The saw the same thing that has made you know Nairobi in and out. A fast growing modern city in the middle of the wilderness know as Africa.

You:'ve not answered my question..... what did thst USA company see about your real estate sector that made them identify it as dynamic...

JLL is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and it is the second-largest public brokerage firm in the world.[5][6] The company has approximately 91,000 employees in 80 countries, as of 2019.[7]

samorobo:
We are getting to the bottom of this....

Tell me what that tiny miniscule US real estate company saw about your real estate sector that made them label it dynamic.....
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018:
Tall buildings are source of national pride everywhere except Ghana. The first tall building in Kenya was the iconic KICC. It was the eiffel tower - and I can tell you millions of pictures have been taken around it.

It was built by KANU - kenya's de-facto and later de-jure political party.

KANU was not satifisied with KICC - 28 floors with rotating tower (32).

They wanted to build tallest building in Africa - 60 floors - to mark I think something - I think Moi's 10yr rule.

The problem they wanted to build right in Nairobi's central park. Enviromentalist caused so much ruckus. The project died.

The site KANU wanted to build it - is now known as the freedom corner. KANU regime came hard on enviromentalist but they fought with everything.

Prof Maathai won a Nobel for this and other things.

theenchanter:
pardon my curiosity, pls. But why do kenyans exalt buildings? Thought buildings are there to serve purposes. thats how i stumbled on an article which tells how ur govt was asking US to build a 60fl building in nairobi as far back as 1993. unfortunately, it ended in corruption saga.

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 9:54am On Aug 04, 2020
You have a problem with them ranking Nairobi highly or you have problem with whole list of Asian cities. Nairobi growth cannot be denied.
samorobo:
Know you should make peace with common sense...not every nonsense out there is credible and true...you went to school right...act like one with an evolved mind....

Jones Lang LaSalle (I'll) is a mere commercial real estate company in the US..they have no business with stupid ranks like this..that would be PWC and the like of others that should be providing such data...

Now tell me what is so special about your real estate that made them call it dynamic....
Step by step I will analyse your madness..
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 10:31pm On Aug 03, 2020
In AGOA, all Nigeria ever did was to sell their oil. Now US are nearly self-sufficient in oil from their shale. Kenya is different story - the clear success story in AGOA - exporting many products to US - heck apparels alone are nearly 0.5B in exports annually.
TayserMahrii:
Does the Kenya-US free trade deal signal Nigeria’s fall from grace?

Nigeria has not managed to convince international investors - including those in the US - that it should be first in line for a post-AGOA deal.

The government of Kenya and the United States of America plan to sign a free trade agreement (FTA), continuing the duty-free access Kenya has to the US market.

It’s a first in sub-Saharan Africa, and patriots in Nigeria were surprised that the East African nation with a GDP of $100bn was chosen over the West African nation with a GDP of $450bn.

While some see the FTA with Kenya as a way for Washington to counter Chinese influence in East Africa, others say Nigeria was excluded because it is not exactly a good trade partner.

Why it matters

After enjoying recognition as the giant of Africa and the biggest economy in sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria may have reached the end of its run.

There have been a string of foreign policy losses:

France taking over the conversation about the West African eco, ignoring the agreements of ECOWAS heads in Abuja,
The delaying signing the AfCFTA agreement, instead of spearheading the agreement,
Losses against the so-called Islamic State,
Strained relations with its neighbours especially in Ecowas – such as Benin
Recently, Nigeria landed on Donald Trump’s infamous Travel Ban 2.0, a testament to the declining fortunes of the once most important African country.

Nigeria seemed like the prime candidate for a free trade agreement with the United States based on the agreements of the African Growth and Opportunity Act. However, the current policies of the country seem not to indicate it’s not good enough as a trade partner for many of its partners.

Adedayo Bakare, an economist and investment researcher at Afrinvest stated the bulk of the trade policies the federal government and Central bank are taking are textbook protectionist and will long term discourage investors from coming to the country.

“Nigeria’s import substitution policy and shutting the land borders are sending negative signals to investors and countries saying Nigeria is not open to trade,” said Bakare.

Doing business in Nigeria is a challenging task and as other countries are presenting themselves as better investment destinations, Nigeria’s global appeal as a big market continues to dwindle.

“The foreign policy and diplomacy wins of the Obasanjo administration have gone down the drain. The reactionary stance this current government takes to everything makes it difficult for trade inside and outside the country,” trader Emeka Onyekachi told The Africa Report.

For Onyekachi, losing access to the ECOWAS market where he usually trades, will mean there would be no reason for any country to respect or want to do business with Nigeria.

Perhaps the greatest indicator that Nigeria is not excited about trade deals and trading with neighbours was its delay in signing the AfCFTA. The AfCFTA has still not been ratified by the Nigerian parliament.

Stop gossiping like the Nigeria market women. If you were mature and intelligent, you would flag my lies whenever I lie. That shouldn't be hard for you because you reckon I do it often. It very easy in the information age to fact check anything. It's made Google so much billion. I first googled I think in 1998 - when it was Stanford project - and not the best search engine - it's only appeal was the fact that it run no ads.

