Jokes EtcLies Your Parents Told You While Growing Up. by Rocktation(op): 12:23am On Jun 19, 2012
We love our parents and always will respect them. However, they spin a yarn as good as the rest of us. These are some of the fibs they fed me while growing up. You should share yours too.

1. They all came first in class. (So who came second?)
2. All the gala sellers are dead. (Who sells to them every other time that they buy?)
3. Money cannot buy happiness. (Well, it doesn't make you unhappy either).
4. All parents did not fornicate before marriage. (I hear)
5. Children jump out through the stomach at parturition. shocked
6. You'll fall pregnant if a boy does so much as holds your hand. ( I suppose don born a whole country by now)
7. "Just tell me the truth, you won't get in trouble". (Yeah right!)

Share yours.
LiteratureYour Most Interesting Poetry Recitations. by Rocktation(op):
Hey guys, do you still remember your favorite poetry recitations while growing up? Share with us if you do, however long, short, or funny it may be. Don't be shy. Here is one of mine;

AN ELEGY ON THE DEATH OF A MAD DOG.
Good people all of every sort,
Give ear unto my song;
And if you find it wondrous short,
It cannot hold you long.

In Islington, there was a man,
Of whom the world might say;
That still a godly race he ran,
Whene'er he went to pray.

A kind and gentle heart he had,
To comfort friends and foes,
The n.aked everyday he clad,
When he puts on his clothes.

And in that town a dog was found,
As many dogs there be,
Both mongrel, puppy, whelp and hound,
And curs of low degree.

This dog and man at first were friends;
But when a pique began,
The dog, to gain some private ends,
Went mad and bit the man.

Around from all the neighbouring streets,
The wondering neighbours ran,
And swore the dog has lost its wits,
To bite so good a man.

The wound it seemed both sore and sad,
To every christian eye;
And while they swore the dog was mad,
They swore the man would die.

But soon, a wonder came to light,
That showed the rogues they lied;
The man recovered of the bite,

The dog it was that died! shocked

I suspect that I'll be back with more, but c'mon let's see yours too..

Black women spend almost all their time in the real world. We don't do lists. We make perfect whatever it is that we want to. Our men included.

As no agreement was made for a refund, he should cut his losses and move the hell on. No experience is lost in life. He gained the lesson at least.

njanka: why are we crazy about blackberry that is outdated??
Everything is outdated (even the Iphone), but people can at least, still talk about what they liked or like. The topic was for blackberry app you like, not blackberry app that you like that you must be using right now.

RomanceRe: How Do I Make A Good Impression To My Igbo In-laws To Be. by Rocktation(mod): 2:21pm On Jun 18, 2012
I would say be yourself, but I don't know if yourself is good enough. Just do the basics; help out around the house, whichever way you can. Nigerians like industrious wives, but I'm not saying that you should kill yourself though. Be modest in your dressing. Don't go showing cleavages and all. Since he loves his mum and siblings so much, focus on them. Engage them in discussions. No unproductive arguements will be necessary (cause I know how lawyers can be sometimes). Just be relaxed and open with them and it won't be long before they love you.

Be careful gurlie. I hope it's not a trend that you fall all over, for the availables that you see. Who's to say that you won't fall in love again with the second guy that you dated for a year, if you meet him again?
RomanceRe: What Kind Of A Husband Will He Be? by Rocktation(mod): 1:03pm On Jun 18, 2012
I'm worried as well. What? Are they so scared that she might leave him, that they have to trap her with marriage, even though he's still looking to get a balance, monetary wise? My! It's different if things begin to go rough in marriage, but before? Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk. How much help is his momma willing to render, anyway? Are the packages that come after the observance and in the marriage proper, included in her budget as well? Kids and all?

Everyone needs help I know, for smoother transitions from one stage in life to the other. And it'd be wonderful if his mum can really help oust any form of discontinuity. But this is taking help too far and has made it turn adverse, and I soo do not support it.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Trapped!! by Rocktation(f):
Just let her mull over things and decide for herself. Who knows? She may really not want the love of her life to be tormented for all time.

I don't think that it'd be such a bad idea, if you gave back a little of that life that she gave you, though. This is when she needs it the most and by God, you know it. A cheat will always cheat, no matter who they're with. So you might as well be doing a little good while/if you're at it.

Blackteeth: Does not bothering to treat someone nicely equate to mistreating the person? Think again.
Let me indulge you. Why don't you tell me what it is that you're doing then? I mean, it's either black or white. If you cannot be bothered to be nice to the persons that you deal with, it only means that you're not being nice to them, right? So in this context, if you're not being nice to them when of cos you're dealing with them, what is it exactly are you doing to them? Cos you sure as hell must be doing something to them. Think oga, and let me know.
