Dear New Hires,

Stop coming into organizations with Messiah Attitude.
Most times when you hire candidates they come in like Saviour to deliver the organization from the Jaws of Thor.

When you get into an organization your first point of call is onboard, orientation, and build interactions with the people you will be working with so that you can better understand their process, systems, and people.

There would be processes and projects that the organization has in place that is perfect for their business model, don't just come in because you are hired to tell everyone they are doing it wrong that is why they hired you.

It is a very wrong mindset, and this is why some of you start having enemies from day one of entry, we are not saying don't do your job, but what job will you do really if you don't understand the process, product, and People?

Change that mindset

If we can’t trust them to do the right thing, who can we trust?

Typically, your accountant or tax professional is a member of a professional body that values ethics and integrity.

However, sometimes you come across these professionals that go against these values.

Let me share a story.

Samantha was a woman of high moral character who always believed in doing what was right in her personal and business dealings.

When tax season arrived, a friend recommended an accountant, and Samantha felt confident her taxes were in good hands.

However, Samantha was taken aback when she received her completed tax returns. Her expenses had been inflated to reduce her tax liability, and she knew the figures were inaccurate.

Samantha confronted the accountant, who dismissed her concerns. He advised her to report more expenses for a lower tax liability, saying it was “normal”.

Samantha prioritized ethics and transparency over fraud, even if it meant paying higher taxes.

She found an accountant who shared her values and was committed to ethical practices and transparency. Together, they reported accurate returns.

This unusual story emphasises the need for ethical behaviour and transparency in financial reporting.

Unusual because one expects it to be the other way around.

Not saying the business owners are unethical, but they sometimes don’t know better.

The professionals should be trusted to do the right things.

Agreed?

Life and It’s many Twists.

As a Consultant, many people think you have the magic wand to get them jobs.

I have since some funny irony of situations.

Some people really need the jobs but when you give them the opportunity, they are not ready to give it their all.

Some begin to tell you that the jobs are too tedious, tiring and affect them mentally.

Not all jobseekers are willing to do what it takes to keep the jobs within legality.

Most prefer not to leave their comfort zone and are fixated on certain expectation.

Some cannot go out of their way to go above and beyond and just want instant gratification.

Some prefer to do little job but earn higher pay like people that have more than 5 years experience.

If horses could fly, most of us would work in multi-nationals and other known bigger corporations.

Some get to places of work with less than 10 years of existence and they begin to compare these organizations with bigger brands where their friends work.

Some who claim to desperately need a job do not know why they want to work in that field.

Those people that they introduce to you from your churches or mosques as vulnerable and needy-people to assist usually end up not wanting to work harder than the others.

Most just want the sympathy associated with their situation and not necessarily the opportunity to change the situation.

When you do invite some people that have deliberately reached out to you for job assistance to come for interview, they will “ghost” you and never offer apologies until you call them to hear stories of they don’t have transport money.

To some that show up, being well-groomed is a scarce commodity. They come ill-prepared, out of place clothings and feel “woke”, that everything has to be casually done.

When you also send out invite for interviews, candidates would confirm attendance and on d-day, only less than 50% will turn up and then you hear excuses.

Some may start the job and quit less than 60 days and inform you that, “the stress is too much, i can’t be waking up by 5:30am everyday, the salary is too low for me, the job isn’t for me and the most ridiculous of all, “ the boss is too stingy”.

Hmm! unmet expectation and desire imbalance.

Edited for adaptation.
Jobs/VacanciesSo You "Mistakenly" Transfered N200k Into A Wrong Account And The Bank by Rubyjade(op): 8:54pm On Mar 29, 2023
So you "mistakenly" transfered N200k into a wrong account and the bank said you should bring a court's order before you can get the money back......you are there busy shouting...up and down!

"This is nonsense" etc.....

Brother Olufemi, have you forgotten that there is something called "duty of confidentiality" in the banking Sector ?!

Now, you are telling the Lawyer to help you "write" to the court, so that you can get your money.....

By the way, what you are to get is a Court Reversal Order, and it is a full fledge court proceedings, save that you do not have to give evidence in court (trial) only your lawyer will do all the talking...

But on the flip side, brother Olufemi, out of N200k how much do you think you will have to pay a lawyer to help you out in court?! This one that you are assuming that it is a "letter to the court"

📍Lesson:

Before you send money to anyone, pls always reconfirm the number and the name of the beneficiary.......to avoid stories that touch, such as that of our Brother Olufemi.

In the event you make a mistake and transfer money to a wrong account number (i.e. errorneous transfer), please bear at the back of your mind that you will have to go through a court proceedings to be able to retrieve the said sum.

