You clearly have comprehension issues.

Oza people speak an Edoid language called Ozara. Oza is an Edoid language, because the people are Edo in origin, Ika is Igboid because the people were Igbo speaking from the very beginning.

Oza people are not originally Ika, they. migrated from Edo to Agbor and were welcomed into Agbor by an Obi of Agbor in the ancient time.

The above history is a known fact.

If you don't know of the Ada staff given to Ika kings in the past by the Oba of Bini then you are not probably in position to debate on these issues.
Refrain from strong language
Once again the language oza and not ozara.. Some people refer to it as owuwu which is not wrong either.

You have any historical sources backing your claim that they came from benin and the obi of agbor welcomed them? And also proof that they were given Ada? And the Oba gave them Ada? You don't just cook up funny stories and post online

You keep saying that Urhobo and Isoko are Edoid and are distinct. Therefore it is safe to say that since they are both Edoid and are linguistically and culturally the same, then their progenitor must have had the same common cultural and linguistic markers? If so, then why do;
1. Isokos and Urhobos call God "Oghene" and Edos dont?
2. Isokos and Urhobos eat "Ukhodo" as native meals and Edos dont?
3. Isokos and Urhobos share names of people, animals, things and places that Edos do not?
4. Isokos and Urhobos share titles of Kings, monarchical lexical items and royal cosmology that Edos dont?
5. Isokos and Urhobos have the same fashion style that Edos dont?

There are more but I have made my point! Urhobos and Isokos are Edoid no doubt! However, they could never have existed as distinct peoples when their Edo progenitor, which ought to be the protoid culture and language, lacks what they both share together. It implies that either Isokos were originally Urhobos who migrated at different times or that Isokos were a different people, most likely Igbos, who learnt Urhobo due to contact and created a unique version of it. In both versions, whether truistically or not, Urhobo remains the protoid culture and language! I am not Urhobo because I speak Urhobo! I am Urhobo because I speak AGBON which is a member of the Urhobo linguistic and cultural cluster. That has and will always remain my argument and premise.
As of this moment, I cant fathom the bearing of your argument because you seem to be strictly on the defensive without any directional premise upon which your argument is anchored and do not tell me your argument is that Isokos are different from Urhobos because that ship has already sailed ages ago when Isoko started speaking, dressing, eating, dancing, and living like Urhobos!

Find your intellectual compass and point it NORTH!
Okay lemme come in

1. The binis also refer to God as oghene, though it is rarely used these days except during certain rituals. Around the migration period, oghene was the term for God. We even had an Oba named ore-oghene and ore-oghene quarters is still in benin today, around TV road.

2. Binis eat ukodo too.. Though not a staple food. Those of us who grew up around grandparents are very familiar with benin traditional cuisine of which ukodo is an integral part for the old ladies club

3. Edo and urhobo and isoko share names of objects. We can start an edo-urhobo-isoko comparison thread if you wish

4. All benin offshoots and some vassal states had OGIEs as their rulers. These OGIES were of three categories, the ENOGIE, inherited, which was roughly a duke, reserved for the Oba's brothers in order to keep them busy, then there were the ENIGIE who were just distinguished commoners that rose to admin positions due to learning, magic or valour eg obo evben isi ( corrupted to obomisi), okhuahe, iken etc. These were non inheritable. the urhobo ovie, orodje were a corruption of ogie, initially highly placed individuals from benin of ENOGIE status.

5. The dressing is similar though there are notable differences. The benin chiefs often do not wear shirts, but the enogies often wear shirts. Do the urhobo kings wear shirts?? In contemporary times, our dressing has become distinct from yours, especially the urhobo headwear which has no place in benin custom

Oza nogogo speaks an Edoid language called "ozara" , though it's dying now.

But the presence of ozara, a dying language, re affirms my point. The fact that Oza people are Edo people who migrated to an already Igbo speaking Agbor in the ancient times, is a well known fact, and they have Ozara language to prove it.

Sorry bro, you only helped my case with your Oza example.

