Which President says only fools will not understand the benefits of subsidy? Was I the only person that heard thishuh??
Jonathan doesnt inspire confidence with his words, he has to let his actions speak for him then, if his mouth cant.
When he was reminded that majority of Nigerians arent under any union, he said he had met with other groups, why didnt the reporter ask him to mention those groups??
And he said the youths are responding positively, To whathuh I need the text of that interview. I felt embarrassed for him, and the reporters were always trying to cut him short. He didnt have clear and concise answers to the questions. But I guess that has been said already.
So, whats the way forward? who has the solution to our economic woeshuh

PoliticsAkala Gives Out Gifts To U.i Students by Roliks09(op): 3:30pm On Apr 23, 2011
Gov. Adebayo Alao Akala yesterday gave out some gifts to the students of the University of Ibadan through his campaign organization. 10 42" inch LG plasma T.V, 10 branded Hitv and DSTV decoders, 10 UPS, and 10 generators were received yesterday and distributed among halls of residence. Some halls however couldnt get the gift items due to inadequacy as there are a total of 12 halls in the University of Ibadan. While speaking, one of the representatives of the Gov. said they were just gift items coming from his excellency at about this time and that students should take it as such. Hall representatives receiving the gift items looked really excited, but only time will tell whether these gifts would tip the balance in Akala's favour as UI students voted massively for ACN in the senatorial and Fed. House of Rep elections on the 9th of April, even when a former Uite, Demola Omotosho was vying for a seat at the Fed house of Rep.
IslamRe: Nigerian 'islamic' Songs' Videos by Roliks09(op): 11:23am On Aug 31, 2010
Davidylan, its not bout the husbands. Its the portrayal of Islam. Anybody can decide to dress nude, or dance naked,I dont care much. But to do such or anythn similar to such under the aegis of Islam should be frowned at. Its not Islamic and shudnt be encouraged.
IslamNigerian 'islamic' Songs' Videos by Roliks09(op): 6:02am On Aug 31, 2010
I have observed, with dismay the videos of so- called Islamic songs. I watch helplessly as core islamic values are thrown to the winds. The unfortunate thing is that these videos now serve as what people (non-muslims esp) see as ideal islam.
My paramount grudge is that of using women in the videos. From my little understanding, women arent supposed to be dancing in public. So why do we have local videos with women dancing and no body seems to be saying anything.
2ndly, these women dont cover well. Subhannallah! I seriously pray that it wont get to the stage where they wouldnt even be covering at all. Ladies in those songs now expose their ear and necks, allowing the hijab to show their jewelry. What then are they covering? Its sad that no south-western scholar has come out (to the best of my knowledge) to condemn this. What can be done?

And what is the aim of this thread? Dont you guys ever get tired? I wonder how you all do it, calling yourselves names and throwing insults like candies. Cant you all just get it that nobody is going to change except there be guidance. Its the muslim brothers I least expect to be instigating these kinds of discussion. But alas! how mistaken I am. Why dont we all just wait till judgement day and see who's right or not?
BTW, @post, God is a God of vengeance. Toba, God will WATCH while sinners, hypocrites, e.t.c rot in hell. On that both religions agree. So, you see that this isnt a Jesus or Muhammed 'thing' but a God 'thing'.

RomanceRe: My Fiance Says Am Fat. by Roliks09: 9:10pm On Aug 21, 2010
Well, for starters, you shouldnt even be with anybody who finds you embarrasing. It lowers one's self-esteem and who needs that? Successful people are those who have people who believe in them thoroughly behind them. A weight issue may seem trivial, but fat people know it isnt. Waking up daily beside someone who finds you repulsive would be depressing. And those urging you to sit down and talk to your spouse? What are you talking about? Any caring human being would know that there are some things that dont work with ultimatums. He should understand that the fact that you'd eveb go on a diet without his prompting means you also know that this is something you should deal with. The normal thing to do is to encourage you, not give ultimatums.

Personnally, ultimatums dont work with me. Even if I know I can make it within the time given, I wouldnt. Let who ever do his worst.

