The second car detonated by police..lots of dead people..most shot on their restaurants or trying to ran.Around 6 attackers holed up in the hotel. ALSHABAB Claim it.Timed to concide to last year attack on Mogadishu. |
Ibrahimanis:Nairobi is about 500kms from Somali border.Obviously there a lot of their terror cells among the millions of somalis in Nairobi but for 4 or 5 yrs they were about nearly eliminated. We need to clean the reminder. We actually had move our intelligence forces to fight graft coz terror war was won.I guess that lapse has allowed them in. |
Goel:I think more population doesnt necessarily mean more consumption.Small European nations beat giant nations in consumption. The right question therefore is once you become rich by having less $ less kids how do you raise and sustain high income in a country while competing with poor low income countries. And the answer is transitioning the country into high tech high paying jobs that can sustain consumption.A poor man may drink 50 litres of milk a year..while richer man will consume may 500 litres...that huge consumption scope per capita before you even transition to luxury consumption.Kazikazi need real life example..TZ family has 6 kids and kenya family 2 kids...TZ family for most part of first 20yrs will survive entirely on labour of both parents will remain mostly poor, malnourished and with zero investments or savings. They may consume more but end up with zero savings or investment to break out of cyclic poverty. They are producing $ consuming more but growing poorer .Smaller kenya family will initially produce $ consume less but will be able to feed $ educate their children better and have some savings $ investments..eventually they may afford a tractor or better farm inputs...leading to greater wealth in short span. The better feed and educated kids will get high paying jobs. The large family kids will mostly end up unable to complete school. This is what generally happen at micro level and translate to country level. |
theenchanter:80B dollars or about 1/4 to 1/5 of 375B.Youre are as thick as most nigerians we deal with here. But take heart Tanzanians can be twice as daft on average. And yet they somehow manage to tie their shoe laces. |
theenchanter:What is the agricultural component of Nigeria gdp in dollars.Answer. 50 brownie points.Tip 20-25% of 400B gdp.Best guesstimate is good enough but be precise if possible. |
forgiveness:I think there is only one such oil well in China..at best all your wells have generated 600b in 50yrs..so you would have to mortgage all oil earnings for 10yrs to get 100b.. |
theenchanter:You look at latest nigeria gdp figures and look at agriculture sector..convert to dollars..if this beyond your paygrade then stop wasting my time.I prefer to deal with people with some functioning brain cells.I would prefer to argue about something google cannot help you slowpoke. |
Jonraid:Exactly. You can overstate your gdp but you cannot multiply the money in your banks. That's is nobody why goes policing gdps. Its like many stats. You want to be accurate for own planning sake. Its like home graded exams. You can give yourself A but real exam youll get you E.You can also understate your gdp and you can end up overdosing. So countries with functional leadership try to be as accurate as possible..and you seem them doing a lot of cross referencing. |
theenchanter:You dont need to be an economist to compute gdp. That is why its done by statisticians.I am software engineer but i have trained kenya $ rwanda national statistics office on some stuff around computer aided data collections using US gov national census bearue tools about 10yrs ago.All you do is collect sector data..try figure quantities produced and market prices using UN classification of all economic activities.Yemi kale is not an economist. He is statistician from lol university of Adis Ababa. |
theenchanter:try type this "yemi kale 80b agriculture overcooked" on nairaland search box.let us know what comes up.we have done that analysis.Nearly half of that 80B is just tubers...yams $ cassavas..sold in informal farmers market. The most incredible nonsense passing as national economics accounts.Youre being lied to by your gov who overstate their gdp so you cannot ask the right question you need to ask..why poverty esp absolute poverty so rampant.Youre angry because you know the truth is youre not Egypt or South Africa even with 200m people. |
forgiveness:2 or 3 or 5b that kenya borrows. You look up what Egypt or South Africa can do...they can leverage upto 200B.And you probably have to gurantee the loan with oil futures contracts. |
theenchanter:South Africa total public debt is around 200b and Egypt 190b..with external debt 75 and 85b respectively. Those are true 300plus B gdps.Nigeria and Kenya debt profile are as similar as their economies and revenues..75 versus 55B.Show me one creditor who can trust Nigeria 200B.Unless he was a fool who expect payment in kola nuts. |
theenchanter:Coz South Africa debt is around 200B dollars.Your can only borrow if you can service or repay the loan. You total debt is 74B compared to kenya 50B coz that is what you can afford.Your revenues collection are nearly equal to Kenya. No creditor cares about cooked GDP.They care about money in bank vaults.Overstating GDP never works. When poverty analysis is done you still stick out. |
forgiveness:They like TZ had 18B forgiven by Paris Club. They are hopeless without oil.Right now no serious creditor can lend them serious money. They have the same tag as HIC.South Africa or Egypt can easily borrow even 200B dollars. They can only float 2 or 3b eurobond like kenya. |
TayserMahri:But islamic magreb and arabia are not breeding.I think it illiteracy and misogyny.once somali women are empowered they will regulate the kids they can have. |
darfay:Forums themselves are vestigial...online conversation happens in social media now. |
8 forgiveness:Do you even have or adhere to some building code or you just build. In kenya at mimum you need to reserve 25% of land for greenery..in other places like Karen they use to allow one hse in 5 acre land..now its 1 acre.Greenery is a requirement to build a decent non slum residences. Most of houses I see in Nigeria would never be allowed in a modern city..just concrete everywhere...instead of just the drive away...everywhere is carbo. |
