Less than 30 percent of Nigerian adults have bank accounts, in fact the correct figure is around 26 percent. It won't be practical to implement an account based system when most of the intended targets cannot access it

Go the Nairaland German student page and see fellow Nigerians complaining about how they have to attend online classes while awaiting their visa interview dates (not a guarantee they'd be issued the visa). The dates are one year into the program. Effectively, when they are issued the dates, they only have six months to do on-site lectures in Germany. These are undeniable facts.

That is a major reason people opt for the UK instead of Germany even though the latter has free tuition.

You might be right about the student's thing but I came on a work Visa at the behest of the German government themselves. Only top politicians, diplomats and people with very serious health issues get to be interviewed at the embassy in Abuja. Everyone else must go to the consulate in Lagos and hence the extended waiting time. Henceforth I will not entertain any questions on this matter except for those who are seriously interested in relocating here. Goodbye

There are 3 stages in the process
1. Application
2. Interview
and lastly
3. Approval or denial

From 1 to 3 took like 2 weeks (I can't really remember the exact number of days)
From 2 to 3 took 48 hours
I was interviewed on a Thursday Afternoon and got the visa on Monday the following week

Appointment wait time for study visa category b to Germany is presently 16 months.

I did mine like 4 years ago and the time between my application and approval wasn't more than 2 weeks, but there's a reason for that.
