CAREER CUSHIONING

This is defined as the process of creating job security in the face of a recession. The unstable situation in the job market created by the unsustainable hiring habits created by the pandemic, paired with the raging inflation, lead to many sudden layoffs across multiple industries.

It is the practice of creating a backup plan for potential unemployment.

This can be done through :

1. Getting a side hustle
2. Networking with professionals within and outside your industry.
3: Doing skill audit
4. Staying current with employment trends
5. Acquiring additional skills.

Have a Winning Wednesday

I used to take my entire paycheck and stuff it all into my pocket (singular)

Back then, there were no ATMs or mobile banking, so going to the bank was the only way to get money.

It was a simpler time when everything was done in cash.

Cheques and wire transfers were reserved for the big boys and girls - I was not in that category.

Because my salary was so small, it only made sense to make one monthly trip to the bank.

At first, it worked well, and my pocket (still singular) was my ATM.

It is a good thing no one tried to rob me since they would have gotten everything.

It made sense…until one day, it didn't.

My salary could no longer fit in my pockets (plural).

If you're just starting out, know we've all been there.

It can be challenging to manage your small pay, especially when you're new to the workforce.

But I'm here to tell you that you'll be okay.

Just keep learning and growing!

Exit of an Employee is not supposed to cause Enemies between Employers and Employees.

I have come to believe and make a resolve that people will come and people will go but life will go on and we will keep a cordial relationship.

Employers should learn to deal with this phenomenon of Employees Exit. A hard working employees suddenly becomes a devil because they are moving on to another organisation, during resignation period exiting employees are treated like outcast especially if the employer made a counter offer and the employee declined, someone whose job used to make so much sense has turned to become useless because they are moving on with their lives.

Change is the only constant thing in life, if employees get to the point where they have to make bigger career moves and that move requires exit, all you need to do is support them and wish them well.

Stop the Exiting Employee Discrimination, it is wrong.

E be like say you never jam high fliers with a bad or toxic attitude grin. There's no benefit in keeping them on for long, sooner or later they cost you more, in terms of human capital, because their nasty attitude causes other employees to leave.

When good employees leave and you constantly have to hire their replacement, because you don't want to cut lose the high flier, no be you go wound las las? The few times I have seen high fliers with a bad attitude, retired from an organisation (as in, sacked or told to resign) there was a collective sigh of relief, a sense of hope and peace that our shared workspace would be better without them.

Yes..I used kkonnect (fiberone) in 2018 when I was in Nigeria. They are truly limited with their unlimited plan for 25k or so. Installation came to about 50k.
The problem like I said earlier is the coverage. Kkonnect did not fully cover Lagos alone as at that time (I don't know about now) not to talk of the whole of Nigeria. A major challenge is this power issue. If they decide to use diesel or even solar in all their sub stations..they might never break even with the current pricing they are on. Once power is settled. Companies would find it easier to expand. This is just the truth.
Solar system is what most use these days

Most Nigerian girls have turned social media apps designed for connecting with new people and staying in touch friends, family and acquaintances to a hub for digital prostitution.

When Zuckerberg designed Facebook or when Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger built Instagram from a co-working space in San Francisco, when Sean Rad invented Tinder or when the trio of Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown created Snapchat, they probably didn’t envisage that their apps would become platforms for prostitutes to advertise their goods and services in Nigeria.

People who return to Nigeria for holidays are often shocked when they discover that they can’t get dates or meet decent people to start friendships with on Nigerian Tinder. A huge percentage of the girls you’d see there are for “strictly hookups or massage with happy ending” as some boldly indicate on their bio’s. It’s really embarrassing!

According to them, when you meet a girl/guy on Tinder overseas, it’s never for sex, it can lead to sex but you’re very sure you matched with a person with a job/profession who genuinely wants to meet new people, make new friends or go out on dates. There are different apps/websites strictly for meeting with prostitutes.

According to research by Britannica, sex has always been one of the few pleasures of the poor and oppressed. Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world. Do the math! While sex is part of normal human behavior, prostitution on the other hand is frowned on morally and legally in Nigeria and has now evolved from the road side and brothels to social media apps.
An unofficial survey revealed that the Transportation Network Industry in Lagos and Abuja (Uber and Taxify) generates 80% of it revenue from 8pm to 6am (with numerous instances where these females offer sex acts to drivers as payment for their ride fares #sexforrides).

It is left up to you to determine whether you support their lifestyle and professional choices or not. What should be a cause for concern is that the money these girls make from digital prostitution is tax-free. Our government is broke! Looking for loans here and there while we have millions of young females raking in an average of 200,000 Naira on a monthly basis tax free (using Lagos State and Abuja as our reference points) with an average income of 20,000 Naira per night.

I always young girls, when you enter the university, join a good fellowship gathering, be prayerful and God will provide.

Face the hard part now. The more devastating the storm, the sooner it will be over. I once knew a lady who came from a poor family. Very intelligent, diligent and God-fearing, she trusted God and never participated in all these 'I didn't have a choice' immoralities.

She graduated with good grades and by God's grace, was employed in a company. She told me her starting salary was about N6000 per day (180,000) per month.

During her school years she survived by using her brain. She tutored high school students, she had a choice.

Today, she has a marriage proposal from a decent but wealthy man. It's not about the government but the way you govern your life.

