TV/MoviesRe: Who's The Most Successful Expendable? by ritux(op): 4:32pm On Aug 18, 2014
10. Jason Statham

Lifetime box-office gross: £454.7 million

Average box-office gross: £16.8 million

Biggest domestic hit: ‘The Italian Job’ (2003) - £63.6 million

He’s the new kid on the block, relatively speaking, so The Stath can take some comfort in the fact that most of the other action heroes on this list have at least an extra 20 years’ worth of box-office takings. Guy Ritchie, ‘The Transporter’ trilogy and ‘Crank’ movies helped make him a star, but it was his supporting role in the Hollywood remake of ‘The Italian Job’ that’s been his most successful movie in the US to date. If we run this list in a decade, expect Statham to be considered higher (and considerably more bruised).

TV/MoviesWho's The Most Successful Expendable? by ritux(op): 4:31pm On Aug 18, 2014
We imagine the air on the set of ‘The Expendables 3' was already thick with testosterone and man scent – and with actors like Stallone and Schwarzenegger on the cast, one-upmanship was surely the order of the day.

Rather than measure their biceps, however, we’ve decided to see which 10 Expendables cast members had the most clout where it really mattered: at the box-office. Let the financial flexing begin!

Car TalkRe: At What Age Did U Start Driving And How Many Days It Took You To Be Perfect . by ritux: 6:28am On Aug 15, 2014
I started driving codedly at the age of 16. My mom was aware but my dad did not know. One fateful day, he caught me driving in our street. The fear of him catching me driving got into me that I started fumbling. He was so upset that he got home very angry and started shouting on my mom and I. Later that evening, he could me aside and started advising me. He said he had no problem with me driving but since my hand wasn't strong, I should not drive on the street that I could easily hit someone or run into some buildings. That was the green light for me. At 17 I drove from Warri to Ekpoma, Edo state and from Warri to Port Harcourt. I did not even wait till 18 before I got my Licence.

When I was learning, I never used the L symbol lol

PoliticsRe: You Can’t Threaten Me, Jonathan Tells Northern Elders by ritux: 8:52pm On Aug 12, 2014
fun4: President Goodluck Jonathan has said no group can threaten him before he will perform his official duties.
He said it was wrong for any group to issue a threat asking him to rescue Chibok schoolgirls before he could get the support of any person or group for his 2015 presidential ambition.
President Jonathan, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant to the President, Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said he was already working on how to rescue the abducted girls.
Okupe, in the statement in Abuja on Tuesday, was responding to a threat by the members of the Northern Elders Forum on Monday, where they issued October deadline for the condition to be met.
The NEF position was made known through two of its members, Solomon Dalung and Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
It will be recalled that since three months ago when the more than 200 girls abducted by the members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect have been, eleven of their parents have died.
The northern elders were of the opinion the military can defeat the Boko Haram terrorists – if, indeed, the government wants to subdue the sect.
They said, “We are convinced that most of these conflicts are being engineered to weaken the North politically and economically by interests, which intend to exploit such weaknesses for electoral benefits.
“In the light of our firm conviction that the
insurgency and related security challenges pose threats to the 2015 elections and the survival of our nation, we strongly advise President Goodluck Jonathan to bring an end to the insurgency in all its manifestations and produce the Chibok girls before the end of October, 2014.
“The circumstances under which our fellow citizens in and around Gwoza in Borno State in particular live and die will not be tolerated by any people who have a government and a leader sworn to defend them, and they must be reversed immediately.”
Okupe, while faulting the northern elders, said
“President Jonathan does not require any threat or ultimatum from any group of persons to be alive to his responsibilities to the Nigerian People.”
He added that the issue of insurgency, especially those ideologically based on Islamic extremism was a global phenomenon, which he said required tact, military capability, serious de-radicalisation techniques and community based counter insurgency programmes to ensure success.
In these areas, he said the Federal Government was making progress.
He said the military and other security agencies
were improving on operational capabilities and efficiencies by acquiring more advanced weapons and technologies. Apart from this, he said the government had also
drafted more military personnel to the region to
strengthen its fighting power. Okupe added that the government was equally
taking advantage of the offers from international
military and intelligence allies to assist in identifying
key locations. He said, “We are working with our neighbours to
secure the borders and limit the movements of the
Boko Haram fighters, building on the agreements
reached at the recent summits in Paris and London. “We are deploying more resources to maximize
operational efficiency, acquire more advanced and
relevant weaponry and boost the general morale of
our combatants. This is why the Government
recently requested for an additional funding of $
1bn. “And the last piece in the puzzle is targeting the
domestic and international funding, and stopping
the money flows into the coffers of the terrorists.” On the suggestion that the government was
carrying out plans aimed at scheming to annihilate
any section of the country for political gain, Okupe
said such accusation was “preposterous, contrary
to common sense, divisive and essentially a
deliberate attempt to disseminate ‘hate mentality’ and cause mischief.” He said President Jonathan was voted for by an
overwhelming majority of Nigerians across the
board, and that he will never promote any policy
that is either divisive or inimical to the wellbeing of
any section of the polity.