Ika has always been Igbo speaking right from antiquity, Edo influences only introduced some Edo words and names into their vocabulary, just as Efik/ Ibibio influences introduced Efik / Ibibio names into AroChukwu vocabulary and names, but Ika like Arochukwu remain strictly Igbo, so much that any Igbo with understanding of Igbo Izugbe would have no problem holding a conversation with an Ika speaker at a first meeting. But no Bini or Edo man could ever understand Ika language.

It is a known fact that Bini at many to times in history introduced the "Ada" system in Ika area, where an Ika king can only rule if recognized by Bini, an Ika prince would be sent to Edo courts to learn the ways of the Edo, and returns at the appropriate time to take the throne in Ikaland as a Bini acculturated Ika king, who most of the time take the name of any dead famous Edo Oba, as his new name, in efforts to curry favour from Bini overlords, the New king was also fluent in Bini language, and carry out most of his court proceedings in Bini language, Bini language became an Elite language in most Ika royal courts, but the commoners spoke Ika.
The truth that Bini in the past forced her cultural imprints on Igboid speaking people of Anioma( Ika inclusive) is both a historical fact and a modern reality witnessed in Igbanke, where the Bini introduced Edoid titles like "Enogie" to replace original Igboid title that is "Eze", "Obi", etc, and where the Bini had been subtly encouraging the people to take on Edoid names, as those who do are subtly rewarded while those who doesn't are subtly frustrated.

Ogbuefi, a proud Igbo man of Ika origin once explained all these on this forum, I will look for those his posts.

But know this, no acculturation took place in Ika, the people were Igbo speaking from the very beginning.
First of all, there is no such thing as ozara, you've been corrected by different users but you insist! I am partly an Oza man, we have no igbo words at all, we only have bini and enuani, and as a fluent speaker of these dialects I don't need a stranger to tell me about my hx. And take note oza is not a dying language, our speakers have not diminished and thank God we recently started going to school. And what is the ADA system? I wonder where you get your theories from. IKA is not aniocha! Aniocha is igboid

Who were the original settlers at aro?? Who influenced who? The igbos came and fought the aboriginal ibibio severally until they finally won utilizing 5th columnists. The history is on wiki, read up

I could pursue this debate speaking OZA and you would not understand a word! Note also that the oza-nogogo have their kin, the oza-nisi in edo state, who speak bini with fewer ika words in it, and both groups bear benin names, understand bini, have benin customs and regalia.

Did the real igbos have ezes and obis? Who now told you that people who refuse to adopt benin names are dealt with?

No acculturation took place in Ukwuani, Ika or Ikwerre.

It is unprecedented in the history of humans, for a people to completely discard their language for the language of their neighbors without the use of force.

There was no Igbo empire to have forced Igbo language on those groups, and even in cases of acculturation, there are usually evidences of dead language, but there are no such things for those groups.

Ndiigbo also traded and had interactions with smaller groups like Ogoni, Idoma, Ekoi, Annang and Igala( Ibaji) , and non Of those groups are Igbo speaking today, few of them that speak Igbo at all, do so as a second language.

On the contrary, Bini was an imperialistic power, it is only logical that the Bini connections these groups speak of has everything to do with Bini imperialism rather than real ancestral relationship.
Half baked theories without proof, literature and logical soundness. how can these groups be referring to imperialism ? This means that all the lands uthman dan fodio invaded should have claimed him as their ancestor and had fulfude words in their dialects down to the old Oyo at kabba!!
Let's take an example, Oza-nogogo in IKA SW, they claim they were original bini speakers, then a benin king who was being chased through their land placed a spell on them, changing their dialect so his pursuers wouldn't knoW which way he went! The story is ridiculous anyway, but it doesn't change the fact that they bear edo names, they speak edo language fluently and have edo customs. And the story is similar in most towns around that axis, meaning that there had to be a real contact with the empire and not a mere subjugative relationship and moreover these towns are far too young to have been rivals to benin.

