Education › Re: Stop Sending Your Children For Holiday Lessons by sageb: 12:55pm On Aug 21, 2023
Oduok:
Sending kids to holiday lessons makes no sense.

Most of you will make your kids go to school till they become useless. You took them to school at age 3 and abandon them there. During long vacation you still send them to school. To do what?

Can't you spend time to bond with your kids? What exactly are they going to achieve in school during vacation? Vacation lesson only favour school owners, not you. Allow kids rest for God's sake.

If you should engage kids during long vacation then teach them skills. Enrol your kids in centres that they can learn practical computer usage, coding, programming, painting and decoration, catering, musical instruments. Let them learn martial art, how to shot guns, how to wrestle. Teach them something beyond pure academics.

If a school should organize long vacation class then it should gear towards extra curricula activities - debate, modelling, music concert, science fair, mini project. How would you call kids back to school during holiday to learn Math, English, Chemistry, Social studies, accounting, by same teachers that taught them during school period. What is the difference? If these teachers knew what to teach why didn't they do it during normal school session.

Education is beyond memorizing facts. Give your kids opportunity to develop and be better prepare for life.

divinehand2003:
I was summoned suddenly to the hospital after almost three years of separation. He was on the sick bed, seeing each other again, reminded me of the many dreams I've had about him and how i was the one telling him I don't have anything against him again.
I did the same, he was calm, he responded positively to everything I said to him, I apologized for the wrongs I did, which was to call the cops, I told him the devil did us great evil and we can start all over again.
I asked if I should go home and make food for him, he said yes, oh, what a joy! I miss cooking for him, I told him, our kids are fine and standing by him on the bedside was my 13yrs old, and I said, I never fought you back, I've been waiting and hoping that all this war will end oneday.
The SW said he was okay that I came,
There's a me that's feeling hopeful that he's going to come back home and all shall be well again.
Only for me to be called again late night that he died. I was confused, I ran to the hospital confused, my sight became blurry, and I couldn't imagine me seeing him dead. I was hoping we would talk about everything and how much I had learned and suffered alone with the kids.
I was hoping I would get the opportunity to tell him, he hurt me so much and made me suffer like a criminal that I wasn't. My head went blank.
I had bladder loose.
I couldn't comprehend anything. I was numb.
I was summoned to pick up his body. Where do I go from here, koyemi.
I was handed over all his house keys, car keys, credit cards, everything!!!
Still in shock, I visited his home to move his stuff back home, and my heart kept breaking as many things were being revealed at that time.
He has different types of concoctions sent to him from nigeria by his families that he's been taking, which led to his kidney damage.
I realized I'm the one who often scrutinized his intakes.
12 years of marriage, he never visited the hospital or had any course to be admitted.
I began to hear many things.
I have questions I couldn't answer.
It feels like the enemy planned it all out. During his burial, I saw his eyelids moved, oh, I was going to say, "Prince, oya get up, let's go home."
I realized that despite all that happened, at the end of it all, he was my responsibility to care for after he died.
I said to myself, where are all the people who encouraged him to wage war against his only family? They are nowhere to be found.
We are by ourselves now! Me, him, and his kids.
This is family! Never allow anyone in your marriage. When it's all done and clear, it's gonna be you and him and your kids. There's no one else again who's as important as your wife/husband. Only my signature was accepted, I was told you're his next of kin, and he didn't change anything despite his rage.
My heart kept aching.
Nobody else matters at this moment, but his family. Please don't let love and forgiveness diminish from your home, no matter how bad the situation looks. We only know the beginning of war, but we never know the end of it.
I thank God I was able to speak to him, I told him, I never fought you, despite all that you did to me.
He was quiet, I told him, "I do call you, but you don't answer my call.
But, it's fine, let's forget all that happens and move on. But he chose to go REST from it all.
Adieu Adewale

Kevineleven:
It means you are under society pressure, it is like a demonic attack, its women that will attack you the most, they are always the one most available to the devil.
These are the attacks
1: If you are single guy above 30 they will know, because you will look far much younger than your age, handsome, at peace and clean.
2 They will start coming close to you even married women, you will think this is friendship but they are trying to find out your age, they are looking at your body for a sign that you are above 30, signs like, small bald hair, wrinkles on forehead or gray hair on your beards, once they see any of these.
3: The attack, they will start putting sir in their greeting even though they are older than youu(Good morning sir, how your family) , this is not out of respect but they are looking for a way to tell you that you are old enough for marriage.
4: They will gossip about you
5: You will hear birthday songs often in your neighborhood, even in the church, again the song is to tell you that you are old.
6: They will send their children to play in your compound.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Most Important Job At 5000naira/month by sageb: 11:59am On Aug 18, 2023
Skyview01:
Looking back at my career trajectories and jobs I have had in the past if someone would ask me what was my best and life-changing job, I would say without any shadow of a doubt, it was my job at a small-sized audit firm along Ikorodu Road Lagos that changed my career as an accountant.

It was the year 2000 and I was done with my Accounting Technician Service(ATS) - I started with my SSCE and passed my PE1 with ICAN.
I was preparing for the next level and desperately looking for a job. Without a degree, OND, HND, and Nysc, or any formal education for that matter. I was a poor broke dude coming from a large poor family, all eyes were on me in the family and I could not afford to fail.

For me, it was a do-or-die kid of affair!

As broke as a church rat, I would always go to the newspaper vendors at the Cele bus stop in Lagos every Tuesday, and pay a token to borrow the Tuesday Guardian.

That was before the internet era, I would write out all the vacancies and return the paper to the vendor. That way, At some point, I had submitted more than 200 applications with no feedback. Totally discouraged, I taught the village people are on top of my matta and might be under some spiritual spell.

