Politics › Re: ONU: The Man After Buhari's Heart For 2023 by sageb: 1:14pm On Jan 31, 2022 |
Validated: President Buhari recently stated that his preferred candidate is a secret to him. Reason being that he does not want the person to be eliminated. This man us an unassuming charater who has been in Buhari's cabinet and close associate since the return of the 3rd republic. Towards 2023, Buhari and the northern elites are looking to see how to heal Nigeria and ensure her continued corporate existence. They believe that to achieve this, the APC need to have a Nigerian of Igbo extraction, who is an awoyed Nigerian and committed to the continued corporate existence of Nigeria. Just like the PDP deliberately handed power to SW through OBJ in 1999 to assuage SW grieviances for the Abiola's loss of 1993, Buhari and his northern elites are out to make the South East feel belonged in Nigerian narion. This is why APC will deny Tinubu and Osinbajo the 2023 ticket. The north want to be seen as EQUITABKE.
The candidate that Buhari has been hiding is his fellow political friend, companion and an unassuming compatriot, DR OGBONNAYA ONU. Dr Onu has been with Buhari for over 20 years. They were together in APP, ANPP, CPC and now APC. In fact it is Dr Onu initiared the formation of APC.
Below is Onu's resumè.
"Ogbonnaya Onu was born December 1, 1951, to the family of His Royal Highness, Late Eze David Aba Onu, the Eze Adu of Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State in Nigeria. Onu attended Izzi High School, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State where he obtained grade one with distinction in his West African School Certificate Examination. He also sat for the High School Examination at College of Immaculate Conception (C.I.C) Enugu, and obtained distinctions in Physics and Chemistry, graduating as the best overall student. After his secondary education, Onu attended the University of Lagos where he graduated in the year 1976 with a first class honours degree in Chemical Engineering. He later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemical Engineering. Thereafter, Onu proceeded to the University of California, Berkeley, California, USA where he obtained his post graduate degree in 1980 after doing an extensive work on coal liquefaction and production of synthetic fuels under mild conditions. While at the University of California, Berkeley, Ogbonnaya Onu was the President of the African Students Union; Member of the Graduate Assembly of the University of California at Berkeley and also President of the Nigerian Association of Northern California, Inc. Soon after his graduation from the University, Ogbonnaya Onu became a teacher at St. Augustine?s Seminary, Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi State
studies in the USA, he became a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt. There, he became the pioneer Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. He later served as the Acting Dean of the University?s Faculty of Engineering and was also elected as a Member of the Governing Council of the university. Onu was one of the Directors of the Nigeria Cement Company, Nigercem, Nkalagu, Ebonyi State.
Political life: In the year 1991, Ogbonnaya Onu contested for and won election as the first Governor of Abia State. He was the first Chairman, Conference of Nigerian elected Governors. Onu believes in Nigeria's unity and as the governor of Abia State, he abolished the State of Origin Syndrome and pioneered the appointment of non-indigenes of the State into top positions of responsibility in his Administration. In the year 1999, Ogbonnaya Onu contested election for the position of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the umbrella of the All Peoples Party, APP, which was later known as the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP. In the year 2010, while still the National Chairman of the defunct ANPP, Ogbonnaya Onu initiated discussions with the leadership of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria {ACN} on how the major opposition political parties could work together to effect change in the Nigerian polity. Later he also initiated the coming together of the National Chairmen of all major opposition political parties. These initiative of Ogbonnaya Onu finally resulted in the merger of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and some members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP). Consequently, on July 31, 2013, All Progressives Congress (APC) was formed by the grand merger of the above mentioned political parties. Ogbnnaya Onu was one of the presidential nominees for ministerial appointment under President Muhammadu Buhari. Dr., Ogbonnaya Onu is the author of many books, including: A Footprint: Memoirs of a Chief Servant, Building a Modern Nigeria and ?Technology and National Development. He is married to Dr. (Mrs) Chinyere Onu and their marriage is blessed with Children Nice article but point of correction, Dr. Onu was never in CPC with Buhari. He was a chieftain in ANPP until they joined the grand merger with ACN, CPC and part of APGA. |

Shokoloko: Hi, I see so many people saying you should have seen the signs before getting into the marriage. Now while that is true, you have already tied and consummated the knot - you have to make it work. My spouse WAS a master malice keeper and I solved it. Most people keep malice to enjoy your reaction - asking them to talk and begging for attention When she is sane let her know that her marriage is still young and she is already trying to bury it with malice. Let her know that going forward you will not be part of that game and you will go out with friends and enjoy yourself to give her time, as long as it takes Next time she gives you the silent treatment, don't shout, don't warn, don't beg, don't react while she is in that state. ENJOY yourself. Be happy. Call your friends on the phone and laugh. Go out. Read books. No need for feeding money until she is ready to discuss. Don't look miserable.
