Tangalu, a self-styled native doctor also known as Babalawo, was arrested following a petition by one Dozie Ugonna, who alleged that he was scammed of over N2.5million by the accused and his cohorts.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 arraigned one Bala Tangalu before Justice A. B. Mohammed of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja on a 2-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N2.5million.
Tangalu, a self-styled native doctor also known as Babalawo, was arrested following a petition by one Dozie Ugonna, who alleged that he was scammed of over N2.5million by the accused and his cohorts.
According to the petitioner, the money was meant for the purchase of materials to neutralize some harmful charms purportedly contained in a carton filled with United States dollars.
The offence is contrary to Section 8 (a) and punishable under Section 8 (C) and 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14, 2006.
Particulars of Count two read:
“Bala Tangalu, Ataye (still at large), Nnamdi (still at large) Peace (still at large) and Linda (still at large), in the year 2016 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud obtained the total sum of N2,540.000 (Two Million, Five Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira Only) from one Dozie Ugonna under the pretence that you are a native doctor a.k.a Babalawo and the monies were for purchase of materials to neutralize some harmful charms contained in a carton filled with United State Dollars, which pretence you knew to be false”.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Upon his plea, counsel to EFCC, Elizabeth Alabi, asked the court to fix a date for trial and remand the accused in prison custody pending trial.
She urged the court to consider the weight of the offence, which according to her carries a minimum of seven year jail term.
However, counsel to the accused, Yusuf Abdullahi, told the court he had a pending bail application before the court. He added that the accused had been granted administrative bail by the EFCC which he had not breached and urged the court to adopt same bail condition.
Justice Mohammed granted bail to the accused in the sum of N2million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be a civil servant or a community leader.
The case has been adjourned to March 20, 2017 for trial. http://saharareporters.com/2017/02/22/efcc-arraigns-babalawo-n24m-fraud |

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has stated that it is working for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in no distant time.
The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra, Mr Damian Okeke-Ogene, who made this statement on Tuesday, said the Chief Nnia Nwodo-led executive of the organization would look into many problems facing the south east geopolitical zone, including producing a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction. He said, “This present Ohanaeze is not the one you used to know; the executive of Ohanaeze is ready to pursue Igbo agenda of which the Igbo presidency is part of it.
“The Ohanaeze president is consulting widely with the different tribes and ethnic groupings in the country.
“By the time he is done, other parts of Nigeria will know the need to fully integrate the Igbos into the main stream of Nigerian politics.
“What he is doing at the moment is to restore the dignity and values of Igbo nation.”
He added that Ohanaeze leadership was all hands on deck for peace and unity among Igbo brethren.
On the recent fire outbreak in Onitsha, the president advised Governor Willie Obiano to start considering the value of lives and property before granting licences for the construction of filling stations.
“The state government should deploy the services of vehicle inspection officers to ensure their roadworthiness and fitness of the drivers,” he said. http://dailypost.ng/2017/02/22/working-produce-igbo-president-ohaneze/ |

