I don't think you have factored in the many women in unhappy marriage even in the West that stick with it. There are many of them, they are just far less than in places like Africa.

You also have not considered a significant proportion of this women go through divorce after uncovering repeated infidelity or prolonged infidelity. There are several that sit tight if it is just a simple casual affair.

Another thing is the utter policy imbalance that trigger the difference with Africa, the ability to have some form of revenge. A proportion of women taking this option might just be being hot-headed and want retribution, not like if they do not want to be in marriage.

That said, most divorced Western women (at least UK ones) generally tend to be bitter women because they can't move as easily to other meaningful relationship as the men can. The men only get bitter because they are robbed. Which is one of the reasons why men in the Western don't leave relationships. What is happening now though is that many Western men are refusing to get married in the first place. Their refusal is the core reason for the increase in co-habitation.

Obviously it is not a funky proposition but I can let other people discipline my kids. It would obviously not be the whole world or just any adult but there are several friends and family I would be happy to allow discipline my kids. And, trust me, I would love my child as much as, if not more than, you love yours. I am just not a funky parent.

I don't think my sister-in-law and brother can ever dare say I can not discipline my nephews because no be me born dem. If they step out of line, I would smack them. The prats are lucky I have not done it so far. The only case of smacking I gave was when the older one was always playing very rough with his 1 year old brother. He was actually trying to show love and play with him by hugging him but he was so forceful as a 3 year old, yanking the neck, squeezing him too tight and also doing it too frequently to the frustration of the 1 year old that just wanted to exercise his freedom to explore and rearrange the house (like an interior designer). You tell him to stop but 5 minutes later he is doing it again in a dangerous way that he could actually hurt the younger one. It was me, my mum and the nanny that were home. Even my mum was getting angry at the frequency and everytime I tell him to stop, he would only stop and then do it again in a few minutes. After a while my mum was saying "What kind of uncle are you sef? Smack him jor". After a while, after the umpteenth time and I saw he was not stopping, I took him and gave him 2 slaps on the bum bum. He looked at me in shock and self-pity. Mummy and Daddy usually smack him but Uncle has never, only kisses. Little prat.

GistVillage: he Nigeria Police College has confirmed that about 500 recruits, have been dismissed for various offences.

A Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adekunle Oladunjoye, who is the Acting Commandant of the College, revealed this during the graduation of 4,484 recruits in Kaduna on Friday.

The offences committed by the recruits included forgery, stealing, health challenges and indiscipline.

“The recruit intake Batch 1/2011 course was inaugurated in October 2011.
“They were sent in by the various Police Commands in northern Nigeria catchments areas such as Kano, Jigawa Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau and the FCT.

“Today we are witnessing the passing out of 4,484 recruits consisting general and specialist constables after 15 months of classroom and field training,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, reminded the graduands of their primary responsibilites – protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

“Our primary and sacred function of protection of life and property must not be compromised.

“You must take into cognisance the fundamental human right of every citizen which must not be infringed so as to gain the confidence of members of the public,” he said.

Mr. Abubakar advised them to be of good character and to “eschew any form of corruption in the performance of your duties”.
