You are right OP, if you are in love, break_ups will break up your spirit in bits and it could be the most frustrating part of ones life. But I don't buy your idea of grieving over your ex as if you are a widow or a widower, if you've got hobbies, do them. Spend time with your friends, if there is a possibility of a rebound relationship somewhere, go for it. Why will I deny myself the opportunity of attenuating my grieve just because I once love my ex. She could be enjoying herself with the new guy (only God knows) and you are telling me to grieve my eyes out? No way!
If I see a rebound relationship, I will quickly go into it, this is a universal therapy that is as old as man himself, it has being proven that meeting new people and starying to date debase once grieve a lot and reduces its span.