Note that benin foreign war policy was that captured towns were never allowed to speak edo language, NEVER! Instead princes and warriors were stationed there to start their own groups. Therefore any group that had bini words or bini variant dialect had to be from the source. And binis were not inland traders, so that removes the assumption that these words were loaned out due to trade contact. We only did internaational trade with the portuguese and our citizens were never sold out as slaves, so they could not have taken our language ouT.

In regards to ikwerres, ogba, ikas, this re one big tribes still being confused about their heritage and the adoption of igbos languages. Some will tell you categorically they re igbos while some will tell you they re benin. But where the problems lies is because of their languages which re more similar to that of ndigbos.
Though I am not denying the influence of benin empire by then but the evidence which I relied on is that, ndigbos was there and still there before the coming of benin people and that s why the language of ndigbo still has more advantage that dealt with any incoming languages from benin interactions except the ikas and ukwuani which have some forms of igbos and benin languages in their dialects.

The last time I travelled to benin city, the guy from auchi and the other one from oredo or esan cannot understands themselves. So they both prefare to use pilgin language as a means of communication. they told me that most of edo peeps from the same local gvt or communality or bit far away from each other can't understand/communicates with themselves cos the languages re different from each other. They even told me that the people from oredo local govt speaks esan cos of their proximity to benin city.

Sorry if I misrepresent the facts here but humans lived by impressions most a times.

At bolded, part of anioma(few ikas and few ukwuani) that claimed their descent to benin but they did a great mistakes by abandoning their languages and adopting the igbo languages. Even as big as ikwerres/ogba is. They even abandoned their languages and adopted igbo speaking dialects. It still baffled me and majority of igbo peeps. Sometime I do tell them, that there was a time few binis came to igbo lands but they inter married and had influenced on them like the ikas, ukwuani, ogba and ikwerres. The facts is that igbos already settled there before the coming of binin peeps.

My take..sad
What tha fUkk??
Who was the guy that told you that benin people in nearby communities cannot understand themselves?? Either you or that guy is lying to us! Any edo or esan man that can speak his language must understand bini or esan even though he may not be able to speak the other language fluently- and it also depends on his language aptitude or understanding of his own dialect. And HOW CAN OREDO SPEAK ESANhuh Oredo is not a dialect, it is the main benin location proper, the city centre. The language spoken is still the edo language or igodomiogodo as we prefer to call it. I hope you've really been to benin or you're not just pulling my legs! Everything you say about benin is FALSE!

As for ikwerre, ogba, ahoada, oguta and other areas that claim descent from benin, since they say that's where they are from , who are we to dispute? However benin history has the records of their migrations (though not all of them), and you should look at their ceremonial rites and traditional attire and travel to traditional festivals in benin, if there is much similarity then they may know their origins afterall! The edo could not have moved in and forced everyone to start dressing like them and use similar words with them.

The ika and anioma stuff is a non issue, I've trashed it in one of my threads before now.. Kindly check my profile

Indeed.. Ovie is actually derived from Ogie, the original edo word for king, that's why the first kings were called ogiso- shortened from ogie- iso, meaning sky-kings since they were believed to have descended from the sky

