Truthfully, once there is a crack in marriage anything is bound to happen. I know a man who maltreated his first wife, she left after giving birth to a female child. He never brought her back, the mother solely took care of the child, when she wanted to get married her insisted to know her biological father, after that the father didn't even know when other rites and wedding was done.
So my take is children tend to follow whoever too k care of them,.