TippyTop: In other words he is still breathing. He was never dead. The problem, however, seems to be his state of health. The APC is only trying to manage the situation. And as much as I hate to sound like an alarmist, the situation isn't all that good, if the visitations are anything to go by. A President who claims he needs more to rest would at least, address Nigerians, even from his new Aso Rock Haven in the UK. The situation is quite terrible, I believe. |
Politics › Buhari's Health Not As Terrible As Speculated — Presidency by Sanchez01(op): 9:28am On Feb 22, 2017 |
The Presidency has said that President Muhammadu Buhari's health status is not as terrible as speculated.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, stated this early this morning while featuring on the Daily Sunrise programme of Channels Television, monitored by our correspondent.
President Buhari is currently on an extended vacation in the United Kingdom to complete and receive the results of series of tests recommended by his doctors.
Asked to explain Buhari's current health status, Adesina responded: "The current health status of the president is that it is not as terrible as people make it to seem. In his own communication, he (the president) says no cause for worry."
On when exactly Buhari would return to Nigeria, the presidential spokesman said: "He communicated the National Assembly and that letter of communication is in the public domain. He said I will be away till my doctors rule out certain things."
Adesina maintained that the Tuesday's statement that Buhari needed more rest was misinterpreted by the media.
He said statement was in past tense, talking about Buhari's health condition as of the time he was leaving Nigeria on January 19.
Asked again to disclose when the president would come back, he responded: "Well, we do not know when he will be back, but when he is coming, he will communicate."
Adesina said he did not need to talk directly to Buhari on the telephone before he could authenticate the transmissions from the president.
According to him, President Buhari is an honest man "who does not want anything to be coloured on his behalf."
"It is a matter of my personal decision and style (that I don't talk directly to the president). All those I spoke with, his personal physician, his CD (chief detail), his domestic aide, I can tell them to take the phone to Mr President that I want to speak to him. I know Mr President, he will speak with me. But I've decided not to talk to him because I do not need that telephone conversation to authenticate the health of Mr President.
"There is enough authentication, there is one from the acting president, there is one from the Senate president and there is from the speaker of the House of Representatives and many others. So, I do not need to authenticate the status of the health of Mr President by speaking to him." http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/politics/buhari-s-health-not-as-terrible-as-speculated-presidency/186389.html

You might only see us sweet at the initial phase and everything normalizes and get all natural that you might be wondering if the love had fizzled. Seeing a domineering Nigerian is a common thing but an over-possessive one? That is obviously a product of inferiority complex. Example; 'she's too beautiful. I won't let any man come close'. BLeshea, most of what would be given to you here might come from acclaimed feminists. While I strongly frown at crude men who think or believe every power to control a woman rest on their palm, your man is only acting the African way but is going about it the wrong way. Communication seems to be broken between you guys. A right step in the right direction would be reestablishing it. You agreed to having your own issues, which is admirable, but you really need to help him wear off that crude mentality. He wants you around when introducing you to people because he is proud of you, he doesn't agree to your argument being a black American but a white folk, I guess that stems from his mentality; every American is white, colour regardless. He believes the only way to show these things is by doing the things he does. Unfortunately, you don't really know him. A handful of Nigerian men don't enjoy their ladies looking too extravagant or extremely noticeable. I guess this explains the witch part. He does not really know how to convey his thoughts, and you don't really understand the Nigerian way. We spend two hours asking our ladies the same question every day - 'have you eaten?' If he wants you to talk to his mum everytime, then he means business with you. His approach is a bit crude but fear is also a factor. He fears you might leave him. |

– ‘Zoning’ out – Rotating power — or “zoning” as it’s called in Nigeria — has long been assumed to be part of the constitution and at the heart of the Yar’Adua crisis.
But experts said it never has been and was only PDP policy.
Now Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) is in power, there is theoretically no reason why anyone of any ethnicity, religion or political affiliation can’t be president.
Osinbajo, a trained lawyer who has long been in charge of economic policy, has widely been seen to be competent, travelling across the country and abroad, and chairing meetings.
“If the unexpected happens, Osinbajo should assume the full mantle of leadership,” said Sadiq.
Politics lecturer Dapo Thomas, of Lagos state university, agreed there was no cause for concern and said the constitution was “very clear” on the succession, should it come to that.
“If the president cannot continue because of ill health, incapacitation or death, his vice will take over,” he explained.
The slew of photographs in recent days of Buhari meeting delegations of well-wishers in London should go a long way to show he was not as ill as some have suggested, he added.
Buhari’s illness had been politicised, he said, adding: “What is happening is dirty politics by mischief-makers… working to ensure that the government fails.”
Buhari, who headed a military government in the 1980s, has been struggling to rid Nigeria of the endemic corruption that has blighted its development and plunged the country into recession. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/02/buharis-health-sparks-fresh-debate-leadership-nigeria/ |