One reason the south-south will never support them is the genuine disrespect the south-south has for them for feeling it was okay to assume their (the south-south's) sons and daughters should go to war for them with completely zero consultation(in the first war), and their seeming incapacity to ever notice such a grievous error.
You will recall that most kingdoms of the south-south have similar cultures, with kings and their equivalent of upper and lower senate houses and chiefs, comprising their political structures, which existed for centuries. Structures the white man came to meet, making it easy for him to do do business through them.
The Okrikas and Bonny people (as an example) fought so many wars in the past which they both won and lost on their own ends. It was so bad that they had to come to an agreement and signed a treaty never to go to war again. Such ancient documents still exist in our palaces.
So you see that we will do things with consultation and with reason.
Coming out of such a background, the typical south-southerner sees the Igbo man as a ship without a rudder. And indeed, the complete diplomatic mess they made of the 1966 biafran struggle only seemed a confirmer of this opinion.
Fast forward to today and we find the very sad situation where younger Igbos (who are less read, less refined and less exposed than their 1966 counterparts) where their predecessors did not understand the place of diplomacy in the pursuit of a political goal seem to be 10X more bereft of it.
And this core bereftness does not seem to be something that can be cured. It seems to be something that comes right from the inside of their bones (maybe their social DNAs).
There is a means to the actualisation of the Biafra agenda (if the agitators have the sophistication enough, which it seems they are not).
Unfortunately, I have come to accept the fact that they may only learn from the hurt that comes from the results of their poor actions which will make them perpetually close to 75 years behind the rest of Nigeria - Socially and Politically speaking.
Economically, of course, is a topic for another discussion.
I am south-south
Their failure to consult with the so called 'non -ibo' groups is due to a certain pride, vain and lacking justification, a belief that they are a divinely endowed aryan race, allowed to lord over their neighbours- Infact I cringe when I hear ibos refer to the south south as their younger brother, what impunity!! Do the ibos have any historical heritage apart from the Aro murderers?
If biafra goes to war without consultation of the south, we would see it as an annexation and they'll have a war on multiple fronts.
With the present state of affairs, biafra is inachievable with tact or weaponry. Because the average agitator doesn't have an idea about their history, peculiarities of the nigerian kettle, emotional appeal and a core lack of diplomatic skill like you have opined

Pazienza on the contrary is far from being an intellectual, he is just a regular Biafran youth on the streets of Enugu, hustling to make a living, just like other millions of Biafran youths.

Biafra is a movement of the commoners, and not really the intellectuals, perhaps with time, our intellectuals Will join the train.

Furthermore, the Biafran current movement is not perfect, there are so much rooms for improvement, the road to freedom is a long and tortuous one, and I believe we would get it right at the end. The most important thing to me is that the movement is on and the passion and desire is there.

Any Igbo man that feels that the movement as it is currently configured is inefficient should join the group and bring his wonderful ideas on the table, lets hear them out, or better still build a better movement from scratch that will mirror him and his ideas, Biafra need as many hands as it can get, Nnamdi built IPOB from the scratch using his limited resources and using his persuasive power to get other Biafrans to believe in and sponsor his movement.

But please, don't sit at the comfort of your home and castigate the efforts of your people who put themselves on the line of fire.

Do something for Biafra today, you don't like the way the movement is currently being handled? Then make enquiries, attend a local IPOB meetings nearest to you, know the workings of the group better and be the bringer of the change you desire.

Stop complaining about problems, be a part of the solution.

God bless Biafra.
Like my friend said, this is not the right time at all.. We are just in the first year of a very popular government and you're threatening secession? We all know that the Nigerian govt job is a poisoned chalice, and the chances that buhari will fail is around 60%, so why not just give him time to fail?? Instead of protests nnamdi kanu should have reorganised his group into a respectable organization, call for reforms in government, explain the implication of the national conference report and PIB to the teeming ibo youths and call for its passage. If biafrans are protesting for PIB you think the world won't take you seriously? Just call for any bill that you know the government is uncomfortable with and people would see you guys as left wing, I REX FROM OVIA NORTH EAST, EDO STATE would gladly march with IPOB youths on such projects. The day afenifere and northern elders forum see nnamdi kanu as a threat, the biafran dream has been achieved.

When elections are approaching, nnamdi can claim that igbos are being systematically disenfranchised, that the current voter register would forever place the north ahead of other regions in the elections. The government would not want a new register, and nnamdi would suggest that the east may totally abstain from the election or they want implementation of the national conference report or they want their breakaway region. The hands of the government would be tied. In this period igbos can sponsor publicity debates in foreign channels and soon enough you'd get the world talking about the biafran situation. Nnamdi kanu was so close but he's blowing everything with these meaningless protests.