Life "cheat codes" everyone should know:

1. When you think something nice about someone, let them know right then.

2. Never think twice about investments in yourself. They pay dividends for a long time.

3. Put your alarm clock in the bathroom. If you have to get up to turn it off, you won't snooze.

4. If you want to get better at anything, do it for 30 minutes per day for 30 straight days.

5. Hire a writer to document your parents' childhood stories. Print it with old photos.

6. Write down three things you’re grateful for before bed. Read them out loud when you wake up.

7. Go for a 15 minute walk every morning. It has a positive impact on your mood, sleep, metabolism, digestion, and more.

8. Always pursue the path that has the larger luck surface area.

9. Tell your partner one thing you appreciate about them every single day.

10. Do a few things that you'll be excited to tell your kids about someday. Create stories worth telling.

11. Spend 15 minutes every evening preparing for your first focus tasks the next morning.

12. If someone tries to put down your accomplishments, cut them out of your life.

13. Take yourself out for a meal alone once each month. It’s insanely freeing—a meditative experience.

14. When you're starting your career, swallow the frog for your boss to get ahead. Observe your boss, figure out what they hate doing, and take it off their plate. Easy win.

15. When someone is going through hell, just say "I’m with you." Advice is minimally impactful. The notion that someone is with you is 10x more powerful.

16. If someone regularly brags about their wealth, income, or success, just assume the reality is about 50% of what they say.

17. Reread your favorite books annually. You may read thousands of books in your life, but there will only be a few that deeply change you.

18. Never delay difficult conversations. If you're nervous, do it on a walk, it makes it much easier.

19. Do the "old fashioned" things well. Look people in the eye, have a firm handshake, and always stay true to your word.

20. If you're about to say yes to something on the assumption that you'll have more time for it in the future, say no instead.

21. Give people a second chance, but never a third.

22. If you want something—and have put in the work to deserve it—ask for it.

23. Never take advice from people on the sidelines.

24. Learn one dance move that you can reliably bust out when you inevitably get pushed into the center of a dance circle at a wedding or event.

25. Be bored for at least 15 minutes per day. Boredom unlocks creativity.

26. Invest in personalized stationery and use it regularly.

27. Spend more time doing things you never regret.

28. Make decisions that your 80-year-old self and 10-year-old self would be proud of.

29. Do one hard thing every day when you could do it the easy way.

30. Be interested in everyone you encounter.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: If You Are Looking For A Job, Let Help You by Rubyjade: 2:25pm On Mar 21, 2023
Candidate rejections should always be delivered via email, never over the phone or zoom.

Candidates deserve the ability to process in private, on their own terms. They can't change the decision anyway, and so they may not want the feedback. It should be up to them to opt into it, if and when they are ready to hear it.

While a live conversation may feel like "the right thing to do", what you are really doing is a) forcing them to process tough information with an audience and b) compelling them to ask for feedback they may not want or need in that moment, or at all.

It may make you feel better, but it's probably not best for them. Instead:
- Write a kind, thoughtful clear email communicating the decision
- Offer to jump on the phone to discuss feedback, if they'd like.
- If they opt in, schedule time ASAP. Make sure the feedback is ASK -- actionable, specific, kind.

This organisation is bribe infested. QUOUTE ME ANYWHERE

the place has become only for the bourgeois and the high-class citizens for their children and wards to work there not for the overall interest of the Nigerian masses.

According to him, he attended many interviews with the financial agency but his understanding of what is going on in the organization is whose son or daughter are the applicants.

"I understand that if you are not a Son or a Daughter of a Governor, Minister, Senator, SGF, or even a high-ranking member of the National Assembly that place is not meant for you.

" If you're not coming from the office of Mr. President or vice president, then ready to pay close to ten million for you to secure a job there as a graduate.

"I'm so sorry for what has become of the Nation that we the younger generation are not proud of," Adudu said

Mr. Gabriel also alleged that the Executive Chairman has in recent time under his watch hundreds of people were given employment who are most from Niger state.

He observed that the employment principles of federal character were not duly followed which has undermined the Unity and cohesion of Nigeria the country's leadership is fighting tooth and nail to protect.

"Today we found ourselves in a country where there are only two citizens, the rich and the poor, the bourgeois and the masses, first-class citizens and second class, the high class, and the low class, the powerful and the powerless.

" Few Others are above the law while the rest are victims of the manipulative Justice, the commoners are the so-called Nigerians while the elites and their families are the real Nigerians who ought to work in places like FIRS, CBN, NNPC, NIDC,

"I was reliably gathered recently 500 people were employed secretly through an interview conducted in South West Nigeria where only candidates from who is who in the country were appointed to work with the FIRS, same place they will tell you no vacant post. I'm tired of what is happening in my country etc." He cried

Adudu urged the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the employment and expose those racketeering employment in the country, especially in those agencies considered juicy places.

He said investigating what happening with FIRS through the ministry of the Directorate of employment will give President Buhari a good perspective of what is happening in the country.

"I'm sure President Buhari is not aware of all these abnormalities going on in many sectors of our country if he knows he will not allow this.

"Let the FIRS Chairman and the federal character commission be sanctioned over commercializing employment at the expense of unemployed Nigerians who are from less privileged backgrounds.

'Mr. President Sir, Nigerians believe you when you said you are for all, and you are for nobody. Why taking the exercise to Lagos and the world is accusing Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC Presidential flag bearer as the one adding salt to the nation's injury of unemployment.

" We are anxiously waiting for the President's intervention to stop and cancel the employment that only favored some specific class of individuals. Our parents are also taxpayers and as such we are bonafide Nigerians that deserve to work anywhere without knowing anybody." Adudu stated

He accused Nami of selfish treatment to none Niger indigenes and those from a less privileged background.

Gabriel appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene on his behalf and many Nigerians from other states that were interviewed and being kept in view for many months while secret employment is going on.
