The question here isnt whether City are a big club or not, nor whether games against City are as big as United, Chelsea or Arsenal.

It's simply a question of whether games between City and the top three are "big". And considering:

A. The managers and players of the top three clubs have ALL conceded games against City are big

B. When Chelsea, United & Arsenal go to the City of Manchester Stadium, they are NOT favorites to win

C. City have the ability to compete for the very same thing the top three are competing for

D. City probably have as good a squad as the top three

. . . Only a simpleton of the highest caliber would say City vs Arsenal/United/Chelsea is not a big game.

How can Manchester city be a big club?Because they buy players alone? What a the club's pedigree, heritage and history?Don't those two count anymore?
What have City won to be labled a big club?
Just because Fergie and co claim it is a big game doesn't mean it is by default, unless we're saying that every word that comes out of their mouth be law and order. . .which I don't buy into.
City aren't even as big as United, even if they buy the whole world. That is why any game involving City is mere hype. The United City game is based on a CITY rivalry, that's why it recieves attention. But the gulf in class between the two sides cannot make it a big game.
City don't have to be a "big club" for it to be a big game. . . City are (potential) title contenders, as are United, Chelsea, Arsenal. If a game between two CLOSELY MATCHED teams with the ability to compete for the title isnt a big game, then what is?

Chelsea spanked Wigan 8-0 last season to win the title. Do we say it wasnt a big game for Chelsea because Wigan arent a "big club"?

You are just embarrassing yourself left, right, and center. . .

Of course Arsenal vs City is a big game. . . Just like City vs Chelsea & City vs United were big games for BOTH clubs.

A suitable word to describe the sort of cretin that says Arsenal vs City is not a big game is yet to be invented. . .

Hehehe . . . you think Wenger has a 49-51 chance of beating Mourinho?? Especialy in a year they're joint top favourites to win the UCL??
You're high on agbo.  grin grin
It's not about Wenger vs Mourinho, it's about Arsenal vs Real Madrid.

Wenger has beaten Fergie many times before, do you think Arsenal stand a better chance of eliminating United than Real Madrid?

Wenger's goons disgraced Ancelotti's defending champs a few seasons ago, would you rather play Chelsea or Real Madrid?

Perhaps you need some agbo to get some perspective cheesy

I'd happily take any draw excluding Barca. . . No one wants to play them. Bayern Mushin would be perfect.

yousouph:
Arsenal vs Barca. 100% out in the next round. Arsenal vs Madrid. 40-60. Arsenal vs Bayern. 50-50. Arsenal vs Shalke. 60-40. With the new style of defending where clean sheet hardly comes by, it will be difficult to advance to later stage of the UCL
Arsenal Bayern can never be 50-50. . . Bayern have 45% chance at best.

I'd say vs Barcelona 10-90, vs Madrid 49-51, vs Bayern 60-40, vs Schalke 75-25.

Shocking defence + lackluster attack tonight. . . The entire team looked exhausted.

Wenger should never play Arshavin wide in a 4-4-2 again.

That said, i must commend Nasri for delivering yet again.

P.S. Must Gibbs get injured in every game? The boy should be displacing Clichy by now. . .

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by ritchboy(m): 8:37pm On Dec 08, 2010
how many of these cesc's goals and assists came from penalties and dodgy set-pieces.
I think Cesc scored just 4 penalties last season. Sneijder takes more set pieces than Cesc so what are you on about? Should i begin to mention how many of Sneijder's goals at the WC were deflections or cross-come-shot-come-melo-own-goal?

some of the passes he provided in south africa were reminiscent of diego maradona in his pomp in 86. it's sad that holland were bereft of outstanding poachers cos sneijder would have posted double digits in goal assists.
This is a big lie. . . I'm the biggest fan of Dutch football on earth and i watched every minute of every Holland game. Van Persie was absolutely starved of any decent service by the Snejder-led midfield.

fabregas play in arsenal - a team where he's a god and he's solely burdened with the task of taking penalties, freekicks, corner-kicks and sometimes goal-kicks. why won't he generate more stats than a sneijder who has more outstanding talents in his squad.
Another big lie. . . RVP is Arsenal's #1 dead-ball taker. Even when he isnt fit, Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin and even Walcott take set-pieces regularly. Sneijder has been the first choice set piece taker in EVERY single team he's played so this excuse holds no water.

eboue, walcott, bendtner and the likes would still pass the ball to cesc to score while etoo, milito, stankovic or balotelli believe they are good finishers themselves and they are not heavily reliant on sneijder.
First class bollocks. . . Eboue, Walcott & Bentdner dont even start for Arsenal. The people who do i.e Arshavin & Nasri are BETTER FINISHERS than Cesc. Get a clue.

in a nutshell, arsenal is built around cesc, it will be a travesty if he doesn't cop 25 goals + 50 assists per season. in sneijder's inter milan, those statistics will spread because there are capable talented players in that team.
More weak excuses. . . Who is Inter built around? Julio Cesar?

