Android phone (used showglass phones)

Aside these three things, what would be a suitable surprise gift to him?

garfield1:
Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has granted bail to Uyo Senatorial District Senator, Bassey Albert Akpan.

The court granted Akpan bail on health grounds pending the determination of an appeal.

On December 1, 2022, an Uyo Federal High Court-led by Justice A.A. Okeke sentenced the Senator to 42 years imprisonment for corruption.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned Albert for receiving exotic cars worth N204m from a contractor of the Akwa Ibom State Government, Jide Omokare.

Reacting, Albert gave thanks to God after the court granted him bail.

In a Facebook post, the governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, wrote: “In every situation, God has something to say. It’s all about God.

Politics › Re: Federal High Court Grants Bassey Albert Bail On Health Grounds by sageb: 11:30am On Dec 29, 2022
edikandavid:
Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party in Akwa Ibom, Senator Bassey Albert who was jailed by the Federal High Court in Uyo for corruption, has been granted bail by a vacation federal high court sitting in Port-Harcourt.

He was granted a post-conviction bail pending appeal, after pleading for mercy to enable him undergo further medical care and treatment.

This newspaper gathered that the convicted Senator had previously organized a football competition with other jail inmates, where he participated in the football match and claimed he was injured.

Findings reveal that the vacation Federal High Court for South/South zone granted him bail, because he appeared at the court room with signs that he was in dire needs of intensive medical care having been undergoing treatment at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

OBA's appeal against the judgement of the federal high court is yet to come up for hearing before the Appeal Court.

A source who confided in this newspaper on condition of anonymity, disclosed that he(Bassey Albert) “is an inmate who got injured while playing football at the correctional facility”.

He is said to have first gone to a private medical facility and when he requested for a medical certificate that he could tender in court, he was referred to the Teaching Hospital, as Federal Courts only honour reports from government owned facilities.
“He has been at the teaching hospital for some days now and that is why those who went to visit him at Ikot Ekpene could not meet him,” a source disclosed.

It would be recalled that the Senator Bassey Albert was convicted on Thursday, December 1, this year, by the Federal High Court in Uyo, presided by Justice Agatha Okeke, having found him guilty of corruption and money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Reacting to this, a legal professional, Emmanuel Udosen, said “the court reserved the right to grant or reject post conviction bails and in any case, if the court exercises her right, nothing new, and nothing worth jubilating, more so in a case where a public officer expected to live above board soils his hands in corrupt practices which negates the code of conduct expected of such a public officer.”

Elder Udosen explained that, “Bassey Albert’s application for post conviction bail was filed at the Vacation Court in Port Harcourt because the Federal High Courts, including Uyo Federal High Court that convicted him are on vacation.”

Udosen maintained that the Vacation Court, being a court of Coordinate Jurisdiction with the Federal High Court, Uyo can be construed as the court of first instance.

“A vacation court is an emergency arrangement put in place to attend to urgent matters which may not wait for the courts to resume from vacation.

OBA's post conviction bail application came up on the 22nd December 2022 at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, being the vacation court for the Federal High Courts. The matter was adjourned to Wednesday, 28th December for judgement which has since gone the way of the applicant.

On why the case went to a court of coordinate jurisdiction and not an appellate Court , he admitted that the application for post conviction Bail could not be heard in the vacation Court of Appeal as there is no pending appeal before it by Senator Albert Akpan.

“Senator Albert’s appeal has not yet been filed at the Appeal Court because the courts are on vacation”, he added.

1. Is Dubai a nice country I will go ( I don't have skill)?
2. If Dubai is not a better option, which country should I consider going to and why do you recomend the country for me?

Admin please send this to the front page.

Dubai is not a country, it is a city in United Arab Emirates.
Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE.
so far, Dubai is being considered as a nice place to live and they are not religious extremist.
Alternatively, you can try Canada or Germany, Why I recommend this two is that if you have the funds to go there, there are opportunities e. g Postgraduate education is free in Germany and Canada have job opportunities for Nurses and various artisans.
Good luck to you
Politics › Re: Kwankwaso's Game Plan. by sageb: 3:34am On Dec 29, 2022
Localemperor:
This analysis is purely my opinion and what I think he is trying to do.