On the extreme, the last period, years ago that my spouse gave me the silent treatment, he had been keeping malice for a week: I was reading books, going to the gym, sleeping enjoying myself. On the weekend, he barged angrily into our room, pacing up and down so I would notice him. I yawned and continued to press my phone and smile at the photos. Then he decided to talk and that was the end of malice.
Don't respond to malice. Stay away from the game and enjoy yourself until she is ready to talk Quite interesting Are you in Woji/YKC axis? |

AMumAndMore: ✍ One death too many!
How did we get here?
OK, we've been here a while, so where do we go from here?
Granted, we are all sojourners here on earth, but kids shouldn't be leaving from here faster than Adults, especially when it has Zero to do with natural causes.
As each day dawns, humans make the world increasingly hostile to its most vulnerable. Children.
Again! Where do we go from here?
As a human and as a Mum, it breaks my heart, even to the deepest part of my soul, what these kids passed through what even as an adult, I couldn't imagine going through.
First, Keren Happuch, then Sylvester, and now five-year-old Hanifa.
What are we doing to ourselves?
What seeds are we sowing into our future?
What will we tell The one who created the Universe that we did with his creation?
Sadly, We can't change what has happened.
But we can change what we can, from our various homes.
We can raise better adults for the next generation.
All we have to do is go back to the drawing board and be Intentional with these kids that are yet to be adults.
We owe this and more to those who have gone, but way too soon!
We owe this to the next generation!
Dear Mamma!
What are you doing differently in a bid to raise responsible adults?
Love, Laugh, Learn, Lead and Live Life to the fullest.
Stay Fabulous

Akinboboz: Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina is the 8th elected President of the African Development Bank Group. He was first elected to the position on May 28, 2015 by the Bank’s Board of Governors at its Annual Meetings held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Dr Adesina is a globally renowned development economist and agricultural development expert, with more than 30 years of international experience. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Nigeria, in 1981. He was the first student to obtain a First Class Honours in Agricultural Economics in the history of the university. He holds a master’s degree (1985) and a PhD in Agricultural Economics (1988) from Purdue University, USA, where he won the Outstanding PhD thesis award for that year. Dr Adesina won the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Social Science Fellowship in 1988, which launched him into his international career. A bold reformer, as Minister of Agriculture in Nigeria from 2011-2015, Dr Adesina turned the agriculture sector of Nigeria around within four years. Under his tenure, Nigeria ended 40 years of corruption in the fertiliser sector by developing and implementing an innovative electronic wallet system, which directly provides farmers with subsidised farm inputs at scale using their mobile phones. Within the first four years of its launch, this electronic wallet system reached 15 million farmers, dramatically transforming their lives. The electronic wallet system has now gone global and is currently being implemented in Afghanistan and several African countries. A firm believer in private sector-led growth, Dr Adesina radically changed the perception of agriculture in Nigeria from that of subsistence to a viable business that successfully attracted $5.6 billion in private sector investments. He also led financing initiatives to support youth engagement in agriculture and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Ultimately, under his leadership, Nigeria’s food production expanded by an additional 21 million metric tonnes. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Agriculture, Dr Adesina was the Vice President (Policy and Partnerships) of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), where he led several bold and innovative policy and finance initiatives that leveraged over $4 billion in Bank finance commitments to Africa’s agriculture sector. Working with African Heads of State and Ministers of Finance, leaders in the commercial banking industry and Central Bank Governors across several African countries, Dr Adesina successfully led one of the largest global efforts to leverage domestic bank finance for the agricultural sector. Prior to joining AGRA in 2008, he had served as Associate Director and Regional Director for the Southern Africa Office of the Rockefeller Foundation for over a decade. Dr Adesina was Principal Economist for the West Africa Rice Development Association (1990-1995), Senior Economist and Social Science Coordinator for the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (1995-1998) and Assistant Principal Economist of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (1988-1990). A prolific writer, Dr Adesina has authored over 70 scholarly publications on policy, agricultural development and African development issues. He is a globally respected economist and has served as the President of the African Association of Agricultural Economists, as well as on the Editorial Board of several academic journals, including the International Journal of Agricultural Economists. He was awarded the Outstanding Black Agricultural Economist Award by the American Association of Agricultural Economists. He was a Distinguished Africanist Scholar at Cornell University, USA.