– What if? –
Buhari has repeatedly had to deny opposition claims that he is seriously unwell with claims ranging from prostate cancer to kidney disease. Jonathan’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even announced on its official Twitter account last year that he had died.
The presidency said he had a persistent inner ear infection. Conversation in Nigeria has in recent weeks has revolved around “what if?” scenarios: what if Buhari were unable to carry on? What if he were to die in office?
What if the north once again lost out on power to the south? How would it affect the choice of candidates for the next presidential elections in 2019?
Political analysts, however, dismiss the possibility of a re-run of the Yar’Adua/Jonathan scenario.
“There is a whole lot of difference between what happened during Yar’Adua’s time and what is happening now,” said Professor Abubakar Sadiq, from the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria.
“There was a leadership vacuum under Yar’Adua because he did not hand over to his deputy… and a cabal bent on hijacking power prevented Jonathan from taking over,” he told AFP.
Yar’Adua’s illness was hidden from the public until he died and his body was brought back to Nigeria in the middle of the night, the political scientist noted.
“Nobody was allowed to see Umaru. But Buhari in his own case, handed over to his deputy. So, there is no way we will have a repeat of that ugly episode,” he added. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/02/buharis-health-sparks-fresh-debate-leadership-nigeria/ |

The protracted absence on medical grounds of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has stoked fears of a full-blown political crisis at the heart of Africa’s most populous nation.
The 74-year-old former army general left Abuja for London on January 19, leaving Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in charge while he took time off. But on the eve of his return earlier this month, it was announced that he was prolonging his stay to enable him to collect the results of unspecified medical tests.
Speculation, inevitably, went into over-drive that he may no longer be fit for the top job, and despite multiple claims he is well, the government has struggled to seize back the initiative.
For many, the situation revives memories of the situation seven years ago, when president Umaru Yar’Adua fell ill and later died while receiving treatment abroad.
It also once again lays bare the fragile divide between the majority Muslim north and the predominantly Christian south that characterises Nigeria and underpins political and daily life.
Succession to power at the federal level is seen as a balancing force between the two regions. In 2010, it was the southern Christian former university professor Goodluck Jonathan who deputised for the northern Muslim Yar’Adua: now it is Osinbajo for Buhari.
When Yar’Adua died, his supporters prevented Jonathan from taking over. The argument ran that the north would be short-changed if a southerner was allowed to complete Yar’Adua’s term of office. It took a deft move by parliament to get Jonathan to assume power and prevent a major political melt-down. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/02/buharis-health-sparks-fresh-debate-leadership-nigeria/ |

The oil exploration in the North, the deafening silence cum denials of the presidency over the unchecked activities of the Fulani Herdsmen, the genocidal mission of God-knows-who on Southern Kaduna, the chain abductions of Christian teenage girls and forceful conversion to Islam which the NPF has not done much to curb/manage, among so many other things. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said results of the series of medical checkups he carried out in the cause of his medical vacation had shown that he needed longer period of rest.
He said this necessitated his staying back in London, United Kingdom longer than initially planned.
The President said this in a four-paragraph made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina. Adesina did not disclose how long the President’s “longer period of rest” will take.
He however thanked Nigerians for their prayers and good wishes while assuring them that there is no cause for worry.
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country. “The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern. “President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry. ‘”During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned.” http://punchng.com/need-longer-period-rest-says-buhari/

