I am not even going to discuss on this thread BUT, Nnamdi sow the seed of tribalism in this country even till date.

Nnamdi was so tribalistic that he was tribalistic to Eastern Minorities. Even to the extent that northern cameroun had to run away from eastern Nigeria to join cameroun.

I would not go into details but go do your research or at least know what you are talking about before discussing on issues you are not sure of.

Before we praise a hunter shouldn't we see what he has in his bag? People, if we must praise those that killed Fulanis in cold blood shouldn't we at least ask them the caliber of Fulanis they killed? Why are we still one country? I dont get it. I dont understand how we go to church on sunday, visit morsque on friday, preach "one Nigeria," yet we rejoice over the death of fellow country men. We all need to pause and ask ourselves where we're going to. When a community stalks another community, when a group of farmers exterminate cattle rearers, when clergy men and imams are inciting their flock then something is terribly wrong. Now, since we know no group can completely exterminate another group why then do we even embark on this fruitless journey that only guarantees eternal hate and endless tit-for-tat.

We all know that Fulanis will surely retaliate and when they do - its all going to be back to square one. Do we ever get tired? This is no longer 12 to 16th century when life was brutal and short, life has much more meaning now and I expect us to at least act like we're human beings. We need to demand for a solution to all this senseless bloodletting or we break up into more manageable units. That Fulani boy, girl, man, woman, or child that got maimed had a dream, had an ambition but didnt live to actualize it because he was Fulani. His offence was that he was born Fulani. As much as we now believe in collective punishment due to our inglorious years of coexistence in Nigeria, let us understand that blood is red and every life is precious.

If the farmers or villagers think Fulanis invade and sack them once in awhile, I think the right thing to do is to prepare and lay in wait for the invaders. If and when the Fulani invaders show up, you make sure they return in caskets - Invading and killing Fulanis in the dead of the night makes you no better.

Now back to the real issue. I want someone to show us where OnlyTruth insulted Yoruba or Hausa. Please search this thread and show us that or zip it. The only thing we read is that he disrepected Ogugua88, his Igbo sister. Yeah right! like you care so much about Ogugua88. I love my sister, Ogugua88, and I do feel her hurt because she honestly admitted she's not conversant with Igbo Language, which by implication - shes not completely in tune with issues that are right in the heart of Igboland. The irony is that some of the people hounding OnlyTruth have at one time or the other denied the authenticity of their own fellow kinsman's claim to ethnic affliation due to statements they consider "out of line."

What is even more appalling and sickening is that I have, on several occasions, come across where most of Ogugua88's cheerleaders insulted, ridiculed, and maligned Igbo people. Some have openly called for Igbo annihilation while some see Black Scorpion as their hero. Common man! if you want to point fingers at someone why dont you please look at yourself first. Except some few people here who maybe sticking out for Ogugua88 genuinely, the rest are doing it out of pure, concentrated, and unadulterated hate for anything Igbo.

Ogugua88 my beloved sister, kedu k'ihe di. I was on a self-imposed leave from NL before I read all the back and forth posts that're now causing ripples. Frankly, I see your take on all this as just - opinion which requires no crucifixion. However, you got it wrong when you put Igbo on the subsidy line of fire. You have to be Igbo, live in Igboland, know her history, and experience Nigeria for at least 20 years to understand why we, Igbos, will never be anybody's scapegoat again. Any Igbo that tries to drag Igbo into the subsidy protest will not like the reaction he'll get from his kinsmen. Three million, two million, or even one million souls is a lot and we paid that much just because we didnt see the hand writing on the wall. We will never be rail-roaded again, never again shall we be made scapegoats, if Nigeria wants to move forward we will help it make the journey but we will never lead any cause again. Never, not while this generation is alive. The Igbo you see today is 2.0, new and improved Igbo and by God we will not fall for anybody's game.

