You guys were not really friends...
We are still until we are not. It's just that we may not make good business partners. We will talk today, I didn't pick his call yesterday night after he missed my call by 10pm, it was late.

He took a huge risk by putting his company at stake, and all you wanted was to give him "commission" out of the profit you were going to make.
What if everything had gone south in the process, and he somehow lost his company?
You should've partnered with him from the onset.

Me, I wouldn't risk my company/business for something I'm not fully part of.
He had a lot to lose.
No way, nothing will go wrong. I made a solid proposal, to buy an insurance in my name against any liability. Nah, I covered that.

I'd say you both don't trust each other enough to consider yourselves as friends.
You both wanted to play each other [more him than you sha], and everything casted.

I called your "friend" greedy because you brought the deal, and he wanted by all means to hijack it. His type is called onye mpiawa azu in Igbo.
He's not straightforward.

Real friends win together.
You both should go your separate ways.
But how exactly did I want to play him?

Both of you are greedy...

You probably would have done same to him and try to edge him out if things had gone the way you wanted.

He wised up and saw your own greed when you insisted on getting a loan to buy equipment he already had to start the job. That is what made him change not smoke. (now you are attacking his reputation - Mr good friend! )

If I was in his place I would have pulled out at the point you insisted on getting that loan when I had the equipments!
Lol. Why won't I invest on a business I found? If he had offered his for hire, it would be fine. He simply didn't want me in. He was not smart, I have the contacts and he can't do shit without me. He has to face his own business and let me start mine. The offer i made him was simple- i use your company, put in my money and the work, and ypu take a fee without doing jack. Now I will get a worth partner.

That dude is not your friend.
He's a greedy, enemy of progress.
Stop calling him your friend.
I still remember when he came through for me in 21 when I had some financial issues. He allowed me repay him by piecemeal. It just dawned on me he feels I should remain subservient to him. But a part of me is telling me some demon possessed him that period, it was really unlike him. Because he had, at some point during this deal, offered to support me with the money I wanted to go get as loan but with a condition I repay him within 6 months, which I agreed to. The last time we met, I caught him smoking (he wasn't doing that before). I don't know other vices he had picked up. He changed. (He had repented from using psychadelics)
BusinessNegative Sense Of Fulfilment I Felt Today by ruffhandu(op):
Today I felt happy that a friend is feeling sad and regretting an action. Somehow, it felt odd, but I had actually looked forward to the day I will make such happen.

I was pursuing this contract from this big organisation since 2022. Due to my position where I work, I wouldn't be allowed to execute same through my private company. So I approached my friend to use his company to go for the job. My plan was to resign and face the business once it clicks. Meanwhile, I was to pay him a commission for using his company. He agreed. He gave me all the details I needed about his company to apply for the job. 2 years went by and we almost forgot about it.

June last year, the job clicked, out of nowhere I received an email (I am the only one who has access to the email and phone number I submitted). I contacted my friend and told him. When he asked about my plan, I told him I would raise money to buy the equipment (I would need a loan of about $1m to make up to procure the needed equipment). My friend suddenly started acting funny. He specifically said I shouldn't bother let him use his equipment to start the job (he has one already). But I refused.

Now I knew he has become interested in the business, I suggested we contribute money 50-50 and the also split 50-50 (that way, I won't need to go for any form of loan). He insisted I shouldn't spend any money until our trial period is over (6 months), by which time we and the client company would have considered if to continue the business by both parties. I insisted I would have to drop capital for the business since he has become actively interested in the business all of a sudden.

While I was planning to drop my part of the money, my friend dropped a bombshell. He was no longer interested in the business. The business suddenly didn't align with the core values of his company. I was stranded. I pleaded and cajoled, but his mind was made up. He then promised to introduce me to another friend of his whom I could partner with, this time around, I would provide the equipment myself, or anyhow I agree with the new proposed partner. He was to set up a meeting. That meeting never happened until after 5 months. I kept calling and following up. Sometimes he will ignore my calls for weeks.

I travelled for the meeting and it seemed successful. I sent the contract to the new person and could only follow up through my friend. It took another 2 months for my friend to tell me the man had declined. I was shattered. Now my friend comforted me by assuring me that he will now partner with me. I arranged to buy the equipment. I had gotten a proforma invoice, secured the loan, and he suddenly came again and said the only condition to this will be that he buys the equipment through his company.

I had complained that I can buy the equipment in my name, then transfer the asset to his company (I just needed a document showing I own(ed) the equipment. I really wanted to now share both the investment and profit with him). He refused and insisted I asked the supplier to change the name on the invoice to his company. I reluctantly did. Linked him up with the supplier. It was at this point I called my client company and they told me the agreement had expired. They promised we can only open a new discussion by December of 2025. I told my friend. I assured him I can still make it happen.