You are right, the original movie was censored to remove some scenes that could heat of the present political situation of our country.
TV/MoviesRe: My Experience Of "Half Of A Yellow Sun" At The Cinema by ritux: 12:16pm On Aug 04, 2014
I was at the Cinema yesterday for the movie. I think it is okay. For the fact that the spent lots of money in producing this film, I will give them thumbs up. The only negative side for me was that I don't like the way it ended.

I like the guy Ugwu most especially when he was teaching and also when his master asked him not to call him Sir smiley

Please why was Ejiofor always called revolutionary lover? I still dont get.

7/10

Finally, for those people thinking about Nigeria on the brink or wanting Nigeria to break up, please go watch this movie. If we are going to have a peaceful break up which I doubt will ever happen, fine no problem. But if it is going to be in the form of fighting and war....hmmmnnn let's remain the way we are.

My parents told me stories about the civil war. Me, I don't want to experience it.

Kzinne: You chased him right?assuming the guy while he was been chased by you had an accident and he was killed. You could have been held for murder or manslaughter. Even the VIO or FRSC do not have a right to chase under the law. Whats wrong with you?. Repent and stop blabbing. At least its your mates that are giving out millions without asking for anything in return. Truth is you thought it was your right to chase cos you gave him that chicken change
Talking about chasing him, if he was involved in accident, that would have served him right in hell. Besides nobody would have known I was following or chasing him. If you had been reading my post on this thread, you will know I lost him because I was on the fast lane and he was using the service lane.

Yes, my mates are giving out millions. I pray God will uplift me to that status that I can give out a million naira to the needy that deserves it and not con stars. But for now, I will give out the hundreds and thousands that I can afford and be happy I assisted someone who really needs it in a genuine way.

Yes, 700bucks is a chicken change to me. Twice of it won't even buy my lunch at work but there are many pple out there looking for just 500 naira to buy 3 square meal.

And for your info, I did not follow him because of the 700 but because of his actions.
NYSCRe: My Experience With A Corper In Abuja by ritux(op): 8:10pm On Jul 30, 2014
Kzinne: Mr Man for your information you are the criminal here. First of all what right do you have to give him a chase? Did he rob you? He could have gone to the police and called you a criminal who was trying to kill him. Like someone said because you gave him how much does not make you his father. you could have gone to the police if you suspected any foul play. don't take the law into your hands. you're one of those who follow the crowd in dispersing jungle justice. His car may have broken down again. you never could have known. And if truly hes a criminal, you are nothing better than that man. you are also a criminal.
I don't even know what to tell you because you don't know what you are saying.

Did you read each page to see other people's encounter with this same guy?

Okay, his car broke down again...why was he flagging me to stop and all of a sudden, turned his face?

Why was he waving to me telling me to go when I was reversing? Why did he jump into his car and speed off when I was getting close to me?

Why am I even wasting my time replying you in the first place?

lekzzydo: you didn't chase him because of the money then why would you have collected your #700 if you found him fake.
Well, 700 naira is not a problem to me. If I was, I won't have parted with it. I know the number of faceless people I have assisted with money well over than that 700 naira. It would have been better I gave dat money to a beggar without hands or assist the NL crew that helps people in time of need than allow a con star scam me.
I would have collected the money because he must have duped other pple as well. As a Corp member, I know things could be tight sometimes. If he was will, I would have just advised him to desist from it.

Real or fake, if I had gotten him and asked for the money and refuses to give me, will I beat him? NO. Will I fight him? NO

I suspect him as somthing suspicious was craving but I was just like any other passer going for my normal activity, the police should be alert, I will do my best in doing that, I have some contacts. @ OP pls cud u drop ur contact so that I cud have some one as evidence of the incidence when the need arises.

Well I don't know if you have had the privilege to serve. One thing I know, cds days varies across all states.

Secondly, during my nysc days, we were told to always put on our nysc uniform when travelling. For me, I was always putting on my face cap and holding the khaki jacket when travelling while some of my fellow Corp members back then can't do without the complete uniform. Even to the extent that they must wear the jungle boot.

I did not chase him because of the money. If I had gotten him, I would have just insisted on seeing his ID card. If he had shown me a fake or expired ID, I would have asked for my 700 naira from the money he has collected from others.