Were awards given for individual ball juggling abilities or for your ability to play well in your team?
YOUR ABILITY to play well in your team is not = your TEAM'S ABILITY to win the CL.

The best player in the team that get's relegated will probably be better than the worst player in the team that wins the league.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by ritchboy(m): 6:13pm On Dec 08, 2010
Sneijder led his team to the treble, Ronaldo led his team trophyless.
And what did i tell you about bringing "team" into "individual" matters?

Sneijder was best midfielder in UEFA competitions Ronaldo wasnt under consideration
Says who? Are you saying this because he won the UEFA award? Funny because you are the same one throwing tantrums about his omission from the bigger award(where two other midfielders made the cut). Do you see how you are confusing yourself?

BTW, Ronaldo is a forward(different category). And he scored a whoopin' 7 goals in 6 games in the same "UEFA Competitions". . .

In the biggest competition of the year, Sneijder scored 5 world cup goals, Ronaldo scored 1
In the main season under review, Ronaldo scored a staggering 33 goals in just 35 appearances. . .

Sneijder's performance in 2010 must be the most overrated of any footballer to date. . . As Ibime has already pointed out, he was just extremely fortunate.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by ritchboy(m): 5:29pm On Dec 08, 2010
How do you determine the best midfielder in Europe?
The one who played the best football. . . Its not actually difficult.

What exactly did Iniesta do that was better than Sneijder in the year under review?
What exactly did Sneijder do that was better than Ronaldo in the year under review?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by ritchboy(m): 4:54pm On Dec 08, 2010
Why did he win UEFA club midfielder of the year? You would say because he plays for Inter I would like to know why not Stankovic, Muntari or Cambiasso (They are all midfielders playing for Inter).
Precisely why i used the word "leads". That he was the best midfielder in Inter(European Champions) doesnt mean he was the best midfielder in Europe.

cesc  fabregas mentioned in the same sentence with wesley sneijder? what won't i hear on this forum?
Bebe in the same sentence with Junior Agogo! cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Messi, Xavi And Iniesta: Who Will Win The Ballon D'or? by ritchboy(m): 4:30pm On Dec 08, 2010
No one is still bold enough to answer the question,

Why is Sneijder not in top 3 especially in place of Iniesta
There is this general perception that a player who "leads" his teams to the CL/WC  title/final should automatically win the award or at least be in the top 3. . . I for one dont harbor such thoughts.

If we set aside the fact Sneijder played WC/CL final for a minute, was he any better than the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney, or Cesc? I dont think so.

Afterall, it is an individual award and should be based squarely on individual performances.

1025,

I really dont know what you are on about with all that talk about Platini, Ovrebo or Mourinho managing French NT. . .

did the players tell the panel that they acted mourinho's instructions?
Does a corpse tell the jury who shot it? Does a car tell a detective who stole it? Does a working girl tell her client where she wants it? cheesy

if u are a judge, the evidence before u in this case will be mourinho talking to his players? which coach in the world does not pass instructions to his players?
You dont have to catch a perpetrator red-handed. . . Anyone with an IQ equal to or greater than the length(in kMs) of his index finger should be able to decipher what transpired.

As the highest scoring player for the last GW, make i exercise my constitutional rights ask how market? cheesy

How do the calculate the form thing? Is it not by who scored the highest point?

Instead of giving Nasri my captain in the absence of Nani, they gave it to Carroll. I go swear for una
Form = average points over the last four games BEFORE the GW. Caroll scored more points than Nasri in that period.

It wouldnt make sense if they took the current GW into account.

You can always check the most in-form players on the transfer page.

Xavi's performances for club and country, be it in 2010, 2009, or 1960 shyte on anything Sneijder has ever done.

Sneijder's alleged brilliance in 2010 must be the greatest lie ever told.

The only question here is why they bother nominating players when we already know no one can match Messi?
