innovative:
I must greatly commend the brains behind this thread. You guy(s) did a wonderful work. Every morning before opening my official mail, I ensure I check this thread.
I had my SRD (hr/fin) in Lag first week of October, I think October 3 and the wait has been so boring. In my group I have only heard of a lady that has received negative feedback and all others are yet to get anything.
Nonetheless, you guys should keep the good work up, many would have had hypertension if not for this thread. I will try to be contributing to the thread anytime I can as well. It's only my schedule in office that gives me little or no time to do that but I will try to adjust my schedule these days. This thread must not die!
Hey innovative, i'm guessing you're a fin/hr hopeful right
anyway welcome onboard
i feel you on the long and endless wait,
it's been a long long time since october srd,
would be great if you chip in once or twice

2good:
Hey guys where did everybody go to?
Anybody with current info for SITP 2 guys that are yet to be contacted, should please let us know. I'm tired of waiting without update of what is happening in shell
i thought someone mentioned something about a waiting list for sitp,
thought that explained why some people have not heard anything yet.
Anyway 2good i know how you feel, just keep your head up and keep having faith.
I think you should also try to get in touch with HR so you can know exactly whats happening.

Cheers

This shell waiting game is getting boring, really quite boring, how many of us can they keep in suspense for how long, I am freeing shell, House. By september I'll be in UK getting a masters then Shell will see me when i get my masters degree right,
Congrats angela, what are you planning to do your masters in??
well september is a long wait, who knows you might get your offer letter before then

deinowei:
@ Robbie Lex
Still having problems with your connections. I thot i read somewhere on the thread that calls had gone out for hr/fin guys. I think cutesy i also one of you, how did her's go.
yup my connection is really wacked today.
yeah cutesey had srd interview, so we are all more or less on the same level now, waiting for medical invitations.
we have not heard from her since then though, but i'm sure it went well.
she's a sharp girl.

deinowei:
@Robbie Lex
What makes you think am a she. I know say your brain don dey go say e get one chick way dey trip for me.

deinowei:
@ Robbie Lex
Have you guys(hr/fin) received offer letter from shell and when are you resuming?
Offer letter,
my dear we have not even been called for medicals,
the way it is after the initial srd in october, a bunch of people got negative feedback about a week later,
three people i am aware of in my group, and the number varies in other groups.

the rest of us without feedback have been pretty much in the dark!
waiting,
and ofcourse being hopeful
funny enough for me the wait has been an experience,
i have completely enjoyed the "narialand" aspect of it though
meeting people on this thread who will oneday become my colleagues,

resumption, well we heard shell wants to start off in april i dont know how true or if that applies to us
but hey i guess we can only just wait and see, and pray of course!

aniffy4eva:
@ everyone

just thought to say hi,

@ Robbie lex

i aint a shell hopeful tho' but u seem to be doing a good job. Moreover, i see that you post once in a while on our thread (Which way, Nlng) and i thought to do the same wink
thanks aniffy4eva, yeah i actually really like the nlng thread, when i wrote the shell test and i was scared i would definately flunk out i stumbled on the nlng thread, i posted there and joined my faith with the house, a little while later i got a mail i had passed, guess it was then i sorta realised the power of a praying "house" and when tosat talked about a shell thread i felt it would be a swell idea, and here we are,

i read your blog too, and it's really nice, i'll make sure i post a comment there the next time i visit.

tosat:
Hi people!!!

@ cutesy, how did your SRD go?

@Robbielex, where una dey yesterday huh

One love people!
i see you forgot i had exam yesterday, well it went well, come online later lets chat.

Thats true cutsey how did your srd go, you haven't been around for a while! anyway let us know how far ok.

RANBAXY:
This house must not fall. to all shell hopeful there is still time for u. ONE HOUR IS TOO MUCH FOR GOD TO DO IT FOR You, EVEN IF THE PROCESS IS ENDING SOON , GOD HAVE NOT FINISH WITH You YET.
Amen oh, this house will not fall, well i do hope the process ends soon, the endless wait has been crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy, lol but God dey!

