I just pray you don't get rusticated. The school management's targets within the SUG are the President, the PRO and the Sec. Gen. |
They just signed their deaths. The creeks are territorial for a reason. This is one battle I would pray for to see the light of day. |

This is one phone I'll buy without thinking twice. I just hope Nokia would not make it a limited edition. |

Dangote Group, controlled by Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote, plans to launch a rice mill with a farm scheme in Nigeria to tap growing demand for paddy in Africa's biggest economy, the company said on Monday. Rice demand in Nigeria hit 6.3 million metric tonnes (MT) in 2015, with 2.3 million metric tonnes produced at home, leaving the country reliant on imports, according to the agriculture ministry. Dangote Group subsidiary Dangote Rice Ltd will launch a pilot project starting with 500 hectares of farmland by Gonroyo Dam, Nigeria's second-largest dam, located in the northern state of Sokoto. The multi-million-dollar project will be expanded to cover a land area of 25,000 hectares across three sites in northern Nigeria by the end of the year, the firm said. "By year-end 2017, Dangote Rice plans to produce 225,000 MT of parboiled, milled white rice. This will allow us to satisfy 4 percent of the total market demand within one year," the company said in a statement. "Our model can then be successfully scaled to produce 1,000,000 MT of milled rice in order to satisfy 16 percent of the domestic market demand for rice over the next five years." Dangote Group has grown aggressively, venturing into cement , food manufacturing , oil, gas and real estate. Last month, the group launched a $100 million truck assembly plant to tap a projected rise in demand for transport as the government boosts agriculture and farmers need to move goods across the vast country. Dangote Rice said it would partner with smallholders and contract farmers to grow paddy rice for milling. It will offer inputs to farmers while the smallholders provide land and labour. At harvest, Dangote will recoup input costs and buy the paddy rice from farmers for processing at market price. The 25,000-hectare land will be cultivated by nearly 50,000 farmers, organised into groups. Dangote will engage with the groups to sign contracts with each farmer. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/reuters/article-4220094/Africas-richest-man-Dangote-plans-rice-Nigeria-tap-growing-demand.html |
I saw the vehicle the other day. It is quite shocking that the lad is allowed to drive the chunk of metal around. Something could go wrong. |
He makes a whole lot of sense. 'The people you protest against, do they die?' 6:25 or thereabout. |
You tend to wonder why some people barely do well with getting jobs. How on God's earth would you be when you don't pay attention to details ![]() And some people are still dropping their phone numbers ![]() |
Offorroseline:So because your brothers committed a crime they should be pardoned and not incarcerated because there are blood ties? If you can commit the crime, be prepared to do the time. |
wamiikechukwu:You shouldn't have included the emboldened. Nigeria does not have stable economy, all thanks to our lust for oil. As a consuming nation with little or nothing to manufacture/export, devaluation would have birthed instant economic death owing to the fact that we heavily rely on importation. One of the implications of devaluation which most countries fear the most, is that imports would be more expensive while export would be very cheap. Even with the so-called manufacturers in the country, most of them still import their materials from several other countries. The problem is not just about devaluation of our currency. It would have made tons of sense if we export more than we import but we all know that huge reverse is the case. Increased aggregate demand (AD) would not work here because the import - export scale is uneven. Our problems, quite unfortunately, are overdependence on oil, while ignoring the call for a sudden diversification of the country's economy, coupled with the like of clear economic policies as exhibited by the present administration. You don't just compare a producing nation with Nigeria. These things are not rocket science. |
Juicypot247:Your life must be very difficult. Kudos to your village people. |
matrixme:And you missed out the point that the winners were paid in Dollars and not in Naira? We lean on past Glory as a nation, one which has not really pushed us to achieve nothing. South Africa is the envy of Africa as it stands, while we are at the level where we still get to ask ourselves how we voted certain entities into office. And have you equally cared to ask how many functional companies are happy with the state of things in the country? We send foreign aids because we champion the hypocritical mantra. These aids are never deployed in Fulani boiling territories, yet you think or believe all is well? The answer whether or not Boko Haram has been defeated is still answered with 'technically'. In being a patriot, we need to side or pretend all is well when certainly all is not. The country isn't trending well. The present administration is clueless as far as economic policies are concerned and the we believe we still have the respect of other countries? Perhaps respect is what fills the plate of those who voted with the hope that things would get better. |
FeloniousFelon:Trust me, you don't hate this government as much as I do. However, peddling lies and falsehood just to drive home our points is quite embarrassing. The picture is that of a pastor who ordered that his members eat grasses. Let's criticize objectively. |
austin2all:Cedis that our comedians used to make jokes with back then. The same Cedi is over N70 now. Yet we keep saying it is not that bad. |
It is high time we stopped calling ourselves the 'giant of Africa'. Going by these exchange rates, it is safe to say we are known for being the most populous African country in the world with a useless currency. I keep wondering how we got to this point. |

