WithinCity: Agege Chairmanship aspirant sends open letter to President Tinubu
Agege Local Government Chairmanship aspirant, Taiwo Olasunkanmi Samuel (TOS) has sent an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the upcoming local government Chairmanship election.
With the deepest sense of respect and loyalty, I write to you not just as an aspirant in the upcoming Agege Local Government election scheduled for July 12, but as a son of the soil, a full-blooded member of the Agege community, and more importantly, a citizen who believes in the Nigeria you dream of—a nation where fairness, justice, and merit are not mere slogans but lived realities.
Mr. President, permit me to speak from the heart, the way a son would approach a beloved father in moments of earnest desire. I have no doubt that your heart beats for this country, and that your highest ambition is to leave behind a legacy built on equity and truth. That is why I am reaching out, not to ask for favours, but for what I know you too believe in—a level playing field for all. Everyone can testify that this is one of your philosophies that has endeared your teeming loyalists, including me, to you.
The coming election in Agege is not just a local contest; it is a litmus test of our democratic maturity. It is a mirror that reflects whether or not the voices of the grassroots truly matter in our polity. I have lived among my people, I have eaten from their pots, shared in their sorrows and celebrated their joys. I understand their yearnings not through reports or secondhand tales, but through lived experience. I am one of them—one of their own—and I can tell you today that what they desire is not imposition, not manipulation, but fair play. They want a chance to choose. They want a system that listens, not one that dictates.
I am not the son of a wealthy kingmaker, nor the favourite of powerful brokers. What I am is a child of Agege—born, bred, and shaped by its streets and its stories. I have watched our community rise in resilience, and I know we are capable of achieving more with the right kind of leadership. Agege people want that leadership elected, not anointed.
Your Excellency, I ask you—as a son appeals to his father—please ensure that the machinery of democracy is not hijacked at the grassroots. Let the will of the people be the deciding force in who leads them. Let every aspirant, whether backed by wealth or willpower, have equal opportunity to test their popularity. That is the Nigeria we believe in. That is the Nigeria you are building. That is the leader you are known for.
I believe in your vision. I believe that under your guidance, we can lay the foundation for a more purposeful and people-driven form of representation. Give us a fair ground to run, and let the people decide who truly represents their hopes.
As your son in this vast family called Nigeria, I do not ask for special treatment. I ask only for fairness. And I know, deep down, that you will not deny us that.
May God bless you with the wisdom to continue to lead this nation aright. And may He bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
With utmost respect and sincerity, I remain your loyal political son,
Hon. Taiwo Olasunkanmi Samuel (TOS) Aspirant, Agege Local Government Chairmanship Election July 12, 2025
Whenever I hear stories like this and I watch people taking sides while calling the guys mother all sorts of names, I always pause to think. Now, the thing is that sometimes some mothers turn out to be right and sometimes they turn out to be wrong but what's important is the end result. I used to have a friend who is friend to a guy from one of this southern states and this southern guy was on several occasions advised by this parents especially his mother, not to marry an ibo girl, she had her valid reasons which she disclosed to her son and according to my former friend were valid, but her son insisted on going on with the marriage and she offered her full support together with her sons father but years later, one thing led to the other lots of secrets regarding the lady started coming out. Infact, from the last update that I got from my former friend before I ended my friendship with the guy because him ways no pure again, the girl don turn the guy upside down and family no dey near the guy again, pikin dey abuse mama and wife dey support am, mama don turn witch over night.
Truthfully, anybody fit mess up but make your own mess up no be for marriage because you fit no recover
phosky: History was made under the lights of Times Square — and it had a Nigerian heartbeat.
On Sunday, April 21st, Tunde Onakoya, the visionary behind Chess in Slums Africa, officially shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon — clocking in at an incredible 62 hours (and still going!). Side by side with U.S. chess master Shawn Martinez, Onakoya didn’t just outplay the clock — he outdreamed the limits. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The previous record stood at 61 hours. But for Tunde, this wasn’t about the numbers. It never was.
“For all the dreamers! We’ve officially broken the record!” he posted joyfully on X (formerly Twitter). But what followed struck deeper.
“Every move, every hour, a love letter to children who’ve never known the luxury of a second chance.”
Let that sink in. This wasn’t just chess. It was a mission, a movement, a marathon of hope.
