antitpiah: Same WRT to message; similar with respect to content and delivery. She is overrated, trust me your foreign friends are only saying positive things about her when they are around you so as to make your despondent self happy and not be seen as being too harsh on a fish-brain and low self esteeem lost Black soul like yourself. It is one of the many ways they control your emotions, lower your self worth and make your lazy mind depend on them for validation, just like they did to our grand parents when they colonized them. Well, it seems you have not learnt to think for yourself after so many years and thousands of dollars spent on educating your fickle mind. . . a mind is REALLY a terrible thing to waste. And a colonized educated mind is really a TERRIBLE thing to waste. I would not want to be you.I hope you are kidding? This youngwoman is a symbol of hope for all Nigerians under the age of 40. Why are you so bitter? Allow me to posit that, anyone who is widely read/travelled would not fail to see the potency of her achievements and strides. Chimamanda, in my honest opinion, cuts across tribes or states! She is simply a star! Btw, she has the most gorgeous eyes!!! ![]() |
Oma se !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are we headed, as a country ![]() Is there hope for this country, at all?? What kind of senseless looting is this ![]() |
pcicero:Picero! Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
@Femmy 2010! How much will it cost to clear a year 2000 Golf? |
@ All! Abeg, any testimony from one who has done this Cotonou crossover? I am thinking of going down that route for an SUV; but have no clue what pitfalls may be out there. |
Oga Sienna, Compliments man! I have misplaced your number. I am a UK resident with a question or two. I am thinking of an Outlander 2004, Automatic, Petrol. What is your considered opinion here? Thanks, Riba_man |
I still marvel at the way we are reacting to Mr Adeniyi's memoirs. Look, this country ain't going no where until Govt officials and public officials learn that there is no secret in what they say and do. We all lie and lie that we want a virile democracy, yet we are attacking a man who has the guts to try and live out one of the keystones of true democracy. Kia, Nigerians una tire me!! |
Haba People! For a generation of Nigerians, this is the very first eye witness account of what goes in the corridors of power that they shall be reading. Please, rather than condemn Adeniyi, let us read his account before we begin the abuse and cursing sessions. |
Buhari would have made a good president, but he ruined his chances with his past utterances and actions. He was not a bad GOC in Jos, in fact he was known to be fair and straightforward. (How I take sabi? I be an ex-BB) He has loads of baggage, e.g his fellow Hausa Fulani elites think he has an axe to grind with them, on account of how they flocked to IBB as soon as Buhari was overthrown. Down South, the Southerners are very distrustful of him and his mien. He looks like he has agenda to pursue, an agenda that has religion and bigotry written all of over it. The Middle Belters don't trust him at all, at all. Why ![]() He is part of a Northern establishment that specialized in using Middle Belt Officers to do their hatchet jobs. He is also viewed as one from a place that has sent the highest number of Middle Belt Officers to the gallows. Even if the election is conducted a 1,000 times, BUharia and IBB will always lose in the Middle Belt. The reason is very simple, this zone has a very high number of retired military men who saw and/or know the so-called Buhari and IBB first-hand. It will take a non-military connected northern candidate to win the votes of the Middle belt, as things stand. Should anyone doubt the power of ex-soldiers, go and read the role of the ex WW 2 veterans in the struggle for independence in Africa and other places. |
This na MY HOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |
Attention all ! Haba Nigerians, when did we get this low? I am not an Igbo man, but have had the privilege of reading up stuff re the civil war, as well as the run-up to the war. Some of the tribalistic fiends/goons here should not just judge the man (Ojukwu) on the war, to understand the man and the civil war, one must read the events that happened in the run-up to the war. I can see why this country (Nigeria) will never change, we are so short sighted and simplistic in our analysis of issues. |
The sheer drivel that comes out of the gobs of us Nigerians is totally sickening. Whatever side you fought on during the Nigerian Civil War is now irrelevant: you have to belong to the lucky 1% that has looted, or/and are still looting Nigeria, to be satisfied with the current status quo. In fact, I have seen and heard retired army officers regret that they fought to keep the Nigeria one. So, stop all the childish name-calling: Nigeria is in a bigger crisis |