Kwankwaso is not contesting to win the election next year, but he is trying to use the Buhari model in the north.

Did you know how many times Buhari contested before he was able to annex the 12m northern vote? Despite being former head of state, Buhari had to rally round North 3 times before he got it right.

Buhari becoming the most powerful contender in the north was because of his consistent hunger for power. Over years, he made the people rally round him.

In 2015, Tinubu saw that the fastest way to get the presidency was to cut shot the reign of Good-luck Jonathan, because if he had allow Jonathan to rule till 2019, then power moved north, it's would take South another 8 years (2027) before power returns and by then he ( Tinubu) would have been too old to contest, so he got his calculation well by saving 4year.

When Tinubu looked North to find an alliance, he went to no other person than Buhari who already is the biggest power house in Northern Nigeria, and the rest they say is history.

Now this is exactly what Kwankwaso is trying to do in a lesser time. Kwankwaso want the presidency to go South, any body that win between Tinubu and Peter Obi is a win for him. You will also agree with me that this is Tinubu and Atiku's last chance at the golden egg and when Atiku is out of the way in the North, who do you think his supporter in the North will rally round ( Mind you, Kwankwaso already have massive cult-like followers in Northwest).

When Atiku is gone and the South has ruled and when power returns to the North, who do you think would be the most likely to succeed?

Under the Nigerian standard, he can still vie for the presidency at least twice before he retires.

What I'm trying to say is this, since Atiku has lot his block vote in Southeast and still having issues with the G5. He has no base in the South because Tinubu owns the Southwest and majority of the SS states will be fest for all.

Kwankwaso is planning to disrupt and divide the Northwest vote and with this, were will Atiku get his votes from? Northeast can not win the election for him.

Kwankwaso is a visionary and futuristic politician grin

What do you think..
It is obvious to all that Kwankwanso will not win 2023 but the man is building a formidable political force in the North that will still be influential beyond 2023.
Kwankwasiya political movement is a force to reckon with in the North especially in Kano state.

I'm giving away a total of N270,000 and I'm going to need assistance with selecting the lucky winners.

In case you're wondering why 270k, here's why.

About 10 years ago, precisely 12/27/2012, I attended my first and last F1 student visa interview at the US consulate, Abuja and the journey to where I am today started on that day.

Nairaland was extremely instrumental to my adequate preparation, hence I want to give back to this forum once again, particularly in this Travel section.

I'm thinking giving out 10k to 27 people or 27k to 10 people.

Here's what I need help with:

1. 27k to 10 people OR 10k to 27 people. Please like either of the 2 posts below to indicate your choice.

2. I need suggestions how to select this winners.

Suggestions with the most likes will be adopted.

UPDATE: Once this thread gets to end of second page, suggestion with the most likes, no matter how ridiculous it sounds, WILL be adopted.

Family › Re: The Collapse Of Family Is The Collapse Of Society by sageb: 10:35pm On Dec 28, 2022
atheistandproud:
The collapse of the family structure in society will always predate the collapse of a society. This is usually one of the signs to look out for. In communities where the family structure has completely broken down, society deteriorates with it.

You can't fix this one with a swoosh of a magic wand.(donotcopy) This is because this problem is a oroborosian one. The breakdown of the family structure exacerbates the breakdown of society which in turn causes the family structure to breakdown even faster.

In Nigeria here, with the introduction of celebrity culture and the internet going into full swing at some point in the mid 2000s, it only served to worsen and spread(donotcopy) one of the worst tendencies that we have...the worship of money.

Throw Instagram in several years later and a corner has been turned. The first victims of this were unfortunately young people. The ladies in particular who were bombarded with images (usually enhanced or fake) of an unattainable life led by the 1%. They soon imbibed it and made it their standard.