On the flipside, I applaud your courage, wisdom, and interest in politics. Women in Nigeria are relatively indifferent on political issues but you've shown you're cut from the same material as Mrs Okwesilieze, Mrs Okonjo, Mrs Ransome Kuti etc. However, I'll advise you thread carefully lest you mistake NL accolades as a signal for love, friendship, and bridge-building. Nigeria is rigged with political land-mines and trojan horses, what people say in the open is not what they say behind your back. One way to know when one is out of line is when one gets an e-handshake from a NLer that has said a disparaging thing about your own people. Though this method is not full proof, its still a great way to guard yourself against working for the wrong boss.

I love and appreciate all Nigerians from the southern creek to the semi arid north. Even though we, at one time, fought against eachother, I can guarantee that you'll probably find more "one Nigerians" in the East than most places. We're not die-hard seperatists Ok. Anyone saying we are - is just looking for an easy way to perpetuate his presence and that of his kinsmen in Aso Rock. Just as we have MASSOB in the East, we have MEND in ND and OPC in SW, and the newest but deadliest Boko Haram in the North. Of this four, only MASSOB in the East bears no arms.

We've paid our dues. For as long as I can remember, East has been mainstream enough so it aint gonna hurt if we choose to be a little bit more pro-Igbo in our outlook. To be pro-Igbo means that we want a nation that is free in all ramifications. We want a nation that sees all as equal, we want a nation that guarantees my freedom to preach the gospel of Christ in Maiduguri just as an islamic scholar feels no qualms delivering his message in Aba morsque. We want a government that is not centered in Abuja and only hears or considers what the press in Lagos says. We want our government in Enugu, Owerri, or Anambra. We want a regional goverment that makes economic and security (police) policies for her people. A government that finances and sustains itself by tapping into the ingenuity of her people. Brothers, pro-Igbo aint hurting nobody.

Folks, Lets not be unsetlled when Igbos or any other group calls for unity of their people because for Nigeria to inch forward in any meaningful way, unity is going to be needed both in the center and in the regions

Finally, Ogugua88 my sister, the reason many Igbos will not ply your route of reasoning is because your views kind of sound like Zik's. Zik's views were great for its time, the time Nigeria was sane. Today, what we have is a nation under a tight control of mad criminals that, over the years, wasted no moment in latching on to religion and ethcity to drive a billion pound wedge between Nigerians of different faith and ancestry. In as much as I love every Nigerian, I would be a fool not to realize how much toxic and tense ethnic relations are in this country. My advise to all is - preach and practice peace from your heart while watching your formation. Do not be left behind enemy line.

Since the end of civil war Igbos have been accused of not being "united."

From the day Gowon assumed powers (1966) up until this minute (1:21pm, 10/6/2012), Igbos have been shortchanged and marginalized, in fact Igbo marginalization was institutionalized from 1966 thru 1999. It was democracy that gave Igbos and ethnic minorities in the ND the space to voice their demands. Its unfurtunate some folks think that now we're in democracy that their headaches and ours should be indentical, no it doesnt work that way. I said this because of the recurrent BS on sudsidy removal and the accussation that Igbos were silent.

Going by what I know, some Igbos protested while some chose to occupy themselves with issues they consider more important. I dont know when Nigeria became one cohesive nation that people are now making it seem like it was Igbos that broke ranks with their fellow country men. In fact, it was Nigeria that broke ranks with Ndigbo and Easterners when in 66 the world woke up to a merciless pogrom, and last time I checked I didn't see "other" Nigerians protesting that. Its hypocrisy in an unquantifiable proportion for people to come here and malign the Igbo race because no major subsidy removal protest was held in Igboland. In the US some people believe Obama is the anti-Christ while in some quaters people beg to differ. Democracy without divergent opinions and priorities is worse than North Korean communism. Igboland is a highly democratic and individualistic society, its difficult to force anything down anyone's throat (unless, of course, you have the military behind you), so if many in the East consider something else more pressing than subsidy removal then that "something" is what's important to them at that moment in time.