TayserMahri:Why is leaving early.Njoroge is a gift to our banking sector. His opus dei background makes him incorruptible.Ouko is a accountant...you need an eminent economist for such a post. |
TayserMahri:The first kenyan forum was rcbowen..founded by white kenyan born american Richard Bowen...it was active from 1992 till recently.Http protocol was not even standard when it started nor were there browsers. The likes of Makatiani and Ngweno students of MIT $ Harvard had kenyaNet forum and then founded Africa Online...one of Africa 1st ISP.They made huge fortune in 90s when they sold Africa Online that they had expanded in many countries to South Africa Telkom.Makatiani I think now runs his venture capital FANISI.Nigeria just woke up recently.Mashada was big before hate speech crackdown post 2008 tribal program.Nairaland would be shutdown in kenya for inflaming tribal hatred.Kobia shutdown mashada because like Nairaland it just mostly tribal hate. Then social media came and kenyans to debates there.I think Jamii was started by some TZ who use to post in kenya forum. |
darfay:Forums are so 90s.We had them before.Obviously hate speeches from your likes meant the big ones got shutdown. |
kikuyu1:Ask other companies who have tried TZ.TZ is like Nigeria.Big promise but big disappointment.South Sudan you just have to deal with illiterate thugs.TZ are anti kenyans..if you attempt to drive there..youll be stopped every police check and harassed. Any business investing in TZ is setting himself for failure..magufuli is the worst..at least Kikwete like Mkapa was reasonable. The current one is no better than Amin.Avoid TZ however cheap...or deal with them at arm length..let them bring their maize or beans or timber or fruits across the border.Their gov specifically targets kenyans. They rather South Africans screw them. You see someone confiscating masai cows and burning chicken.I am pretty sure Nakumatt $ ARM met their death there.Avoid TZ like you avoid Nigeria.Unless youre in daredevil. Imagine MTN debacle in Nigeria or Acacia minning in TZ...the lazy idiots can wake up and slap you with 10b dollars fine. They see you as cashcow..a ticket out of their poverty.Imagine TZ slapped Acacia minning with 190b dollar bills as tax. This country that struggle to collect 6-10b dollars a years in tax.You see kazikazi here and he is possibly the smartest in that country of idiots..and yet he is probably the most idiotic person here . |
theenchanter:Easy there are many 400b dollars economy that you can to use cross reference. If someone claim to be xyz then find similarly xyz.You can use South Africa $ Egypt to check if indeed you economy is overstated or not.GDP is basic maths.Quantity x prices then sum it up. |
kikuyu1:True bugandas you generally want to avoid..they are conflicted. But for that and despite their numbers they may never rule uganda.Bugandas are like Nigeria igbos. |
darfay:I only worked for UN for 2yrs then formed a consultancy company working with un and others with 3 other ex- uners. Then quit that too after 7yrs. |
Kazikazi:i pass any tz transport job...road user is like 500 dollars...i know maize and beans are rockbottom...but the risk is too much..risk of being charged money laundering or other stupid tz rules...your police the most corrupt and idiotic.in fact in transport unless you get job to zambia or moz...transit jobs..onky tzs guys do their internal jobs.i rather deal with illiterate thugs like in south sudan than Tanzania. Most kenyans will eventual avoid TZ. |
theenchanter:I work as a software engineer, moonlight in transport with my trucks, have a maize n animal feeds milling in kenya and just got into fishing in lake victoria - uganda side.I spend my time shuffling btw kenya, uganda and Rwanda..with occasional travel to South Sudan $ Congo.I try avoid TZ.May try their beans from westernmost border kagera this year using my uganda credentials.I must hasten to say Ugandans are the most hospitable people you can hope to meet. |
theenchanter:She was a boss..un level d..kofi annan was sec general...she headed kakuma refugee camp..mostly south sudanese refugeess. There were many west africans top dogs at UN.What helped them was their attitude. They would come dressed up in their africa robs and take the bazungu on.Maybe having koffi anan as the sec gen made the whites a little scared. |
Kazikazi:I am typing from uganda.i own property in rwanda.i have houses in nairobi but dont want to live there...horrible traffic jams and mostly dry taps.Remove those two impediments...and Nairobi is as good as London. |
theenchanter:He was wierd guy with lots of facial bruises like he had it rough growing up..but everyone passed so he was quite popular. He never talked about Nigeria.Somehow he figured if everyone passed nobody would bother him.Now that i remember he always came sweating...he had to walk across the university and he was to me just lije smillingnsuffering. The un lady suffered no fools and had long name to match her nigerian attitude. She was so masculine and outspoken even whites knew not mess her. They send her to arid turkana. |
Kazikazi:right..water and traffic jams need fixing to make nairobi a truly world class city |
Ibrahimanis:I actually dont believe in gods or GOD.I have been a proud atheist for most life.Yes i earn money and invest wisely.I just dont suffer fools gladly.I was taught one maths unit by an eccentric nigerian at uon,at un i worked with nigeria muscular nigerian lady and must say nigerians i have met are good people albeit stupid...something is a miss. They are generally friendly and bubbly..but almost never serious.Zimbwabwean greatly impress me by their intellect and i know one day they will rise.i cannot say the same about Nigeria or TZ or DRC. |
Actually they sold only 40 cars on 2017 after buying the 500b dollar a yr economy yemi kale imf sanctioned yarn. Now they think Rwanda with 15 times less population will buy more. The story is the same for multinationals scammed by nigerians to invest....incredible poverty with people eatings rats, snails $ monkeys...while engaging juju and whose only dream is to escape nigeria. |