Instagram celebrities like Linda Ikeji also added fuel to the fire. If he doesn't earn in dollars or in 6 figures, dump him. If he doesn't have a car, he's not your class(donotcopy). If he doesn't this, if he doesn't that etc. Soon the young men will fall victim and would now look to attain these standards set by Instagram celebrities and enforced by women. This is on top of the already bogus culture of bride price that extorts men.

If that wasn't bad enough, even people who were already married would choose to impose these standards on their long time spouses, both male and female.(donotcopy) Marriage is no longer about teamwork, it's now about getting one's way. If you don't have your way or you're not happy, DIVORCE!!!

With the hunt for money in full swing and a new phenomenon of divorce rapidly tearing through marriages, there's a whole generation of kids that do not know the comfort and stability of a 2-parent home. The single parents are too tired from working that they simply do not have the energy to parent their kids.

With poor leadership, ever disappearing jobs, zero opportunities etc.(donotcopy) There's only one way to reach these standards. Crime!

In many communities the glorification of crime, discouragement and suspicion of education, absenteeism of fathers (and mothers too), fewer opportunities, impoverished neighbourhoods etc. has become the norm(donotcopy).

Yahoo boys (internet fraudsters), 419-ers (local fraudsters), kidnappers, armed robbers, violent cultists, drug-dealers, ritualists, organ harvesters etc. have become role models for children whose parents have all but abdicated their responsibility.

Without the family structure to act as a buffer between these impressionable young minds and the cancer of societal vices, the hope of any future family structure for future generations tanks even further.

Because of the above, all of these things are factors that lead to a sort of trap that is very difficult to break free of because the young ones are, to all intents and purposes, born into it and will probably never escape it.

It was doing him like film, I then went ahead to pay the salary of our children's lesson teacher so that he would stop thinking about it.

That's when I realized that he was doing so much without complaining He sees it like his duty and even when the financial burden is too much, he struggles to pay without asking me.

He was so surprised and happy, I know that my money is just a fraction of what he brings but he felt like I gave him millions.

I then told him that I am putting in the effort to make more money so that I can still reduce his stress. He didn't marry a responsibility, he married an helper and he should be feeling more relaxed than when he was single.

I have never felt entitled to anybody's pocket and I won't do that with my husband.

By Jett-Iyke Amaechi

I asked a friend that traveled abroad when he told me about the decline in his spiritual life.

"Or is it that they don't allow you pray over there? Tell me."

The abroad guy responded, "No, it is not so. You are allowed to pray here.

But when you get here you will realize that a lot of things that we perceive to be spiritual are not.

They are a product of failures, from government and ourselves.

You will meet a system and an ideology that will challenge your previous beliefs.

Imagine that here, you don't pray to fill gas, own a house, a car, go to school or have your children attend one of the best schools.

But in Nigeria, sometimes you even pray to have your three square meal per day."

"The thing tire me." I replied.

Then he continued, "You don't even pray to get a job.

There are agencies saddled with that responsibility and they do their best to get you a job in 2 months.

And once you get that job your life becomes a product of leverage, the one we acknowledge as grace in Nigeria.

But this grace doesn't come from above, it comes from the government.

Your child can even go to university and graduate without paying a dime.

As the child begins to work, the government will gradually deducts his fees from his salary in a way that it won't even affect the child.

Under such atmosphere, if it's you, you will change and behave like me.

You won't even suspect your uncles, you will know they have no hand in your failure or success.

I don't suspect my uncle's anymore. Infact, I even call them on phone now.

We are closer than before. Life is really a mystery.

A traveller is wiser than a gray-haired man.

But I will advise you, you know the government we have, do your best and come to this place.

You will thank God you did."

At this instance, I was weak. " So our government had made us to hate our uncles like this when we should have loved them.

Oh! As I have become an uncle now, tomorrow my nephews and nieces will hate me thinking that I'm responsible for their failures.

When I'm innocent. God forbid! Some of our uncles may be dying in silence of their innocency.

God will help them.

So, our government made us pray about every issue of life no matter how small and jump from one prayer house to another.