RANBAXY:
Robbielex, u have touch so many life, put smiles on peoples face,i recall days in the past when i get confuse, this thread was a remendy 2 me after reading, it always brings my hope back.God can't forget u , even if that is the only good thing u have ever done in life. the same apply to all shell hopeful, keep your faith alive.
Geez thanks Ranbaxy, God will never forget any of us, he can't forget his children! You guys have been a source of encouragement too, and i have made great friends here, it'll be so cool when we all start working together ( and i am being prophetic here, so all shell hopefuls shout AMEN)

deinowei:
@ House
I was invited for Halliburton test in PH, i was wondering what to do, since i already made to shell.
hMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

KDB:
hmmm thats a really really hard one?? let me see, well, you cld forget about shell at its no big deal to you, then start from scratch with halliburton, lol, and ohh before i forget, remember do that early so someone else cld take your slot,
grin grin grin grin grin grin

jus kiddin man, ive also got the shell offer, but did a recruitment test yesterday for zenith bank , u know jus to keep me brain running, also got the invitation to the halliburton test at ph, n i'll be there also simply for d same reason, u should too man, at least u were invited n its free, cheesy cheesy
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Hmmm if i had my shell offer letter i wonder what i'll be doing not reading, probarbly shopping, lol

actually i don't think there's anything wrong in doing the haliburton test,
there's nothing as wonderful as having offers and then choosing, and remembering you had offers and you made a choice, does something good to you ego! so you guys should write it if you want to, it's up to you

KDB:
don't know but been hearing some funny stuff of late, their actually some peeps who've done their medicals like two - three weeks now and havnt heard anythin from shell, as you would imagine their pretty worked up, any of y'all in the same situation?? n if so why d'you think its like that?
yeah theres someone who posted something like that a while back and honestly the guy was clueless as to what the problem could be

quote author=KDB link=topic=91130.msg1986297#msg1986297 date=1203707932]

abba, but you've already got one na, wink wink wink

like i said, there's nothing like having options and then making a choice,
but hey you know now shell is number one for me

hi, applying to exxon mobil isnt a hard process atall, they usually advertise in the newspapers when they have vacancies then you get to send your cv's via the internet, right now i don't think there are any vacancies but you could just submitt an unsolicited application to the site and keep your eyes open for the next time there's a vacancy. i can't remember the website now but just google exxonmobil nigeria and you should find the site. all the best.

jidadex:
I got an email inviting me for the trainee accountant interview on the 12th of February, 2007.

The interview is scheduled for next week Tuesday 26th February.

Please does anyone have an idea of likely interview questions for Accountant position.

Please send useful replies to jidadex@yahoo.com
i don't think anyone is going to send replies to yourbox jidadex, you should do a little work yourself too, lol

Anyway theres another exxon mobil thread where some tips on the interview where posted there you can read that, all the best then.

well folks we are into the last week of shells 2 weeks grace to contact the rest of the SITP 1 hopefuls. me lol I am tired of waiting,

please shell HR let us know waz up and contact us Monday, Tuesday or at most Friday this week, those of u who have got HR's nos , should call them oo.
I know the feeling jare, atleasy you sitp folks have had some form of feedback, we hr/fin folks are just hanging jare,

but what can we do, but wait and pray of course, everything is in God's hands and what is meant to be will be, i tend to think that way these days because it helps me worry less about things, if not i for don die with hypertension on top waiting for shell, lol

I can just imagine the tension you must be going through especially now that people have gotten offer letters and even rejection letters, but just keep having faith and believing in God, at this point that's the best thing to do.

Take it easy angela and whatever happens just know that God indeed knows best.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Vacancies For Fresh Graduates by RobbieLex: 10:04pm On Feb 17, 2008
This is the most hilarious thread i have ever read on this forum, lol
i think someone would change the name of the thread to " i am interested"

the funniest part is even after i have made this post tons of people will still post their email addy's and say i am interested please mail me, this is just too funny

interested in what i ask?

you all should just learn to be patient enough to read, that might just be the key that defines you getting a job or not,

anyway thanks though you all made my day, i just can't stop laughing infact i have a new email address called iaminterested@mailme.com grin grin grin grin

To the first poster i really think what you intended here was nice but my advise is that you just start a new thread and this time don't call it vacancies for fresh graduates, a lot of people are just to desperate to read!

i just cant wait to see who the first person will be to post another email address right after my comments, my God deliver us!!!

There are rumours that Shell recruitment process is flawed in terms of ethnicity as they regularly pick more candidates from the west than any other area in Nigeria. What is your take on this?

In your SITP group, what is the predominant ethnic group?