Female landlords are by far the most difficult to deal with. If it's a family setting house, then know you cannot do much. Those types of houses should be avoided at all cost. You just might end up being treated as the woman's blossoming teenage son. Just wait for your rent to elapse and then move out. |
WOCKHARDI:See, don't let me slap you this morning! ![]() Most of you were handed these tales like a baby being given candy. Biafra had allies in countries such as; France Israel Portugal Spain South Africa Rhodesia. Tanzania, and Belgium And yes, I forgot to mention that Ojukwu hired mercenaries, WHITE MERCENARIES! So you guys shouldn't come here with the victim mentality. It was a war for crying out loud, not a game of chess. You don't expect the enemy to give you blanket and warm milk during that period. Although the Igbos had too many casualties, I blame it on Ojukwu who didn't perfectly map out his plan before beating the drums of war. The 3 million deaths of innocent civilians should be heaped on Ojukwu and none other. During the first World War, German forces poisoned enemy streams and Wells. There would always be casualties during wars, either from both sides or mostly a side. If Ojukwu was indeed concerned about the welfare of his people, he would have surrendered the moment food supplies were cut. Does it not interest you that the man was chubby during the supply cut yet children littered every turn looking impoverished The same man bolted without tell his people, yet you say he was concerned about the welfare of his people. It is the very reason I loathe Kanu. He claims to be knowledgeable and angry but would rather lead another millions of people to their death. https://www.nairaland.com/3586561/how-biafran-commanders-surrendered-video Educate yourself with the link above and stop peddling newspaper stand gists. ![]() |
No one needs his wishes. He should have spent his leave in the country and also used a Nigerian hospital so as to feel what the average Nigerian feels. ![]() |
She has a point. Jonathan governed Nigeria when everything was sensible, yet, did so little. |
Tonye, I could remember reading your assertion sometimes ago about the death of the PDP and the the need to float a new party that is youth-oriented. I guess the PDP is the same youth-oriented party you spoke of? |
moscobabs:I don't fancy the Head Office/HQ. The atmosphere can be so tensed that you would pray you don't run out of tasks to do. While I do not want to rule the many benefits of the HQ cum Head Office. I believe it is highly painstaking than field offices/branch offices. Pros of Head Office Jarus already mentioned them. Cons 1. HQ staffers work longer hours and tend leave the office late than others. 2. Not all headquarters jobs are glamorous and address attention-grabbing, controversial issues. Some headquarters jobs are located in backwater offices that—though important—may receive relatively little public attention. Operating in a large bureaucracy, staffers in such offices may feel like 'a little fish in a big pond.' 3. HQs/Head Offices are mostly located in Metropolitan areas which are quite difficult and somewhat expensive to live in. 4. Did I mention traffic? 5. Unnecessary Pressure and close monitoring Pros of Branch Offices 1. Liberty 2. Timely closure from the day's activities, as opposed to staffers in the Head office. 3. (It doesn't take me 20 minutes to get home after closing for the day) ![]() 4. It is quite easier for one to be noticed for doing the extraordinary (believe me) Cons 1. Exposure to the big names might be almost impossible. 2. It could cause one to be lazy 3. Promotion could take longer than expected. |
safiya7:Somniphobia can be quite a terrible phobia. I have a cousin battling with it. She's married now though and her hubby knows better. They go wherever together and spend the nights almost together. There was a night she called my phone and started crying just because the hubby had engagements at the office, called her and told her he might not be coming home. It was late and she couldn't just go to him. She started calling everyone just so she wouldn't feel she's alone. It is a night to remember. She didn't sleep all through the night as she feared something would come for her when her eyes are closed. My cousin had no option than to ask one of her husband's siblings to move in with them. They are all happy now. Just try and see a psychologist to ascertain the degree of your phobia. All will be well ![]() |