It shall not be well with them." I concluded.

" I think you now understand," We ended the call.

I was in deep thinking of what to do.

"Should we all leave this country and runaway? No, all of us aren't meant to travel overseas." I muttered those words.

But you that read to this point, what do you think?

And that if you are born into a Rich Family there's every likelihood that you may turnout to be Rich e.g the Dantatas, the Awolowos etc, but that if you're born into a poor family, there's every possiblity that you must struggle before getting to the peak through hard work, diligence, belief and consistency.
I equally know that; because you are the one to place the ladder for yourself to climb is very irksome, and even though you ended up placing the ladder, it will eventually take you ample time to reach the climax.

However, read this episode below, slowly and ardently:

There's this belief that most people in the Northern part of this country are beggars of which they are called "the Almajiris" and those that are fully or partially disabled. I noticed this in Abuja.
Their main stations are; Military Checkpoints, Market Entrance, Mosque Entrance, Perceived Rich men's Quarters and most likely where there's a "speed breaker " on our major road high ways. The Truth Is; because I have visited the four cardinal landscape of this country (North, South, East And West), there are beggars in all.
In late 2020, I was transferred to a place called Kontagora in Niger State, the boundary between Niger And Kebbi state just few kilometers to Yauri (which is in Kebbi State). Duty Calls!
So while in Kontagora, directly opposite our office was a T-junction called Amala Junction, Adjacent to the junction was a tared road leading to another point. So one day I decided to take a walk around my vicinity since I was new to the area during my one hour break period, and so I saw a partially disabled man washing machine (motorcycle) because he owns a washing machine spot, when I mean disabled, I am not lying, I was shocked because judging by the stereotype that partially disabled people in the Northern part have no alternatives rather than begging. So I thwarted my strolling by stopping at the opposite direction to his shop while watching him wash the motorcycle for like five minutes, right there and then, I said to myself, if this man that people from a distance has pity on could engage himself in something meaningful with his life considering his sorry state from onlookers, how much more about me that every part of my body is functioning well, hail and hearty. I said to myself, again; I Have No Excuse!
Let me tell you what excuses does to we human beings:
Excuses, will turn your dreams into dust.
Excuses, are the currency with which you buy failure.
Excuses, no matter how valid it seems, they are the reasons why you are where you are till today.

Now, someone somewhere maybe wondering; what prompted Mr. Paul to put up this write up this Tuesday morning!
Now here is the reason; A friend of mine called me few days ago, a long call at that, so we were talking, ranging from pleasantries to current situation of things and what next? Hence, he dropped a mind-blowing question: Don't you have a family member, friends or someone that can actually fix someone somewhere?
I gave him a resounding YES as a response, and then, he asked again; why no help yet? Up until now, I didn't give him an answer. I just hope he sees this epistle of mine as my reply to his question in a well elaborate form.

N.B: Stop hating and envying your family or friends that has/have and refuse helping you and seems to have abandoned you, making money is the hardest thing to do that's why we have high percentage of poor people compared to the well-to-do across the globe. So instead of hitting and hating at them, pray for them and work on yourself that your own story will change for the best. You can still change your story, you're not late yet until you are Late.
When I was growing up, 504, V.boot, vovol were the best cars then, but today, the aforementioned are all trash.
Today, we now have fast cars like Ferrari, Brabus, Roll Royce, Bugatti Veyron And most importantly, Tesla. So you see, relax, take a deep breath. Remember, when you hit it, their's will be old school yours will be new school. Because they have not stopped manufacturing cars, sophisticated building materials and et al.
I know we rise by lifting others, of course, I am not oblivious of that very fact, but what will you do, when they refuse exchanging hands of fellowship, kill yourself because that family member or friend refuse helping you, kidnap them ( hell no) or do ritual ( that's sound barbaric and mundane to me).
The sky is wide enough for every bird to fly.

Work, believe, pray and hope (however, don't forget consistency) for hope does not disappoint us!

See You All At The Climax!!!