And with the previous goodworks done by IPOB, hardliners like us would be powerless in stopping SS youth from wanting in on biafra or wanting to form a quasi-federation. Violence has never been a lasting solution. If we go to war today, the hausa/fulani would be eager to annihilate the igbos once and for all

UNITY OF PURPOSE

There are too many pro-biafran groups and sometimes their ideologies are conflicting. For instance there is no standard map of biafra, there are different maps being circulated covering differnt areas. Biafra needs recognised and credible people to champion their cause and not online flash mobs

PAN IBO ASSOCIATION

There is a huge void in the igbo nation, as it does not have a real umbrella body that covers them properly. And it is also true that the averaage igbo man does not want to covered, as he feels he is a king in his own house , as the popular saying goes Igbo nwe' Eze meaning the igbos haave no king. The ohaneze ndigbo is seen as too polarized and romances freely with the nigerian government, and there have often been reports of discrimination at minority igbos .
Nnamdi kanu could transform ipob into an ibo sociocultural group, since it already enjoys the support of the masses, it only needs to speak out against crimes being committed by igbos. For instance if ipob continuously condemns igbo drug traffickers and money launderers then the world would take you much more seriously. After removing the log from your eyes you can start condemning injustice done against ibos nationwide, then even your ohaneze ndigbo would beg to be allied with ipob
Furthermore you can carry out debates on your radio biafra regarding economic prospects with facts backing them, this would attract ibos in diaspora and when they are convinced of its viability they would push for UN acceptance. The importance of this step is so that you don't lose your investments in nigeria as would be the case if we separate under less amicable terms.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS

Respect for other parts of the south is very essential as even if some of these areas eventually end up outside biafra, they would still be your neighbours. Even if biafra would get a port it would be functional pn the first day, you would still need to carry goods through these neighbouring states. And they would also act as buffer towns, because if we really think of the number of ibos in nigeria, if you should be evicted, biafra won't be large enough to house everyone. We all know that during christmas and new year visits some people end up sleeping in the sitting room and inside their cars due to overcrowding.
And also radio biafra should also give attention to the non ibo elements of biafra as they are doing you aa big favour. The easiest way to get a rivers man to like you is to play Rex Lawson's music

FINAL STEP
After doing the above, everyone would support the idea of an ibo nation

In phillip effiong's surrender statement, he said the state of biafra now ceases to exist, on seeing the renegades gowon was moved to tears, the video is available on youtube for all who want to see it.

After that he began the process of reconstruction and rehabilitation of the war ravaged areas, gave out 20 pounds and set up NYSC.
Before the british came, southern nigeria were independent of each other, when the whites came with slave trading, the efik and aros particularly stood out in selling their kin and captured slaves, smaller minority groups were pushed deeper into the forests to hide from slave traders and the edo empire. Plz read mary slessor's biography, it contains her diaries too and is a very valuable resource on the history of southern nigeria. After the decline of slave trading the british formed the southern nigeria protectorate under sir ralph moor, and the individual areas were gradually absorbed , some by negotiation others by military action such as Aro.

Fast forward to 1914, the northern, southern and lagos were joined as one country.

Fast forward to 1967, there were already tensions and the ibos wanted to leave. But according to wikipedia, both ojukwu and gowon already had knowledge of the crude in the ND. So he carved out east central state to isolate the grieving ibos. This provoked ojukwu who then declared biafra shortly after. Soon enough ojukwu invaded the midwest to annex her similar to hitler's lebensaurum policy as he knew that he could not defeat nigeria and annex the whole country, and the federal troops started recovering the whole of nigeria back.

Fast forward to 2015, biafra is back, but nnamdi kanu is doing it the wrong way, majority of the areas he's claiming do not even know the implication of biafra, there was no consultation whatsover. As a stateholder I suggest the following recommendations

We don't claim Lagos to be no man's land. Give me a link where an respected BIAFRAN said so...
Lots of Igbo threads on NL are created by yorubas to stir up the hate, you should know.
Interesting.. So who are the respected biafrans and how do we identify them?? A lot of your biafran activists have claimed lag as a free zone. At least we know the troublesome yorubas and have learned to ignore some of them

Are yorubas not roaming the UK?
They don't claim to control the UK or say London is no man's land

Hate messages? We want Biafra, but you lots turned it to a tribal affair because you just cannot side with Igbos, right or wrong!
There's no point.. Because biafrans would still roam nigeria freely. Biafrans are a moral burden to nigerians