The chess duel kicked off on Wednesday, April 17, in the heart of New York City, but its true purpose resonated far beyond the board. Tunde’s goal? To raise awareness and funds to build Nigeria’s largest free school for homeless children — a place where forgotten dreams can breathe again.
And as the hours ticked by, you could feel the purpose growing stronger with each move.
“If you had 70 hours to change the world, what would you do?” Tunde’s words weren’t just for himself — they were a rallying cry for everyone who’s ever carried a big dream with a heavy heart.
This marks his second attempt at the title. In 2024, he and Martinez completed a 60-hour chess marathon, only to have it topped two months later by Norwegian players who hit 61 hours. This time, though, they’ve not only reclaimed the title — they’re pushing for 70+ hours to make the moment last even longer.
Because for Tunde, it’s never just been about records. It’s about visibility for the invisible. It’s about using intellect to rewrite stories of poverty. It’s about showing that you don’t need power or privilege to make global impact — just passion, purpose, and a strategy that begins with one move.
Tunde Onakoya has done more than break a world record. He’s reminded us all what it means to fight for something bigger than yourself.
So let’s support this cause. Let’s make noise. Let’s turn this moment into movement.
ricson11: https://youtu.be/T5MB8PL0sgE There was unrest in Zaki Biam, Benue State, as angry youths vehemently rejected Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, Ukum LGA Chairman Hon. Jonathan Modi, and other prominent indigenes from entering their community. Shouting “Go! We don’t need you here!”, the protesters blocked access and expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s presence and perceived neglect of the area.
If father never became Governor, his supporters would say "The best Governor we never had"
When that time comes, Lere will start deleting tweets, he will start apologising to people he insulted while trying to serve his lord and personal savior, Wike. We shall all be here to witness the next 7years.
BERNIMOORE: Listening to Fubara Easter message of reconciliation and more support for president Tinubu.....one could see that he might be going through some loneliness and nothing can be so devastating like someone else occupying his own office and still carrying out what Fubara refused to do ....IBAS is doing just everything without noise You would wonder why Fubara surround himself with mediocre like lkenga ugochinyere and many other mediocre..... until now Fubara was thinking that he is as heavy as a bag of cement, he was was busy showing strength until President Tinubu Just picked Fubara just like a pure water nylon and throw him aside to pave way for a serious administrator lbas
Grown ass man sounding demented online all because of #30,000.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has given suspended Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State condition for peace.
Wike said he is open to forgiveness if Fubara apologizes over the political crisis in the state.
Wike and Fubara had been at loggerheads shortly after the latter became governor in 2023.
The crisis between the duo affected the state House of Assembly, a situation that led to factionalization of the legislature in the state.
As the political crisis started degenerating into insecurity challenges, President Bola Tinubu had declared a state of emergency.
Tinubu also suspended Fubara for six months while appointing a sole administrator.
However, addressing a media parley in Abuja, Wike said: “Has anybody approached anybody? I don’t like people who are hypocrites. I have told her to mention an elder in Rivers running around the governor who has taken steps to achieve peace?
“At the end of the day, if we don’t achieve anything, we will still go back to square one, which does not make sense.
“The day Mr President intervened, the assembly people immediately withdrew the impeachment notice. I’m open to forgiveness if he comes sincerely.”
This drunk wan become godfather by force na you dey beg for forgiveness, dey grant press briefing since but the person wey you plot with Tinubu to suspend still dey calm and it's 1 month today. This Wike is a mumu man u dey beg person to come ask for forgiveness....clown
btvnigeria: ROTIMI AMAECHI LEADS NIGERIANS FOR BETTER FUTURE AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS AS PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL ...Wondering which Political Platform will be used for Amaechi's 2027 Presidential Bid
Usman Musa Bello Reporting Live from Abuja...
Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, has emerged as a key figure in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential elections.
As a potential presidential hopeful, Amaechi's comments on Nigerian society have sparked intense debate.
His statement about Nigerians being docile and unresponsive to significant issues, including extreme violence, highlights a concerning aspect of the country's social fabric.
Amaechi's remarks suggest that Nigerians might tolerate electoral malpractices, such as lack of transparency and vote rigging, without demanding change.
This perceived docility could perpetuate the cycle of poor leadership and undermine efforts to reform the electoral process.
To address this, citizens must participate in the electoral process, report electoral malpractices, and demand transparency and accountability from their leaders.
The docility Amaechi mentioned might also explain why Nigerians often accept security challenges, like insurgency and banditry, without pushing for more effective solutions.
