I don’t know why I’m just seeing this. You are a lifesaver, thank you very much penury. I’ll send you an email if I need help. Cheers penurypredator: Can you try out Aqua and capital one. I got a phone contract 4 months after I got to the UK and i got Aqua credit card like 14 months after I’ve been here(1yr+). Got Aqua and capital one about the same time. Capital one gave me £200 limit and Aqua gave me £1200 but they’ve recently increased my limit to £2600. Up till now, clear score doesn’t even display anything as regards to my credit score but this credit karma app works for me. But the interest rate on my Aqua was like 53% and capital one is like 49% I’m not sure about the exact percentage because I pay my full balance by direct debit so I’m unbothered about the interest rate. Credit karma kept on displaying that my credit score is excellent and I never paid attention to it until this Amex card came up in the group. Also I think the app you use to check your credit score might be of help in some way because credit karma was helpful to me and last week, some weird app called “credability” was telling me my score was 214 out of 700 whereas credit karma was saying I had a 640 out of 700. Sorry it’s a long read but I was worried many months back as well so hopefully this helps in some way. |

It’s really annoying honestly. 3yrs is a lot of time to wait for a credit card. Emmyk: I'm also at this stage . Got in in January. Registered and make reports of my house rent on Credditladder, did a sim contract with 3 via direct debit, I am also on the electoral register, but no luck getting a credit card yet to build my credit history.
I got 60% approval rate for Lloyds credit card on moneysavingexpert.com, but at the end, I was told I didn't qualify for the card. |

For part time, you may need to do an unprofessional job. Google recruitment companies near you and physically go there. Some recruitment firms have ready jobs waiting to be taken. Good luck ShalewaT: I have been in Sunderland for a little over two weeks now and I have applied to over 40 jobs all to no avail. I don't know what to do anymore, I have done few interviews and it seems they are all looking for a full time work.
I have experience in sales and I've been applying for jobs as sales assistant, retail assistant etc.
I have a Certificate in IT(British Computer Society), I don't have any work experience in IT so I haven't been applying for jobs related to it.
What do I do? It's really getting to me. |

Hello. So before you withdraw from your Pension account, what will you tell them? That you’ve moved? Please give me the scope. Estroller: It is 25% and you should be able to if you use stanbic ibtc, don't know of other PFAs. |

I believe you should be able to do a regular FX transfer form your internet banking/token from your dollar account to the pounds account. You’ll just receive the pounds equivalent brine: What's the best way to move money from a GTBank dollar account to any bank account in UK? |

Thanks Erico, I plan to open an account in the Uk and lodge it in. erico2k2: Why though? You will now be faced with how to keep your cash, and you might spend more. If you must do, pls refrain from carrying £50 notes as they might be hard to spend. |

Hmmm. Thank you very much. The pounds I got, It’s kukuma with me. If I lodge it in my pounds account here, it may be hard to withdraw it when I need it. It’s dollars that is mostly available, I no wan hear stories. iboboyswag: Hmmmm. Fx transactions and fakes. Chai this your comment just remind of one transaction wey nearly put me for trouble in my days counting other peoples money in one of old generation banks.
The moral of the story is that there are no guarantees. Please do your due diligence before and after parting with your own money. And for no reason should you hand back pounds that have been given to you and confirmed as complete and authentic. |

Good morning All,
Please I’m currently sourcing for FX as I’m traveling to the UK in 2weeks.
Unofficially I’m trying to get pounds from a friend at UBA, and I’m hearing that they don’t have Poly. They only have 20 paper pounds.
Please what does this mean?
Is it a good deal?
Can I spend 20pounds in the Uk, if not, what is the least denomination I should get?
Will appreciate a response. Thank you |

Thanks for your response Frank. FrankFrenzy: PTA is not sold on a one way ticket. The only exception here is for students who are on fully funded government scholarship and this of course will be backed by adequate documentation. |
