meennn!! thanks a lot. i really need all that encouragement. i guess i am now an illegal member of this thread, since i am no longer hopeful grin grin grin
anyway, i will still stick around if u allow me, at least i still have friends here and i could still be of some help to other hopefuls.
someone asked what level i got to? i did the SRD, i was told that i did very well in the thechnical test, that my problem was in the CAR assessment, so all you hopefuls should be very careful in your CAR assessment.
i am still with u.
Question, huh? theres no request for permission here, you are one of us, shell or no shell.
To think of all the numerous contributions, the words, the information and dedication you showed to this thread,

honestly you are what made people want to check what was going on in here, everyone always wanted to read what you had posted, i just stood at the side and posted stuff to make sure the thread didnt end up at the bottom of the page,

Great to have you around though, you have shown something alot of us should work hard to have, a positive attitude and the right spirit,

You are indeed a great man Onavae, and i'm glad that i met you!!!

somze:
Nice meeting you . . .

I have to commend you on this thread and your efforts so far. You've built a community here, you've given hope, and enabled information sharing. I know your reward is closer than you think, keep the faith.

I couldn't have done it without you all.
And i say a big Amen to that

Thanks man!

The Case studies are the same. You are not allowed to do this but you group can share parts of the 25 page document and each person concentrates on a section and explains it to the group
unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!!!! angry

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Exxon Interview by RobbieLex: 9:12pm On Feb 13, 2008

cheers
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Help With Tips About Exxonmobil Test On 15th Feb by RobbieLex: 9:36pm On Feb 12, 2008
OOOPS sorry i just realised my description of the test was a bit vague

okay for the quantitative section , it's basically data analysis type questions. bar charts, line graphs, pie charts,

the verbal reasoning, you have short passages and you have questions where you have to answer true false or uncertain.

the spatial reasoning are just all those weird annoying looking shapes.

log on to www.shl.com for a sample of what the test will look like.

once again all the best
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Help With Tips About Exxonmobil Test On 15th Feb by RobbieLex: 9:32pm On Feb 12, 2008
basic shl format,
40 questions verbal reasoning
40 questions quantitative analysis
40 questions spatial reasoning

you have about 20 minutes for each section, the test isnt tooo difficult its just the time that is limited so work on your speed alot.

All the best in your test.

PS if you wrote the previous exxon mobil tests recently, then don't write this one. HR informed me that writing two tests within the same period = disqualification.

Cheers
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Exxon Interview by RobbieLex: 9:23pm On Feb 12, 2008
rayo2002 congrats on your interview invitation. grin grin grin grin grin

anyway everyone else has bombarded you with questions so let me fall in line and also ask my question,
did you sit for the experienced or graduate trainee accounting test??

I;m getting the vibes that experienced pple are being called before fresh graduates, i might be wrong though undecided

Please clarify

Cheers

To God still be the Glory. we will keep hoping and managing the small one wey de hand.
Awwwwww sorry things turned out like this, but like you said to God still be the glory, that's really the truth that with or without shell or whatever earthly ambitions we have God is Glory,

Take heart men, i know this isnt easy, the wait and now this disappointment, but like everyone has said God has something better in store for you so dont lose hope, he'll still make a way for you.

Thanks for all the information and all the contributions you ever made on this thread, in your own little way you touched peoples lives and i think thats important,

All the best in all your future endeavours.