This could exacerbate electoral violence and compromise the security of the nation.
Amaechi's potential presidential bid could bring attention to these security concerns and push for more effective solutions.
Amaechi's statement implies that Nigerians might not demand better institutional frameworks, such as improved electoral administration and campaign finance regulation.
This could perpetuate the status quo, where women hold less than 6% of political offices, and other institutional inadequacies persist.
Civil society organizations and advocacy groups can push for reforms, such as improved electoral administration and increased representation of women in politics.
To demand a better future, Nigerians must work together to break the cycle of docility.
This can be achieved through:
- Civic Engagement: Citizens participating in the electoral process and demanding transparency and accountability from their leaders.
- Advocacy: Civil society organizations and advocacy groups pushing for reforms, such as improved electoral administration and increased representation of women in politics.
- Leadership Accountability: Leaders being held accountable for their actions, and citizens demanding better governance and service delivery.
Amaechi's potential presidential bid could be a step towards addressing these challenges and promoting better leadership and accountability in Nigeria.
His rumored selection as a potential running mate for Atiku Abubakar, a presidential hopeful, has sparked interest in the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
Looking at a beautiful picture in the struggle to replace Bola Tinubu as president of Nigeria in 2027 Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi remains a stronger and better force in partnership with the North.
Amaechi has the northern connect having been tested, trusted and charished by the North in 2015 and again in 2019 as the Buhari presidential campaign organization Director General who delivered twice for Buhari to become and return as president in 2015 and 2019 respectively.
The northern connection with Amaechi is very solid and stronger than whatever any other Aspirant can provide because without the northern connection it will be hard for whosoever to become president no matter how popular you might think you are.
Remember the North has a style of politics controlled by the trusted elites over time.
helinues: The opposition, the coalition, even if they start talking today, it's too late for them to defeat president Tinubu in 2027.
I am yet to see which combo, which politicians as president and VP candidate that will defeat his Excellency in 2027 election
Wait for some appointments anytime from 2026 in some strategic areas. Those appointed would want to keep their job, they have no choice than to work for the presidency. They have projects to show/to prove in those strategic areas
You are a clown. The day I go catch you? Na better beating I go give you.
blacksam01: ....Among these three super popular person and rich young influencial Nigerians who command the most respect and admiration among aspiring young guy in the streets....?
givedemwotowoto: “On matters of security, the bulk stops at the President’s table. Like in other countries, Jonathan is the Chief Security Officer. Stop Boko H
Whenever it gets to them, they become handicap in taking same decision and Handling issues same way they condemned it the previous years. Like Buhari, Like Tinubu. Today, Tinubu is busy travelling up and down while the same boko haram he condemned Jonathan's govt of not ending still exists, he cannot come and end it.
SatoshiX: Which lawyer is going to represent the RVSG? Not sure a member of the NBA will. Interesting days ahead.
OCJ Okocha and his cohorts are there. That's the man so many people looked up to in this lingering crisis but just like everyone else with interests, he's only but interested in his own pocket and that of his family. It's such a shame. We shall see what will become of all of these men, it's a matter of time.
FreeSpirited: You will never understand what it means to fall into grave sexual temptation until you start living a sexually pure life or until you decide to work for God. . I'm not yet a pastor in full time ministry but I can tell you the truth based on series of temptation I get these days, the work of a pastor is one of the hardest when it comes to standing against sexual temptation. Yesterday I also perfectly understood why pastors fall for married women or ladies whose marriage or relationship is in crises during counseling. . The truth is counselling a heart broken woman is a big trap. A big trap that can only take God and courage to not fall into. You will be shocked that the person you are counseling is so vulnerable and sexually primed that the greatest emotions flowing through her at that time is a urge to be touched, cuddled, caressed and knacked. I saw everything last night, and my defence began to crack, wane, weakened and almost dissolved completely while the lady was begging time for me to touch her. . It was yesterday I realized that deciding to live a holy life or deciding to be a pastor means that you have only signed yourself into continuous sexual temptation. No wonder most pastors fail! I thought I had won the demon of temptation until I experienced the dimension of counseling a broken married lady. . I won't go into the story. It's a long crazy one. But pastors will understand what I'm saying .... And if you have not counselled a heartbroken woman either married or single... You can never understand. How I escaped without crashing totally is a mystery.
Semi pastor that knows how to use the word "knack"? Hmmmmmm