Let this be at the back of your mind each time you want to make a bank transfer before you click on the "send" button..

Trust your day went well...!

Chacha✌️

Very often, I get people share resumes of friends or family members looking for jobs.

It takes a 15second review of the resume to know whether to proceed or not. Sometimes, the resume is so bad, it takes only a glance.

Whether you like it or not, your resume does say a lot about you and most organisations will form an opinion based on how your resume is presented.

In the same vein, having a great CV is still not enough.

It may get you a spot at the interview but it definitely will not secure the job for you.

So while you may engage our professional services to write a great CV, you also need to ensure that you have the required skills, competencies and experience for the job and also be able to effectively communicate that at the interview.

Making job and career moves requires a bit of everything, so, if you are not certain you have it all covered, get a career coach.

How To Write a Counteroffer to an Employer/Company.

👉🏽Are you dissatisfied with the offer letter sent to you on your new job?

👉🏽Are you quite uncertain about how to go about it?

You will need to make what we call a “ Counter Offer”. This is a proposal that is sent by a candidate to an employer that while he/she may be considering accepting the offer, some terms need to be adjusted.

There are 3 ways you can do this viz a viz :

1. Telephone Conversation.
2. One-on-One / Physically.
3. Sending letter or through an email.

For example, you may decide you want a better salary and benefit packages than that being offered as you have computed your worth, experience and skills or that you want a paid vacation allowance, which is missing in the original offer.

When candidates send counteroffer, it is the prerogative of the organization to accept or decline it entirely or tweak some aspect bearing in mind that there is usually a budget for most roles.

Some may also outrightly recall the initial Offer especially if one has agreed to all the terms before the offer was sent out.

Tips for writing a Counteroffer.

👉🏽 Be Concise and Clear: Avoid ambiguity. Articulate this by making reference to what you expect because of your experience and knowledge.

👉🏽 Be professional in your communication by being respectful, polite and firm.

👉🏽Avoid being emotional by whipping up sentiments.

👉🏽You can also let them know if there is another offer you are considering.

👉🏽 Let them know you are interested, keep it open-ended and remember there is a time frame.

Template 1 - Request for Additional Compensation

Template 2 - Request for a Meeting .

Hello Sir,

Thank you for offering me the position of an Accountant in your esteemed organization .

I must commend your team for such a wonderful experience during the selection processes and i am looking forward to bringing my skills on board.

I left Nigeria as a teenager with O/L, A/L and two years of university education from UI. It was easy to work as a kitchen porter, cleaner and warehouse worker because I had no inhibition to dirty and hard work, and I was young, ambitious and educated. I shared a room with my younger brother and had no overhead except sending money to my mother and grandmother in Nigeria.

The situation in Western Europe is quite different; the cost of living is very high, their economies could be doing better, and your income will struggle to sustain a family even as a professional.

I will only advise educated single people under the age of 35 to Japa.
Nigeria is gone

Micromanaging an Employee is a Frustrating Action-Stop⛔ It.

Recognizing the signs of a micromanager at work can help you find ways to deal with it.

Below are some subtle Micromanaging Tactics

👉Asking for updates every 30mins

👉 Overly involved and instructed employees to an excessive degree.

👉Call frequent meetings, ask for you to account for every minute of the workday, or position yourself as the sole point of contact.

👉Instead of delegating, micromanagers will take on or have a hand in all functions.

👉Believe that the workplace will fall apart if they do not oversee every step.

👉Refuse to let employees work alone no matter how confident their abilities and team members are.

👉Seeing employees standing around or chit-chatting drives micromanagers crazy.

👉Over-communicates: These managers over-explain instructions, detailing every step no matter how many times an employee insists, I got it.

When you notice all of the above note that you are been micromanaged, to ensure this is properly and politely communicated to the micromanager, here are a few Feedback phases to use;

👉Are there aspects of my performance that make you feel I need extra supervision?”

👉You seem like you have a lot on your plate. How can I ease the burden?

👉“I dislike the thought of you waiting on an answer from me when I am tied up with a teammate or a client. How about we plan to catch up at [X TIME]?

👉“I found this new tool that can keep you updated on my progress.”

👉“I find that I work better when given space to think and experiment. Can you help make this happen?

What not to Say to a Micromanaging Boss

👉Why don’t you do it then?”
👉Leave me alone/Stop bothering me.
👉 I can’t do anything right.”
👉Everyone complains about your micromanaging.
👉It won’t get done any faster with you nagging me

Many employees feel like they must ignore or deal with micromanagement, however, over-supervision can take a toll over time. Autonomy is a necessary part of the job.

I hope the few tips help employees navigate a Micromanaging Boss.