Otherwise, it appears, I have gotten into your head, so much, you don't engage in anything, except the futile attempt to denigrate my moniker. You should already have known that such nonsense have zero effect on me. By 1999 - I was already online sad so I have grown very very thick skin.

I respect folks who make sound arguments backed by facts, rationality and empiricism.

The rest of your nonsense and the gang I have the utmost contempt.

Make or refute arguments using sound argumentation. That is all we care for in human race.

JLL defines what they mean by dynamic=fast growing. They look at socio-economic and real estate data. Nairobi is only one mixing up with Asian cities. Accept and move on. You cannot fight facts. You should already know that.

The Kenya Nationwide Airborne Geophysical Survey project will now cover other natural resources like water body masses, forest cover, geothermal steam potential and areas with potential for tectonic movements.

According to Mining principal secretary John Omenge, the government intends to launch the survey in the next three months after securing $65 million funding from China’s Exim Bank.

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/01/how-to-cure-the-growing-pains-of-the-worlds-most-dynamic-cities/
This year’s rankings find the fastest urban growth continuing to shift away from the West to the East. Asia Pacific is home to 19 of the top 20 cities in this year’s index, and overall, Indian and Chinese cities dominate the rankings, accounting for three-quarters of the top 20.

Nairobi (ranked 6th in the index) is projected to have one of the fastest-growing populations in the world over the next five years. The authorities there are turning to smart technologies to help cope with overcrowding, traffic congestion and inefficiency in transportation around the city.

https://assets.weforum.org/editor/large_SQKItr4dV-tJjP1r5OIOzZGXkzTkPJ9r9W7WiH2ofaY.jpg

Only one city outside of Asia Pacific, Nairobi, ranks in the top 20 most dynamic cities in the globe – and even in Nairobi there is a strong Asian influence, with significant amounts of investment from China, particularly focused on infrastructure projects.

Check kenya 60s and 70s growth figures. The only problem we made was to breed like rats. And this was indeed due to fact that British had ignored education.

Demograhy is very important.

We learnt our lesson in late 70s when we realize despite growing as fast as Singapores - our per capita was dropping - and we were growing poor.

Families had 10-15 kids.

We started one of Africa now most succesfuly family planning programs.

We are about to get to South Africa level - 1.5-2 kids per family. This is the take-off point to upper middle or proper middle class.

Nigeria - poor Nigeria - where do we begin OGA!

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 7:04pm On Aug 02, 2020
We were doing as good as the Singapore for 60s and 70s - but what killed us was population growth. We were breeding like rats. Now we have hit inflection point. I think the year was 2015/2016. Now the kids being born now are less than those born last year. If you give 10yrs the 2016 (5-10yrs) - you can see a little nice population pyramid will transform in 8-10yrs - around 2016+10 - 2025.

So 2025 - is when everything start to fall in place.

Of course. Mombasa is not there. Kenya is not there yet. Kenya cannot compete with South Africa now. We need to triple our economy. We can do that in 10-15yrs. We turned 15B dollar economy to 100B in 15yrs. If we repeat the same magic - we will be 500 or 600B dollars in 2035. South Africa - mmh - you;re a vicious middle class circle. They call it the middle-class trap. Study Latin America. They are stuck. Apart from Chile and Argentina. The rest cannot move forward....

It's passion. Ethiopia have the passion. Isrealis will defend their country to their last blood drop.

Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 6:49pm On Aug 02, 2020
Unfortunately unemployment in your country is approaching 40%. How do you expect an urban resident to survive. At least in rural places - they grow their own food, have shelter and can even walk naked like your Khoisans.

You should really focus on slowdown that urbanization (slumization) - and try to get land reforms going on - send the jobless back to the rural areas - organize them into cooperative - and small holder farming can be as succesfully as large scale farming - kenya is good example.

The idea that agriculture cannot succeed in small scale and in tropics have been proved false by models such as kenya and brazil.

Nothing to be proud of 40% unemployment in urban population. You're just courting disaster.

Austine1213:
SA is 65% urbanized, we aproaching 70%

Kenya is 73% rural, we know wherewhere majority of kenyans live lol
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 6:46pm On Aug 02, 2020
We are pursuing rural development on the back of small holder cooperative based agriculture. Urbanization is great if you have jobs like China. You only get such jobs if you go into export led manufacturing. In SSA - only Ethiopia seem to be hacking it - if they can fix their forex issues. I believe with the new dam - they might proof the next China in Africa - cheaper power, cheap land, incredibly disciplined people - they just need to fix tribal differences.

Otherwise what is happening in South Africa - the slumilization of your cities. I belief the slums are growing faster than formal housing. This is obvious because of the anemic economic growth and unemployment.

Be afraid - you might end up like Ghana or Nigeria - with urban squalor.

Austine1213:
When SA is approaching 70%urbanization you should know where majority lives

Kenya is 73% rural, we know where kenyans live
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 6:41pm On Aug 02, 2020
Nairobi is on another level - you'll see it top 5 in Africa in most of the ranking. Of course with only 15M (30%) urbanization - we really don't have that many urban areas - and it's where we expect to be.

You have aprox 35m people in your urban areas - so you have twice our number of urban areas.

JaceBlaze:
Do you guys have anything else besides Nairobi? I swear Nairobi is all I ever see whenever Kenyans show their best infrastructure lol.