You shouldnt spend your life trying to fit a man's image of an ideal woman. What matters is how YOU want to look and that you are WORKING towards that. Dont let anyman make you feel less of a human being because you're fat. Being fat is not a disease. Its obesity that is. Except if you are, then , lipsrsealed
PoliticsRe: Nuhu Ribadu Becomes Acn Presidential Flag Bearer. by Roliks09: 8:27pm On Aug 20, 2010
Its understandable now why we'll probably never have credible leaders in the country. The methods these politial parties use in selecting their flagbearers, is ridiculous to say the least. They calculate based on how many votes he'll get from a particular zone, or select someone to placate the northerners or some other silly criteria.

The big question is whats his plan for Nigeria? What his vision? Does he have target dates to achieve his goals? How does he want to achieve them? Until I see a leader who has these, I say Nigeria will remain doomed. Its the presidency we're talking about here! Not some landlord association chairman.

Someone here said he's ready to vote for Ribadu. An I ask why?

Whats his plan for the country?

Its sad we dont vote based on how 'solid' the aspirants plans are. Do they even have any plans at all? Do they think Presidency is something they can just dream about and think 'God' will make them win? Then Chris Okotie should have been president two times over.

I feel very sad about the kinds of leaders we'll keep producing in years to come. I weep inside over the visionless leaders we have. O

So, the question we should be asking is, 'What plans does he have for Nigeria?' and 'How good are those plans'

Lets get these answered before going to the ballot, whether it Ribadu of Babangida or Buhari or ME!!!

By the way, what the diifference anyway? Same ole set of thieving thieves( except me now)
CultureRe: Kneel Down And Feed Your Husband? by Roliks09: 9:31pm On Aug 18, 2010
Kneel down? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Culture? Which kain?

I think marriage ceremonies have become sort of entertainment for some people, such that they want to wait and watch ( like its some silly Nollywood movie) how the woman feeds her husband, who is first ( and this is veeeeeimeeery ridiculous) to cut the cake ( it even sounds silly). Its even more annoying at those engagement parties where the 'mama gage' and 'baba gage' embarras couples with their lewd remarks and 'ja-je ja-je nonsense'!!!

Is that the sign that I am well brough up? Hell no!! I can kneel down a million times and be as rude 2 million times. It shows how much emphasis we put on appearances and 'follow-follow' cos I see no sense in it. Who started this nonsense anyway.

Dont get me wrong, I can kneel for my husband. It doesnt make me less of a human being. Its not like I'm serving punishment or sth. But to make a nollywood film out of it ? No thanks.
Christianity EtcRe: Lagos Orders Churches To Remove Loud Speakers by Roliks09: 1:38pm On Aug 18, 2010
Seems the grouse peeps here have against mosques is the 5am thingy. Once upon a tym though, mosques never had sound amplifiers. Except the central mosque for jumat, due to large congregation. Once upon a time, muslims never had 'sunday service'. Until Nasfat came and felt that sunday was a perfect day! and Gbam! Others joined. I think muslims have kinda entered a competition of 'lets see whose noise is loudest' with xtians. Cos I rily dnt see the sense in using amplifiers for a handful congregation. However, we should be fair and know that the churches make more noise, for LONGER DURATIONS than mosques. Its just that people r more tolerant of the churches' loud praise and worship, that the mosques' equally loud Adhan. And this shouldnt be so. Noise is Noise.

So sad. Her actions were bad. The MSS however isnt paralyzing school activities. Things are back to normal now. The demands to ban all DISTURBING preachings and services EXCEPT in DESIGNATED areas is good. Because, perhaps the only place that isnt used as worship centers is the toilet. Even during exams, those fellowships are merciless. They make noise for as long as 2hrs. Nobody should quote the muslim adhan cos that last barely 5 mins. All the same , MSS should thread carefully. No violence needed.

I hope the babe is happy now. Cos I wonder what her aim was. Perhaps thats the question we should be asking - what the hell was her objective? Was that the best way to pass across her message? It wasnt about spreading the gospel. It was a pure attempt at provocation. She dressed like a muslim. Which true preacher would disguise lyk a sect you believe is destined for hell? Trying to deceive us that she's a muslim? She didnt preach before or during sermon. She preached when Salat was on, capitalizing on the silence. She knew prayers would continue, no matter what. That was mischief making at its highest. She's never going to be the same again and may never hold any public post as this incidence would always be cited to make a case for her biaseness. For a law student in trainin, I'm dissapointed. Whoever her advisors were, didnt do her any good at all. Hope she has truly learnt. A letter of apology wouldnt be out of place.

