Religion / Embracing Vulnerability: A Journey Of Healing And Renewal by RiyaGoddess(f): 5:26pm On Aug 09, 2023
In the realm of hospitals and healing, I embarked on a profound journey that would forever alter my perspective. As I walked into the hospital for my visit, little did I know that this day would mark a pivotal moment in my quest for emotional well-being.

After the doctor's routine check, I found myself seated across from my therapist. This was our third session, a milestone reached after a span of four weeks. Looking back, I remembered the storm of my first session, a tempest of arguments and defiance from my end. I had stood resolute, rejecting his insights despite sensing the core of truth beneath his words. Stubborn and strong-willed, I had yet to embrace his guidance, clinging to my own beliefs.

Yet, life has a way of guiding us, even when we resist. A new day dawned, facilitated by my dear friend Ruth, a guardian angel who had taken upon herself the role of my hospital appointment reminder. With her support, I navigated toward my second session. The room echoed with laughter, a blend of confusion, and release. An internal struggle to hold back tears met the compulsion to burst into laughter. At that moment, I chose strength, masking my emotions behind bouts of hearty laughter.

Today, as I entered my third session, an unexpected calm settled within me. The turbulence of my earlier encounters had evolved into a serene, solemn atmosphere. A remarkable 85% of my therapist's words resonated as undeniable truths. A quiet chuckle escaped me as I surrendered to the realization. Acceptance had finally taken root, softening the fortress of resistance I had constructed.

We delved deep into my life, dissecting past victories and failures, enduring challenges, relentless fears, and unwavering faith. Conversations flowed about careers, aspirations, dreams, and the shadows of disappointment. The tapestry of my experiences unfolded, revealing threads of my quest for identity, struggles to fit in, the sting of rejection, and the weight of external judgments.

Amid the revelations, I confessed my struggle with dwindling motivation for once-beloved endeavors. In recent weeks I had been an onslaught of challenges – health, mental strain, spiritual turmoil, physical exhaustion, and financial stress. Amid this turmoil, the desire for human connection surfaced. Yet, the fear of judgment loomed large, shackling my need to share my burdens.

My confidant, my anchor, was notably absent – a true friend and brother had become a ghost. I grappled with the ache of abandonment, the realization that my only steadfast support had seemingly disappeared. Left with no choice, I turned to an old friend, someone I hadn't spoken to in years. With courage, I dialed Ruth's number. "Hey babe, I am not okay and I need to talk to someone," I confessed. Without hesitation, she responded, "Drop your address and I will be right there." Within an hour, she stood at my door, dispelling my fears of reprimand. Her love remained unwavering, bridging the years of separation.

As I reflect on my journey, I recognize the potency of vulnerability. For years, writing had been my refuge from pain, but at this moment, I needed more. I yearned for someone to witness my vulnerability, to see beyond the words. I craved release from the burdens that had taken residence in my mind, stifling my potential. With hindsight, I'm grateful for that pivotal call, the catalyst for my healing.

To those traversing a similar path, I implore you to embrace your truth. It's okay to admit when passion wanes when interests fade. This admission is not a sign of defeat but a plea for renewal. Lean on others, unburden your soul, and shatter the chains of silent suffering. I stand as a testament to the strength found in sharing your struggles, in saying, "I am not okay."

In parting, I offer these verses as solace:

1. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (AMP) – Strength is perfected in vulnerability.

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you. My lovingkindness and mercy are more than enough, always available regardless of the situation; for My power is being perfected and completed and shows itself most effectively in your weakness.”

2. Nehemiah 8:10 (ERV) – Find joy amid adversity.

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy the good food and sweet drinks. Give some food and drinks to those who didn’t prepare any food. Today is a special day for our Lord. Don’t be sad, because the joy of the Lord will make you strong.”

3. Isaiah 40:28-29 (AMP) – Seek strength in the eternal.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become tired or grow weary; There is no searching of His understanding. He gives strength to the weary, And to him who has no might He increases power.