Sorry to go offtopic, but I hear that among other reasons (including debt owed by the govt and niger delta crisis causing a drop in production level) this was one of the reasons behind the full scale retrenchment exercise that was to take place. Apparently the exercise has been cancelled due to external pressure from the President, NNPC and House of Reps.
I wouldn't say shell's process is flawed because of ethnicity, i just believe the recruitment process is only a reflection of the country we live in.

Ethnicity is a very important part of Nigeria, and this division shows its head from the day you write common entrance, sit for jamb examinations to get into university, receive scholarships in university, and continues straight through to the process of getting a job. There is always one form of quota system rooted firmly on ethnicity, while this may not seem very healthy it's a necessary evil to achieving a form of balance in the country and it will keep on being an important part of the country for some time to come.

It would be almost impossible for a multinational (especially one that has its operations  tied down to the vital part of Nigeria's economy- oil )operating in Nigeria who will not take the peculiarities of the Nigerian environment into consideration.

Rather than say flawed, I'd say it is aware of the Nigerian factor and really for any organisation to be successful it has to incorporate the environment into its overall corprate strategy, which of course involves its human resource strategy. Call it unfair but yeah people from the Niger delta will be given some sort of preference, either in the number of people they hire, or less stringent requirements,

so i wouldn't be shocked or surprised if texxazpete says they have more western people in his programme

somze:

I hear that among other reasons this was one of the reasons behind the full scale retrenchment exercise that was to take place.
I disagree with you on this, i doubt if ongoing restructuring has anything to do with wanting to hire more people from the west,  from what i understood it was purely efficiency driven, shell is trying to streamline jobs through its ONE Shell project, which of course is an off shoot of the vandalising of their vessels, Niger delta crises, debts owed to suppliers and a series of other things

But of course people within the walls of shell will have a clearer and firmer grasp on the situation, but even then people's opinions generally differ on the subject,

guess we just have to wait and see how the story unfolds.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Exxon's Interview Structure by RobbieLex: 11:30am On Feb 17, 2008
Alfa prime i take it you're some sort of human resources expert right or something, i never heard of BEI before, so thats what that sort of interview is called yeah!!!!!!!

I don't know about the briefcase part, i mean do women have to carry a briefcasehuh? and a white shirt, yeah i guess white has this purity thing stamped all over it, but i think a sharp looking tm or a h and c under a black suit would do it,  (or any other really nice looking shirt if you aren;t much of a tm fan), generally i'll say wear something that makes you feel on top of your game and not tooo self concious, AKA something comfortable!

Anyway all the best pisky, with all this info you should be blasting your interview innithuh? I'll still ask around from people i know who are scheduled for next week and i'll let you know.

Like alfaprime said preparing is your key to success sooooooooo prepare as much as you can, oh and pray tooo!

coolesmile:
which of the exxon mobil tests did u write?
was it the one of last month for accountant & procurement?
Exxon has not started calling for that o!!!!!
Coolsmile sorry to burst your bubble but Mobil has started calling for interviews, i know a couple of people already scheduled for interviews I don't know for sure if they have finished calling everybody but so far people have been invited.

. so just take it all in good fate jare

pisky:
@alfaprime

cool cool cool abi na fight? its exxonmobil and the interview date i was given is the 27th of feb. so please if you have any info, u may do well to assist.

@coolesmile

i think its most objective and fair if we pundit over issues we have facts about. if you wish to know just ask politely and you'll get an answer. i wrote the graduate trainee (accountant) test in uyo on the 19th of january and on the 12th of feb, i got an invitation via email. why would i seek what i do not need? does this satisfy your curious mind? i only need the invaluable help of true nairalanders who are known for not hoarding useful tips like this one i seek.
Pisky you have a way with the Big words don't you,
anyway don't take it the wrong way, alot of nairalanders have been looking forward to hearing from exxon mobil so you coming to say you have the interview and all that brings in some tension, lol

Anyway about the interview, i have a friend who did the accounting interview sometime ago, i'm not sure if its the same structure as what you'll be having this time, but from what he told me it was the same basic interview, only that it was a panel interview.(i think there where like 6 interviewers)

So just prepare yourself on basic interview set questions, tell me about yourself, weaknessses, all those typical interview questions.

Be smartly dressed, confident, and smile always.I'll let you know if i hear anything else before your interview.

All the best then.