On the issue of unity, its like dam.ned if we do and dam.ned if we dont. I've gone thru the OP's initial post and I didnt see anywhere he advocated hate to other groups in Nigeria. I've also gone thru all the stuff [b]OnlyTruth [/b]wrote up until the salvos and torpedoes started flying, I didnt see where he said Igbos were superior to anybody. If indeed OnlyTruth said such in other threads then he knows hes on his own, good Igbo men and women dont and will not support such exlusionary statements, but on this thread I'm still yet to see where he insulted other groups. All I saw was a concerned Igbo son trying to bring his people together so they can put pressure on Igbo politicians and officials for the good of Igboland and by extension, Nigeria. For those who wished we were never united, what about SS forum (BRACED) and SW regional integration? How many times have you come out to lampoon those meetings/organizations? are those organizations not exclusive? common people! lets cut this Igbophobia out.

In democracy people deserve the right to converge and associate as they deem fit, provided they're not breaking the law. I'm a Nigerian but I'm Igbo first. To be a good Nigerian means I have to be a good Igbo, and being a good Igbo entails that I put my house in order first before I step into the national arena. To that end I say, those calling for the unity of Igboland keep up your great work, let your gaze be still on the big prize, dont deter, dont let up, and dont let ethnicism drag you down. Lets make Igboland great and together we'll negotiate and re-engineer a better Nigeria.

Chicago, especially south side, is the murder capital of black people. You dont want to be there, I tell ya. I drove to south side one day and almost broke down after seeing so many strong black men aimlessly hanging on the streets. In fact one needs not a brain to decode that those men were preying on both old and little girls that have shunned any kind of parental up-bringing. It was a rude cultural shock for me.

It has always been my belief that we, Ndigbo, are the ones holding ourselves down. Politics or no politics, presidency or no presidency, FG assistance or not, Ndigbo can be a first-world nation inside a third-world country. We can pull it off only and only if we pull our resources together and give our region the much needed infrastructures that will kick-start our rapid industrialization.

Now, how do we start this journey of a thousand miles? Who should lead it? Should it be the old gaurds? While it looks like what I have above are questions, questions, and questions, the answers to them are not far-fetched. I say - lets start anyhow we know. Lets create a facebook movement that 'll appeal to the conscience of Ndigbos, especially in diaspora. Let's use that medium to create an avenue for people to make contributions for the scholarships of smart kids in Igboland. I believe it'll a master stroke to start with the generation of funds for scholarships, which I'll be more than happy to be the first to donate. If we're successful in getting funds for this nobel agenda then we would have given this process a great deal of legitimacy that'll propel it to the next step.

I understand people are scared of 419 these days but I'll rather be scammed for the future of Igboland than be scammed for a foolish cause. The future of Igboland belongs to us, the youths. Our fathers have paid their dues in sweat, tears, and blood and we cant ask them for more so, we, the youths, should lead this one. In summary, lets start this journey of a thousand miles with funds for scholarships. If we can pull it off, then we can pull the rest off.

What if we build the said Int'l airport in Anambra where it is most needed because of economic importance of Onitsha/Nnewi zone and its central location, being that one can assess it from Enugu state, Kogi, Benue, Delta and others.

Don't bother bro, because Anambra has since embarked on its Int'l Cargo/Passenger airport in conjunction with Orient Pet. Refinery in Anambra North area very close to their oil and gas plant.

My advice is that each state should build what will benefit its own people, just like Anambra people needs the airport more than any other state in the region. Dalu

As long as its built in the East I'm fine with it. Anambra has so much potentials to be the richest state in Nigeria and building an international airport in it is not out of line. Anambra and Abia state should be our export hubs and our leaders should take not of that. I'm from Imo and I love it to death, however, I see Imo as our own Massachusetts - a city of ivy schools and overflowing with Knowledge.

I know we're from different states, but our leaders should work closely with our governors to harmonize where certain infrastructures should be situated in the East. After the harmonization, all Igbos should be made to contribute towards building those projects with our without FG.

I've had some encounters with Nigerian security agencies and I thank God for still having my head attached to my neck. Those people can be ruthless for no reasons. Sometimes they can be bent on using you as a promo regardless of what the truth is. Over 50% of Nigerian sec-agencies are thieves. My advise to anyone is to avoid Nigerian men in uniform 'cause they can be ruthless.