4. Psalms 46:5 (NIV) – Trust in your unbreakable core.

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at the break of the day.

5. Philippians 4:13 (ERV) – Draw strength from Christ's embrace.

Christ is the one who gives me the strength I need to do whatever I must do.

If these words have stirred something within you, consider subscribing using the link on my signature for more inspiration. Share this tale with a friend who might find solace in these words, your kindness might spark their healing. Remember, by unraveling your struggles, you pave the way for a stronger, more resilient version of yourself.

Dear God, show me where I am inviting temptation into my life. I don't want to make bad decisions that are giving the enemy a foothold in my life. When You show me the way of escape, I will take it. Temptation shall not rule over me. Greater are You who are in me. I rebuke behaviours and attitudes that are leading me to be tempted. I am free to make healthy choices in my life, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Religion / The Temptation Of Jesus: Finding Strength To Overcome Daily Temptations by RiyaGoddess(f): 1:37pm On Aug 09, 2023
In Matthew Chapter 4, verses 1 to 11, we encounter the profound story of Jesus facing temptation in the wilderness. This powerful account provides valuable insights into how we can confront and overcome the daily temptations that besiege our lives. Let us delve into the narrative and extract timeless lessons that can empower us in our battles against temptation, drawing strength from biblical references.

Verse 1 begins by recounting that Jesus, having just been baptized, was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. This sets the stage for a pivotal moment in Jesus' journey on Earth. We must recognize that even the Son of God faced temptation, reinforcing the reality that none of us are exempt from its allure.

In verse 2, we learn that Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights, enduring physical weakness and vulnerability. The devil seized this opportunity to exploit Jesus' human condition and appeal to His hunger, saying, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." The devil's tactic is to entice us into satisfying our immediate desires without regard for God's plan or timing.

Jesus' response in verse 4, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God," reveals His unwavering commitment to prioritize His spiritual nourishment above material needs. This teaches us that to overcome daily temptations, we must remain rooted in the Word of God. Regularly reading and meditating on the Scriptures enables us to discern truth from deception.

The devil's second attempt is in verse 5, where he takes Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple and challenges Him to jump, quoting Scripture to justify his proposal. Here, we learn that the devil can manipulate and twist God's Word to suit his agenda. To combat such deception, we must have a deep understanding of the Scriptures and test any teachings against their true meaning.

Jesus responds in verse 7, "Again, it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’’ By remaining steadfast in God's truth, we safeguard ourselves from falling into the snares of false doctrines and teachings that may lead us astray.

In verse 8, the devil goes even further, taking Jesus to a high mountain and showing Him all the kingdoms of the world. He tempts Jesus with the offer of worldly power and influence if He would bow down and worship him. This illustrates that temptations can often appeal to our desire for power, control, and success. To resist these temptations, we must remember that our allegiance belongs to God alone. In verse 10, Jesus firmly declares, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’’

Having failed in his attempts to lure Jesus, the devil leaves, and angels come to minister to Him. This offers a crucial insight into God's faithfulness in providing strength and support in our times of trial. It reminds us that when we face temptations, we are not alone. We can turn to God in prayer, seeking His guidance and assistance.

The account of Jesus' temptation teaches us essential principles to overcome our daily struggles with temptation:

1. Seek Strength in the Word: Regularly read and meditate on the Scriptures to gain spiritual nourishment and discern God's will.

2. Guard Against Deception:
Develop a deep understanding of the Scriptures to recognize and refute any distortions or misuse of God's Word.

3. Prioritize God's Will: Choose obedience to God's commands above immediate gratification, knowing that His plan is perfect.

4. Worship God Alone:
Resist the allure of power, possessions, and success, and acknowledge God as the sole object of worship and service.

Now, let us explore additional biblical references to further guide us in overcoming daily temptations:

1. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV) - "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide a way of escape that you may be able to endure." This verse assures us that God is aware of our struggles and will provide a way out of temptation.