At this point, I feared he may dump the purchasing of the equipment, which may harm my reputation with the supplier (or so I thought). Also, he knew that was a critical moment, so he engaged me in a negotiation of sharing formula. The first arrow he shot straight into my gullet was "now that I made all the investment, what will I give you". I thought I didn't hear well, but he meant it. It dawned on me that this was what he was after from the onset. He proposed to pay me to manage the equipment (I don suffer), I agreed. My spirit had hibernated. He went further to say he can't pay me what I requested as 'salary' for managing the equipment, that he has to slash it by 60%.

At this point, I told him I was ready to walk away from the business without any benefits. I offered to train a manager he will present and let go. I was pained but I did very well masking it. I just wanted him to go to rest first make I plan wetin I wan do, 11 months is still a long time to get out of his evil hands. He sounded so devilish, not like the helpful friend who wanted me to succeed. Since that day, I didn't call him (I used to call him every 2 days when I was following up on him). Last week I saw his missed and sent him a message and said "what's up".

I missed his call yesterday. And today, while I was in a meeting in the office, he called me. I picked the call and he said "ever since I paid for this equipment you no longer call me". I said, almost in whisper, 'I am in a meeting now, let's talk later'. He dropped. Barely 2 hours later, he called again. I was still in the meeting (it was a top management 2024 review meeting) and so I stepped out into the kitchen and said 'I am still in a meeting, let's talk later'. He ignored what I said and said "I am regretting buying this equipment". A stream of joy flooded my soul, then I said 'why do you say so? Well, I am still in a meeting, let's talk when I am home'. I dropped the call.

I have called him twice at 10pm sharp but he didn't take any. I won't bother sending him a message. When I engage him, I will simply tell him 'put it up for sale'. Right now, I am not even ready to buy it back from him, I can only wait till around September, by then I can buy the equipment myself. It seems odd that I am happy he is regretting. But I actually planned to feed him bitter pills for trying to edge me out of a business I brought. I am currently searching out other worthy partners I would use by November. This has taught me that you can never really confirm if a friend is a friend when money has not stood between both of you. His action to me seems to be the height of greed.

Note: Please don't make any effort to contact me privately, this is not intended to defravd anyone as has been insinuated by Came4amod below. If you must make any comment, let it end here.

BusinessRe: Phone Booths: Do You Still Remember This Business In Nigeria? (Photos) by ruffhandu: 12:26pm On Jan 10, 2025
Rapmoney:
Do you still remember when people used to pay for phone calls at phone booths? Then calls were charged per minute. If you make a phone call of 1 minute 3 seconds, you would be requested to pay for two minutes. I still remember how we were very careful then, always talking and looking at the phone screen to see that it didn't exceed the money we had budgeted to spend for the call.

Then, if someone wanted to call you, the call business operator would notify you and you stay close by so that you could receive the call through his or her phone. I think the per second billing by Glo and the reduction of the price of simcards killed this business.

Some people here may not be able to relate with these because they were born when sim cards and phones became available like sachet water. My neighbour as at then bought MTN simcard for N68,000.
You have to also pay money to receive calls through the call centre. It was a big business, I owned 2 locations in 2002/2003.

When Wike used 6 members to conduct the affairs of the state, even though they just chased the other members away, it was ok. Now that these f00lish lawmakers who have been enslaved by wike used their hands to type and sign a resignation letter, and the governor decided to continue working för his people with the 5 left, it is now wayo. Look if you are not emotionally biased towards his release you should know that it's only the elite and powerful eastern politians that sold him out. They will do everything to keep in there. They are in government or do you think anybody can just hand him over like a cheap criminal if it's not properly coordinated by powerful men.
Lastly if you jump bail, you are regarded as flight risk. Honestly I don't know what the laws says about that, but I know they will keep you within reach.
Kanu has not done anything others walking free have not done. There is a caveat for 'bail-jumping'.

CelebritiesRe: Celebrities: Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Feel This Way? by ruffhandu: 6:36pm On Jan 03, 2025
Sermwell:
I see both online and offline how people freak out at the sight of a celebrity. Some even go as far as rushing or grabbing them.

I have never been to any show, let alone wanting to go up stage to grab a celebrity. I saw how a young man was kicked by Burna Boy and I felt really disgusted because such nonsense can never happen to me.