And who is hiding it from us?
Christianity EtcRe: Muslim Gay Epidemic They Hide From You by Roliks09: 7:50pm On Aug 15, 2010
Homosexualism isnt as a result of lack of women, or maybe the fact that women are 'hidden'. For if it is, then there wouldnt be a single gay in the United States or Europe, where women are open for all. Still, we wouldnt have bi-sexuals, who have sex with both men and women. It has nothing at all to do with unavailability of women.
If that was the case, the cure would simply be to give the gay person a babe or a wife or whatever. But we all know, that is not the case.
In the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, a zillion years ago, where it wasnt reported that women were hidden, homosexualism and lesbianism prevailed. So, no one should use the 'growing conversatism' as an excuse for his CHOSEN deviant sexual tendencies.

This thread should definately be a strong contender for thread of the year. For, it makes us laugh so hard. Yet, it reflects truly the state of the nation. It is only hunger-stricken, deprived and hopeless, highly illetrate people who will see signposts such as these and worship there. What has religion turned to? In modern Nigeria, Karl Max was right. The system is so terrible that anybody proclaiming to be a messenger of the true living God, opens a church or rather a business enterprise. We rarely worship cos we want to serve God but because we want some imaginative spirit to 'die, die, die, die' or we want 'igbega lesekese, owo lesekese, omo lesekese' or jehova to sharp sharp give us money jor. Its sad. Until the people are empowered and secured in all context, another 'guided rocket holy ghost on fire with seven thunder global ministries enterprises ' is sure to open with full congregation.

FamilyRe: Is The Fight For Equality Ruining Marriages by Roliks09: 1:07pm On Aug 08, 2010
I'm actually tired of hearing that for the sake of the children, the woman should take shit. Why, cant the husband, for the children's sake decide not to throw shit at his wife? Men feel its alright if they behave badly but wrong if a woman retaliates. Why do I have to work so hard to clean a mess that should never have been, if only the man had the sense to?
Its so unfair that women who are at the receiving end are urged to bear with the man but the men are never scolded for their actions or inactions.
If you treat your wife well, you wont even have to demand submission, you'll get it on a platter of gold cos then, it'll be the most natural thing for her to do.
FamilyRe: Is The Fight For Equality Ruining Marriages by Roliks09: 11:00pm On Aug 07, 2010
Women want to be heard, reasoned with and treated with respect. I want my opinions to be considered and not dumped beacause I am a woman. I want to be consulted when decisions are to be made, and not just ignored. If all this is demanding for equality, then let it be. Whatever is going to be done, I want it ti be done basedon commonsense and reason, not because some man said thats the way its going to be done. I dont want to usurp my man's role or anything, just asking to be treated with respect. I wonder what the definition of 'be submissiove' is. Is it to keep quiet when being trated unfairly? Or to smile when talke to harshly? Do I nod to stupid suggestions because I am a woman? Or do I salute and take a bow and rush to do a silly task just because my man said so?

Some men just like to affirm the fact that they are the head, probably because they feed on that feeling; without which they'll be lifeless. I think this equality issue will be unnecesary if our men could open their eyes, ears and hearts to what a woman is feeling or has to say. For some, women are second class citizens.

I understand that there may be clear-cut roles for each party, but who says a little assistance is out of the way? If we can use my salary to pay the rent, pay the children's fees, buy them clothes, who says you cant help out in this house? Its only men who arent men enough will feel that their 'manhood' is being degraded or demeaned by the mere suggestion of helping out in this house. I

I sure dont want to be a man( someone here said that women are tying to be men, while men arent doing likewise). But I want respect. And that is what most Nigerian men lack, respect the personality, respect the views, respect the feeling, be calm and listen to suggestions, women arent a bunch of numb skull, for God's sake!!
