rejection) of your life grin . Then you come home and have to explain to everyone that, some documents werent complete, this and that and you will appeal the decision. Then once again you are faced with your interviewer at the American embassy, armed with the complete document. In your mind, nothing can go wrong... The interviewers looks through your papers, goes to the back to consult with her colleagues while you are sweating in the booth. Next thing she comes out with a smile and says "Sorry..." .I have been there, done that and i can tell you that it is not a pleasant experience. Well lets continue, days pass, weeks pass and then it turns to months and your friends will be like "You nor dey travel again...". Some people sell their belongings, drop out of school for this same American issue only to be rejected at the end.

There is more i could have listed but i would love people to share their own experiences

If you die as an artist in Nigeria, your songs get free promo on air...i.e goldie, da grin, Aluu 4 and now Damoche...The relatively unknown artist has made front page on Nairaland grin ... What amazes me in all cult related killings is that no one ever seems to get it on tape. i thought with our recently acquire digital revolution (bb) more crimes would get taped to help the police in their investigation... That said, it is not very easy to get off or say no to a cult once they have their eye on recruiting you...you really just cant say no. You either run away or get a higher member of the cult to beg for you.
Politics / The Shocking Story Of Houdegbe Ritualists. Caught With Possession Of A Python by Revealedtv(m): 12:52am On Feb 21, 2013
culled from www.pressoncampus.com

Two students, Yomi and Favour, 100 Business Administration freshmen in Houdegbe University are on the run. They were earlier today apprehended with a box containing a snake, pictures of fellow students (mostly girls), blood stained cloths amongst other horrid possessions.
Their problems started earlier in the day when a co-tenant in the property where they resided heard weird sounds coming from behind her window. Upon enquiry, she discovered the duo lurking behind her room with a black box in their possession. Having gained knowledge of her presence, the suspects told her they were heading out of town and decided to come say good bye before they left. That would have been all well and fine except this was in the wee hours of the morning and she’d quickly realized that she’d seen them on more than one occasion, lurking behind her room (Apparently, that was their hideout spot for their dreadful possession). The frightened tenant called the attention of the landlady of the property who also apparently lives in the same compound to inform her of her findings.
After a thorough interrogation conducted by the landlady in conjunction with co-tenants of the compound, they contents of their box was revealed to the shock and bewilderment of all present. The mob proceeded to contain the boys who they now suspected to be ritualists and sent for the police or Gendarmerie (as they are known in Cotonou). Before the Gendarmerie made it to the location, the boys had made their escape, leaving a very surprised and stunned crowd who had by now gathered by their hundreds.
The Gendarmerie are now on the lookout for the boys, whom by all accounts, would have probably made it across the border to Nigeria. The mystery for the investigators now is try to uncover what they intended to do with the snake and even more puzzling, what they intended to do with the pictures of their fellow students.

Politics / Okada Riders Leave Festac Town Enmass To North? by Revealedtv(m): 9:28pm On Nov 11, 2012
I was passing through 7th Avenue in Festac town and witnessed 2 trucks picking up Okadas and their owners. One truck was packing the Okadas, wrapping them and writing the names of the respective owners on them. [While] The other was packing the Okada owner.

In the past 2 days or so, the police has been moving around Festac Town, harassing, intimidating and seizing Okadas. I would have love to take a picture of the above mentioned scenario but I refrained out of fear that they may exact their frustrations on me