Early last year, I was on the 6th floor at BUA Group headquarters in Victoria Island where I saw Tekno and Davido sitting down at the reception having a chat, I just greeted them and sat down. I also saw how every other person on that floor was minding their business and don't really give a damn about their presence.

When I told a cousin how I feel weird on how people go crazy at the sight of these celebrities, he said it's not normal but I strongly disagree with him. I even told him how some staff at BUA Group didn't give a damn about Davido"s presence, he insisted that they are not also normal.

Do you guys here share my views, or do you think it's not normal?
You are not alone my brother, same here. I have never been to a night club, nor any of those shows. Why would you when you don't desire to be like them? Celebrity worship is a thing for a lot. I hope you know some people get to the extent of fainting? I see it as them being weird, but, who am I to judge. If it rocks their boat, oya, make dem continue. But as for me, I give no hoot about anyone I don't have any business with.

I agree that he is bn held unjustly, but the fact that he jumped bail and instigated alot of people against the government during endsars is very pivotal to his bn held in detention. And don't forget that some of your people sold him out to Buhari. If Kanu is released, it's automatic death judgement for those people. So you see it's their life or his life.
I am glad you acknowledged he is being held unjustly, but let us consider his bail-jump. His lawyers successfully argued that his escape was justified, which was prompted by the unauthorized invasion of his space by the military, with an intent to kill him. The judge upheld their argument and knocked the fg for that. Recall that he had won the fg, up until the supreme court.

When has insulting govt become what many others have not done in Nigeria, and other liberal states in the world? Come on bro, let us be unbiased. Politically elected leaders should be the most insulted people anywhere in the world. If you cannot take insults, then don't run for any office please.

You are the one saying his people sold him out to buhari. Is people selling out their people a good thing?

PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Gives 11 Key Advice To Tinubu In 2025 New Year Message (Full Speech) by ruffhandu: 4:56pm On Jan 03, 2025

Interesting.

Peter Obi's intervention is timely, welcome and needed.

However, most of his arguments seem pedestrian and ill-thought out.

It is not in his place to manage the president. So the suggestion that the president should spend his holidays in different parts of the country or use the National Hospital or visit tertiary institutions or travel through highways do not make sense.

It is curious that this same man opposed the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Suddenly, he wants the president to travel on highways. As for the president visiting educational facilities or each state, each state has a governor, three senators, at least a minister, and several houses of representatives members. It is not in the place of the president to be everywhere. His ministers are responsible for certain beats.

Asking the president to go to the frontlines shows Peter Obi's backwardness. What happened to Idris Derby Itno? Since Peter Obi is not exactly employed at this time and has been gallivanting, he can set an example and go to the frontlines to motivate our troops.

It is curious that the only comparison Peter Obi could draw was when he took Obasanjo on a road trip that triggered Obasanjo to order the repair of parts of a federal highway. Why couldn't Peter Obi draw parallels to his innovative ideas in rapid infrastructural development, healthcare, education and industrialization? Of ourselves, he couldn't because he was sorely lacking in developmental ideas; hence his pedestrian suggestions.

Dear Peter Onwuabasi Obi (POO), the things you suggest are not propositions on running a country. Enjoy your gallivanting and aimless twitter threads and allow those who have the mandate to lead.

You are not ready to lead Nigeria.
I hope you have good intentions for Nigeria and not just out to malign the person of Obi for politics.
Most of Obi's suggestions, to me, seem progressive. This is in the light of the fact that we all assume that the president is only working with the data submitted to him by his foot soldiers. I am sure you saw how the former gover of Plateau, who became Buhari's minister, told us how Buhari was truly not aware of many happenings around him, including the Efcc/Dss fiasco right in front of the president's office. The president visiting some of these institutions once in a while unannounced gives him first hand info.

For the coastal highway, every well meaning Nigerian kicked against it. That was not important at the time. We know it was a money drain and a means of compensating his friend. Many Nigerians advised he should have made existing highways motorable first, such roads as lago-benin, enugu-ph, etc.

Attacking the person Obi doesn't seem to be neccessary here. Obi's records are in the open, and everything he advised he, he did while a governor. He visited schools and medical facilities impromptu and interviews students and staff personally. Thereafter, he made promises, approved projects for them, and followed up to ensure there no embezzlement. He gave his personal phone numbers to senior prefect, medical staff and students, to put management in check.

I know politics and tribalism and hate has divided this country, but let's always remember that posterity will judge us for not fixing what we can. Our children always know if we did well or not during our time.

I responded not to attack you as a person but to challenge your arguments. So, I would not like yiu to use vile words if you wish to respond. I like submitting to superior arguments. Peace.