@ All That Nigeria must change is not disputed, what we need are the women and men to actualize or lead this change. El Rufai was an 'idol' of mine from his BPE days to the time he went to the FCT, but this has changed. The man allowed his 'halo' to slip, thanks to some of his actions whilst at the helm of the FCT and his unqualified support for Buhari. Buhari lost the elections, not to GEJ, but to his [Buhari] own antecedents! Buhari and co have a lot to answer for the the way this country has been steered thus far. You can not wake up and decree change, Buhari and co (el Rufai) have to own up to their parts or roles in the pillaging of Nigeria. Having owned up, they can then ask for forgivenes, then and only then can they become mouthpieces for Project New Nigeria. Until they do this, they would be viewed as disgruntled 'outsiders', who were once 'insiders'. |
Beautiful Obudu, Cross River State |
@ All Why not delineate what the terms and/or boundaries of this topic are? It is sad to see how a good number here are intent on approaching it only on their on terms. I,for one, don't think it is a science textbook. Neither is it a book of history. Lastly, it was never written to prove the existence of God. Before you shout me down, allow me to say I am a Christian and my FAITH matters a lot to me. The Bible as trashed here, and by other people can never come between me and God!!!! ![]() |
About this topic: When is the NBA going to do something about lawyers who delibrately lead their clients on? When are we going to find Judges who are ready to penalized lawyers who waste the Courts' time? This suit is so frivolous, even non-lawyers know this fact. ANY LAWYERS IN THE HOUSE? Come out and rescue your colleagues who are so hellbent on sharing in Akala's loot |
Hard to believe Obj on this matter! After all, they say "Old Soldiers Never Die, they only fade away" ![]() |

texazzpete:I hear what you are saying, but this has gone beyond entertainment! No one has a right to tell you who to watch or follow, for your entertainmetn! But if the truth were made clear to our people, the generality of them will do a rethink. The money you pay to follow your EPL club on Pay TV ends up in the EU. The money factor [THE MONEY PAID BY FANS EVERYWHERE] shows that footbal is no longer merely about entertainment, it is purely big business right now! The EPL is now about capital flight and neo-colonialism. By the way, I have been known to watch a match now and again! |
@ All posters! Whether we like it or not, European Football is the next stage in the European conquest of the rest of us! It is sad to see how the average Nigerian youth has been taken over by the football bug. It is even more distressing to note the same youths who don't know the 1st eleven of Eyimba know the entire 21 players of the CHelsea and/or Arsenal, Man U and/or Man City, Aston Villa and/or Birmingham teams. I was in the village a while ago, my papa has this dish that he uses to know what AIT and/or CNN is/are saying. Believe it or not, as I sat there talking to papa, a child standing by me just rattled off the first 11 of Chelsea FC. I immediately asked this child to read the 4 times or 5 times table for me, na so NEPA take light for him mouth. I chased him to his papa's house, they are our neighbours, the man egged me on to punish am well well. By the way, this incident took place in the foothills of the Obudu Ranch! Even in the back water of my home village, European football don spread its tentacles reach there. Re European Football, whether we admit it or not, "HOUSTON We Have a Problem" should be our new mantra or prayer!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re the comments made by the Amb Campbell earlier, and the subsequent refusal of Entry visa: there are a couple of issues that must be teased out. Was he totally wrong in signposting what direction our polity was headed? Was he overly pessimistic, as most oyibos are? Was he serving other interests or was he honestly interested in our future as a country? Re the Entry Visa: was is good to deny a visa to a onetime head of a country's diplomatic mission to our country? Anyone here knows that saying "Old soldiers never die, they only fade away" ? Retired diplomats are like soldiers, cultivating them has its usefulness. I hope those who authorized the denial have good reasons? One just hopes there was no PDP bad belly involved! Lastly, Nigeria must not be castigated for denying anyone a visa. Other countries deny her nationals visas day in, day out! |
Whilst I think the title of this tread as put up on the frontpage is misleading in some ways; I am firmly convinced that a non-performing party should be de-registered. In this case, there is quite a huge number of parties. Yes, they should be go! |
@ Egoldman and Frank, Kind thanks for your answers. Here are the figures that were returned to me after deduction of all charges: FBN 10 units @ 40.40 =====387,769.55 Ashaka 9k Units @ 80.5 ====704,177.77 Ecobank 20k Units @ 8.47===164,648.32 Pls do these figures add up in your own estimation? Do they tie up with rates that the minister released months ago? Pls help me, and thanks upfront for your help and time. |
