mad nigerian: Actually I am not Yoruba.(mother is...pops from South South).....and unfortunately I do come from a tribe that killed twins at birth before Christianity came.

And yes, Yorubas too did kill twins.....and no, I do not consider them barbaric. It may have been a practice that started thousands of years ago during famines, and then acquired the veneer of traditional religious belief as justification.
@OP
Your last paragraph shows a deep mind that has given deep thought to small matter of twins-killing.
Forget this country, fast money has led to a demand for fast miracles.
Car TalkRe: New Policy On Importation Of Tokunbo Cars: Big News Page by Ribaman(m): 7:05pm On Jan 09, 2014
Let's face facts, no country ever grew by relying on others to provide all needs.
The automative policy of Nigeria is merely a paper based idea, to move it to the next level, FGN must put in place steps and ideas that will kick start things. You just don't wake up one morning and decide implement an automative policy, that has been gathering dust in one govt dept for aeons.
GEJ has the ideas, but there are times when he appears to shoot himself in the foot. Re this case:
Why the rush, knowing that the requisite groundwork has not been done?
Why is the Stallion group getting preferential treatment?
Why is not carrying the entire country along? Surely his ministers and praise-singers don't constitute any significant number viz-a-viz the population of Nigeria.
As always, with GEJ, a good policy but terrible implementation plans. ( by the way, do they actually employ good and certified Project Managers in the Presidency?)

Foreign AffairsRe: Annoying Facts Abt Mandela And Nigerians by Ribaman(m): 7:53pm On Dec 10, 2013
The OP's contribution is a very nuanced, to make sense of it one must be open-minded.
I don't think the OP has insulted the memory of the Madiba in anyway, the OP has called for a measure of introspection on our part, as Nigerians. To be fair, the OP might even be more respectful of Mandela than a good number of his traducers.
Why the angst?
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Snubbed At Mandela's Memorial by Ribaman(m): 2:32pm On Dec 10, 2013
deshclones: what do u stand to gain from this childish write-up?
Let me spell out to you then:
Nigeria did a lot for the anti-apartheid movement than the countries that the bulk of today's speakers represent. My retired father has his own personal stories of what the Obj military regime did for ANC.
I think its not Jonathan that has suffered a snub, nope it's Nigeria that has been snubbed. How low this country has fallen!

Let's forget about the sensational and attention grabbing headline!
So Jigawa has a state university? Thats no problem yet, but it become more than a problem and even verges on the absurd when one recalls that Jigawa is currently unable to take up her full admission quota from the various Federal Universities in/surrounding Jigawa.
How on earth is Jigawa funding a university?!?!?!?!?!?

That road(though CCECC's yard was stationed there that time)was the worst road in Nigeria.I vowed not to try it again in my life..hope they have finished the road now?

The road has been worked upon. I was on that road a while back
Sadly, the Chinese can't deliver J Berger quality.
TravelRe: A Nairalanders Trip To Obudu Cattle Ranch by Ribaman(m):
I hail from hereabout!
Obudu Cattle Ranch is situated in one of the most picturesque places on God's earth, ie The northern tip of Cross River state. I am ever thankful that my village doesn't form a part of the ranch itself, for very obvious, (and somewhat selfish), reasons.
Mr Donald Duke gave the place the current gracious and pleasant face that it wears. Like most things associated with Duke, he failed to see thru his initial plans to globalise it. He handed the day-to-day management of the place to his South African cronies, who to be fair did a fine job, but ended up making it too upmarket for Mass marketing purposes.
Re the current state of affairs: it not your euro Disneyland, it is not for those seeking for a thrill. Its a natural Oasis of peace and a fine place to regain/find one's inner bearings.
However, if well priced and pitched well, the Ranch should lead to more guests and a growth in other ancillary sectors.
I am never slow in coming forward re the beauty of my home: even in the far flung places that I have visited, I never to tell about my home.

Christianity EtcRe: Are Churches Really Helping The Poor And Unemployed In Our Society Today? by Ribaman(m): 6:25pm On Oct 10, 2013
It is very wrong for any one individual to suggest that it is wrong to examine or ventilate the claims/positions/assertions of a church or her ministers. Such a position is indicative of the extent that our leaders have brain washed us, little wonder occupies of elective posts become angry when some courageous soul tries to hold them accountable.
I am a Christian, and go to church more than once a week: I see no reason why my church or pastor/priest should not be accountable to us.

DSTV cannot and should not hold us hostage in our own country?
I intend giving up my DSTV subscription, the service is crappy and here they are extorting more money out of us
PoliticsRe: Reuben Abati And Fani-Kayode Insult Themselves On Twitter by Ribaman(m):
FFK has every right to say whatever he wants to say about Reuben, vice versa!
But for me, Reuben trumps FFK on every count that really matters. FFK enjoys name recognition, unlike Reuben who pulled himself up by his bootstraps. With a First Class from Unical, Reuben sowed the seeds of his own greatness and has used two degrees from UI to garnish the Summa Cum Laude ( First Class Hons) from Unical.
Between the two, Reuben for me any day. Reuben represents all of us who have had to work hard and achieve without our family name to aid/support us.

I am not surprised, your language betrays you more than you know or imagine.
So GEJ is all of what you described? So what becomes of Abacha, IBB, and even OBJ?
How do you rate those ones? Particularly IBB and ABACHA?
Please, go ahead and tell your bros to impeach him! But remember those fine and wise words: "be careful re what you Pray or wish for".
Don't forget that wise saying "To every reaction, there is an equal and opposite reaction"!
Nigeria belongs to us all, forget the bull droppings your feudal lords fed you in the past.