2. James 1:12 (NIV) - "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." Staying steadfast in the face of temptation leads to spiritual growth and blessings.

3. 1 Peter 5:8 (ESV) - "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." This verse warns us to remain vigilant against the devil's schemes.

4. Psalm 119:11 (NIV) - "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Memorizing and internalizing God's Word can act as a shield against temptation.

5. Galatians 5:16 (ESV) - "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." Rely on the Holy Spirit's guidance to navigate through temptations.

In conclusion, the temptation of Jesus in Matthew Chapter 4 offers us invaluable insights into how we can confront and overcome daily temptations. By staying rooted in the Word of God, guarding against deception, prioritizing His will, and worshiping Him alone, we can find the strength to resist the allure of temptation. Additionally, we are encouraged by other biblical references to persevere, seek God's help, and rely on the Holy Spirit's guidance. May we draw wisdom and inspiration from Jesus' example and the Word of God as we navigate the challenging terrain of daily temptations, knowing that victory is within reach with faith, diligence, and reliance on God's grace.

From afar, I've admired his wisdom, his devotion, and his unwavering commitment to spreading the word of God. Pastor Taiwo Odukoya's legacy is one of inspiration, hope, and profound impact. His teachings touched hearts, his compassion reached souls, and his influence was immeasurable.

As I reflect on the life you lived, I celebrate the times you graced this earth with your presence. Your dedication to spreading love, hope, and the message of Christ has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, your journey here may have ended, but your legacy lives on. You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, and you have kept the faith. Rest in the arms of the One you tirelessly served.

Romance / Re: Send This Message To 15 People And God Will Surprise you.... Or Else You Die? by RiyaGoddess(f): 11:10am On Mar 13, 2023
This particular type of message scared the shit out of me when I was a teenager in high school. That time it wasn't via WhatsApp but a small white pamphlet, in it was written "This is God bla bla bla...send it to 15 people in 3 days bla bla bla and if you don't bad luck, sickness, death etc"
So I had no 15 people to give the pamphlet. So I went home from school scared I was going to die. Mehn it wasn't funny o. As I counted days, I started having night mares. Every midnight I would wake up screaming from sleep and I couldn't tell anyone what was happening or happened. Second day the same, then the third day I woke from a night mare screaming and this time my mom became worried and started questioning me. I started shouting I don't want to die I don't want to die !

My mom asked lots of questions and even told a spirit was disturbing me then I told her I was given a paper from God and he said if I share it with 15 persons blessings will come to me but if I don't I will die in 3 days. Immediately I was done, my siblings burst out laughing. They began to reassure me that I won't die and I was told they got the paper too and they were still alive... Ever since then as a teen I stopped collecting pamphlet ooo.

I heard the voice recording making so much noise thrice and I'm still looking for the part where it's was said that Yorubas & the kings will be chased out of Lagos. Maybe I don't understand English anyways.

Personally as a full blooded Yoruba lady ( call me woke, omo ale, whatever, that's your headache ) all I am seeking is a sane Lagos where there will be no more Agberos or touts / thugs harassment.

I am still unsure of who to vote for this coming Saturday but definitely I am NOT going to vote for MC Oluomo and his boys scattered all around lagos under the disguise of Sanwo Olu NEVER !!!
If you have ever been a victim of Agberos
/ Touts monetary harassment and disgrace in Lagos, you will definitely want them kicked out of the state and system. As a business lady, I am a victim and I want them all out ! If it doesn't happen in this four years, I know one day one day, monkey go go market and e no go return, one day a new government will emerge and will sweep these touts out of the street of Lagos !

I am not campaigning for any party or in support of anybody, I am all out looking for that one person that will do this job (what I stated above), that person that can promise a sane Lagos, that is who I will give my vote and support...

Ire ooo

P.S I don't read mentions neither do I return to read threads, so don't bother mentioning me !