https://i0.wp.com/media.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/2017/02/Xenophobic-Attack.jpg?w=1024The Nigerian government has called on the African Union and the South African government to take decisive and definitive measures to protect Nigerian citizens and other Africans within South African borders.
The Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made the call Monday amid reports of renewed violence against Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa.
The Nigerian Community in South Africa led by Ikechukwu Anyene confirmed the attacks and looting of Nigerian-owned businesses in Pretoria West on Saturday.
Mr. Anyene said the union had reported the incident to the Nigerian mission and South African police.
“As we speak, five buildings with Nigerian businesses, including a church have been looted and burned by South Africans,” Mr. Anyene said. “One of the buildings is a mechanic garage with 28 cars under repairs, with other vital documents, were burned during the attack. “Also, the pastor of the church was wounded and is in the hospital receiving treatment,” he said.
Mr. Anyene said the union had informed Nigerians in South Africa to be vigilant in the face of renewed xenophobic attacks. According to him, the union received information that there will be xenophobic attacks against foreigners on February 22 and February 23. Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa described the attacks as an “unnecessary setback”.
She advised Nigerians to be extra cautious as it looks like South African government seems to have no control over these attacks. The SSA, however, urged restraint on the part of Nigerians and warned that further attacks without any reprimand may have dire consequences.
Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa said the attention of the AU was being called because of reports of planned attacks against foreigners on February 22 and February 23.
“These attacks should not be allowed to continue because it is a big setback,” she said. Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa had two weeks ago met with South African High Commissioner in Nigeria, Lulu Aaron-Mnguni, on the killing of Nigerians in South Africa.
Mr. Aaron-Mnguni promised that the South African government was investigating the matter. “We have lost about 116 Nigerians in the last two years. And in 2016 alone, about 20 were killed,” this is unacceptable to the people and Government of Nigeria, Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/224027-nigeria-demands-au-action-renewed-south-africa-xenophobia.htmlLalasticlala |

You shouldn't talk about your mum in this manner! Honestly, I perceive you had an improper upbringing. That explains why you would paint your mother in such horrible manner.
Well, since you want others to teach you on how to cope with her, then I'd give you the little I have...
1. You were very greedy and ungrateful at some point in life but she swallowed your insensitivity and catered for you, even though you have branded her a lazy bum.
2. You are grown/growing and have attained the stage of responsibility, kindly repay her without complaining.
3. Trust me, you might be repaid in the same vein, if you don't map out plans to learn to make her happy.
4. If you cannot handle a 'megalomanic' mother, how on God's earth would you be able handle a nagging girlfriend/wife, if you don't have one, that is?
5. Your mum is obsessed with exercising power because she feels abandoned, that is just about the only way for her to be noticed. The same applies to a child whose needs are not met. They become rebellious just so they could be understood.
6. Your understanding of the word 'care' and 'love' is quite disgraceful. 'Timely assistance' is not enough. How about someone to talk with often? I mean her children; those ones who don't live with her?
7. Going by your post, I could deduce that your level of disgust for her is on a serious high; the one reason you would like to take your own life.
8. Mothers are demi-gods. I see mine that way. You should learn to start seeing yours the same. Every right thinking son/daughter/child should know this. You cannot have an unhappy mother/father and expect your sailings to be smooth.
9. You are a bad child, the same applies to your siblings.
10. Establish the place of communication with her often. She is hell bent on frustrating you because something is not right. Seek to write the wrong.
11. If you can do the above, then do what you propose - to commit suicide. |

Don't you know they are international trading laws protecting their companies? Show me one south African man in your area in Nigeria jobless and just claiming to be hustling? They come into Nigeria courtesy of huge enterprises while we go there as individuals looking to get rich quick at their expense and those of fellow Nigerians in south Africa. South African businesses matter to Nigeria than a corrupt, evil drug dealer and love-vendor Nigeriian doing evil in south Africa. We have decent Nigerians in south Africa and around the world but the bad ones are just too many. God bless you! You honestly took these words from me!! To add to your post, most Nigerians don't understand that 'threatening' an international company that is rightly protected by the international trading law could result to eventual folding up of such companies as a result of fear and would cause several hundreds of thousands of people to lose their job in a chain reaction. If South Africans are saying Nigerians (most) in their country and doing more good than harm, then I'd say I believe them, because daily news of apprehended Nigerian drug smugglers cum dealers is way too alarming. In time, I pray our laws would be reviewed and our penalties on drugs and harmful substances would be stiffer like most Asian countries. We are being ridiculed over these bad elements who are all out to satisfy their greeds. |