Around mid-2000, I came upon a brilliant idea, I made up my mind that I needed experience from an audit firm very badly on my resume if I were to succeed as an accountant. So, I printed more than fifty(50) copies of my resume and starting from Anthony bus stop on Ikorodu Road, up to Oju-Elegba bus stop, you know there are lots of small accounting firms along that axis.

I trekked and distributed my resume and cover letters to all the firms I could find while in the hot sun, sweating like a Christmas goat about to be slaughtered for the pleasures of others.

My modus operandi was to walk up to the receptionist of any firm and tell them I was looking for a job. I would give out my resumes and cover letters like candies on a Halloween night, asking for them to contact me if they happen to have any vacancies while I tossed resumes under doors for offices that were closed.

When I got back home, I would wake up in the middle of the hot night to pray and cry to God for divine favor on my applications.

One month after that exercise precisely, I got a call from one of the audit firms I had dropped my resume to come for an interview for the position of Semi-senior at a whooping salary of N5,000 naira in a month. I was so happy and was jumping upandan with joy, even went to the local revival hour service to share a loud testimony in the church.

Most of the time, I could not afford transport fares and would hitch a ride on the open back of a neighbor's pickup truck for free while immaculately dressed in my cut-and-join three-piece suit and a fat guillotine, neck-chocking tie, sweating and smelling like a Canadian skunk, to work in the at my 5k naira job.

I worked in that company for about one year and learned a lot, I was able to lead audits of manufacturing companies, government agencies, and finance and construction companies, and within one year, I was already well-grounded in accounting work experience.

Going back to the topic of the thread, the reason why I rated that, 5000naira/month, job was that later in the years, all three breakthrough jobs I had specifically requested experience in an accounting firm as a major requirement.
I wouldn't have gotten those jobs without my audit firm experience. I later went on to finish my exams and lectured for the institute, and the rest, as they say, are now stories.

Never let anybody put you down and do not despise days of little beginnings, That little position you may be occupying today may be a building block to a brighter future and hard work does pay.

Whatever you want in life, go out there and fight for it like it's a matter of life and death.
After you have tried your best, you can now go and pray as though you depend on God 100% (if you are religious)

Without that 5k job, I am positive I may not be where I am today, and the purpose of this write-up is to encourage millions of young one's out there. The country may be tough and our leaders may be failing us, prices of commodities may be sky-high in the market, but that is not enough excuse for you not to succeed.

Thanks for reading.
Never despise the days of humble/little beginnings

The difference is that a minister controls a budget head. Can corner contracts through fronts. He can also dish out patronage to his political underlings and can also influence Board appointment under his ministry.

You can imagine being a Minister of Education were Tetfund, UBEC fund, overseas scholarship unit are under your direct supervision. The head of these organizations always dispense largess to the honourable Minister so as to be in his or her good book.

Whereas a senator only relies on his salary and allowance and some crumbs from the ministry he is oversighting as committee chairman. Senators goes cap in hand begging for contracts through fronts from the ministry they are oversighting.

That’s the problem why people are still suffering in Nigeria and Africa

Do you know how many Nigerians benefit from some scholarships donated by American billionaires.
Some people get full funded scholarship with monthly stipends to study in US universities. And from there get jobs that change their family story and taking a family out of poverty.
The universe is give and take. The phone you are using and the advancement you enjoy today is because some people worked hard to solve human problems.
We are not equally gifted. But there’s a reason you were born to a particular family, come from a particular place and region.
What’s the essence of having a billionaire from your village and nobody in the village can boast of one thing they benefit from the billionaire. It’s bad and terrible.
All these money won’t follow anybody outside this planet. Maximum you spend 100 years and depart, when you could have made at least few people smile

The wealth you have, knowledge or power should not be used for selfish reasons or yourself alone, help humanity. It won’t cost you too much.
The whites use their knowledge to bring innovations that we enjoy, they use their wealth for charity as well and we all run to them.
The only way dimensional poverty can be cured in Africa is everyone giving back no matter how little to lift one another.

America became richest country in the world through innovation and philanthropy.
Especially during glided age period of its history from 1880 to 1910.
Many billionaires from rockfeller, carnegie, Vanderbilt , Goldman Sachs,Thomas edision,Henry Ford etc have made huge amount of money literally atleast a trillion in today's dollars .

What they did, they spent 30 percent of their profits on innovation and paying very good salaries to employees there by attracting best talent from across the world inturn generating even more profit for themselves and their shareholders.

The most important thing they have done for America is after their deaths they contributed huge sums of money in form of huge endowments to Ivy league colleges,

There by ensuring future for their companies as well as future for their country is secured .
You will get the best talent not only from abroad ,but also from Harvard,MIT,Stanford etc .

All these made America extremely powerful by world war 1 as Europe fighting major wars every 10 years lost all important talent to America as well as unable to fund research and innovation at their University as money is diverted to war.
The only saving grace for Europe is colonialism of Africa and Asia , if not for colonization Europe would be at same level as Asia of 10 years back.

The mistake I think Amoda made was forgetting to do all the necessary paperwork (Legal change of name) at the time to legitimize the new name BAT which he would eventually take on.

He must be regretting this very silly mistake and the people digging further to unravel this have the information at hand.

The late Yemi Odumakin did a bit of an exposè on the mystery man (BAT) before he passed on.

This is one problem with lying. You'd need to constantly remain a step ahead in your thoughts, and actions, and always have sleepless nights because it is no small job to continually think up new lies to cover up the previous ones without any mistakes.

I don't envy BAT one bit.