All i can say is just keep praying and waiting, some people have speculated that there is a waiting list so just keep the faith up,

Anniwil:
Well for KDB and others congrats, like i said u guys shld see us as your brodas when n u arrive here o!!(us in SITP/2).I really enjoy this thread, the hopes expressed e.t.c.But i've got some news, was at a shell meeting in which Mutiu Sunmonu, the current MD,SPDC and Ann Pickaard,The Vice President,Exploration and Production(West Africa) addressed us,the fact is that Shell is being owed about 2 billion dollars for the JV patnership by the Federal Government and it's affecting their operations (and their paying contract staff),also the MD made it clear that the PROJECT "one shell" is under TEMPORARY SUSPENSION as the FG has asked for further clarifications from the shell mgt.The overall effect is that those who are scheduled to be retired will not yet be retired until this whole thing is sorted out.Well for all the shell hopefuls who are coming into SITP/1,there's no cause for alarm as you are STAFF ON TRAINING with some big pay package.I imagine u guys buying UR IV-TECs,JEEPS AND SLEEK CARS AT MOST FOUR MONTHS INTO THE TRAINING,but like i earlier said see us as your brother.o!!So much for now,i really buy the idea of getting names and numbers of members who'll be joining us here in April.i'll start with my e-mail addy xtracoded@yahoo.com for security reasons. .at least celebrating over a bottle of beer will suffice.Cheers y'all.back to my moduluminous modules(imagine i get exam 2mrw,i never even read)
So i guess this means there will be no retrenching,
thanks for the info, you've been really great providing us with inside info,
nice one man

HR/FIN hopefuls i heaar they have started contacting those who had one on one interviews in january, my heart goes out to you all, cutesey and co, all the best and let us know how it went.

Cheers

Jobs/VacanciesRe: I'm Totally Fed Up With Job Hunting by RobbieLex: 9:54pm On Feb 04, 2008
pewekac:
i don't mean to be harsh or anything but for you to have written over 30 apt test and still be without a job then your head truly no dey house. job opportunities are in your hands, it's left for you to grab em. if you studied like your life depended on it there's no reason why you shouldn't pass simple GMAT. it's all about practice! again if you keep messing up after 30 interviews than there definitely is something wrong in your personality. start rereading the interview handbooks. abeg help yourself. good luck!
I beg to differ i dont think there is anything wrong with Georgee, and i do not think you should be so rude to him either, you can tell him to prepare and work hard without sounding so harsh - yes you were very harsh and i do not think that is necessary.

If we were all so put together i doubt if there would be any job seekers forum in nairaland, we are here because we are looking for something, and honestly he probabrly just voiced out the same feelings lots of people have here.

So just take it easy on him ok.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: I'm Totally Fed Up With Job Hunting by RobbieLex: 9:19pm On Feb 04, 2008
Georgee, i seriously feel your pain, searching for a job can be draining, writing tests reading, travelling up and down getting disappointments, I'm sure 90% of nairalanders will tell you that they have felt the exact same way, Nigeriaás labour market is a tough place to be thats just the painful truth and if you are going to make it you just have to endure for a while and get tougher.

You mentioned you had passed a couple of tests and did not make it at the interview stage, first let me say congrats, yeah you ddidn'tget the jobs but hey you passed the tests which i must tell you a lot of people never do. Now let me ask you, how prepared where you for the interviews? how much prior research did you do before going for these interviews? how much of what the buyer was selling where you offering - by buyer i mean your potential employerhuh

I know you're going through a lot of stress and yes i also advise that you pray and hold on to God as i am a strong believer in the God factor, but at the same time you need to work hard and if you have been doing that work even harder, the market is competitive and if you want to finally land a job you need to make your self very very marketable, from your dressing to your composure to your words,

Try remembering your performance at these interviews, give yourself a personal appraisal, i thank God for the person who started the thread 'PREPARING FOR AN INTERVIEW CHECK HERE" a lot of people actually ignore that thread but i must tel you theres a whole depth of knowledge there,

The truth is some people will never have to really work so hard to get a job, some people can just waltz into an interview room unprepared and dazzle the interviewees but most people have to work for it, whatever you do George don't give up!!!! take all these past encounters as a training ground for something else, God probably has something better in store for you, so rather than sitting on your back complaining - (which i don't blame you for considering what you have been through) get up and move,

God will open the door for you, but when he does you have to be on your feet and very ready to walk into that room.

Cheers - make unilag proud smiley