@ All the Gurus I don't trust my brokerage firm {which is no news to a lot of us here, I suppose }, they sold a few items for me recently. I am incapable of doing accurate maths myself { I now see why I should have listened to my Maths teacher years ago Pls can any one help with the following 10k units of FBN stock sold @ 40.40 on the 25/05/2007 9k units of Ashaka stock sold @ 80.5 on the 31/05/2007 20k of Ecobank stock sold @ 8.47 on the 31/05/2007 The question here is what would have been the individual balance for each of the stocks after deduction of all sundry fees? I might look stupid because of this post, but I need to be reassured else the firm and myself might be visiting the SEC/ NSE disciplinary commitees .Kind thanks, in anticipation, to all who offer me their help |
@damoche07 It would surprise you to know that Enolase does not work for Access Bank Plc. On the other hand, I would be surprised if you did not go on to search for his well thought-out posts on this forum. The man talks sense, and he is a Medical Doctor. I was not going to look at Access Bank, he may have swayed me with the analysis above. |
@ALL The Soyinka thing goes beyond freedom of speech, it is all about love for Nigeria. Kongi is not a saint and has never cast himself in the role, what must not be lost sight of is the wisdom that he brings forth. I studied in Ibo land, I can still recall the number of times an Ibo colleague stood up to berate the Nobel institute for giving the nobel to him rather than Achebe. So, he is not perfect but there are several reasons why we should listen to him. He, like Achebe, or any other great Nigerian, should be listened to because of the wealth of experience they pack. For those who say he started cultism in Nigeria, at least he is better than OBJ, who armed people vicariously to unleashed mayhem in Anambra and Oyo states during his watch. He closed his eyes to the inadequacies of his hench men, he practiced selective justice and broke one of the golden princples on which states are built i.e Dicey's RULE OF LAW. He saw himself and his government as being above the law of the land. Our elders say "show me your friends and I'd tell you who you are" Did you see the photo of OBJ giving an award to Abacha posthomously? A Chinese sage once said, "a picture says more than a thousand words". Do you know how those who had any faith in the system and OBJ felt when the saw that picture in the press? What was he saying to those who had lose all or a lot during Abacha's days? It would be stupid to say OBJ got everything wrong, but boy he got almost everything wrong. Look at the men and women who did well in his tenure, none of them had any political connections, although they all carry the PDP card today. OBJ is not hailed and sung like his colleague South Africa, foor the simple reason that he had a great opportunity to change Nigeria forever, but we all know what he did. The goodwill he had from the start was blown when he chose to become a PDP president and not a Nigerian president, in case you do not know the difference, ask Mandela of SA or the late Ataturk of Turkey. For those who can't see the woods for the trees, supporting Atiku for the lettered mind had nothing to do with emotions. I supported Atiku because of the RULE OF LAW, OBJ had become the sole arbiter in the land and thought he had the power to interprete the constitution as it suited he and Bayo Ojo. There is this little write-up that supports what I am saying, I am paraphrasing here -they came for the Jews and I kept quiet, they came for the gays and again I kept quiet, they came for communist and I did not protest, when they came for me, they took me away quietly because there was no one left to protest my arrest-. The Atiku thing was to make a point, the Law as any one knows is an ass, hence the fact that Atiku enjoyed its protection. Now that the immunity thing is over, the two of them should be brought before the courts and we would hear stuff that would make us puke. Finally, let us not lose sight of the fact that true democracy is yet to arrive in Nigeria. All those who have governed Nigeria since 1960 to Yar' Adua are all part of the same cabal or unit. It does not matter whether we see them as civillians or soldiers, they are of the same ilk and background (ala Arthur Nwankwo). Before you start attacking me, look around you and see how the same persons who have been in the corridors of power in Nigeria are now installing their siblings, cousins and children in those same corridors. Why do you think the Unis in Nigeria are underfunded? In this way their children who have studied in the UK and US would be the ones with the right skills and certificates. Stop attacking yourselves, rather attack the cabal who see our Great Nigeria as their toy. My two cents |
