seunmsg: The fact that the judge dismissed the case without even allowing a trial says it all. The anti corruption war is doomed if every arm of government keeps protecting their own from punishment.
The executive protected Babachir Lawal and Abba Kyari from prosecution even when weighty allegations were made against them. The National assembly rallied round Saraki and Dino despite the serious corruption and certificate forgery allegations against them. Now, the judiciary has also joined the fray by protecting one of their own.
The federal government should not waste time and resources appealing the high court judgement. They will get the same outcome at the appellate court. The president should start by taking action against those accused of corruption in the executive. That is the only way to send a strong signal that he's serious about the war on corruption. Wao!!!!! Never knew you could be this objective and non partizan. You said it all, nothing more to add. |

abescom: Are you telling me someone who is selling Tomatoes for instance can't reduce their prices? Or rice? I can understand if the prices of luxury items don't come down just yet but what or perishables?
And would the sellers of even the luxury items have hesitated in increasing their prices if the naira was crashing? You people like to isolate the tomato sellers from the real world but no, they are part of it. If He/she sells at cheap because he is not involved with dollars, how would he/she meet up with other high cost of goods he/she needs? Or maybe the tomato seller does not buy fuel, buy pampers, buy milk, pay school fees and pay house rent abi? Bros, this is a cycle, it will affect everyone. Sellers would not hesitate to to increase prices of goods when naira is crashing because they need to protect their capital else it will get eroded to the extent they can no longer restock thier goods. I agree, there are greedy business man but then the bulk of the problem lies in the instability of the economy which is affecting our forex. |

Unfortunately it is not going to be easy. PMB also has some skeletons in his cupboard which is known to some inner caucus guys and that is why he can't go over the limit. Saraki has been a thief right from his days as governor and it is well known to PMB. but because they wanted to win an election, they embraced the thief, used part of his looted funds to finance the election, used his influence to win over some people. Remember PMB and Saraki were campaigning in the north central on the same podium Now, you think this crook can go down easily? See if Saraki goes down, he will drag a lot of people in his party with him and this is why they are still playing to the gallery in his case. |

abescom: For me there is nothing to celebrate until we witness a crash in the prices of commodities. If prices of food items and other things had to shoot up using the increasing dollar/naira rate as excuse, the prices should come down now that the naira is gaining upper hand against the dollar and other currencies.
The government should force marketers, sellers, importers, manufacturers and their likes to crash prices if no we are only artificially increasing the value of the naira to make some select greedy bastardos rich.
The dollar, pound, euro and other currencies have been crashing against the naira for over 3 weeks now yet no impact is felt. Things are still as expensive as ever then what's the point?
I personally am not happy one bit. And it is because I earn in dollars. I don't mind dollar crashing if my buying power does not diminish but I seriously mind now that prices are still as high as they were. Bag of rice is still 20k+, my baby's food is still as expensive as before, Milton solution for my baby that was hitherto 700 naira is still 1200, pican teething that was just 1200 is now 2,000.
It is f*cking annoying and the government needs to do something very fast. The only thing the govt can do is to fix the economy which will then support our forex. You cannot have cost of goods to be reduced at this point because the forex market is not yet stable. For example, it fell to 350 at some point but rose again to 395 in a space of one week. This is bad for business, a trader can't sell at cheap now because he or she is not sure if forex would remain the same when he wants to restock. Until there is stability where a trader is sure to get forex within a particular range for months or years, the cost of goods will not go down. |
Business › Re: Naira Gains On Fresh Dollar Supply, Now 390/dollar by Saintp(m): 7:39am On Apr 05, 2017 |
With the uncertainty and fluctuations on forex, how would the trader be confident enough to adjust the price of thier goods lower in the market?
Whether high or low forex, stability remains the most important factor. If not, it will not translate into reduced cost of products in the market which is the most important thing to the common man on the street.
At end of the day, the economy has to be fixed if we must get a stable forex. |