Sometimes Nigeria disgusts me. It digusts me because even the smallest thing is seen either through politics or ethnic lens.

If Baba Suwe actually had the stuff in his stomach and NDLEA, with all its high-tech and high-sci, could not get it out of him how then would Suwe, an ordinary man, get it out on his own if he had made the trip? Last time I checked, Suwe was still alive. He's still flesh and blood and not dead from internal substance rupture. Why can't NDLEA accept that they goofed big time instead of making us think Suwe was monstre extraordinaire.

X-ray showed something according to them, but what if Suwe had some foreign objects that were attached to his intestines for medical reasons and the X-ray was reflecting those objects? After holding him for a long humuliating period and nothing came out of him dont you think its time to say you're sorry and move on?

I understand we're all fighting for survival and self-preservation in Nigeria, but thats not enough to support or give more momentum to evil. NDLEA messed up big time and they should learn from it. I suggest they go for more training because quite frankly, I dont think its the machine thats the problem, the personnel is.

NDLEA, pay Suwe and shut up. And while you're at it, go get some training 'cause we're tired of inept fools manning our sensitive and security agencies.

Most Western nations have almost maxed out their rapid economic growth. The best they can do now is to leech on us and/or hope to have 2.5 - 3.5 economic growth. Smart nations like Brazil and her likes have since dumped IMF and other institutions where UK and her fellow criminals reign supreme - no need to talk about how good Brazilian economy is. Like I said before, UK's international clout will eventually approach zero when all the new regional power houses in Africa, Americas and Asia emerge.

The job of the committee (it seems GEJ like committee a lot) is made easier already in some schools like UI where there is Dean's Roll of Honour in each faculty. All that's needed is to compile such lists and submit them for national competition. There is no point sending names, just send the matric number with the CGPA.

What is it that we dont know about this old empire that we grew up with. And please dont tell me about football or English language. Japan neither speaks english nor plays football better than Nigeria but their economy is bigger than UK's. The only thing that'll secure the future of a nation is if the youths take science and math seriously, not if that nation speaks english or plays football. If Nigeria commits herself to education and provision of infrastructure, I guarantee you that in the next 20 to 30 years we'll be providing aid to England.

On the first bolded, the US can and will fight its wars without UK's help. The reason US likes to get UK on board is to give its wars an international outlook - to make peoples of the world think this or that war has international consensus. US can, to a large extent, fight major wars in any part of the world today, can UK do that without US? US is extremely more powerful than UK. To put it succinctly, UK needs US to remain relevant, US doesnt.

Countries like Nigeria can easily overtake UK in 15-20 years if we get our head out of our behind. While its true UK currently have a sound economy, what's also true is that - its more like a nation on international status decline. For ages they exploited, raped, and usurped 1/3 of world when the rest of humanity was asleep, now the world is awake and ready to toss the union jack aside. Uk used to be in control of 1/3 of the world (meaning they screwed 1/3 of the world big time) but since early 20th century its size/power has been decaying exponentially. Who knows, UK may eventually be reduced to only England.

I'll say this - UK, the only land you own is England, so try as much as possible to manage it.

Is Boko Haram really fighting injustice? or are they another extremist, bigoted, dangerous, and implacable murderous religious organization seeking to dorminate and enslave people of different ancestry and faith? If trully BH is fighting for justice, what is their justice critical point at which they'll lay down arms and accept they've achieved it? Is this critical point - instant death, dormination, or enslavement of people outside Northwest and Northeast?

We're living in uncertain and dangerous times, and its even more dangerous given the number of respected and highly placed Nigerians who have either selfishly or naively given legitimacy to an indefensible war against innocent Nigerians. These innocent Nigerians dont even know the location of Aso Rock yet they're the ones dying in this "Boko Haram's war against injustice."

Boko Haram didnt start today, it started way before 1945, the only little confusion now is that in 1940s it had a different name and make-up, nontheless it had the same agenda and purpose. This idea that Nigeria's criminal Boko Haram is for justice might gain traction if we dont tell Bamanga Tukur and his likes that BH is criminal and we wont let them push down this idiocy down our throat.