Dr. Adesina has received several distinctions and global awards.
YARA Prize (2007) in Oslo, Norway, for his leadership in pioneering innovative approaches to improve access to agricultural inputs for African farmers. Distinguished Alumni Adesina is a good candidate, he will do well. |

edwinhane: 2023: Southern CSOs back Amaechi for President
NIOBONG EKPONTA, Uyo
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a coalition of socio-political groups, Southern Mandate Group (SMG) have declared their endorsement for the Minister of Transportation, Chief Chibuike Amaechi, noting that his experience in leadership various administrative positions recommend him for the nation’s political top job. Rising from their emergency meeting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, the CSO’s drawn from the 11 states in the South-South and Southeast declared that the former Rivers’ governor has the credentials to succeed the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2023. Addressing Newsmen on Monday, stakeholders of the group led by the President-General, Comrade Chibuikem Nnabuihe and Secretary, Comrade Patrick Jasper Uduefe, National Secretary, endorsed Amaechi, as “a befitting aspirant for the job”. “Having studied the his performance in various positions as the two-term Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly; governor for two term; Chairman Nigeria’s Governor’s Forum; Minister for over six years, we the coalition of Southern CSOs have declared and affirmed supports for Mr. Amaechi. “We have resolved that the Southern block should ensure someone who has the capacity with inner love for the development of the country and capable of fostering national cohesion should be supported to lead the country”, Nnabuihe said. According to him, it was time for the electorates to “rise above petty sentiments of ethnicity, nepotism and other discriminatory factors, to sustain the tempo of developments as engineered by Buhari since 2015”.
“We are staunchly in support of Amaechi and our hope is the Presidency be zoned to Southern Nigeria in the greater interest of equity, fair play and justice”.
"As far as Nigeria's unity is concerned, Amaechi has demonstrated his disposition to the oneness and unity of Nigeria through his advocates concerning the indivisibility of Nigeria.
"During his era as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), Amaechi did not run forum as his personal estate, but used the platform effectively to unite all political parties for the larger national interests. "It was during the period that all the governors on the platform of all political parties had to bury every political sentiments for the unity and peace of the country, irrespective of any poliyical affiliations. "As a Minister since 2015, Amaechi's record of performance is outstanding. He has been able to connect Nigeria from Abuja down South with rail lines criss-crossing the major cities in Nigeria. The Minister has distinguished himself in every national assignments within his office by helping President Buhari to achieve important mile stones in national development by ensuring major aspects of the government policies and programmes were implemented", he stressed, Nnabuihe, who commended President Buhari, for ensuring the unity of Nigeria amid pockets of security breaches in parts of the country, assured that “Amaechi will consolidate”. "Amaechi is a strong nationalist with total devotion to fixing the country by consolidating on the President Buhari", he added and vowed to set aside a day for peaceful rally to impress it on the Minister to run in 2023. "We will soon come up with a date for all well meaning Nigerians desiring peace, development and unity through good governance to demonstrate for the Minister of Transportation, a true son of the South, to fly Nigeria's flag in 2023", he stressed. Amaechi is a good candidate |