Will turn my back against Buhari's government if DSS and Saraki and his cohorts in the senate are not dealt with. This is why I warn Nigerians to stop taking blind alliance with politicians irrespective of party. See Bros, saraki is a wise criminal, he also have some çlassified dirts on PMB and that is why there is a limit to how PMB can fight him. Remember he campaigned with PMB on the same platform during election, didn't dey know he was a thief then? abescom: They should stop the madness if the impact is not going to be felt by us. What's the point of the naira gaining grounds over the dollar if prices of commodities aren't going down?
Everyone especially people from certain regions in this country were shouting the rate of naira vs dollar was appalling which I agree ( even though I personally benefited from it). Now the dollar is now between N340 and N360 to a naira from the N520 record high but nothing has changed.
Unfortunately we still have prices of things in the market as high as anything but no one is talking about it? Many were quick to hurl abuses at the government and especially Buhari now the needful have been done but no one is criticising the disgusting marketers and market women who are our real problem.
Don't tell me for a minute that two weeks is not enough to crash down prices of stuffs that had gone up. Two weeks would certainly have been enough for them to skyrocket.
And don't tell me they need to sell what they have in stock before bringing new prices, they never had to wait before increasing their prices when prices was shooting up as if they were heading for the moon.
If only we can get on the back of the idiotas call importers, retailers, market women and etc as we do the government, maybe, just maybe things will change.
Am I angry? Yes, I am angry, it is obvious. £100 now has less value in naira terms which is what we want but the buying power is still as small as before when reverse should be the case. bleeping disgusting and rretarded bastados dem marketers, importers and market women. It is actually not the fault of marketers most of the time. This is what you get when instability is the order of the day. Everyone becomes to cautious including marketers. The marketers may not likely sell on cheap so soon because no one is sure if the forex rates will be stable. The aim of every trader is to sell and have the capital to restock again. If he sells on cheap and by the time he wants to restock, he can't because prices are now higher, he may be out of business. This is why the job of govt is to ensure stability in the polity, economy and everywhere so that people can close thier eyes and do thier business without being afraid to get burnt. Yes, Nigerian business men are greedy but then they are capitalizing on the instability in the country. |

The OP failed to mention that Nigerians are hypocrites. I strongly believe that there is a problem with Dino's graduation but the school decided to protect their image and Dino benefited from it. This is like the same fraud in Buhari's own certificate but because he is president, they have saved him. The person you quoted is one of the people who defended buhari with all kinds of stupid logic but he is on the attack mode now because Dino is not in Buhari's camp. If Dino was a right hand man of buhari, he and his fellow zombies would have been the ones defending him with stupid logic. This is how most Nigerians behave, always taking position on issues based on people involved and not based on principles. |

Student125: I weep for the future of this country after reading some comments here.. A mere politics was played with our intelligence and some people can not reason at all. Even though the VC said he (Dino) graduated, does that mean it can't be wrong? wait let me ask you, what were you expecting the VC to say, that he didn't graduate so that the school integrity can be tainted? knowing fully well this same guy his running his second degree in the same school. I believe the school will protect her reputationby saying otherwise even if found Dino did not graduate. Before reasoning like cockroach, answer the following. -what took the school so long to give a press release at d promised time(Wednesday) -Dino was too forward to upload a pic with caption 99set, initially I thought he meant 99set graduate of ABU in kaduna NYSC camp, that would have been reasonable to guess he served BTW 2000 and 2001 bt with the VC claim that he graduated 2000, and his NYSC certificate carries 2001 begs a question: what does he mean with the caption 99 set. -why the change of name many times, This and many more questions makes me believe their is something fishy about his graduation. And mind you, Sahara reporter said he didn't graduate from onset that he forged his way out which still stand, even when the VC cleared him. Also if you are smart, you should deduce from the VC comment, he vindicated himself by saying from the 'available document' meaning those document can be genuine or fake. It is possible that the school being on hot seat will exonerate Dino in order to protect thier reputation. Any reasonable person knows that Dino is a fraud just like his friend Buhari. Whenever there is a controversy about your certificate, it means that is a fraud behind it. Nigeria is designed for the powerful to manuover the system. |
