I doubt if you have ever put your leg in Akwa Ibom not to talk about knowing the road to the state or the geographical region where it exist. If Okorocha is a scam to Imolites, good for them. Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Experience Recruiting From Nairaland. Shocking. by ritux: 7:07pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
databoy247: Recently, i decided to conduct an interview and select some candidates who might be working with my organization. Currently we are trying to expand our operations and see how we can get new leads and probably close more deals. And from my survey, there are hundreds and possibly thousands of unemployed graduates here in Nairaland so i decided to concentrate on recruiting from here.
Now because of the nature of the job and also with a view in cutting cost around physical recruitment exercise, I decided to conduct the whole process online.
567 applications where received. I had to employ the services an outside consultant to help with the process which i also fully participated. Below are my shocking experiences with job seekers in this forum. I pray they read this and improve on themselves.
1. CV and cover letter. I remember explicitly asking for their CV and cover letter to be forwarded to a particular email address. A huge percentage of the applicants just sent an empty email with their CV as an attachment. Not even an application letter. In case you dont know, a very quick assessment can be done on you by just reading your application or cover letter. You don't just attach your CV and forward to an email address without a cover letter. It means you are not serious and you may NEVER get called for an interview.
2. Many do not even know what they are applying for. For an example you are asked to apply for an administrative position. The subject of your email should not be "My CV". This is so annoying and disgusting. Those that manage to write a cover letter do not even make reference to the job position they are applying for.
3. Lack of communication skills. Now it is not enough to have a degree, you must learn to communicate. I sent out a pre-interview questionnaire to selected candidates and i just couldn't believe what i saw. So many job seekers do not know how to communicate and speak simple and clear English language. If you want to stand a better chance in job haunting, learn how to communicate.
4. Words abbreviations This is a very big problem. Social medial is good but i think it's now becoming a major problem. With the use of BBM, whatsapp, Facebook chat, etc, Nigerians are now addicted to abbreviating words. You see things like 'u', 'k', 'comin', etc. And in case you dont know it, this can cause a very big problem for you. A lot of candidates get disqualified because of this. Learn to write properly when communicating with someone. Stop being in a hurry to pass along your message.
5. Checking of emails. As a job seeker, you should always check your emails. Recruiters dont just send text messages, they also send emails. I did not screen alot of people because they did not check their emails to see if any information has been passed to them. You must always be on the look out. Dont submit your applications and go relaxing.
These are some of the experiences i had recruiting here. Out of 567 applications, i could not pick up to 20 candidates as a result of all these. Sometimes, i begin to wonder if the problem is lack of jobs or laxity on the part of the applicants because i am so shocked and surprised that our graduates are this way.
http://thenigerian.com.ng/index.php/2015/09/17/my-experiences-recruiting-nigerian-job-seekers-5-things-i-discovered/ You are advising people on recruitment experience which is good. You are also advising people on abbreviation "u" "k" which is also good. However, how can you write "I" as "i"? It's a shame on your part. I have also conducted recruitment exercise and immediately I see "I" written as "i", in your email body, I don't even bother opening the person's CV. Obviously you won't pass my recruitment exercise. |
Sports › Confusion Over Missing All Africa Games Medals Table by ritux(op): 8:27am On Sep 17, 2015 |
By Sab Osuji In Brazzaville: Congo Brazzaville produced what one can call the eighth wonder of the world given the state of the art facilities for the on-going 11th All Africa Games (AAG). Perhaps they may have as well added the ninth wonders, knowingly or not. Otherwise, how can one explain a situation whereby nine days after the even started, even with some events concluded, no one knows who is atop the overall medals table. By September 14, we will have just five days to the close of events yet no one can say this or that country is leading in the medals table. That is the most baffling of the logistic deficiencies of the Congo Brazzaville 2015. Complete Sports crew who have been on the ground since September 1, clear four days before the games started, started combing all avenues since September 10 to get the essential document but has met with no positive answer. A visit to the offices of the Local Organising Committee in Kintele showed a lack of effective co-ordination between the LOC and COJA as regards results collation and compilation. “Please go to the COJA office at the swimming pool building,” an official of the LOC told completesportsnigeria.com. At the swimming pool office of COJA, we were reffered once again to the LOC at the twin building housing the media center and LOC. However, back at the LOC offices, they were found to be under lock and key. “You know today is Sunday so it is most unlikely that any one of the senior officials will be available,” completesportsnigeria.com was informed at the reception. “But I can advise you to go to the COJA Headquarters in Diata, perhaps you may get some luck.” Then we took a bus to Diata, an office very familiar with us having spent two days there on our arrival on September 1 undergoing the accreditation process. “That is also the problem we are facing. It is Sportfive who are in charge of that area. “But until now, we have not seen any medals table and many people are asking us the same question,” a COJA official told us but preferred not to be mentioned because he was not authorised to speak on such issues. We managed to get the mobile phone number of Sportfive top shot, Mr Marcon, who we spoke to on the phone but he referred us to another of his staff, Mr Damien. After several exhaustive telephone calls, we met face-to-face at his office inside the Kintele Stadium building. Mr Damien said his schedule was strictly on issues regarding compilation of athletics, basketball and some other sports’ results. He promised to try and see if he could be of any help and collected my e-mail address so he could forward to me whatever assistance he could. Almost 45 minutes later, he sent me an e-mail explaining he could not succeed in getting any official medals table. His mail reads: “Dear Sir, As I told you when we met, I’m not able to provide you with the medals table as requested. We only provide results for Athletics, Basketball, Football, Cycling, Swimming and Handball. You will find all the information we produce on our website. Here is the link: http://brazzaville2015.microplustiming.com. I hope this will help you. Best regards, Damien Muratel.” As at now, truth is, there is no official medals table yet at the 11th All Africa Games. Each country keeps record of how many medals they have won and whatever means they want to do it at the end of the remains to be seen. Dear Buhari,
How are you today? I know you are fine.
To be short, let me go straight to the point.
I will be so happy if Ameachi's name is not on the list.
I will be even more glad if he does not get any federal appointment.
Best regards,

jamanuka: I love hearing stuffs like the bolded...a gf who stuck with you when you had nothing but only potentials and you not ditching her for a "better" chick because you have made it & feels she is below ur status...Thumbs up to both of u Thanks for the compliment. I remember back then, my salary was just 90k. By the time task and pension is removed, it was 79 or 80k. And she stuck with me believing things will be good. I remember vividly how reluctant I was to go for the interview because of the distance but she encouraged me to go. Now I earn close to half a million monthly and we are both happy. She is God's gift to me. |
